Let's go with angst :)

The only time Feyre's body had felt so cold and lifeless in Tamlin's arms had been after Amarantha had killed her. It was just so... wrong, for Feyre to be like this. This cold. This quiet. This broken. And yet here she was, lying in his arms like a limp ragdoll. Her blood was warm, though, permeating the air with its sickly-sweet scent.

It made him want to vomit.

Instead, he fell to his knees and cradled her closer, willing himself not to break, trying desperately to ignore the ashwood dagger in her chest, penetrating her lungs. Pulling it out would make things worse, he knew, but that didn't change the way his fingers twitched to remove it and throw it across the battlefield, far away from them both.

"Don't die on me. Not again," Tamlin begged, but something in him knew it was far too late. Her already thready pulse disappeared, and her chest stopped heaving. She was gone.

Gone. Gone, gone, gone--

He screamed, and vomited, and awoke from the nightmare in a cold sweat, feeling her shaking his arms. Feyre wasn't a dull, lifeless body in his arms; there was no scent of blood. It was just her. Just her.

Tamlin's heart calmed, and with a heavy sigh, he rested his head against her chest, breathing in the scent of her, letting her hands fiddle with his hair.

No death. No blood. Just Feyre.

You know a really random and obscure trope (if it can even be called a trope? I honestly can't remember where I last saw this, that's how obscure it is) that I love in fantasy?

When there's a centuries old immortal who appears to be in their prime and their significantly younger human love interest and the immortal secretly wonders whether their human bf/gf would still love them if they didn't look young and pretty, right? And then the immortal gets like seriously wounded in battle or smth and is on the verge of death and as they're dying they rapidly age or whatever. But they don't die for <insert reason here> and the human love interest nurses them back to health afterwards. And so while the immortal is slowly healing and slowly regaining their youthful appearance at some point is like "you still love me even though I'm not young and pretty anymore? Even though you actively can see what I am????" And the human is just like "yeah????"

Like it hits the feels every time

May I just say, you're so sweet and respectful and kind and your words have made me feel a lot less alone in all this. Thank you for giving me the space to vent and discuss all these whitewashing issues and taking the time out of your day to respond. It's truly appreciated

I'm Black, and this is my blog, so I'm not going to not talk about my lived experiences and how things like representation, whitewashing, and racism in both media and fandom affect me and others.
