these accidental lads were supposed to be true macrognathus aculeatus..... the beefy 14" hunks from the same waters as my borneo jumbo python eels.... but then i opened the box and there was a bag of very scared macrognathus aral (an eel i already have 3 of)

as you can see, they are Very Different Eels and the wet spot fucked up their ID.

anyways, these useless banana bois now have their own 40 gallon breeder filled with spiderwood and black sand and crypts and dim lighting, because they're so damn useless and don't know how to function like normal eels. like. they were lying around the tank very sadly all day before i added decorations. (and they're still doing that, but in a darker and more secure-feeling environment.) i could scoop one up in my hand and it would barely wiggle. they hardly know how to properly eel.
