I haven't done a CR update in so long that's cause I haven't read a book since March 2022. That's probably cause my taste in books has changed so drastically. I no longer like to indulge in YA. NA or fantasy or basically worldly books. If I were to read, I'd probably stick to a genre of mystery thriller, but then again, I feel like I don't have the patience or the time now for such hobbies 🫠

If I were to count the number of times I've seen myself represented in fiction, it would take less 5 seconds. And I’m not talking about the “stereotype” represented in media. I mean like a true representation of Muslims. For the first time in a long time, I felt seen!!
This book was not what I expected tbh. Not gonna lie I was a bit skeptical on how the author would portray a halal relationship but boy, it did not fall short!!! I found myself grinning like an idiot and literally just experiencing everything Amirah felt.  Let’s get to it..
Likes:
🏀 I liked how visual the writing was in terms of character explanation. Amirah was a really relatable character (did I say I felt seen?). I liked how she was headstrong and had a no nonsense approach on the outside but had her fair share of insecurities. Her character arc was very well done!
🏀 Ali was an endearing kid. Funny, responsible and trying so hard to fill the void for his family after their moms death despite his own woes as a teenager. I liked how he started off as a confused kid and found focus at the end and went after his plans.
🏀 It’s done a wonderful job of depicting the true essence of our religion. The struggle to stay on the right path was captured beautifully. It’s not like we don’t have desires, we’re human too. We just don’t succumb to them or let them dictate our lives. I loved every time the MCs had a pep talk with themselves to keep themselves in check!
🏀 the events that Amirah went through especially the proposal and the first meeting and how it usually does go down a a “set of check boxes” #facts Also, the pressure of GCSEs. Result day always seems like a death sentence. Realizing you didn’t get the grade and how your world literally crashes down. I felt.all.of.that!!! (A Levels is hard ya’all especially A2 Math. What even is that?)
🏀 Its more than just a love story. It dealt with a lot of other topics like grief, family drama, traumatic events end even depression. I liked how it showed the parents relationship with the kids and how they too can be wrong at times.
🏀 Sibling Love: I think im a sucker for those in books. Loved how both protagonist showed and cared for their siblings. It was endearing to read. And most of the parts with Abdullah (a child with special needs) drove me to tears.
🏀 The romance was clichéd but still interesting. The stolen glances. The short encounters, the misunderstanding. The awkward conversations where you later curse yourself for saying something so dull or daring. I liked how they made it work even though when it seemed impossible. She sold a cynic like me on the “soulmates stuff”.
Dislikes:
🏀 I did not mind the accent or the British slang. But some people can have a problem with that.
🏀 I wish the two MCs had had more conversations together. But again I didn’t really mind this. I liked how observant they were and picked up on each other’s personality traits.
🏀 it drags a little at the beginning but picks up a smooth pace. The ending was a bit of a blur because so much was happening and so fast! Again I didn’t really mind, just putting it out there…
My likes outweigh my dislikes so it’s pretty clear I love this book and would definitely reread it again! Recommend to everyone really. It’s too cute!

P.S tried to recreate the cover of the book and I think I did a good job tbh! Which picture do you like best?

Selam, Arkadaşlar! Hope you're all well. Thought I'd share : “10 Lessons Ive learned from Pride and Prejudice" ft #veinyhands✌🏻
1. Its not surprising that the “Truth Universally Acknowledged TM” still stands the test of time 207 years later. (If you havent read P&P, swipe to read the Universally Acknowledged Truth TM 😁)
2. Don’t be quick to judge. Hear hear! im the queen of judging. I might not say my judgments out loud but I do quickly form an opinion about someone and it takes a while to undo it! 🥴 #guilty
3. “First impressions really aren’t the last impressions- the shortest Ted talk by an introvert”. Its true though, if you’ve ever befriended an introvert you’ll know they’re the polar opposites of their shy, quiet first impressions. Mr Darcy is a huge introvert (and so awkward). Pride and prejudice (2005) did justice to his character!
4. Its better to be single than to a marry a man like Mr Collins. #facts 🙃
5. Never underestimate the power of a “pair of fine eyes”. They really are windows to your soul.😉
6. Believe in 2nd chances. But only 2nd, you never know when you might need one yourself. Third time might be a charm but that doesn’t apply to chances (IMO) 😅
7. Sisters before Misters 😎 There really isn’t anyone like your sister(s). I love the relationship between Elizabeth and Jane, and Jane used to remind me a tad bit of my own sister: soft, genteel, naïve, delicate as a petal and so pure!
8. When in doubt, take a long walk. Nothing clears your mind like taking a good long walk, preferable till the sun sets! (Watching the sunset is a bonus). Ive always loved walking, I use the time to self-reflect or think over things that are being too loud and center in my brain!
9. Pride and Prejudice 2005 is superior! 🙌🏻 I will fight you on this 🙂
10. "There is no enjoyment like reading" is the best declaration ever. 🥳
That’s about it. I'm sure they're more; a reread is in order 😁 #mayofclassics
#QOTD: do you like Pride and Prejudice Retellings? My favourite has to be Pride and prejudice and Zombies. It’s a unique take mixing these two polar concepts and Ive watched that movie countless times! Havent read the book yet. ☺

Going back to regular posting from today. I’ve been sharing a bunch in my stories and will continue to. I wish the world was this unified when it comes to other forms of injustice and oppression. It took the universe two weeks to realize Ramadan was over and it plunged into chaos 😔 Way to get over the Ramadan blues!! 🥴 Anywho. Heres a book review after ages, I read this way back just never got around to posting about it 🤷 ⁣ Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫⁣ ⁣ I automatically hate books with unhappy endings no matter what i felt while reading it and this book was exactly that. But I decided I couldn’t nullifying this book just cause it had a sad ending. Clearly realistic fiction is my least favorite genre 😒⁣ ⁣ Where do I start with this book!? I hated this book but I also loved it. It was weirdly hopeful but also sad in a raw brutal way. The writing style was easy and simple but it evoked a lot of emotion.⁣ ⁣ Main character plot of this book was loosely based on the butterfly effect and this quote: “everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always” #noora ✌🏼⁣ ⁣ So basically the main character in the book is a mean plastic girl (Sam) and she dies in a tragic car accident…only she doesnt. She re lives that day 6 times over and gets a chance to right all the wrongs (although the wrong they did cannot be fixed in 6 days). ⁣ ⁣ The beauty of this story is in the details: how Sam realizes her actions affect each character and how even the losers and mean girls and nerds are still human beings under all that drama. Very life is strange but that is loads loads better (post coming soon, blog only 🥰🙃)⁣ ⁣ It gives insight on the repercussions of bullying and how you should think before you speak and at the same time it offers a sympathetic POV of the bully-er. Cause you know, Nobody is “born” a “bully”. I initially disliked Sam and I always judge the book a tad harshly if I dont like the main character, but she grows on you.⁣ ⁣ I watched the movie as well and like all adaptations I was disappointed 🙄Would I re read this? Probably not😁🤪⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Recommend for a quick read and getting out of a reading slump though ✌🏻cause despite the ending, cause despite the ending, the story has you hooked. You want to find out how she'll get it right! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Trigger warnings: bullying, suicide, attempted suicide. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ June seems to be a lot about time to me. Anticipating Darks return (netflix). I played Life is Strange, a console game about bending and reversing time. And coincidentally choose this book to review...⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #QOTD: if you could go back in your life to change something what would it be? ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #AOTD: I'd definitely study harder for my A levels and probably not choose sciences. Lol 😛⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ https://www.instagram.com/p/CBQq90rA41l/?igshid=9q39564mc4kh

"I love you more than I hate everything else" ⁣
You know how you just swear off of authors who are super hyped and your brain just makes this unbreakable vow to not read any of their work!? That was me with @rainbowrowell .But I'm glad I broke that vow because landline was way too adorable to miss. Here's a #minireview.⁣
It's one of those stories where you take your love for granted and then realize that you actually are at fault and need to make it right. This was very much like reading a 90s rom-com. I loved her writing style. ⁣
I love it when you connect with the characters enough that you understand the context of a certain conversation from both view points.⁣
Plus Georgie's inner monologues and her overthinking felt really relatable. Georgie felt like one of those cool older cousins you look up to when you're in your pre teens! (Not that I had any but, Everyone has those right!? For me my sister was enough 🥰💕).⁣
"Georgie you cant be jealous of Dawn. That's like the sun being jealous of a lightbulb"⁣ 💛
This book has the right amount of magic and mystery and fantasy and all that tender love and family and just...it was adorable. 🥰👍super quick read and good for getting out a reading slump. Plus it was full of profound quotes:⁣
"That's what love is georgie. Accidental damage protection" ⁣
Recommend and will probably reread too . 🌻

Book Review: Geekerella by Ashley Poston
Tumblr media
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐💫
"Look to the stars. Aim. Ignite."
In between countless 5 min study breaks I have finally finished this book and it was such a cute read. Heres a #minireview and 5 reasons why you should read this book:
1. It's a fairytale retelling specifically a retelling of cinderella and very by the book. I liked how it played out in the modern world. The "pumpkin" is a food carriage truck. Instead of mice, she has a mouse looking dog (a dachshund). The similarities are cute!🥰😌
2. You.need.a.dorky.MC.POV.in.your.life!!! Darien is so endearing. He was such a cute dork. So many Scott McCall vibes! I liiiiivvvve!!! 💕 #teenwolf
3. The fandom/nerdom feels were on fleek (do we still use this word?) Basically the author was like let other people enjoy and revel in there fandoms cause the fandom life is way way better. Besides like the saying goes: "i didn't choose the fandom life, it chose me" 😎
4. I liked Elle, she was cute, dorky, timid and sometimes not afraid to speak her mind. I just wish she stood up to her stepmother sooner. I liked her friendship with Sage too!! Sage was just the right friend for her!! All chlorine green hair and sharp edges! "She wears life like Elvis wore sequins, with no apology laced into the seams"
5. The fandom in question is like a star wars/ firefly spinoff. I'm not sure cause all I know about these fandoms are that Darth Vader is someone's dad and Nathan Fillion garnered his fans on this show a whole lot more before he came on Castle. Regardless, fans of both these fandoms will love to read and relate to this! 🌌
The one thing I was meh about was how their friendship turned to romance so fast when all they did was text talk without knowing each other's identities. But since this is a short book so (320 pages only)
Totally give this a read. Good book to get out of a reading slump too. It's too cute!

Are you fan of poetry or prose? Selamlar besties.. been quiet here as I'm thinking of what direction I should take my feed in.. I still haven't decided.. Will make changes soon 🤞🏻 I picked this one up last December and only managed to read the first chapter. It was not what I expected, I thought this would be poetry on the personality traits or  physical features of Our Beloved Prophet  (ﷺ) but it isn't that at all. It's more of a story told in prose. The similarities are there, we're introduced to Al-Mustafa (one of the names of our beloved Prophet  (ﷺ), "the choosen one." And his inner turmoil about finally leaving his city because his ship has arrived after 12 long years. The prose is so deep I feel like taking up a whole literature course on it. I just might 😅 👀 I love poetry on God and this one by @poetcalledumi was so beautiful that I made a cute ( i̶ t̶r̶i̶e̶d̶) little spread for it 😊 Its much better when you hear him recite it... I'll share it on my stories 😀 Other poetry books on my radar are: 🍯 milk and honey 🌻 the sun and her flowers (both by Rupi Kaur) 🌹I would leave me if I could: a collection of poetry by Halsey 🇵🇸 any poetry by Mahmood Darwish or Nizar Qabbani  (Arabic poetry just 🤌🏻) 🧚‍♀️Fierce Fairytales by Nikita Gill (I think I've probably read half the book on 📌trest 😅) What's your favorite poetry book? #poetrybooks #bookstagram #Mahmooddarwaish #nizarqabbani #rupikaur #halsey #nikitagill #fiercefairytales #thesunandherflowers #milkandhoney #prose #poetry #pagesofsilver #theprophet #Khalilgibran #muslimpoets #muslimpoetry #islamicpoetry #Bluebooks #booksbooksbooks #bookstgarampakistan #bujospread #bujopoetry #bujopakistan (at Islamabad, Pakistan) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZ7ADVBga6f/?utm_medium=tumblr

Mutlu Pazarlar!! (Happy Sunday!) What's the weather like where you live? For me it's cloudy with intermittent rain and lots of wind - perfect for costing up in bed with a blanket and a book! 😌 Only 20% of Addie LaRue is left, hopefully I'll finish it today. I love the writing, the description, Addie's headstrongness.. can't wait to see how it ends! This is my first book by @veschwab and I adore the third narrative writing style!! 🥰 Have you read the #invisiblelifeofaddielarue?
