Quote
Death alone gives meaning to life, and you will never fully live until you know you must die. And make your peace with that knowledge.

"The entire world is becoming torrentially conservative, out of self-protection, to protect its heritage, from a duty to capture once again the elements that have been shaken together, each in a different way, us ourselves - in the most difficult of all: the re-overthrow of the overthrow, the negated and negating negation, the revolution against the revolution".
- Rudolf Borchardt.

I'm watching videos of people shooting guns because I can't stop thinking about my fictional husband.

Several months ago I dug around and found the contact info of Mark Borchardt, a Wisconsin filmmaker who was the subject of the documentary American Movie, which me and my partner love from the bottom of our hearts. In that documentary he goes through his struggles in the process of creating a short film. It's a really beautiful piece of art that's funny, inspiring, and human.
After some email exchanges I asked to buy a copy of Coven and he sold me a VHS tape of it, and I forgot about it completely until I saw the email stack during a search and I inquired about it. He was so sweet and four days later...this arrived.
This really means everything to me, immediately I'd consider this one of my prized possessions. American Movie is such an inspiring work and I can't believe I'm holding a copy of the real short film Mark makes in it, that I got to talk to the man himself. Local, weird art made with passion and intensity is so important, and this is tangible proof. I'm so happy.
Now go watch American Movie!!!!

-----------
A wonderful evening to return to a ritual that I had missed in the last few editions (in addition to the two years of covid closures). There were more than a hundred thousand people. And it was nice 💞💞💞 listening to friendly voices that crossing you again after a long time tell you with the inflection of the dialect: "You are the same". The German writer Rudolf Borchardt, originally from Königsberg, said that Pisa was a sailing empire different from all the others. True, this soul is still felt at some moments. Thank you, Pisa, for the beauty, the poetry and the gift of art that you have generously offered me.
