I am making this to help out anyone who is writing fanfics or drawing fan art of The Book Of Mormon and wants to draw the elders accurately or keep them in character. I will involve all lines from each character + their fandom given first name and other small things that indicate their personality or traits. I will also state the animal they brought up in I Am Africa since I believe the animals do reflect their personalities in some way.

I JUST GOT BACK FROM SEEING BOOK OF MORMON ON WEST END AND IT WAS THE GREATEST THING IN THE ENTIRE WORLD

My dad surprised me with first row center tickets last night and I’ve been begging him to see the show for so long I was sooo freaking excited

I was literally grinning ear to ear through the entire thing. Easily makes my top three best things I’ve ever been to (Taylor swift concert, snl barricades are the other two lol).

This was my first time sitting front row at professional theater and it was so worth it. Its literally magical and I hope everyone gets to experience it at some point

OK now to the show

- colin was so fucking funny as mckinley I was literally dying and turn it off was so good. I tried to squint through the darkness to see the quick change but I couldn’t lol, guess that one video is the only way ill ever see them actually doing it lol

- baptize me was the best and funniest thing I’ve seen in a long long time. the entire audience was dying laughing the entire time. and the detail of naba’s shirt being wet after the gets baptized. wonderful

- idk how long they’ve been doing this for but after price comes into the mission hut with blood all over him the other elders start freaking out until poptarts just screams, silences everyone, and does the turn it off motion and all of them get calm and it was so fucking funny oh my god

- mckinley trying to stop the play in the middle of it. just starts clapping and trying to step in front of naba. colin!mckinley I love you so much

- the guy who played church looked identical to rory o’malley and i kept getting distracted by that so i missed McKinley’s enterance in smhd and the build up to price’s “fuck him” bc I kept looking at him 😭

- conner/cunningham is so fucking good. He is so funny I could not stop laughing. one of my favorite cunninghams ever. he made me love arnold sm more now. and he is SUCH a great singer like genuinely fantastic

- stage door culture for west end is so much different than broadway!! I forgot to bring a pen (on Broadway everyone has their own sharpies) so I shared with this one girl and her mom from Mexico, they were the only other people there

- my dad told conner he was better than josh gad and he was like who??? we don’t talk about him!! It was so funny lol

FINALLY musical theatre my jam.

If Hosea gave his kids one thing, it was an appreciation for the arts. Or he dragged them kicking and screaming until they liked it.

Mentioned somewhere else a long time ago but Hosea and Bessie literally went to broadway for their anniversary, which ended up being Hosea's introduction to modern theatre productions (Rocky Horror, Bessie's pick and Hosea's newest guilty pleasure). It then became everyone's problem.

No matter the quality of the production, Hosea goes to every local show he can. From high school productions of Romeo and Juliet to travelling 3 hours to see a OBC shows travelling the country in Saint Denis, he's there. Usually with a victim.

Kieran (as the most accessible victim, living with Hosea) enjoys the performative aspects of theatre but the noise is too much for him. Hosea loathes it but it's not uncommon for Kieran to be listening to his own music during a show but still enjoying the acting.

Arthur has more of a flare for modern classics: west side story, little shop of horrors, chicago, cats, sound of music. He actively enjoys musicals that are that slight bit unrealistic and silly or romantize the 20th century. Is always willing to go with Hosea when their schedules line up. Charles does not understand. Arthur tried to get him to sit through Cats (1998) and Charles just walked off.

John will say he hates theatre and wishes he could spend time with Hosea any other way, but all the modern musicals pop up in his playlist. He truly has the taste of an angsty teenager - heathers, the warriors, next to normal!!!, book of mormon. Learned to pronounce the spanish lyrics of in the heights correctly and Javier punched him because really? you'll learn spanish to sing along to a musical??

Abigail also really enjoys going but only for romances. really likes dogfight. ugly cried during waitress.

John can be found sitting in his car drunk crying listening to superboy and the invisible girl. Arthur was also so emotionally devastated by next to normal that he broke a decade of not smoking.

Phantom is a sore subject because obviously when Hosea, Arthur and John saw it they all knew Dutch would love it, took Dutch - and Dutch became the most obnoxious Erik apologist ever. Dutch would argue Love Never Dies is superior because Christine admits to having made the wrong choice and blah blah he's very painfully obviously projecting about all the stuff that happened between him, Hosea and Bessie in a very embarrassing way and the gang vow to never bring it up around him again.

Hosea still takes him to see Love Never Dies on the rare occasions it is playing because Dutch does genuinely enjoy it. But christ the lectures afterwards. The poor underpaid theatre bar staff asking them to leave two hours later because they've been drinking whiskey and wine and bickering since the show ended.
