Omg I have a Boone request if you’re taking any! reader is a new team member and has a crush on him but he’s so standoffish towards her cuz he also has a crush but he just like shuts down around her. Maybe she ends up confessing cuz she wants to get it over with and it ends w smut where he’s a little more subby 👀 also if you can add something where he like helps her into the truck or just does something w his arms in general 😂 I’ve been obsessing over his arms since the rocket scene 💀
I am absolutely taking Boone requests! Let's give him the respect he deserves!
sub!Boone x dom!fem!reader
cw: MDNI (18+) smut (p in v) hurt/comfort
You were nothing but excited when you had gotten the DM from Tyler. He had seen your videos on YouTube. He loved your work and approach to storm chasing that he knew he had to ask you to join the team. Everyone had been excited for your arrival. Well, everyone except Boone.
Well, not at first. At first, he had actually been super on board, looking forward to someone new. But then you showed up on the scene in your short shorts and the man was done for. You were smart and pretty? That was definitely a lethal combination.
And then you reached your hand out for him to shake and it was soft and warm and he immediately wondered what it would have felt in other places. It was as if you were trying to kill him with the bright smile on your face as you introduced yourself. His knees were weak and he didn't like how he was so close to swooning.
And the thing about Boone was that he was not a fan of love. Well, for other people, it was great, but for him? Forget it. He had been burned once and that was enough to swear off romance altogether. He would sleep with countless people, but immediately put it to a stop as soon as feelings were involved.
So, he did the only thing he knew how. He choked his feelings down and began treating you like you were gum on the bottom of his shoe. You'd try to speak to him and he'd just turn the radio up louder or just flat out ignore you. And he felt like a dick for it. You were just being friendly and he completely shut you down.
And what made it worse was when you watched him laugh and joke around with the others, only further proving that he didn't like you even though everyone tried to convince you that it wasn't true. Boone was really just a teddy bear and you were wondering if maybe you had just caught him on a bad day.
But the fact was, Boone just didn't like you. Had even convinced himself of that, in fact. He didn't like how Tyler let you take over without asking for anyone else's approval. You hadn't even been there a year and you were already allowed to take the reigns? Hell, not even Boone was allowed to do that and he was Tyler's right hand for gods sake.
And the worst part of all was when you took his spot in the truck, the front seat now occupied by your ass that he couldn't stop staring at. And it was even worse when your perfume would linger on the interior, that sweet, smoky smell that wrapped around him like a blanket. It was intoxicating and he could just imagine pulling you to him, burying his face into your neck and having a whiff for himself.
"You should tell him," Tyler whispered as you found yourself staring at Boone who had been at the gas pump for the last few minutes. Watching him and the way his arms would flex as he worked made your brain short circuit.
You wanted them to wrap around you tightly as his lips crashed to yours, the thing quick and sloppy, taking his time with you as you were pliant under his touch. You wanted to feel his mustache scrape against your upper lip, making the skin red from how roughly it was moving against it.
"Tell him what?" You asked, finally pulling your gaze from the man to look at your friend who was next to you, leaning against the truck.
"That you like him," Tyler replied in a tone that supposed to make the whole thing obvious. You just laughed in response. You did not like Boone. If anything, you just wanted to fuck him to get him out of your head.
"I don't like him."
"Right, then why were you staring at him like you wanted to climb him like a tree?"
"If anyone needs to admit their feelings, it's you. When are you going to tell Kate?" You looked over your shoulder at the girl who was laughing with Javi and Tyler paused, completely caught off guard by your question.
"This-this isn't about me," he stuttered. "This is about you and Boone and your obvious feeling for each other." You laughed again, wondering where the hell he was getting that from. Boone had made it very obvious that he didn't like you so you didn't know why Tyler kept insisting that it was true.
"Okay, one, I don't see how this is any of your business, and two, I don't like him and he certainly doesn't like me. So let's drop it, okay?" You were now getting frustrated, though you didn't know why. Well, maybe you did know and just didn't want to admit it.
The truth was, you had been crushing on Boone from the very beginning and had honestly thought you had been subtle until Tyler had called you out. Because it was embarrassing admitting that you liked someone who so obviously hated you. You didn't know why, but you actually kind of found it to be attractive.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night, y/n," Tyler winked as he nudged your shoulder and opened the passenger side door for you and helped you into the seat just in time for Boone to see.
He finished up with the gas then hurried to get in the truck before it drove off. He was forced to sit in the middle between Lily and Javi. And by some stroke of luck, he looked up just in time to see you pulling down the visor to look in the mirror. You then pulled some lip gloss from your purse, catching Boone’s gaze in the reflection. You made eye contact with him as you swiped the gloss over your lips so slowly, torturing him as his mind was reeling with places where he wanted to leave marks with the brown color.
His mouth went dry, the simple action driving him crazy. You had only done it to see if Tyler was right and now you had the man right where you wanted him, not missing how he had rested his hands in his laps, desperate to cover his cock that was threatening to tent in his pants.
As you tried to sleep that night, all you could think about was Boone. You always tried to push him out of your thoughts, but this time, you let him stay, living absolutely rent free there. Your thoughts were nothing but filthy as you imagined the two of you between the sheets of your bed, in every position possible. And the sounds…the sounds. They were enough to make you orgasm right there. They sounded so real and vivid and all you could hear was your name being uttered through moans and gasps as you took exactly what you wanted from him.
The next morning was rough as you hadn’t gotten any sleep. You had spent most of the night either with your hand down your underwear or staring at Boone’s phone number, trying to get yourself to text him and ask him to come over. You eventually settled for pleasuring yourself and found that even though it had satisfied you, that it was nothing like the real thing.
You watched a truck pull into your driveway and your eyebrows furrowed as Boone got out of the driver’s seat before leaning against the door, looking like he would have rather been anywhere but there. You were really going to have to talk to Tyler since you knew that Boone being your ride had to have been his doing.
You took your sweet time putting on your shoes before fleeing the house, making sure to lock the door before heading over to the truck. The ride hadn’t even started yet and you were already dreading it. Why couldn’t Tyler just leave it alone? Why was he trying so hard to prove that you and Boone had feelings for each other?
Boon was quick to move to your side of the truck and he opened the door for you before holding his hand out for you to take. You just blinked at him, staring down at his hand completely dumbfounded.
“I want to help,” he said, his tone sugary sweet which was not what you were used to hearing. In fact, you were sure that was the most he had ever said to you in the months that you had been working together.
“Oh,” you replied, eyes wide as you slowly put your hand in his before he helped you into the truck, trying to not stare at his arm as it flexed, but you couldn’t help yourself. It was so easy to get distracted by him.
You were so distracted by his muscles that you hadn’t been aware that he was staring at your ass and the way your shorts were hugging it. If he had any more confidence, he would have given it a squeeze, wanting to hear your little yelp as he did so. He wanted to stick his hand into your back pockets as he kissed you senseless, cupping your ass as you pushed him against the side of the truck.
“Thank you,” you smiled at him and he almost didn’t hear you, letting his dirty thoughts get in the way.
“You’re welcome,” he smiled back and once you were in the seat, he closed the door and rounded the front of the truck, muttering to himself about how much of an idiot he was. If he hadn’t been so stuck on treating you like shit, maybe the two of you would have been together. But of course he had gone and fucked up any chance of that.
Boone climbed into the driver’s seat and put the keys in the ignition before putting the truck in reverse, his hand landing on the back of your head rest as he did so. He then brought it to sit on the center console and you stared at it for a second, trying to figure out if you wanted to hold it or have it wrapped around your throat.
You then turned to look at him as he hummed along the song that was playing softly through the speakers, letting his free hand tap to the beat on the center console. Maybe Tyler was right. Maybe you did like Boone and were just pushing your feelings down so you didn’t have to deal with being rejected.
Considering that the man was consuming your every thought, there was no way that you didn’t like him. In fact, you were beginning to think that you were falling in love with him despite his hatred towards you. And why couldn’t you get the hint? He didn’t like you.
“You have a pretty smile,” you told him before you really thought about what you were saying. And you felt your cheeks heat as you looked down at your hands that were sitting in your lap. You were now embarrassed that you had spoken at all, let alone complimented him.
“I what?” He asked. Boone had heard you just fine, but wanted you to say it again just to make sure that his ears weren’t playing a cruel trick on him.
“I said that you had a pretty smile,” you repeated, your voice louder, more confident, and Boone felt his own cheeks blush at your compliment. “It’s no wonder you don’t do it often because I feel like I would do blind from how bright it is.”
“Jesus, y/n, you’re making me blush,” he replied, his tone nothing but humorous, but he wasn’t joking. His cheeks were warm and he was hoping that you couldn’t see the pink color that was tinting his skin.
“Aww, I really am,” you teased as you reached over and pinched the cheek that was closest to you, causing him to blush even more. He was getting really embarrassed and almost wanted to ask you to stop, but he loved the way your skin felt against his.
You pulled your hand away sooner than he would have liked and silence fell between you again. Good. He was beginning to think that you were getting a little too chummy with him. He didn’t want to be your friend. As much as he convinced himself he wanted to be nothing to you, he had to eventually come to terms with the fact that he wanted to be your boyfriend.
He wanted to be your boyfriend so fucking bad that it hurt. But of course, he had to go and fuck that all up for himself. And you were too nice, still treating him with respect even though it was obvious that he was hurting you. He didn’t deserve that. He didn’t deserve you. He thought the whole thing would have been easier if you would have just given him the same energy back. Then maybe it wouldn’t have been so easy for him to fall in love with you. With your laugh, with the way that you would always bring everyone coffee you had bought on the way to Tyler’s house where you all usually met before a storm chase.
Because deep down, Boone was his own worst enemy and didn’t think he deserved to be happy. He had convinced himself that he was the reason why he had been cheated on. He hadn’t been there for her, hadn’t been as good in bed as the other guy. But really, Carly was the problem. She was the one who screwed everything up. Had pulled the “it’s not you, it’s me” after Boone had caught her in their shared bed with the guy she had told him not to worry about. Apparently he had every right to worry.
And then there you were, all sweet and perfect, and he was telling himself that he couldn’t have you. That he didn’t deserve you because of a mistake that his ex girlfriend had made. And he’d tell himself that he wasn’t ready, that the wound was still fresh, but the truth was that it had been closed for quite some time, the pain no longer there, the blood all cleaned up. So what was his excuse? He didn’t have one, not really.
The truck rolled to stop at a red light as thunder rumbled in the distance. You rolled down the window and stuck your head out to see the once white clouds were now gray. There was a flash of lightning and you quickly pulled your head back into the truck as you felt a droplet of rain hit your cheek. Then, in the blink of an eye, it began to downpour, the rain pattering against the truck.
Boone pressed on the gas, going a little faster than he probably should have. He’d never admit it, but he hated driving through rain. It was something that scared him as it was always unpredictable and hard to see. Especially now with it coming down in sheets to the point where he couldn’t see at all.
So not only was it complete torture to be in a vehicle alone with you when you looked so,,,perfect, but now he was having trouble doing the thing that was taking his mind off of you. Now he just wanted to get to where Tyler had told him they were meeting just to get away from the torture.
And as if it couldn’t have gotten any worse, the truck stopped again in the middle of the road. Boone was panicking as he turned the key only to hear the engine stutter as he tried over and over.
“Fuck,” he muttered under his breath as he rested his forehead on the steering wheel. He then turned to you, hating the look of pity that you were giving him. He didn’t need it since he had been pitying himself for years.
“Maybe we can get someone to give you a jump?”
“Nah, I’ll just get a tow. Needs a new battery anyway,” he replied as he got out of the truck, rounding the front to your side to help you out.
So that’s how you ended up at the motel down the road after watching Boone’s truck roll away attached to the back of a tow truck. And of course, because the universe just loved to laugh at you, the room that you were using for the night only had one bed.
You both stood at the edge, staring down at the mattress, the rain water that had soaked through your clothes surely dripping down onto it. You turned to Boone to see that he was already looking at you, a small smile on his lips.
“Guess one of us will have to take the floor,” he said and you shook your head.
“Don’t be silly,” you replied as you removed your shoes before collapsing onto the bed. “We’ll just share it. And I’ll even put a couple pillows between us if that makes you feel better.”
“Sure,” he replied as he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his jeans.
“But can I be honest?” You asked, sitting up, looking him directly in the eyes.
“Y-yeah,” he stuttered, suddenly scared to hear what you had to say.
“I don’t want a divider,” you told him as you stood to your feet. “I’m so fucking cold and I just want you to hold me and kiss me I know I look like an idiot for being in love with someone who doesn’t reciprocate my feelings.”
“Are you kidding?” He asked with a laugh and you stared at him, dumbfounded.
“Why would I kid about that?”
“I don’t know, I just-you-and-you like me?”
“Yes, I thought it was obvious!”
“Well, obviously not. I mean, I like you too. And I-wow, you like me.” This was the most you had ever heard him speak and you honestly thought it was cute that you got him babbling.
“Will you just shut up and come over here?” You asked and he slowly stepped over to you as you wrapped your arms around his waist. “Kiss me,” you commanded and watched his cheeks blush, his eyes widening.
You watched his gaze shift to your lips then back up to your eyes, filled with desire. Boone then wrapped his arms around your shoulders and pulled you in, slowly inching his mouth towards yours. His lips slotted between yours and you were quick to respond, your movements slow at first, but you were getting eager, hungry, trying to make up for months of want.
His hand moved to cup the back of your head as he tried to keep up with you, not expecting it all to go so quickly. But he wasn’t going to stop you, just letting you take what you wanted as he was pliant underneath your touch.
You pressed one more kiss to his lips before motioning for him to turn around. He was about to argue, but you gave him a pointed look and he just knew not to argue with you.
“Yes ma’am,” he replied, holding his hands up and turning around to face the door. You turned your back to him and peeled off your shirt and jeans, tired of the way they were sticking to you.
“Okay, you can turn around,” you told him once you were in only your bra and panties, and as soon as he was facing you, his mouth fell open, not expecting you to be in full-on lingerie.
“Fuck,” he rasped, then quickly cleared his throat. “I mean, you look-fuck.”
“That’s a compliment, I hope,” you replied, batting your eyelashes.
“It is,” he nodded, feeling he needed some water to wet his very dry throat. You had looked even better than he had imagined. So pretty that he couldn’t look away.
“Now it’s your turn,” you replied and his eyes widened. Boone wasn’t insecure about his body in the slightest, but thinking about you being the one to see it did make him a little nervous.
“My turn?” He asked and you nodded, biting down on your bottom lip, making his thoughts even more impure.
“Yeah, I’m undressed so it’s only right for you to be. That is, if you want to. I wouldn’t want to make you do something you don’t want to.” But as soon as the words left your mouth, Boone was taking off his shirt, followed by his jeans so he was just left with his underwear where you could clearly see a boner tenting.
His eyes were dark and you were sure that if you had given him permission, he would have taken you right there. And you would have let him. In fact, you were so close to begging him to, or maybe you would have preferred him to be the one to do the begging.
He looked unsure of what to do, suddenly seeming shy so you knew you needed to help him out. You knew about his reputation so you didn’t know why he was so shy around you. You weren’t that intimidating, were you?
You grabbed hold of his hands and pulled him close, your arms wrapping around his neck while his found your waist. You slowly inched your face towards his before slotting your lips together again, this kiss much more soft and gentle.
And in that moment, Boone decided that he could have kissed you for hours, already addicted to the feeling of your lips against his. The way your lip gloss tasted, that fake cherry flavor that normally tasted medicinal, but there, it tasted heavenly and he couldn’t get enough.
Your hands found their way into his hair and he felt like he was going to cream in his pants just from the small tug you gave it as your tongue flicked into his mouth once again. If he hadn’t been able to literally feel your nails digging into his scalp, he would have convinced himself that he was dreaming.
“This is everything I could have dreamed up,” you murmured against his lips and he couldn’t have agreed more. “But I was wondering if you wanted to take it to the next level.”
You pulled away and Boone just nodded furiously, not being able to hide his excitement.
“Gonna need a yes or no.”
“Yes!” He replied, a little too enthusiastically then cleared his throat. “Yes,” he nodded, his tone much more calm and you just laughed in response. He really was cute and felt honored that he was so excited to sleep with you, because from what you had heard, he had sworn off anything of that sort. You supposed now that you were going to have to make it that much more worthwhile.
“Okay, but I think you’re going to have to beg. I just don’t feel like you want it enough.”
“I can beg,” he nodded furiously. “I’m a good begger.”
“Go on, then.”
“Please, y/n,” he whined. “I mean, look at how much I need you,” he pointed to his rock hard cock then dropped to his knees, his hands still holding onto your hips. He buried his face into your stomach and you decided that he wasn’t lying, he really was a good begger.
“I don’t know,” you replied. “I don’t think you want it enough.”
You felt his lips against your stomach and began to laugh as he peppered it with kisses between whispered sweet nothings. God, he was good.
“Please,” he begged, resting his chin on the spot right above your belly button as he looked up at you with pleading eyes. “I promise I’ll be a good boy.”
That line seemed to have done something for you because you were quick to help him to his feet before pushing him down onto the mattress, watching a wide grin spread on his face.
“Boxers off,” you commanded and he was quick to listen, pulling them off as quickly as he could as you pulled a condom from your purse. He put it on while you took off your underwear before climbing on top of him.
“Wow, look at you, honey, you’re already leaking and we haven’t done anything yet,” you teased and watched his cheeks turn red. “All that just from kissing? I must be better than I thought.”
“I-I’m a little out of practice,” he replied, feeling his cheeks getting even more warm.
“We don’t have to do this, Boone,” you reached up to twirl some of his hair around your finger and with you sitting on top of him like that, looking like an absolute dream, he could have sworn that he had died and gone to heaven.
“I want you to feel comfortable.”
“I do,” he smiled. “Actually, you’re the only person who I want to do this with. I’ll be fine, I promise.”
“Well, let me know if I do something you don’t like or just want to stop.” Boone appreciated how accommodating you were about the whole thing, being nothing but gentle with your words. He just wished that other people had reacted the same instead of just laughing in his face.
“I will,” he nodded. “Now please go ahead and do it. I’m dying here.”
You slowly placed yourself onto his cock and took no time to ride him, your hands finding his shoulders as your movements were slow, wanting to be soft and gentle at first to figure out what he liked before you went in the way you wanted to.
But clearly Boone had enjoyed it as his eyes shut tight, multiple moans falling from his lips as you rode him. His hands moved to your hips, digging into the skin as he bucked against you, feeling the need to move with you. And that seemed to work because a moan fell from your own lips and Boone swore that he was going to come just from hearing it.
“More,” he begged. “Faster.” You did as he commanded and moved faster, watching him come undone underneath you as his fingers dug even more into your skin, his hips bucking against yours even harder.
“Are you sure you’re out of practice?” You asked. “Because you’re doing great. I mean, look at you. Already look like you’re going to come, Jesus.”
“I-I think I’m close.”
Your movements got harder and faster and Boone felt an orgasm building already, feeling kind of embarrassed that he hadn’t lasted very long. But the sounds came out before he could stop them, louder than he had ever been and he was wondering why he hadn’t been on the bottom very often.
“That’s it,” you cooed. “Let it out, baby.” You continued to ride him at the same pace, trying to see how many times you could get him to orgasm in one round.
“Got some more in you? We can stop if you want.”
“Don’t. Stop,” he replied in between breaths and that seemed to be enough for you. You picked up your pace, going the fastest and hardest that you could, watching his back arch underneath you as he orgasmed again and again, looking like an absolute mess with the sweat rolling down his body and his hair that looked beyond repair.
“Fuck,” he rasped. “So fucking good.” His hips bucked against yours again and again as you fucked him hard and fast, trying his best to keep up with you.
The answer was four. And each time seemed to be more intense than the last, practical screams escaping his lips and you really hoped the other guests could hear him and know that you had fucked him good. And you had.
And after you had gone all night, you spent the morning in each other’s arms, bare skin to bare skin as you both got the best sleep of your lives, deciding that you were both looking forward to doing that often, deciding that you had to share a bed every night after admitting your feelings to each other. If either of you had anything to say about it, you’d be together forever.

hiya! loved the scott x reader you posted:) i also have a little request for him, it's two ideas i combined together so please feel free to choose one or the other if you don't like them together! one was that reader likes to anonymously leave little presents for scott on his seat in the truck, just snacks or little trinkets from the convenience stores. especially if it's one of those little solar powered dancing figurines that you can mount on the dashboard. the other thought was that reader likes to make bracelets to relax before going to bed in various hotels. first it starts off just making them for the people that she regularly teamed with until she makes so many that she ends up making enough over time for all of them out on the road. when scott finally finds his bracelet on his truck seat he realizes who was leaving all the other presents:) thanks in advance!!
Of Trinkets, Treats, & Bracelets | Scott x Reader
Summary: You show Scott you like him in small ways. Scott shows you he likes you in a big way.
A/N: I love jealous Scott if you can’t tell.
Honestly, Scott had thought maybe it was Javi at first. The little gifts that would be left on his seat in the truck everytime Storm Par stopped at a gas station or truck stop. After all, he and Javi were pretty close, and Javi was a nice guy like that. But when he asked, Javi denied it with a smile. “Nah, that’s not me, man.” “So who?” Scott’s brow furrowed. Javi just smirked.
It was always either one of his favorite snacks, his favorite drinks, or one of those little solar powered figurines you put on the dash. Or his favorite, a pack of gum. He stopped trying to figure out where the gifts were coming from, because Javi sure wasn’t telling him.
It was a Tuesday, and Storm Par was stopped at a truck stop, glaring at Tyler and his crew who had just pulled in. Scott’s attention was stolen from their competition however by you, flouncing up to James, the Storm Par member you drove with most often.
“I made your bracelet,” you beam, outstretching your hand. James smiled and took the bracelet you were offering him. “Aw, thanks, (Name). Now we’re all matching.” “And Javi!” you exclaimed brightly.
You turned your attention to Javi and Scott. Javi held out his hand to accept the offering. “Thank you, (Name),” he grinned. “Yours is coming soon,” you promised Scott with bright eyes. Then you turned away, heading to the convenience store.
Scott watched you go, oblivious to Javi watching him. You bounced, that’s the thing about you, you didn’t walk you practically bounced, towards the store, when you were stopped by Tyler.
Scott’s jaw clenched.
He couldn’t hear what Tyler was saying to you from the distance he was at, but he watched you smile and greet the hillbilly warmly.
“You’re glaring holes into their heads,” Javi commented, and Scott’s attention was torn away. “What? No. Shut up.” He scowled. Javi chuckled. “Whatever you say, man.”
Scott turned back just in time to watch you wave goodbye to Tyler with a grin on your face. He rolled his eyes and turned back to Javi to talk about their plan for the day.
Ten minutes later, it was time to head out, and when Scott opened the passenger side door, Javi was driving, there was a pack of gum and a coke on his seat.
That night, you were curled up in your bed in the motel Storm Par was staying at. You were working on Scott’s bracelet, as you’d promised him. Everyone in Storm Par had a bracelet (Scott had noticed earlier), and Scott’s was the last one. You wanted to take your time with it; Scott was your favorite.
You made it blue, his favorite color. You added the final touches before snuggling into bed, giddy to give it to him tomorrow.
The next day came and you didn’t have a single opportunity to see Scott. He wasn’t at breakfast, and as you usually (unfortunately) were, you weren’t in the same truck today. So when Storm Par stopped at a gas station, you did with the bracelet what you did with everything else you got Scott: left it on his seat.
Scott was in a bad mood today. No particular reason why, he’d just woken up on the wrong side of the motel bed. Javi was avoiding him; Scott didn’t blame him, his bad moods were infamous. Despite getting out of the truck to use the bathroom, Scott didn’t feel like standing outside and socializing, so he went to get back in the truck when he was done.
He stopped in his tracks when he opened the door. On his seat was a bracelet, matching the ones the other Storm Par members wore. The bracelet you’d promised him.
Suddenly, everything clicked. It was you, who always left him his favorite snacks, his favorite gum, his favorite drinks, stupid little tchotchkes. He picked up the bracelet, turning it over in his hand.
His cheeks warmed.
“Hey!” Your cheerful voice suddenly behind him almost made him jump. He turned to face you, face neutrally blank. Your eyes fell to the bracelet he was holding. “I see you got my gift.”
“I did,” Scott confirmed. “And I suppose it’s you who’s been leaving me all the snacks and gum and stuff.” You blushed. “Yeah, I hope that’s not weird or anything.”
“No, it’s…” Scott swallowed. “Sweet.”
You smiled bashfully. “Not creepy?” you joked. Scott shook his head, a smile tugging at his lips. “Well, maybe it’s a little creepy that you know all my favorites.”
You turned your nose up. “I’m observant,” you smirked.
Scott looked like he wanted to say more and you waited, but he was cut off by someone shouting your name. You looked over your shoulder and he looked over you to see… Tyler. He frowned.
“Well, I hope you like the bracelet.” You turned back to him. “I made it with lots of love. We leaving in five?” Scott nodded wordlessly, his eyes tracking you as you ran over to Tyler.
“So you figured it out,” Javi smirked, coming up beside Scott. Scott chomped on his gum. “That she’s the one who’s been leaving me stuff?” Javi caught Scott fiddling with his bracelet. He let out a whistle. “Oh she likes you.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean all of our bracelets are matching to a degree but they’re each personally customized. Your bracelet is like an exact match to hers. How cute.”
Scott hadn’t even noticed. “Doesn’t mean anything,” he mumbled.
Javi rolled his eyes. “Oh come on, Scott. She knows your favorite snacks and drinks, hell, she knows your favorite gum. She goes out of her way to get something for you every time we stop. She doesn’t do that for anyone else, not even me. She made you matching bracelets.”
Scott was glaring daggers at Tyler as he pulled you into a hug. Javi followed his gaze. “She likes you, man. Go do something about it.”
Before Scott could stop himself, he found himself marching over to you and Tyler, fist clenched. “Well howdy, Clipboard,” Tyler greeted, noticing Scott before you did. You turned around, smiling when you saw him. “Scott–”
You were abruptly cut off when Scott stopped in front of you, leaned down, and pressed his lips to yours roughly. Immediately forgetting you had an audience, you melted into the kiss, closing your eyes and resting your hands on Scott’s chest, gripping the material of his shirt.
Scott pulled back after a moment, leaving you stunned. He rested his hand on your waist, pulling you into his side. He squared up to Tyler. “Back off, Owens.”
Tyler grinned, eyes shifting from Scott’s scowl to your shocked face. He raised his hands in surrender and walked away, still with that shit-eating grin.
Scott led you back to Storm Par.
“Well that’s one way to do it,” Javi smirked.

Tiny Tornado
Summary: Tyler Owens x fe!Reader -> When a tornado rips through a rodeo, you save a life you weren't expecting to have to save. Upon taking them home, Tyler comes to find out they're a Tiny Tornado.
Disclaimer: This fic does include child abandonment in the beginning, as well as damage done by tornadoes, angst. Happy ending. Slow burn romance, Wranglers being a family and the ultimate Aunties and Uncles, fluffy and funny moments, Tyler and Reader being parents. Not Proof Read.
Country music blasted over the speakers across the rodeo, different voices speaking over the lyrics as they announced which activities were about to start and when you could find them.
Like every summer, you volunteered at the rodeo to help out with crowd control whilst the others did their part. Tyler was helping around the rodeo cowboys, talking some of them through their fear before they mounted a bull for the first time in front of the mass crowd.
Dani, Dexter and Kate had set up a stall to provide information about their work, raise some money to help feed the families who were affected by the tornadoes that tore through homes.
Javi was on crowd control with you, helping those who were lost or in need of directions. Meanwhile, Lily and Boone were by the kids tent showing them footage of different tornadoes, explaining why they can be scary but that they don’t have to be afraid of them.
And everything was going great until the sirens started.
People started running, horses were set loose, bulls were either left or ushered towards their pens. Finding your fellow Wranglers, you all started directing everyone to safety whilst you all started running yourselves.
Javi helped a four year old who had fallen into the ground, her mom thanking Javi before running along with him. Boone and Lily kept an eye on the kids as they ran towards their parents, grabbing their hands for dear life.
However, as you ran past the stalls, colliding into Tyler, you spotted a box under the stands.
It was moving.
“Come on! We gotta go!”
Tyler tried to pull you with him, but your eyes remained fixed on the box. Maybe it was just the wind.
But it wasn’t.
Over the yelling, and the wind, and the tramping of feet, you heard a scream.
A baby’s cry.
Breaking free from Tyler’s grasp, you heard him yell for you but you remained focused on the box under the stands. Why was there a baby in a box? Had someone left them? Who would leave a baby in the middle of a rodeo?
Feeling your hand slip from his, Tyler turned and called your name but you ignored him. He tried to run after you, only to be cut off by a horse.
“Whoa!”
He slipped in the grass but managed to regain his balance just as you came to a stop by a cardboard box.
The sirens were getting louder, and so was the wind. You didn’t have much time.
“Y/n! Come on! We’ve got to-”
Tyler stopped talking as he saw what you lifted from the box. Was it what he thought it was?
He didn’t have long to think because in the distance he could see a growing dark cloud, ready to tear everything from the ground.
“Y/n!”
Finally you looked up and ran towards him. Holding the baby to your chest, he placed an arm around you, both of you ducking as something came flying behind you.
“Come on, we need to get somewhere safe.”
And you did.
Reaching a mechanics garage, Tyler looked behind him finding people either running towards their cars. He yelled but they didn’t hear him.
The tornado was only getting closer.
So he ran.
Running and letting the door close, he ran into the pit before crouching beside you.
You lowered the baby from your chest to take a look at them. They were wrapped in a sage green baby blanket, a note clipped to it which you were yet to look at.
“Can’t be more than five months.”
“How can someone leave a baby alone like that?”
With a loud crashing sound, you cradled the baby as Tyler turned his body towards you, covering you from the noise.
The baby cried out and all you could do was wrap the blanket tighter around them and try to cover their ears with your hand.
“It’s okay, it’ll be over soon.” You heard Tyler say.
Around you, there were kids no more than seven, cradling themselves into their parents. Some were crying, their parents comforting them; others were trying their best to be brave and seeing Tyler – the Youtube famous Tornado Wrangler – made them braver. Especially when they heard him say it would be over soon.
From the back, one of the children stood up, shouting out for their mom. Standing, Lily ran towards the back and sat down with the kid.
“It’s okay, we’ll find your mom. But we need to stay down, okay?” A loud crash came through the top of the garage and Lily covered the child as best as she could.
You didn’t know how long it lasted. The wind just seemed to get louder and louder, more things flew in and out of the garage before finally the noise stopped.
Everyone stayed down for a few minutes before standing, Kate and Javi moved to check outside before coming back and helping people up and back outside.
Most places were trashed. Tents were blown across the field, food scraps melted in with the mud and dirt, and plenty of trucks and cars had been spun and flipped around the place.
But you still held a baby in your arms.
“It’s okay, it’s okay. We’re safe now. You’re safe.”
It took a moment but you finally managed to settle the baby before Javi walked over to check on you. “Is that a baby?”
You nodded. “Someone left them in a box. If I hadn’t spotted it…”
Javi placed an arm around you. “Maybe we can find someone. I’ll go with you.”
After three hours and two different phone calls being made to social services and a ton of others being made to local foster homes – most of which had been hit by the tornado, too – you were in the passenger seat of Tyler’s truck as they drove back to Kate’s farm.
She’d left not long after helping people out of the garage; fearful the tornado would take a turn and head towards her mom.
The others stayed to help whilst Tyler took you back. He’d resupply and head back once he knew you were okay.
“Have you read the note yet?”
You shook your head, plucking it from the blanket. “Who can just leave a baby like that? In the middle of a rodeo? What if I hadn’t spotted it? What if-”
“You can’t torture yourself with what if’s. You found ‘em. That’s what matters.”
You took a breath and looked down at the baby in front of you, sound asleep. So innocent, so tiny in comparison to the rest of the world.
Looking at the paper, you read the cover.
I’m Sorry.
Flipping it open, you read the short letter out loud.
To whoever finds her,
With everyone at the rodeo, I know she’ll be safe. It’s my hope one good family will take her in. I thought I could help her, but I can’t. Maybe you can.
Please keep her safe
Tyler looked over at you from where he sat. “What? No name?”
You shook your head. “Apparently not.”
“Is her birth registered?”
You shrugged your shoulders. “No idea.”
“Then we should name her.”
You looked at Tyler. “Can we even do that?”
“We can’t just keep calling her ‘her’, can we?”
“No, I suppose not.” Looking down as the sleeping baby in your arms, you spoke out loud. “What is your name, little one?”
As Tyler pulled into the driveway, he hopped out and rounded the truck to help you out as Kate and Cathy came to the front door.
“Oh, the poor thing. Kate told me. I’ve set up a cot in the attic room. It’s the warmest room in the house.”
“Thanks, Cathy.”
“What did the cops say?”
Cathy followed you up the stairs, Kate going out to help Tyler load up the truck with fresh supplies.
“That she has to stay with me for a few days until social services get in contact. Most homes have been taken out in the storm so there’s no-one to take her. And I didn’t like the idea of not knowing what’s going to happen.”
Cathy nodded. “I would have done the same thing. Do you know what you’re doing?”
You sighed. “Not really. I’ve never exactly found a baby in the middle of a tornado before.”
Cathy just graced you with a warm smile. “We’ll all help out. This kid won’t have to worry about anything.”
It wasn’t until just after two in the morning that everyone came back, instantly crashing into their beds. But Tyler waited.
“She’s up in the attic.”
“Thank you.”
You heard Tyler’s footsteps walking down the hall before the door clicked open. “I’m still awake. It’s okay. Come on in.”
He slipped his boots off by the door before closing it behind him.
“How is everyone?”
“Tired.” Tyler answered truthfully. “How are you?”
Tyler stood beside the crib where your hand was in between the bars, holding onto the baby’s hand. Gently, Tyler lifted up the blanket that had dipped a little before laying his finger in the baby’s other hand.
Almost instantly, their fingers curled around his finger. Her head turned towards him before she sighed constantly and relaxed again.
“I think she likes you.” You smiled at Tyler from where you lay in bed.
Tyler couldn’t help but smile as he looked back at the baby. “Not a care in the world. Have you thought of a name yet?”
You shook your head. “Not yet. I was hoping the others could help. Cathy says she has a baby book somewhere filled with names.”
Slowly, making sure not to hit the creaky parts of the floor, he walked to the other side of the bed and lay on top of the covers with you.
“We’ll find a name.”
It was laying in the silence, hearing the content snores from the baby, that sent you and Tyler into a deep sleep. When you woke up, your hand was back on your bed and the baby was no longer in her crib.
For a moment, you panicked. Until you saw Tyler stood by the dresser, talking quietly to her.
“You’re lucky I know how to do this, or else I’d be asking Boone for help and as much as he’s my best friend, he’s not the person I’d want to ask.” Tyler said to her. “You know, he once did a backflip off the top of my truck. Yeah, just did it. Right there. And as cool as it was, I did think we were about to end up in the ER. Point is – don’t follow Boone’s idea of backflipping off a truck. It’s very dangerous.”
Clasping the baby grow shut, Tyler placed the dirty diaper into a diaper bag and threw it into the lined trash can beside him with the other diaper wipes.
Then you saw an image that your ovaries would never let you forget.
A freshly washed Tyler dressed in a clean white t-shirt and jeans, lifting up a baby before holding her against his chest and walking around the small floor before taking her to the window, showing her the view.
“You’re a natural.”
Tyler turned his head and looked at you before smiling. “Hey, you’re awake. How’d you sleep?”
You nodded. “Pretty good. How long have you been up?”
“Only about an hour. She woke up like thirty minutes ago. I didn’t want to disturb you.”
You smiled. “Thanks.”
Twenty minutes later, you showered yourself and got dressed before meeting Tyler downstairs where Cathy was teaching him how to properly burp her.
Of course, everyone had a thousand questions so once the understandable questions were cleared up, you were all sat in the living room, the baby on Kate’s knee, going over baby names.
“I never knew so much went into naming a baby.”
Cathy nodded. “It sets them up for the rest of their lives. God knows it took me long enough to choose Kate’s.”
“Really?” She asked.
Cathy nodded. “Your dad and I vetoed a lot of names in the beginning. It wasn’t until the midwife came running up our driveway after her shift had finished that I decided on a name.”
Dexter flipped through the book before offering up a name. Nobody agreed on it.
It wasn’t until after an entire day of going through baby names, different meanings, past relationships with the different names – some good, some bad – that a name was found.
Despite having napped, eaten, burped and a fresh diaper, she just wouldn’t settle. Until Dexter took her outside to look up at the stars in the sky.
By the time you walked out onto the porch, standing beside Tyler, Dexter was pointing up at the different constellations and explaining each one and what they meant.
“I don’t know how he does it, but he’d settled her.”
“It’s because he’s calming,” you said. “If anyone was going to be calm enough to settle her, it would be Dex.”
Tyler smiled. “Any word from the social?”
You shook your head as you shoved your hands into your back pockets. “Not yet. They’re looking for a home but, in the meantime, she’s stuck with us. They’re sending out a social worker tomorrow to come and look at the place to make sure she’s not in any immediate danger with us.”
Tyler nodded. “We still need to find her a name.”
You sighed. “I know.”
Looking back out to Dexter and the baby, you leaned your head against Tyler’s shoulder.
“And no matter where you are in the world, you can just look up at the sky and know we’re looking at the same one.” Dexter told her. “I don’t know how long you’re gonna be with us, kiddo. But…if you remember us, or need some help, there’s a chance the stars will be able to show you.”
As Dexter looked up into the sky and back down to the baby, the stars reflecting in her eyes, something hit him.
He turned around quickly. “SKYE!”
You and Tyler stood tall and looked at each other before looking back. “What?”
Dexter walked over to you both. “Skye. Her name. We could call her Skye.”
You and Tyler looked at each other before looking down at the baby. “Do you like that name?”
She definitely looked like a Skye. And by the happy babble she gave, she seemed to agree.
Tyler looked at you. “Skye it is, then. Guys! Come out here!”
Following one by one, they all appeared on the porch. “Dexter’s found her name.”
They all looked at him, hopeful.
“Skye.”
They all gave an ‘aww’. “Skye. Hi, Skye.”
Beside Tyler, Boone almost collapsed. “Man, I tell you. Choosing a baby name is hard.”
Tyler chuckled. “Maybe you can find another way to use those post-it notes.”
So, finally she had a name.
All she needed was a home.
But from the social worker’s inspection, she had already found one.
She came over three times in the space of two weeks, surprising everyone each time. But each time, her report came out better than the last until she made you an offer.
“Now, we can take her into foster care. There are a few homes a couple towns over but there’s no guarantee for adoption. Between the recent tornadoes and the cost of living recently, the cost of taking in a baby this young…it’s rare we’re gonna find a couple willing to take her in permanently. But, myself and my colleagues do believe the best place for Skye is here.”
You couldn’t deny you hadn’t grown attached to her. Nobody could. You’d all found a new routine that easily fitted around her, and deep down, none of you wanted it any other way. But was a Tornado family truly the best place?
“If you didn’t already have a home base, we wouldn’t have considered it so quickly. But…” The social worker looked around. “You’ve got a good home here. Space for her to run around, plenty of people willing to help. So, if any of you would, in fact, wish to take Skye on permanently, I can help you do so.”
With Skye in your arms, you looked around at the rest of the Wranglers. They’d all been in tears for the last two days, figuring out how to say goodbye to her since you’d all been under the belief the social worker was getting ready to take her away.
“I…”
You looked at Tyler and the others. Then Lily leaned forward. “Can we talk about it, first?”
The social worker nodded. “Of course. This isn’t a light decision to be made. And it doesn’t have to be right away, but until you do make a decision, Skye will be taken into a foster home.”
Then Cathy stood. “It’s your decision. If you choose to keep her…her room is already set up.” Once more, she graced you with a warm smile before inviting the social worker into the kitchen for a drink. Then everyone took a seat.
“It’s a big decision.”
“Are we sure tornado wrangling is the place for a kid?”
“It’s not like we’d be taking her with us into a tornado.”
“We can all split the duties.”
“But if we keep her, one of us is going to have to adopt her. We can’t all be on the birth certificate.”
“Do we even know what we’re doing? Shouldn’t she be with a less adrenaline driven family?”
“They do say kids have less allergies growing up on a farm. They have more compassion and understanding of the world.”
“And we can help her with her homework.”
“Two of my childhood friends are now teachers at our old school.” Kate mentioned. “So it’s a good school district.”
It was another ten minutes of similar discussions until eventually Dani spoke up.
“You guys know what we’re doing?”
The other’s didn’t seem to catch on to what they were doing. But you did.
Looking down at the sleepy baby in your arms, you felt yourself smile. “We’re planning our lives with her. I can’t imagine a life without her.”
“Neither can I.” Lily leaned over, stroking Skye’s arm.
“Neither can I.” Boone joined, leaning over the back of the sofa.
Dani was in agreement, then Javi, Kate, Dexter and finally Tyler.
Crouching on the floor in front of you, Tyler looked at you. “So, we’re doing this?”
You both looked around at the others, them looking back.
“We’re doing this.”
~~~~~~
The sun had been beating down all day. Yourself and the Wranglers had managed to chase the third EF-2 of the week and were finally putting the data through its paces. And just as the hum of the barn wrapped around you all for the second time that hour, you heard a familiar set of giggles.
“Momma!”
Skye giggled and shrieked as she looked behind her before running through the barn and towards you. Sliding away from your desk, you opened your arms and she jumped into them as quickly as she could.
“Quick, you’ve gotta hide me.”
“Hide you? Why?”
Then you heard Boone’s voice from outside the barn door. “I’m the big, scary monster.”
Skye shrieked again before she wiggled from your grasp and hid under your desk. As you looked at her, she placed her finger against her lips and you nodded before you rolled your chair back towards your desk.
Boone continued his act of being the big scary monster, calling out for his new best friend he was playing hide and seek with.
“I’m sorry Mr Monster, I haven’t seen Skye anywhere.”
Boone pouted. “Mr Monster’s sad. He can’t find his best friend.”
Then from under Kate’s desk, Skye ran out and around. “I’m here!”
“Best friend!”
Boone scooped her up into his arms, her giggles filling the entire barn. You’d never get tired of hearing her laugh.
“Do I hear a Tiny Tornado in here?”
Skye leaned up high and gasped. “Let me down, let me down.”
Boone set her on her feet. “There you go, kid.”
“Yay!”
Running directly back down to the barn doors, Tyler dropped the pile of rope he was carrying over his shoulder, to the ground beside him. As Skye reached him, he bent down before he lifted her into the air, and he swung her back into his arms.
“How’s your day been, kiddo?”
“Aun’y Cathy teached me to ride a ‘orse.”
“Taught!” You called out to Skye.
Tyler nodded. “Your mom’s right. She taught you to ride a horse.”
“She taught me to ‘ide and ‘orse.”
Tyler smiled. “Did you enjoy it?”
Skye nodded. “She promised to show me tomorrow.”
Tyler smiled, “Well, in that case, you’re gonna need your own hat.”
From your desk, you watched as Tyler set Skye onto her feet before he reached for something just outside the barn doors. Then, with one knee on the floor, Tyler pulled her to stand a little closer.
“This right ‘ere. This was my first cowboy hat.”
Skye’s eyes lit up. You could all see her practically vibrating on the spot as she gasped and tried to stay still.
“And since Cathy tells me you did such a good job with the horses today, I think it’s only right you get your own.”
“Really?”
Tyler nodded. “‘Course, kiddo.”
“So, Boone, you recording this?” Tyler turned back to Skye. “S’ not everyday a girl gets ‘er first hat.”
Boone pressed record as everyone came and stood around her, Dani and Kate giving their own rendition of a crowning ceremony theme.
And once the hat hit her head, Skye’s eyes kept looking up at it.
“What’d ya think, Momma?”
Skye turned to you, her eyes begging the same question Tyler just asked. And you could help but just smile.
“I think you look wonderful, little one.”
Skye started smiling even wider than before and jumping up and down before nearly knocking Tyler over with how tightly she hugged him. “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
“You’re welcome, kiddo.”
“Baby, you wanna go and show Cathy?”
Skye stood back and nodded. “Can I?”
You and Tyler nodded and with a hand on the top of her hat, she ran out of the barn and down the field towards Cathy.
“Thank you for doing that with her, Ty.”
Tyler just smiled. “She’s my Tiny Tornado.”
“You know, she’s not gonna wanna ever take it off.”
And it was true. Skye wore it whenever she could. Running through the fields, eating her dinner, taking a bath; she did try and keep it on when getting dressed, but it got knocked off her head a few times.
The only time she took it off was when she saw Tyler take his own off when he hung it by the door. Coming down the stairs, you saw two cowboy hats hanging by the door and it made your heart melt.
And it only melted even more when you walked onto the back porch and found Skye cuddled up and falling fast asleep on Tyler’s chest.
An image like that one was one that you loved to see. It happened almost every night. Tyler was the one she would fall asleep on. Sometimes it would be in Lily’s lap when she played with her hair or when Dexter would tell her all about the stars.
Skye would fight sleep when she was learning but eventually sleep would win.
And she’d only fall deeper into sleep when Tyler began to lightly swing the porch seat.
“Can you believe she’s almost four?” You asked Tyler later that evening as you both folded what was left of the bed sheets and clothes. The others had long since gone to bed.
It was like that most nights; you and Tyler the last to go to bed.
Tyler shook his head. “Feels like only yesterday we registered her birth.”
“Before we know it, she’ll be off to college.”
Tyler chuckled. “We’ve still got years before that happens, but…I know what you mean. She’s growing up.”
“She’s learning how to ride a horse. Before we know it, she’ll be taming a tornado.”
Tyler smiled. “I don’t call her a Tiny Tornado for nothing.”
You smiled at a memory. “Did you see she hung her hat up, same as you?”
Tyler shook his head and disappeared into the hallway before coming back. “I think that’s officially the cutest thing I’ve seen today.”
“I know you’re not down on her birth certificate, but…you are her dad, Tyler.” You told him. “She loves you like one, and I know you love her as a daughter. I…I just wanted to tell you that.”
Tyler smiled. “Thank you.”
Forcing your gaze away from his, you looked back to the freshly folded clothes. “We should get to bed. God only knows what time that kid’ll wake up to be outside with Cathy and the horses.”
Tyler chuckled, “You’re right. Goodnight.”
“Night, Ty.”
Tyler watched as you climbed the stairs with the washing basket of freshly folded clothes and he waited until he heard your door click shut before he made his rounds around the house, locking the place up.
And as he lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, he wondered if he would ever be brave enough to tell you the truth about his feelings.
But apparently, the Tiny Tornado had enough courage to do that for the both of you.
It was a few weeks later, sitting at the breakfast table that Skye asked a question that nobody had been expecting.
“What’s a romance?”
Swinging her legs over the edge of the table chair as she waited on her cereal, Skye didn’t know what kind of bomb she was about to drop.
“Why do you wanna know, kiddo?” Dani asked as she handed Skye her bowl of coco pops.
Skye just shrugged. “That’s what Boone called my princess book.”
“Well, it’s not a bad thing.” Lily assured the little girl. “In fact, it’s something really, really good.”
“Is it?”
You nodded. “Yep.”
As Tyler placed his plate down on the table, he sat down beside Skye. “And there isn’t just one kind, either.”
“There isn’t?”
Javi chuckled from where he was leaning against the dishwasher. “Maybe you wanna explain what a romance is first, before you tell her there’s more than one.”
And so they did.
“It’s when two people meet in a story and they fall in love. So, like with Cinderella. You know how she meets Prince Charming but he doesn’t know who she is until she puts on the glass slipper and then they live happily ever after?”
Skye nodded at Cathy.
“Well, that’s a romance. It’s when two people fall in love and live happily ever after.”
For a moment, you felt a pair of eyes fall on you, but when you looked up, he was looking back at Skye.
“But there’s more than one?”
Crouching beside her, Dani explained. “You know how Dexter has all those books in the back of his camper?”
Skye nodded.
“Well, think of a romance like them. Each one has a different story.”
“Like Disney Princesses?”
Dani nodded. “Exactly like Disney Princesses. Sometimes they don’t know who the other person is until the big reveal, sometimes they’re childhood friends who fall in love when they meet again, sometimes they’re mortal enemies and think they don’t like each other until something makes them realise they don’t hate that person anymore.”
“Ooh, like Princess Diaries!”
Everyone, including Skye, turned and looked at Javi.
“What? It’s a good film.”
“Are there any other romances?”
Dani nodded. “Sure there is. Umm…”
Dani looked around the kitchen for help.
“Sometimes they’re soulmates who fall in love in every universe.” Skye gave a confused look, so Lily added; “Like the stories in the stars.”
“It can be love at first sight,” you told Skye.
“Sometimes they can be best friends and not realise they’re in love, even though everyone else can see it.” Cathy mentioned.
Then Skye dropped a tornado that was far too extreme to deal with at eight in the morning.
“Oh, like Momma and Tyler.”
The entire kitchen went silent. Javi, mid chew, looked over at Tyler who was turning redder by the minute as he looked at you by the stove, standing incredibly still.
Skye looked around, a little confused about what she had said. “What? What is it?”
You turned and looked at your daughter, speaking to her just as Tyler did.
“Nothing, honey-”
Just as you and Tyler locked eyes, the tension sparking from both of you, Boone barrelled through the back door with Dexter not too far behind him.
“Told you I could run it quicker, man.”
“A car is still faster.” Dexter told Boone.
Then they looked around, noticing the sheepish looks on everyone’s faces.
“Hey, what happened here?” Boone asked.
Lily stood, coming to your rescue. “Nothing. Did you get the-” She looked inside the brown paper bag. “YES! Waffles!”
As commotion started up in the kitchen again, Skye looked up at you from her seat as you handed her a spoon. “Momma, did I do something wrong?”
You shook your head. “No, baby.” Pressing a kiss to the top of her head, you sneaked a glance over at Tyler before forcing a smile back on your face to look at Skye.
“Eat up, honey. You’ve got a long day ahead of you.”
“Okay, Momma.”
For the rest of the day, you and Tyler avoided each other. Cathy apologised to both of you for having given the example in the first place, but she made sure to tell you she thought Skye was right.
“You’ve been pining after her for years.” Cathy told Tyler as he lifted another hay bale onto the back of the truck.
“We work together, Cathy. Nothing can happen there.”
“The hell it can’t.” Tyler looked at her. “Tyler, you and Y/n have been practically raising a kid together for almost four years. From day one of you getting here, I’ve seen how you look at her. And I know the others agree with me.”
Tyler stood tall. “How do the other’s know?”
Cathy just gave him a look.
“Either way, the kid is right. You’re both in love with each other, you’re both just too chicken to do something about it.”
Cathy gave a similar speech to you, too, when you came to check on Skye at the stables.
“And if you’re about to tell me you’re worried about Skye, don’t. Whether his name is on her birth certificate or not; whether she calls him dad or not. He is her dad. She is his daughter. Nothing will ever change that. Ever.”
With a short sigh, you looked out into the field where Skye was carrying a small bucket of water around to each of the garden plots.
Similar conversations were had throughout the day until the late afternoon rolled in and Tyler and you had to awkward dance-shuffle around each other to get in and out of the house whilst trying to avoid all sense of eye contact, but giving plenty when the other wasn’t looking.
Unbeknownst to both yourself and Tyler, Skye was standing on the fence bars with Kate.
The kid sighed heavily. “They’re always like that.”
“You’ve only been here for four years, kid. Imagine being here seven.”
Skye gasped. “Seven?” She tried to count that on her fingers quickly, but needed Kate’s help. Skye gasped again. “That’s bigger than me.”
Kate hummed as she nodded.
“Is this like one of the romances from before?” Skye sounded out.
Kate nodded. “I’m afraid so, kiddo. I’m afraid so.”
And unbeknownst to Kate at that moment, Skye was hatching a plan. But she needed her best friend’s help.
“Can you help me down?”
“‘Course, honey. Ready, three, two, one, jump.”
“Weeeee.” Holding onto her securely, Kate lifted Skey from the bars and set her down on the ground beside her.
“Thanks, Kate.”
“Be careful, honey!”
“I will!”
Less than five minutes later she burst through the barn doors and ran towards Boone, yelling out his name over and over again.
“Slow your roll there, kiddo.”
“I need your help, now, come on.” She tugged Boone’s hand until he was stood up. “Come on, come on, come on.”
Skye dragged him towards the carrot beds before laying on the dirt, telling him to join her. And so they hatched a plan.
“You’re a genius, Skye.”
“What’s a gen…gen..igus?”
“Genius.” Boone smiled. “It’s like a crazy smart person.”
“Oh, cool.”
High fiving, they got to work. Everyone had their orders to be in bed early. They couldn’t know why, but they all agreed. And Skye’s plan of laying in the dirt worked because the minute she came running through the back door, you caught her mid run.
“Where do you think you’re going, little miss?”
Skye smiled like butter wouldn’t melt. “To the table.”
“Covered in muck? What have you been doing? Rolling in the muck? Come on, bathroom.”
You ran Skye a bath before shoving her dirty clothes into the washing machine with the rest of the dirty laundry. Twenty minutes later, the mud Skye had collected on her person was washed down the drain and she was in a fresh pair of pajamas.
The rest of the night ran smoothly enough. Dinner was made and eaten, updates were shared about work, and Skye had asked Tyler to read her a bedtime story.
He read two stories before she began falling asleep beside him so sitting up, he laid her down under her covers before tucking her in.
And just as he shut the book and laid it on her nightstand, he opened her eyes and looked at Tyler.
“Do you love Momma?”
Tyler felt his cheeks heat. “Get some sleep. You’ve got a big day tomorrow.”
“But do you love her? Like in the stories?”
Tyler looked at his daughter. “What’s got you so interested all of a sudden?”
“Lily told me what soulmates means.”
“Did she now?”
Skye nodded. “That’s you and Momma.”
“Skye-”
“Do you love her?”
Looking at Skye, Tyler felt his heart tug inside of his chest. He couldn’t lie to her.
“More than she’ll ever know. More than I’ll ever be able to tell her.” Tyler admitted, unaware of the presence just outside the door.
“I think you should tell her.”
The corner of Tyler’s mouth curved into a smile. “Do you now?”
Yawning, Skye nodded. But then Tyler sighed. “It’s not that simple, honey.”
“But what if she floats away like Mary?”
Tyler’s brows furrowed. “Mary?”
“Poppins. Burt never got to tell her he loved her.”
Tyler chuckled. “Skye, your mom isn’t going to float away. Now, close your eyes and get some sleep.”
Leaning over, Tyler kissed the top of her head. “Goodnight, my Tiny Tornado.”
Then he flicked the lamp off; only Skye wasn’t finished.
“If you love her, you should tell her.”
In the moonlight darkness, Tyler saw the look his daughter was giving him. She was pleading with him.
And if a four year old could see it and say it…
He leaned back down and kissed her head. “Go to sleep. We’ll see you in the morning. I love you.”
Skye yawned. “I love you, too. Goodnight, daddy.”
It wasn’t the first time Skye had called him that. Usually it happened in moments like this, where she was really tired and already half awake and half asleep. But it made his heart soar out of his chest all the same.
Quietly leaving the room, he closed the door behind him and waited there for a moment. The lights were off around most of the house since everyone had gone to bed once Skye had said she was.
But one light was still on.
And he knew who it belonged to.
Walking down the hallway, Tyler waited by the edge of the hallway for a moment, just watching you fold some more fresh laundry whilst he prepared what he was going to say.
“Hey.”
That seemed like a good start.
You looked up, a little startled. “Hey. She asleep?”
Tyler nodded and walked further into the living room before taking a seat on the arm of the chair, pulling a few items from the laundry pile to fold.
A slightly awkward silence settled over you both for a moment.
“Listen, about this morning-”
“She was right.” Tyler said, looking at you. “Skye was right. This morning, she was right. With everything that she said.”
“Tyler-”
He stood up. “No, just. Just wait. Please. Let…let me get this out? And then if you want me to leave and never talk about it again, I will.” You couldn’t speak so you just nodded and listened as he continued. “Skye was right. I am in love with you. I have always been in love with you. I think I always will be. I know there’s a lot to consider; work, home and, most importantly, Skye. But if…” Tyler took a breath. “If there’s any part of you that feels the same…I think we should do something about it.”
“Finally taking our daughter’s advice?”
Tyler was shocked but a small smile came to your face. “I wasn’t spying or anything. I was walking down the hall and I heard Skye and…thinking about it, maybe I was spying.”
Tyler chuckled.
“But you’re right.” You told him. “You’re both right. I don’t know when my feelings changed for you, but I know what I feel today, what I feel when I see you with Skye, and what I feel when you look at me. I’m in love with you, too, Tyler.”
“You are?” You nodded. “You’re not just saying-”
You shook your head. “I’m saying it because it’s the truth.”
So, standing in the middle of the dimly lit living room, you and Tyler looked at each other. One of his hands in yours, your other resting on his wrist as he pushed his hand under your hair to cup your cheek.
“Kiss her.”
The small and familiar voice made both of you and Tyler turn to look at the corridor. Skye stood, trying her best to hide, behind the lamp and the table it sat on.
Tyler looked back at you with a smile which you both shared.
“Can’t go against orders, can we?”
You shook your head. “No, we can’t.”
Finally feeling him kiss you was like a thousand dreams were shattering, only to be replaced with the fact that the reality of Tyler was much better than the fantasy you’d granted yourself.
And, as it turned out, having you and Tyler finally grant yourselves permission to be open about your feelings for one another didn’t change much in terms of routine, save for a few more morning kisses before breakfast and quick pecks to the lips or cheek throughout the day when passing each other.
It was definitely no surprise how Skye had come to the conclusion that you and Tyler were in love before you’d both admitted it to yourselves.
Series Masterlist
The next morning, Tyler knocked on your door at exactly 7:30. You were actually pretty sure you heard him walk up a few minutes before, but you hadn’t peeked out because you wanted to see how long he would stand there before announcing himself. However, the second he knocked, you swung open the door with your bag slung over your shoulder and your sunglasses snuggly settled on your face. Tyler’s hand was still raised, leaning forward to knock again, and he was taken off guard. You bit your lip to hide your smile as he quickly caught himself and straightened up.
He was wearing what appeared to be the same boots and jeans from the night before (you had noticed a small oil stain on his right thigh when he was driving), but he had exchanged his flannel shirt for a dark maroon long-sleeved denim button-down, his sunglasses tucked into the collar. And of course, his off-white cowboy hat was proudly perched on top of his head.
You, on the other hand, had opted for an outfit rather different from the one you wore the previous night. Gone was the plunging, sheer top and itty-bitty cut-offs. Instead, you chose a comfortably fitting faded band shirt and mid-thigh cargo shorts. You had spent way too long considering your attire for the day and what Tyler may think of each option, but you finally settled on something less impressive but more yourself. It still made you feel attractive, yet comfortable.
And based on the way his eyes roamed across your body, Tyler approved of this decision. “Good morning, sweetheart. You look as beautiful as ever.”
“Thank you,” you said, stepping out into the hall and using the fact you had to lock the door as a reason to hide your face for a moment. “I wasn’t sure what one was supposed to wear to go tornado wranglin’ but this seemed like a safe choice.”
“Unlike your brother’s team, we don’t do uniforms or dress codes so whatever you wanted to wear would have been fine. In fact, just for the hell of it, Boone and I have gone on a few chases wearing nothing at all. But you won’t see those videos on our YouTube channel.” He winked at you before sliding your backpack off your shoulder and placing it on his own. Then he added, “Don’t get me wrong, I loved what you were wearing last night too, but this just…it feels more you.”
The butterflies that had laid dormant since last night once again sprang to life in your stomach. “Seems you’ve got me figured out pretty quickly there, Mr. Owens. Anything else you’ve noticed about me?”
“Let’s see…” Placing his arm over your shoulder, he began to steer you towards the stairs as he thought. “You have a sarcastic, confident shell you hide behind so people don’t see how vulnerable you feel. You know how to use your looks to your advantage in certain situations, but otherwise seem to forget how breathtaking you are. And—” you had started to turn at his last comment, but he placed his finger under your chin and tilted your head towards him “—you like to hide your face when someone compliments you, though I’m not sure yet if it’s because you don’t want them to see how their words affect you or if you don’t think you deserve the praise. Maybe a bit of both.”
You shifted under the weight of his sage-green gaze. “You make me sound like I’m heading into a battle with my armor, my weapon, and my shield.”
“Maybe you are. Is that how it feels to you?”
In fact, it sometimes was, though you weren’t going to admit that. You rolled your eyes instead, trying to hide how rattled you were by his spot-on assessment. “Geez, and here I thought you were a tornado wrangler, not a therapist.” Shifting the topic off of yourself, you asked, “When did you learn to read people so well?”
Now it was Tyler’s turn to become uncomfortable. His eyes flickered away for the first time and he muttered, “...I’d rather not say.”
If he had seemed hurt or sad or uneasy as the two of you made your way down to the first floor, you would have dropped it immediately. However, the way he avoided eye contact now after just staring at you so intently, plus the slight redness spreading up his neck and face, told you he was hiding it for a very different reason. And after all the times you had been embarrassed in front of him, you weren’t going to let this opportunity go.
You slipped from under his arm and turned to face him as you reached the top of the stairs. “Well, now you have to tell me! You can’t just tease me with something like that and expect me to drop it! Besides, all we’ve done since we met is talk about me and my messed up life. Let me learn something about you for once.”
He sighed, chewing on the inside of his lip, then said, “Okay, you asked.” As the two of you began walking down to the ground floor, he said, “Back before I got into storm chasing, I used to compete in the rodeo circuit.”
“Really?” you asked. “I didn’t know that. Have you ever mentioned that on your channel?”
“Nah. It was another life. But, one of the things you learn when you’re left staring down a 2,000-pound bull is how to be observant. You gotta notice every little shift or twitch he makes to predict what he’s gonna do and how to stay outta his way. And after a while, it just becomes a habit you do with everyone you meet.”
You raised one eyebrow. “Oh, so you noticed all those things about me because you were examining me like a bull about to charge you?”
“Pretty much, yeah,” he chuckled. “Which is why I didn’t want to tell you. Most girls don’t tend to like it when you compare them to a cow.”
“Well, I’m not most girls,” you said as you reached the bottom of the stairs and faced him once more.
He smiled, his eyes sparkling in the morning light. “I’ve noticed. You’re definitely keeping me on my toes.”
“Oh?” you asked, taking a step closer to him. “Afraid you won’t get out of my way in time?”
He leaned over until the brim of his hat just grazed the top of your head. “I haven’t decided if I want to yet.”
Staring into his eyes, you felt that same zap of electricity from the night before zooming through your body. You watched his tongue peek out, slowly wet his lips, and, without meaning to, you leaned in closer until—
Slam!
Jumping at the loud noise to your left, you and Tyler both turned to see Scott glaring at the two of you as the Storm PAR team swarmed around their vehicles, loading up their gear. Scott had just slammed the sliding door on the van marked “Wizard” and, after spitting his gum on the ground and popping in a new piece, eyes trained on you the entire time, he climbed into the front seat of Scarecrow and started the engine. You saw Javi approaching Lion and he lifted his hand, giving you a small, apologetic smile that you returned. Then he climbed into the truck and the Storm PAR team pulled out of the lot.
Whatever spell you and Tyler had been under now broken, you resumed walking towards the cluster of Wranglers’ vehicles. There was an awkward tension in the air you had never felt around him before and, in an attempt to break it, you asked, “So, is that how you read tornados so well? You approach them the same way you approached a bull?”
He shrugged, seemingly as happy to get back to the earlier conversation as you were. “More or less. There’s more science that goes into it but you just have to make careful observations and then, ultimately, go with your gut. Even if that means ignoring what all the data is telling you.”
“And that works?”
“Most of the time.”
“And when it doesn’t?”
He grinned as he approached the side of an old, beat-up camper van. “Then you better hope you have a great team watching your back.” With that, he banged twice on the side of the van.
The doors flew open and four people jumped out. You recognized them all from their YouTube videos as the other members of Tyler’s crew, but you couldn’t remember any of their names except for Boone. He was the other man you had seen with Tyler in the diner parking lot when you first arrived and he always manned the handheld camera in the videos, making commentary and jokes as Tyler drove them into a storm.
Tyler quickly introduced you to everyone. He had already filled them in on who you were and that you would be riding with them for the next week or so. You had been slightly worried about how they would feel about you tagging along given how Scott had responded to the idea of you going on a chase. However, they swarmed around you excitedly and immediately began to chat about how much you were going to love your first storm as if you had known them for ages.
It was such a stark difference from your brother’s reaction. Where he was instantly dismissive and challenged your bravery, each and every one of the Wranglers welcomed you with open arms, giving you heads-ups about what it would be like out there and assuring you it was fine to react in different ways. They even shared their various first storm chases and how they had responded (it was comforting to know that even Boone, who seemed as reckless and wild—if not more so—as Tyler, had torn a vocal chord “screaming like a little girl” the first time Tyler had planted the truck in the middle of a storm).
Your head was on a constant swivel as each of your four new friends talked over one another, and as you moved to turn from Dexter explaining the different tracking equipment the crew used to monitor storms to Dani explaining the upgrades that had been made to Tyler’s truck, you caught sight of Tyler. He was several feet away from the mob surrounding you, leaning his shoulder against the van with his arms folded across his chest, amusement gleaming in his eyes as he watched the chaos around you. Seeing the slight panic in your eyes, he chuckled softly to himself before pushing off the side of the van and clapping his hands to get everyone’s attention.
“All right guys, give her room to breathe. She’ll be here for at least a week so no need to tell her your whole life stories in the first five minutes. She’s still getting used to things around here and we don’t wanna scare her off.” As they all apologized and backed away, you tried to assure them you were fine but Tyler came over and placed his hands on your shoulders. “It’s alright, sweetheart, we’re just all a little excited to have some fresh blood around here. Now, Dexter, is there any breakfast left? I’m starved and I doubt she’s eaten either.”
You tried to insist you were fine, but the words died in your throat as Dexter opened the door to the camper van and the sticky sweet smell of freshly syruped pancakes hit your nose, eliciting a loud growl from your stomach. Tyler must have heard it because he chuckled and began directing you towards the van, walking behind you as he steered you by your shoulders.
As you ate, it was decided that today you would ride in the camper van with Dani and Dexter so you could get close to the storms, yet not have to immediately dive into one. At first, you wanted to object, thinking they meant that figuratively. But then you remembered the videos you had seen of Tyler and Boone driving straight into the center of a tornado, and, realizing they meant that literally, you agreed it was probably for the best. Part of you wanted to impress Tyler and jump into his truck anyway, but Scott’s comment that you would get too scared and force his team to end the chase early echoed in your mind.
You were still a little disappointed Tyler’s “embarrassing secret” he had tried to keep hidden this morning was not embarrassing at all. Instead, you had just prodded him into sharing something that made him seem infinitely cooler than he already had. And, once again, you were reminded of the fact that since you two had met, you had spent the majority of the time either complaining about how much of a jerk your brother was, how shitty of a person you used to be, or crying into his shoulder. Meanwhile, here he was, this daredevil tornado wrangler who learned how to read people by staring down deadly bulls for a living and looked like most women’s cowboy wet dream come to life.
You wanted to prove to him that you were more than what he had seen so far—that you were worthy of all the time and attention he was giving you. If you told Tyler you wanted to ride with him, you had no doubt he would let you. But what if Scott was right and you freaked out as soon as you neared a tornado? What if you had a panic attack or somehow caused the Wranglers to turn back instead of diving into the storm? They made their money—money they used to help others—from their videos. A video they would not be able to post if they couldn’t record a storm because you were having a complete meltdown.
So, at least for today, you climbed into the back of the camper van as everyone got ready to chase their first storm of the day.
Dani and Dexter were an interesting pair. Dani was brash and loud, riding with her boots propped up on the dashboard as she slouched in her seat, all the while telling you jokes and poking fun at the other Wranglers. Dexter was more reserved at first, but the longer Dani talked, the more comfortable he seemed and he began joining in. You could tell by how they interacted, often speaking over the other or laughing at a joke before it got to the punchline, that they spent a lot of time together and had a close bond. It was really nice to see. You thought about how stiff and professional the members of Storm PAR seemed and you found yet another reason to be thankful Scott had turned you away. There was no way you would be having this much fun with his team.
As time went on and the clouds above you began to darken, Dexter began to explain how storms were formed, what kinds of conditions were necessary for them, the destruction they could cause, and how much scientists still didn’t know about them. Dani rested her head in her hand, looking half-asleep as she struggled to listen to information you were sure she had heard a million times before, but you were captivated.
Just as Dexter began telling you how the radar in the center console worked, the radio crackled to life and Tyler’s voice, distorted slightly through the ancient speaker, came through. “You okay back there, sweetheart?” Dani picked up the receiver and passed it back to you. “Dani and Dexter aren’t just bickering the whole time, are they?”
You laughed as both Dani and Dexter objected to that statement. “No, they’re great. Dexter’s been teaching me all about the science behind the storms. It’s been much more interesting than those dry reports Scotty left behind.” You saw Dexter beaming in the rearview mirror and you smiled back at him.
“Well, just don’t let him get started on funnel formation or you might change your mind.” Dexter shot a stern glance at the radio as Dani looked out the window, swallowing a laugh. Then, lowering his voice slightly so it felt like he was speaking to you and you alone, Tyler said, “I can’t wait to get you up here with me so I can show you the storm through my eyes.”
Clutching the radio closer to your face, you smiled softly. “That sounds amazing. I can’t wait. And Tyler, I—” You wanted to thank him again for everything he was doing for you. For welcoming you into his life without a second thought and introducing you to these other people who were already starting to feel more like family than your own flesh-in-blood. But, more than that, you wanted to thank him for the way he always made you feel as if he was actually excited you were there—that you were wanted. But just as you were trying to find the words to express those feelings, you remembered the rest of the team could hear you and you quickly cleared your throat. “Um, just be safe up there. You can’t show me anything tomorrow if you do something stupid today.”
“You heard the lady, Boone. Guess we’re taking it easy today.” You heard Boone muttering his objection and you could almost see his pout through the radio. “Cell should be coming up on our left. Y’all enjoy the show.”
The radio clicked off, but you continued staring at the receiver, cupping it close to your chest as you thought about all the things you wished you had been able to say to him.
Glancing back at you, Dani and Dexter exchanged a look before chuckling to themselves. Looking up, you asked, “What?”
“Oh, nothing,” Dani said, examining her nails. “Just seems that someone’s already fallen under the spell of the ol’ Owens charm.”
You raised an eyebrow. “‘The ol’ Owens charm’?”
“You know exactly what I mean. Believe it or not, he doesn’t do it on purpose, it’s just who he is and he can’t turn it off if he tried—not that he even realizes he’s doing it. He’s just naturally one smooth SOB that anyone could find hard to resist.”
A vice suddenly tightened around your heart making it hard to breathe. Was…was that all this was? Did Tyler treat everyone he met with the same kind of attention and kindness? Were you reading into his actions more than you should?
Trying to maintain a blank expression, you shook your head. “Well, it’s not like that. He’s just letting me hang out with you guys to piss off my brother.”
“That’s what he said…but I’ve seen that look before,” Dani said smugly.
“Dani…” Dexter muttered, giving her a pointed glance.
“What look?” you asked.
“The one you had when Tyler was talking to you. Like you were soaring on cloud nine and he was the only other person up there with you. Happens all the time.”
“Dani,” Dexter said a little louder.
But she either didn’t hear him or ignored him as she continued, “It doesn’t help that he’s so damn noble on top of everything. You should see the things he does when we stop by a town that has just been hit. He’s almost been crushed in more destroyed houses than I can count trying to go back for a kid’s teddy bear or a family’s photo album. The guy just can’t say no to someone in need.”
“Dani!”
“What?” She glanced at her friend then back to you and her smile faded. She must have noticed the way you had folded in on yourself, your arms wrapped tightly around your middle as you tried to process everything she had said.
Stuttering slightly, Dani tried to backtrack. “Hey, listen, I didn’t mean…” She sighed and ran her hand through her dark hair. “I might be wrong. Tyler’s never invited someone to join the team outta nowhere like this. And he’s seemed different since he came back from your date yesterday.”
“It wasn’t a dat—” you mumbled, but she cut you off.
“Whatever it was. He’s had even more swagger in his step than usual and, this morning, he checked his watch like a million times to make sure he wasn’t late meeting you at your room. And Tyler never gets wound up like that for anyone. Right, Dexter?” The man nodded, and Dani smiled as if to say “see? I told you”. But then her smile dimmed slightly. “Just…just be careful. You seem like a really nice girl and none of us want to see you get hurt. So maybe know where you stand with him before you let yourself fall too hard.”
“Thanks,” you said, letting your arms unfold slightly. You were still questioning every interaction you had had with Tyler, but knowing you might have had some effect on him did make you feel a little better.
“Plus, you’ve been a lot of fun to have around and I’d hate for you to leave because Tyler can’t see what a catch he has in front of him.” Dani winked at you, and you gave her a small smile.
You lean forward and hand her the radio. In an attempt to break some of the tension that has now filled the camper van, you asked Dexter to resume what he was saying when Tyler called. But as he happily returns to explaining the radar monitor, the excitement you had previously had listening to his lessons had evaporated. Instead, all you could think about was Tyler.
You thought about the way he held you close to his chest last night, his arms wrapped around you as you cried. You thought about the way he defended you to Scott, how he said you had found someone willing to give you their “attention and love”. You thought about that spark of electricity flowing between you as he pressed his lips to the back of your hand, and how that same spark seemed to gleam in his eyes before he left. You thought about this morning as you had leaned in to kiss Tyler, and how for just a brief moment before Scott’s slamming truck door ruined the moment, you swore you saw Tyler begin to lean in too.
Were you just seeing what your smitten heart wanted to see?
The more you thought about it, the more you realized Dani was right. You needed to know for sure how Tyler felt before your feelings for him grew any stronger. If he was just being nice and that was all, that was fine. You were supposed to be here to get revenge on Scott, not to fall in love. So if that was the case, you would stuff down these developing feelings and try your best to forget them. But if Tyler really did feel this same magnetic pull that you did, well…that would be great to know too.
masterlist || ask me anything <3
my blurb masterlist is here x
in which, harry is remembering you, his beloved wife, mother of his child, that passed away, this is him grieving, remembering the lives that the two of you shared together and will always share together, no matter the circumstances.
word count - 2.8k
warnings: mentioned of death, mentions of breast cancer.
April, 2010.
❛ Sunday mornings were your favorite
I used to meet you down on Woods Creek Road
You did your hair up like you were famous
Even though it's only church where we were goin’ ❜
As Harry strolled down Woods Creek Road on a Sunday morning in the summer of 2010, the sun cast a warm glow over the quaint street.
His heart raced with anticipation as he made his way to meet his girlfriend, who awaited him at their usual meeting spot on the corner.
The two of you were meeting up just like the two of you did every Sunday morning before heading to church and meeting up with your families. It was a little ritual that would forever be engraved in your hearts.
You stood there, radiant in a pretty light pink summer dress, your hair elegantly styled up in a bun, giving you an air of effortless grace. Even though you were just headed to church, you always carried yourself as if you were destined for the spotlight.
As Harry approached, he couldn't help but admire how stunning you looked, a sense of pride swelling within him for being the one lucky enough to call you his own. Your eyes met, and a smile lit up your face, sending a rush of warmth through Harry's veins.
"Hey pretty girl," Harry greeted you, his voice filled with affection as he reached out to take your hand in his.
"Hey, H," you replied, your voice soft and filled with love. "You look handsome today."
Harry chuckled, a hint of pink coloring his cheeks at your compliment. "Thanks, pretty. You always look beautiful."
Together, hand in hand, you made your way to church, the sound of birds chirping and the rustle of leaves in the gentle breeze accompanying your steps.
As the duo walked hand in hand towards the church, he couldn't help but admire her beauty once again.
"You know it's only church that we're going," Harry teased with a playful grin, nudging her gently.
She laughed, a melodic sound that echoed through the quiet street.
"I wore this dress to look good for you," she replied, her eyes sparkling with affection.
Harry's heart swelled with love for her.
"And you always do," he said earnestly, pulling her closer. "Y’could be wearing a paper bag and you'd still look pretty."
She blushed at his words, leaning into him. "You're too sweet, H."
They continued their stroll, their conversation peppered with laughter and affectionate glances,
February, 2024.
❛ Now, Sunday mornings, I just sleep in
It's like I buried my faith with you
I'm screamin' at a God I don't know if I believe in
'Cause I don't know what else I can do ❜
In the dimly lit room, Harry lay tangled in the sheets of what used to be their shared bed. The curtains were drawn tightly shut, blocking out the world beyond, as if he hadn't felt the warmth of the sun in ages.
His once vibrant eyes were hollow, filled with a pain that seemed to consume him.
Sunday mornings had lost their luster, their meaning stripped away along with the love he had lost. He no longer had the will to rise from bed, to face a world that felt empty and devoid of purpose without her by his side.
Staring at the photo of a toddler on his bedside table, being held by his darling wife was a painful reminder of what once was, whilst the toddler slept in there room next door, you were no where to be found.
Harry felt a wave of anguish wash over him. He had buried his faith along with her, his heart screaming out to a God he no longer knew if he believed in.
Tears welled up in his eyes, his chest constricting with the weight of his sorrow. He longed for her presence, for the warmth of her touch, but she was gone, leaving behind a void that seemed impossible to fill.
In the silence of the room, Harry found himself grappling with a pain so profound, he didn't know what else to do but scream into the void, hoping for some semblance of solace in a world that had turned its back on him.
Harry felt a wave of anguish wash over him. With trembling hands, he reached out and grabbed the photo of his wife, holding it close to his chest as tears streamed down his face.
"Why did y’take her?" he screamed into the empty room, his voice cracking with pain. "It should ‘ave been me!"
His cries echoed off the walls, a raw expression of the agony that consumed him. He clutched the photo tightly, as if holding onto it could somehow bring her back to him, could somehow ease the unbearable pain of her absence.
But she was gone, and Harry was left alone in a world that seemed intent on tearing him apart.
January, 2024.
❛ I'm still holdin' on to everything that's dead and gone
I don't wanna say goodbye, 'cause this one means forever ❜
"H," you whispered, your voice barely above a hoarse whisper, "I want to see her grow up. I want to see her graduate, get married, have children of her own."
You were referring to your and harrys freshly turned two year old daughter Grace Anne Styles, she was everything to the two of you, with her fathers curly hair and signature green eyes, her personality was all you, kind, caring and nurturing.
The sterile scent of the hospital mingled with the faint whir of machines monitoring your vital signs, creating an atmosphere heavy with uncertainty.
Six months ago, when you were diagnosed with breast cancer, Harry had clung to hope like a lifeline, determined to fight alongside you every step of the way. But as each day passed, that hope dwindled, replaced by a gnawing fear of what the future held.
You lay in the bed, your once vibrant spirit now dimmed by the relentless assault of the disease. Cancer had robbed you of your strength, leaving you fragile and frail. Your hair, once a cascade of curls that framed your face with warmth, had been replaced by a bald scalp, a stark reminder of the battle you fought with every breath.
Even your wedding rings, symbols of the love you and Harry shared, no longer fit your slender fingers, so he wore them on a chain around his neck, keeping them close to his heart.
Tears welled up in Harry's eyes as he reached out to take your hand in his.
"You will, pretty girl," he said softly, his voice filled with determination. "Y’going to get better, I know it."
But deep down, Harry couldn't shake the sinking feeling in his chest, the fear that he might lose you before you had the chance to see your dreams fulfilled.
So, as you drifted off to sleep, he sat by your bedside, his heart heavy with the weight of impending loss.
"I don't want to say goodbye," he whispered into the darkness, his voice barely above a whisper. "Because this one means forever."
He brushed a tear from his cheek as he watched over you, vowing to cherish every precious moment they had left together, unwilling to let go of the love that had defined their lives.
April, 2024.
❛ And now you're in the stars and six-feet's never felt so far
Here I am alone between the heavens and the embers❜
As Harry sat in the garden with Grace nestled in his lap, the night enveloped them in its quiet embrace. The stars twinkled overhead, their distant light casting a soft glow over the garden, while the faint crackle of embers from the nearby fire pit added to the ambiance. But despite the beauty of the night, Harry couldn't shake the overwhelming sense of loneliness that washed over him.
All day little Grace had asked about seeing mummy so who was harry to deny her of that?
"Look, Daddy! Look at all the stars!" Grace exclaimed, her small finger pointing up at the shimmering sky.
Harry forced a smile, his heart heavy with the weight of your absence.
"They're beautiful, aren't they, sweet girl?" he replied, his voice tinged with sadness.
"Yeah, but I still can't see Mommy," Grace said, her voice filled with longing. "When is she coming?"
“I’m not sure sweet girl,” Harry's heart shattered at her words, the pain of your loss echoing in his chest.
"I know you miss her, sweet girl," he said softly, pulling her closer. "I miss her too, but she’s always going to be up there isn’t she? up in the stars watching over me and you.”
"I want to see her," Grace insisted, her bottom lip trembling.
Harry's eyes welled up with tears as he looked down at his daughter, her innocent face filled with confusion and sorrow.
"I know, sweet girl," he murmured, his voice choked with emotion. "I wish I could bring her back for you."
"Why can't you, Daddy?" Grace asked, her voice tinged with frustration.
Harry's heart clenched at her words, the weight of his grief pressing down on him like a lead weight.
"Because she's in the stars now, sweetheart," he explained gently, his voice trembling.
Grace's eyes filled with tears as she buried her face in Harry's chest, her small body shaking with sobs.
"I want Mommy," she cried, her voice muffled against his shirt.
Harry held her tightly, his own tears mingling with hers as he struggled to find the words to comfort her.
"I know, sweet girl," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion. "I want mommy too."
February, 2024.
❛ Oh, it hurts so hard
For a million different reasons
You took the best of my heart
And left the rest in pieces ❜
As Harry sat in front of the photo of the two of you on your wedding day, the memories came flooding back like a tidal wave crashing over him.
The room felt empty, the silence deafening, as he clutched the half-drunk bottle of wine in his hands. With Grace sleeping at his mom's house for the night, he was left alone with his thoughts, the weight of your absence pressing down on him like a ton of bricks.
"Oh, it hurts so hard," Harry whispered, his voice barely above a hoarse whisper, as if afraid to disturb the stillness of the room.
He traced the outline of your face in the photo, his fingertips lingering on the curve of your smile, the sparkle in your eyes. The love they shared had been pure and unconditional, a bond that seemed unbreakable. But now, with you gone, Harry felt like a ship lost at sea, adrift in a vast ocean of loneliness and despair.
"You took the best of my heart," he murmured, his voice thick with tears,
And he didn’t want to admit that the rest was left in puzzle pieces.
Tears streamed down his face as he poured himself another glass of wine, the bitter taste doing little to dull the ache in his heart. He felt like he was suffocating, drowning in a sea of memories that threatened to swallow him whole.
"Why did y’have to go?" Harry whispered, his voice filled with anguish as he stared at the photo, as if willing it to provide him with answers. "We were supposed to grow old together, to watch Grace grow up, to share a lifetime of memories."
But the photo remained silent, a frozen moment in time that offered no solace, no comfort in the face of his pain. And as Harry sat alone in the darkness, he realized that no amount of wine could dull the ache of your absence, no words could bring you back to him.
"I miss you, pretty girl," he whispered, his voice breaking with emotion. "More than words can say."
June, 2024.
❛ Diggin' through your old birthday letters
A crumpled 20 still in the box
I don't think that I could ever find a way to spend it
Even if it's the last 20 that I've got, oh ❜
the weight of your absence felt heavier than ever. Today was Grace's third birthday, a day meant to be filled with joy and celebration, but instead, it served as a painful reminder of the life you should have been there to share.
With trembling hands, Harry sifted through the stack of cards, each one a precious memento of the love you poured into every aspect of your daughter's life. He ran his fingers over the familiar handwriting, his heart breaking with each heartfelt message penned by your hand.
But then, something caught his eye at the bottom of the box—a crumpled £20 note. Harry's breath caught in his throat as he unfolded the worn bill, his fingers trembling as he realized its significance. It was the last £20 that you had given him, tucked away as a surprise in one of Grace's birthday cards.
Tears welled up in Harry's eyes as he stared at the crumpled note, his heart aching with the weight of your absence. He had never been able to bring himself to spend it, holding onto it like a lifeline to the memories of the life they had shared together.
"Mommy got y’something special," Harry said softly, his voice thick with emotion, as he called Grace into the room. "This card is from her."
Grace's eyes widened with excitement as she took the card from Harry's outstretched hand, her fingers tracing the familiar handwriting.
"From Mommy?" she asked, her voice filled with wonder as Harry also handed her the crumpled £20.
"What are you going to spend the money on, sweet girl?" Harry asked gently, his voice tinged with sadness as he looked into his daughter's innocent eyes.
Grace's brows furrowed slightly as she considered her father's question. After a moment of thoughtful silence, she looked up at Harry with a determined expression.
"M’going to buy some happiness," she replied softly, her voice filled with sincerity. "So that you can be happy, Daddy."
Harry's breath caught in his throat as he gazed at his daughter, her words piercing through the veil of his grief like a ray of sunlight breaking through storm clouds. Tears welled up in his eyes as he reached out to pull Grace into a tight embrace.
"Oh, sweet girl," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion. "Y’already make me happier than I ever thought possible."
❛ I'm still holdin' on to everything that's dead and gone
I don't wanna say goodbye, 'cause this one means forever
And now you're in the stars and six-feet's never felt so far
Here I am alone between the heavens and the embers ❜
The anniversary of your death was a cruel reminder of the void that now existed in his life, a void that could never be filled. He set down the bouquet of flowers he had brought, their vibrant colors stark against the somber backdrop of the cemetery.
"M’still holding on to everything that's dead and gone," Harry whispered, his voice barely above a hoarse whisper, as if afraid to disturb the silence of the graveyard.
Tears welled up in Harry's eyes as he sat down beside your grave, the cold earth beneath him a painful reminder of the finality of death. He traced the letters of your name etched into the headstone, his fingers trembling with grief.
"And now you're in the stars, and six-feet's never felt so far," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. "Y’should be here, by m’side and we should be living life like we were supposed to be doing, I shouldn’t be visiting your gave, s’too unfair."
"I brought you y’favorite flowers," he said softly, his voice choked with emotion. "I hope you like them."
He paused, as if waiting for a response that would never come. The silence of the cemetery enveloped him like a shroud, amplifying the ache in his heart.
"I wish you were here," he whispered, his voice barely above a whisper. "I wish we could have just one more day together."
Tears streamed down Harry's face as he poured out his heart to you, his words a mix of sorrow and longing.
"Grace is growing up so fast," he continued, his voice trembling with emotion. "She's so much like you, y’know? Sometimes it feels like you're still here, watching over us."
He reached out to touch the cold marble of your headstone, his fingers tracing the letters of your name.
"I miss you every day," he confessed, his voice breaking with grief. "I don't know how to live without you."
As Harry spoke, memories flooded his mind, each one a bittersweet reminder of the love you had shared.
"Do y’remember our first date?" he asked softly, a wistful smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "I was so nervous, but you made me feel like everything was going to be okay."
He wiped away his tears, his heart heavy with the weight of your absence.
"I wish I could turn back time," he whispered, his voice filled with regret. "I wish I could tell y’how much I love you one more time."
And then, with a heavy heart, Harry pressed a kiss to your grave, his lips lingering on the cold stone as if seeking solace in its unforgiving surface.
"Goodbye, pretty girl," he whispered, his voice barely audible above the gentle rustle of the wind.
“Until we meet again.”
Shits bad so here’s Boone x Reader:
This was a gift for @cupiidskiss but I wrote it so anyone could read and enjoy.
Contains:
- gender neutral reader
- maybe a little ooc…
- corny, sappy fluff.
((Not beta read btw)).
~~~
You heard books shuffled aside and the worried muttering of a man. His heavy footsteps approached your hiding spot, you tensed up. The band aid was pulled when he leans over and spots you crammed between the wall and his penman desk. He opened his mouth but your uncaught sob made his brows raise.
“Fuck, is this why you’ve been hiding?”
You curled up tighter. He got to a knee and lowered himself, bending to meet your reddened eyes. His mouth twitched, his eyes cast downwards.
“Come out, will you?” He extended a hand and put a palm to the back of your shoulder, nudging you out.
You unfurled and wrapped your arms around him like a sundew. Boone fell backwards from his unstable squat and grunted. It morphed into a pathetic chortle as he processed what happened.
He lugged you to your feet and sat you on the couch. He fell beside you, putting up no fight when you wrapped around him.
Rough as his hands were, they felt wonderful gliding up and down your clothed back. The contact alone brought a wave of tears to the forefront. He stammered an apology, but for what?: For making you cry harder, for how things turned out, for nothing in particular?
You pulled away to wipe your nose but he pulled you back into a tighter clutch. You mumbled through a wobbling throat how you didn’t want to get his clothes all gross with your face. Your words failed when you felt his chest shutter.
He tried his best to keep it together and not start crying while nuzzling the top of your head. His hands felt up and down your shoulders; it was a self soothing gesture for himself.
You both needed this intimacy: just the two of you bonded through proximity and the warmth between.
Boone curled further into you, drawing you close simultaneously. You could feel his chest and belly deform around your front. His nose nuzzled through your hair until he was pressed to your neck. His mustache and lamb chops scratched your sensitive, hot-and-cold skin skin at first, but it grew softer as his motions slowed. His extremities pressed in from all around like the security of rope.
You leaned into him and to your surprise, he flopped over easy as wind. You turned your cheek to his chest and listened to his heart. It was fast from worry, you could feel it too, but his breathing was slow. He was copying what you showed him one time, and now you copy him.
You shakily inhaled, held it for a moment, then exhaled through your mouth. You did it again, putting as much conscious thought into tracking the repetition. Any moment away from the nauseating fast thoughts was worth clinging to.
It felt right in the moment to press your nose bridge to his shoulder and let sweet words of appreciation pour from your stressed lips. Your fingers carded through his hair and down to his lamb chops as you continued to mumble every word you needed him to know in that moment.
Low in his chest, a bubbling cry came. Somehow, he still squeezed you tighter, only for a moment. He released you with a sigh.
“Don’t leave me. Not today, not tomorrow, never,” he said into the fabric of your shirt. He sounded so soggy from his tears. You swore you could pull away from his chest and be faced with a deflated chopped, watery eyed, bottom lip trembling man.
How a man like him is changed so suddenly by an embrace is a mystery. Maybe he wasn’t changed, but more honest; no longer squaring his shoulders and brute forcing like a ram.
Boone’s throat worked for a moment, you couldn’t tell if it was a sudden wave of sobbing or what. He lifted his head and pinched the tears running down his nose bridge.
“I love you,” he finally said. Moments later, he sniffled and shoved his forehead back to your shoulder.
You chuckled, it was a yellow lifesaver in a hard to measure black body of water. You patted his messy curls like placating an overgrown baby.
He loudly snorted, then nasally asked, “what’re you laughing about?”
You tell him it’s nothing, still scrubbing his black curls. His brief stiff offense relaxes hearing you talk. He falls his head back on the ornate throw pillows and sighs.
“Can we stay like this? Just… talking. And being here, in the moment?” He hiccups.
You kiss his red cheeks and lick your lips of salt. Your smile is true when you tell him, “of course.”

How would Fallout New Vegas companions react if Courier was dating Rotface?
Fallout New Vegas companions react to Courier dating Rotface
GN!Courier
Craig Boone
He truly does not care, the couriers business is their own.
Doesn't pry into their personal life, if they'd like to talk about it Boone will listen, it's what he's good at.
Boone doesn't understand why the courier would be attracted to a ghoul, though once again that's their business. Plus it's not like he's the one kissing that face.
Will be a bit protective, although he'd never admit it, the courier is his friend and he doesn't like seeing friends get hurt.
Arcade Gannon
He finds it odd, but he's seen so much in the wasteland it doesn't exactly phase him much.
He will ask if the courier is dating Rotface just for information and intel. He knows a lot about the ghouls reputation.
Warns them of the dangers no matter the answer and in general is a bit of a mother hen.
Arcade will never say it out loud but he likes the gossip he hears from Rotface.
Raul Tejada
Okay, boss.
He's the last person that would judge the courier for dating a ghoul, considering his own condition.
Raul acts like a protective grandpa, telling the courier to be careful. Especially knowing how Rotface likes to talk.
Doesn't want the courier getting hurt by being in the middle of something caused by their lover.
He's also kind of glad that someone would be attracted to a ghoul for more than just sex. Gives him hope that if he wanted a relationship one day, he'd be able to find someone.
Veronica Santangelo
She doesn't judge, or at least tries not to.
Being raised in the Brotherhood has its downsides, and one of those is being sheltered.
Veronica tells the courier that of Rotface hurts them, she punch him for them. She's only half joking.
She loves the gossip and "girl talk" though. Asking the courier how dates went, helping them dress up for dates, and even planning dates for them.
She says it's like a fairytale, tells the courier about prewar stories like Beauty and the Beast and the Frog Prince.
Sharon of Rose "Cass" Cassidy
Really? Okay, whatever floats your boat.
She'd never date a ghoul, but that's just her, and the courier is not her.
Cass doesn't think it's her business, and doesn't pry. Though she gives unsolicited dating advice when she's drunk.
She's just happy that the courier is happy, and if Rotface hurts the courier in any way, she'll pop a cap in his ass.
Lily Bowen
Oh that's lovely sweetheart, I hope you're happy!
Very supportive grandma, always tells the courier to have fun on dates and to be safe.
However, if the courier gets hurt in any way, Rotface will have Leo to deal with.
Rex
*sniff sniff*
Thinks Rotface smells funny, has probably seen him before.
He doesn't mind as long as he gets pets and treats from him.
ED-E
*happy beeping*
Is just happy to be here.

Rainbow Bridge
Summary: Dog Day Afternoon
Warnings: fluff, angst if you squint, dog-centric (no people in sight)
Word Count: ~500
A/N: inspired by something someone mentioned at work 😭 a self-indulgent piece of fluff that lets me imagine what my own dogs are doing in the afterlife.
Boone’s sharp eyes take in the subtle movements of the waves in the distance, and the occasional shifting of sand as critters move beneath it at his feet. As he sits waiting for his prey to show up, he sees his brother out of the corner of his eye sit up before promptly flopping over onto his other side. He’s off in the grass basking in the sun as he had been for the past hour.
Despite how much Boone enjoyed spending time with his brother, their interests differed in many ways. While Rogue was content to sleep the day away in the sunny spot with a pile of treats nearby, Boone liked to be active. He stiffens as he watches a flock of seagulls return from their trip to the water. He patiently waits until the entire group has landed and started to fight over the few scraps that they’d managed to bring back. Boone stays lows as he creeps toward where the gulls are cawing near the edge of the waves. He pulls to a stop when he thinks one of them spots him, but as the gull resumes flapping his wings and arguing with another bird, Boone becomes braver.
He's at his full height by the time he’s within a few feet of the flock and his excitement temporarily overwhelms his stealth. He darts toward the nearest bird and turns suddenly as they all begin to flee. He chases them for a good 50 feet before the last one has taken to the sky to get away from him. Boone had never intended to catch one of them, he didn’t really like the taste of seagull. He just wanted to enjoy a chase, and since there was no tennis ball or frisbee in sight, this was his last resort.
He's still panting as he watches the birds land about 100 yards away from him down the beach. He sits back down before watching the group again and beginning the entire game again.
Rogue releases a high-pitched yawn as he stretches his legs out beneath him. He is too comfortable to move, and he lets out a huff as he continued to lie in the sun. He doesn’t know how long he’s been here, but he has no desire to move anytime soon. Even the small pile of treats nearby isn’t enough to get him to abandon the comfortable spot he’s found in the middle of the grass just beyond the sand dunes of the beach. The sun has warmed him up to optimal napping temperature, and the only reason he’s stirred at all is because the sound of screeching gulls had reached him.
He ignored his brother who was expending entirely too much energy, and decided to see how much longer he had the sun in the perfect spot for. He can’t remember being this relaxed before. Sure there’s the gulls, but otherwise the distractions were non-existent and he was living his best life.
Maybe if the sun went in, he’d see how successful his brother has been, but for now he’ll return to his dreamless sleep.

ENJOY!
“What’s the red light mean?” You ask, twirling a piece of your hair around your finger in an attempt to play stupid as you stared at your long time boyfriend while he set his little vlog camera up. “Is that like…. Does it mean it’s off?”
“It means it’s recording.” He laughs, pointing it straight at you. “Alright guys, don’t be confused by the little monster on your screen right now. That’s just my wonderful girl in her very own costume for todays event.”
“It’s not even scary! I dressed up as-”
“Tell em what we’re doing today my little stormcloud.”
“Ew. No. To that nickname, never again.” You huff, moving to walk away. He uses this as a chance to film the sign of the building you both were about to enter.
“Since she doesn’t want to introduce it I will.” He sasses, zooming in on the sign. “We are doing a ghost tour instead of chasing storms today folks.”
“Yee haw.” You mock, spinning around like a tornado when he points the camera back to you.
“And if you hadn’t realized already we are dressed up as GHOSTBUSTERSSSS!”
“I think they got that Boone.” You laugh, striking a pose anyways before rushing over to where he stood and grabbing the camera gently so you can turn it on him. “Look at that handsome man.”
“Quit flirting, you might embarrass me in front of caspar.” He blushes, before howling and snatching the camera. “Who is ready?”
“ME!” you laugh, dashing up the steps into the building to start the tour.
-
Flash forward 20 minutes and the camera cuts to you both with the blandest looks on your faces.
“I hate to be a hater, you guys know my vibe, but-”
“This tour sucks.” You blurt, shaking your head. “No ghosts.”
“No ghosts.” He confirms.
“Not a single one.” You huff.
“We were supposed to bust them. Now what?” He laughs, turning to you.
“We could…. Maybe just burn the building down.”
“Go chase a tornado?”
“Burn the building down.”
“This is going to end up as evidence in a true crime docuseries.”
“At least then there would be ghosts.” You huff, kissing his cheek before walking off.

I seen you were asking for Scott request!
Reader and Scott are engaged and she's best friends with Tyler in this...
While on a chase everyone stops to refuel bathroom break get food. Reader is talking to Kate when a guy starts to hit on her. She politely tells him she's engaged then turns back to Kate. The guy doesn't take the hint and doesn't care and keeps on making comments(I'm thinking there's a bar close by and the guy is drunk) so the reader gets more firm with him tells him to back off he grabs her arms pushes her against the van and back hands her. Scott and Tyler see this and high tale it over there Scott punches the guy a few time tyler checks in the reader. The reader has a gash on her face from his ring and a hand print on her arm. The reader gets Scott off the guy. He sees the marks ask Kate to go get her some ice while he cleans the gash. Then something fluffy while he's taking care of her.
Hands Off | Scott x Reader
The tension between Storm Par and the Wranglers had certainly improved since you and Scott had gotten engaged. It was like bringing two families together that hated each other. That’s not even accounting for Kate, who had started with Storm Par and ended up a Wrangler.
Your groups were… amicable at best.
Currently, both were stopped at the same gas station, everyone scattered. Some people had gone to the bathroom, some had gone to get food at the gas station. You were standing next to one of the Storm Par vehicles talking to Kate. Then it happened.
A man who is clearly drunk stumbles up to you and Kate and begins to sleazily hit on you. You made it clear you were uncomfortable. “I’m engaged,” you told the man, holding up your left hand and showing off your ring.
“That’s okay, baby. I don’t see him ‘round, and what he doesn’t know won’t hurt em.”
Kate tried to intervene but the man just waved her off. “I’m not talking to you,” he growled. Turning his attention back to you, he leaned in uncomfortably close. “Come on, don’t be a fucking tease. Out here lookin’ like that…”
You bristled. “Get away from me.”
The man didn’t like that at all, and before you even knew what was happening he had slammed you into the side of the Storm Par van and backhanded you across the face. Kate screamed.
Scott and Tyler had seen what had happened from across the lot and raced over in record time. Scott yanked the man off of you, throwing him to the ground and climbing on top of him, landing solid punch after solid punch.
Tyler examined the gash on the side of your face with his jaw angrily locked. He gently grabbed your arm, where the man had grabbed you, and examined the hand print he had left.
“Scott!” you gasped, not wanting him to catch charges. You pushed away from Tyler and placed your hands on Scott’s shoulders. He stilled at the touch.
Slowly, he got off the man he was beating. He rose to his full height before turning to you and pulling you to him. He bent down to examine your face. Upon seeing the gash and hand print, he very nearly turned to continue beating the man, but one look at your face kept him glued to you.
“Kate, will you get me some ice?” Scott asked, gritting his teeth. “Come here, baby.” He led you to his truck and sat you in the passenger seat. He left the door open and you sat so your legs were hanging out of the truck.
Scott crouched down in front of you, taking a cloth he had produced from who knows where, and gently dabbing at the gash on your cheek. Then he disappeared, only to reappear with a first-aid kit.
“This is gonna hurt,” he warned as he poured hydrogen peroxide on some gauze. He dabbed it on your gash and you hissed in pain. “I know, I know, I’m sorry,” Scott mumbled. By the time he finished cleaning it, Kate had returned with ice in a plastic bag.
Scott muttered his thanks and took it from her, holding it up to your cheek. “Keep that on there until I say otherwise,” Scott commanded. Your hand took his hand’s place, holding the makeshift icepack against your face.
That’s when you noticed his knuckles. They were bloody, and whether it was his blood or the man’s, you couldn’t tell.
“Scotty…” you frowned, concerned. Scott followed your gaze and flexed his hands. “I’m fine, baby,” he assured you. The shock of everything wore off and you felt tears pooling in your eyes.
“Oh, honey,” Scott frowned, reaching up and wiping away a tear with his thumb.
“Don’t cry. I’ll never let anyone put their hands on you ever again.”

It was late into the day on a certain researcher's birthday as Kensaku Morimoto lazed on the couch watching some show he couldn't be bothered to remember the name of and munched on some potato chips. He was doing what he always do, kicking back and relaxing, he had gotten home from his brother's after he and his family had celebrated his birthday, he remembered fondly of his niece eagerly handing him her homemade present.
A knock on the door brought him out of his memories as he placed the patato chip bag on the small coffee table and stood up from the couch. He ran through the list of people that would be most likely to visit him this late and yet nothing turned up, cautious yet curious, he made his way to the door and slowly opened it.
Any and all worry soon disappeared when his eyes fell on his lovely and wonderful girlfriend, Sayaka Miyuki. All cute and bundled up to fight off the cold fall weather, her amber eyes lit up as she beamed at Kensaku with flushed cheeks, partially from the weather and partially from seeing one of her two significant others. "Hi, Kensaku! Happy Birthday!" She greeted.
Kensaku optimistically greeted her back after ushering her inside, he also made a mental note to fantazise and daydream about her adorable flushed face later. Sayaka took off her shoes and with the help of Kensaku, carried the bundle of gifts most likely meant for him to his living area. "I'm so sorry, I hope I'm not too late." The brunette apologized, giving an apologetic smile. "There's just been a lot going on, with personal life, with things in the D.R.B., and the...ahem..hit list." She muttered the last part frowning before clearing her throat and smiled once more.
"Not to mention the drive from Saitama to all the way out here! It's definitely worth it though! I'll always take the chance to see you!" This time, Sayaka's whole face flushed red at her own words before laughing nervously and pushing the gifts closer to the bluenette.
"I got you gifts! For your birthday! I...do hope you like them."
Sayaka waited patiently as Kensaku looked between the three presents set out in front of him before choosing the first one, which revealed to be...
...A message neck pillow.
"I know it can be tedious having to look down all the time to do paperwork, doesn't matter how old you are, a sore neck is a sore neck and that's horrible so hopefully this can provide some relief."
The next gift revealed to be...
...A set of pens with snarky remarks etched onto them.
"Hehe, do you like them? Figured that it would get a good laugh out of you and you can use them at work! Snarky and practical!"
Lastly, the final gift revealed to be...
...A brownie birthday cake. Still warm too.
"I, um, I remembered how much you liked my brownies from Valentine's day and thought I'd give you some more, I know it's such a cliche way of saying but I really did put a lot of love into them."
Sayaka smiled at Kensaku's reaction to her gifts before taking a deep breath, as if to steady herself, she looked up at the blue haired researcher. "Hey Ken?"
When she got his attention, she immediately took action and swooped in to place a gentle kiss on his cheek. Looking at him with bright amber eyes, Sayaka's smile turned into a loving grin. "Happy Birthday."
Happy Birthday Kensaku! 💙
Kensaku was elated to see his girlfriend manage to make it up to Toyama for his birthday. Although a small part of him was sad he couldn’t share his birthday together with Jakurai, he was still glad that he could see his girlfriend’s blushing face in person.
Thankfully, he didn’t get caught up in his thoughts and fantasies for very long. A polite “thank you” and some playful ushering into his apartment, he listened to her talk about her day. As much as he wanted to ask her more about the hit list and her drive from Saitama, he instead was overwhelmed by the gifts Sayaka timidly pushed towards him.
“A-Ah uhm… Thank you, Sayaka.” The two of them, still new to the relationship, were very much stumbling over themselves, not used to the intimate conversations. And yet, it didn’t seem to deter them in the slightest. Kensaku personally wanted to cherish these little moments. It was cute to him. Tooth-rottingly cute.
One by one, he opened the gifts. Smiling and laughing alongside Sayaka as she explained her gifts and how she had thought of him. Kensaku loved how perfectly thought out her gifts were. When he opened up the cake, the memory of Valentine’s day flooded back. To think that she had feelings then, maybe even before that day made Kensaku feel a little guilty for not confessing sooner (and for not doing it sober). It was silly to think he felt so scared of rejection now, when he had practically everything he has always wanted right in front of him.
Kensaku was left in a rare moment of silence, no playful quips able to leave his loud mouth. The overwhelming feeling of love and gratitude leaving him speechless as he looks over his gifts. Her voice calling for his name was the one thing to break Kensaku out of his stupor, looking over to with a gentle smile… Only for it to break into a look of astonishment when Sayaka surprises him with a kiss on the cheek.
“Happy birthday.” Kensaku managed to hear beyond the sounds of his brain starting to crash and burn. His mouth slowly hung open as he tried his hardest to make any comprehensive sound exit it, only to give up and simply give her a hug to ground himself again.
“Sayaka… You must be a ninja.” Out of the blue, Kensaku mumbles into her shoulder before he pulls back from the hug.
“A ninja?” Sayaka asks while Kensaku brushes her hair back, admiring her face before a goofy grin spreads over his face.
“Because you snuck into my heart and stole a kiss.”
“Wha- Hey!” The two erupted into laughter as they playfully pushed at each other over the cheesy pun. Yet among all blushes and giggles, Kensaku couldn’t help feeling that lingering sense of something missing…
“Hey, Sayaka?”
“Yeah?”
“How do you feel about going back to Tokyo right now?”
“H-Huh?” Confused, Sayaka huffs. “I just got here-”
“It… It just doesn’t feel right without Jakurai.” He felt a pang of shame at the admission. He was having this wonderful moment with his girlfriend, he shouldn’t be so greedy talking about someone else. Yet, seeing Sayaka silently nod in agreement, it reassured Ken that they both missed their beloved third partner. Celebrating this sort of thing without Jakurai didn’t feel right. Like a missing piece to their happy pod of peas, Kensaku thought. With that, a better idea popped into his head.
“Well, how about you and me,” Kensaku gives her a mischievous grin. “Surprise him at his place. Out of revenge for not driving you over to Toyama like a good boyfriend? Or for not giving us some kisses? We don't have to bully him, I just want to go bother him with you.”
Poor Sayaka was a taken aback a little by the spontaneity of Kensaku’s plan, but she couldn’t help but take his hand as he helped her up from the couch babbling about how much he wanted to be with Jakurai. She couldn’t help smiling and shaking her head as the scientist’s infectious energy burst around the room, fueled by the high of that little kiss and determination to be together as a throuple. Marching about his house to grab his stuff, Kensaku’s beaming aura quickly convinces Sayaka to follow him out the door with a twinkle in his eye.
“Come on, sweet pea! There's no time to waste! Let's go surprise our pea flower!”
I'm making it a thing, he calls them peas because they're three peas in a pod. And I wanna eat all three of them they're so cUTE AND THANK YOU- ▼皿▼
