Toon Time Theater presents... THE 6TH U-PICK POLL!
Hello, anime fans. This is Gabriel Ramos, the DJ and broadcaster for T3 Express and Toon Time Theater. August will be a heated up month considering how many cartoons will be joining the Saturday morning lineup now that HAIKYU!! Season 1 and THE SLAYERS TRY ended their runs. However, I've been indecisive on what to broadcast on August 10. I know (lunar) Tanabata will be happening, but I want to wrap up that Japanese holiday with something loud and strong. The possible programs and blocks for this poll are as follows:
* THE SLAYERS REVOLUTION (THE SLAYERS Season 4)
* The Tatami Galaxy
* Moriarty The Patriot
* PUELLA MAGI MADOKA MAGICA
* Overtake
* MF GHOST
* OSHI NO KO
* Heaven Official's Blessing
* Boogiepop Phantom
* E/I Block B: BARTENDER ~Glass of God~ & Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 2 (E/I)
You have until August 9 at 2 PM PDT to make your selection. When the time comes, I will end the T3 Express peepshow to review your selections before live-streaming SAILOR MOON. The cartoon (or block) with the most votes will join the Saturday Morning Animation Cram Session officially. Think of this U-PICK poll as a Tanabata tree, and think of your vote as a wish strip. Once Tanabata ends, I will cut off the poll time, and the most-voted program or block will flow away, with your wish being granted.

Free web-television service PlutoTV has a couple of anime channels, and I often wonder about why they're programmed the way that they are. In addition to a couple channels that just show endless loops of One Thing In Particular (there's a One Piece channel for example), there are two main ones; Anime All Day and Crunchyroll TV.
Anime All Day tends toward a very small programming library of mostly "classic" anime, I've seen Jojo, Hunter x Hunter, and Death Note on there, mainly, with the occasional appearance by Great Teacher Onizuka, a horror/mystery thing of some stripe (both The Devil Lady and Boogiepop Phantom seem to crop up pretty often) or occasionally something truly old and busted in the wee hours of the morning (Ronin Warriors for example). The overall library seems pretty small and there are a lot of repeats. If you watch this channel enough, you will eventually see everything on it, I'm pretty sure. The Crunchyroll channel is where I start scratching my head a little.
As far as I can tell, the Crunchyroll channel is actually deliberately programmed, in that shows run in blocks of about 2 hours, usually with each show taking up a weekly timeslot, often twice on their given day in that week. But the actual programming is kind of nuts, I've seen everything from absolute banger thriller anime (this channel is how I first found out about Noir), mostly-forgotten 00s sci-fi like Burst Angel and Vandread, to much more recent stuff like Ayakashi Triangle, Scar on the Pretear, and The Maid I Hired Recently is Mysterious, or even just---sorry for using this term---slop isekai like Arifutera which that one in particular seems to run on there all the damn time. These things will air back to back with no real regard for flow or structure, and sometimes the shorter ones air in the same slots a couple of times in a row over the course of a few weeks. I assume to give parity to the longer shows? But I'm not really sure. It just seems really random, but surely somebody is programming this stuff, since it airs in an actual structured format, I guess my point of confusion is just why it's structured like this. A little bit ago I randomly tuned in to find out that someone had dusted off 10 year old kemonomimi idol anime Show By Rock and stuck it on there.
I wonder if there's some kind of pattern to it or if whoever's in charge of this is basically just throwing darts at a board.
I will also note that the one commonality is that whatever ends up on the Crunchyroll channel is nearly always the dub. The only times they seem to run subbed anime is when there just isn't a dub for a series at all, and I've only seen that once or twice.
Also! The Crunchyroll channel has two unique ads to it compared to the rest of PlutoTV. Unsurprisingly, these are both for shows on Crunchyroll, one is for Attack on Titan and the other is for Jujutsu Kaisen. I can't imagine who in the world would possibly be watching the Crunchyroll channel on PlutoTV and not have access to either a CR account or some other way to watch those shows, if they want to, so I don't know why that's what you'd pick to advertise, but maybe this is why I don't work in marketing.

hey mara, what are your top 5 anime? and top 5 VNs?
hey, anonymous;
this isn:t really ordered in any hierarchy and i:ll probably go over five for anime, but these are series i really enjoy, mean a lot to me, and like to rewatch:
boogiepop phantom, boogiepop and others, baccano (really anything by that author i:ll probably love but baccano is my favorite), .hack//sign, .hack//dusk (this one is kinda awful but it means a lot to me), really anything .hack//, the saki series; love akagi (anything by fkmt but the first few episodes of akagi has a great vibe); a big part of me wants to say akiba maid war and akudama drive (the emotional highs for both are so good, & both have some of the best final episodes out of everything listed); a small part of me wants to say stuff like: naruto, dragon ball, hunter x hunter, nabari, majin neuro, trigun -- they:re not series that immediately jumps out as me as "all time favorites" but in the right mood i /love/ thinking about them (i:d always used to daydream about being in the naruto setting and my perfect naruto MMO where you:d be born in the world to a random village -- i wanted to be mist or sound); may-be at the lowest i:d put FLCL, i love FLCL but it:s lke .hack//dusk where it was just time+place; kind of want to say madlax too, honestly, but it:s such a slow show it:d be a struggle to rewatch it (the beetrain phenomenon of making glacial-paced shows carried entirely by scenes of two characters talking), but it:s great
VNs i don:t think i:ve played enough to really have much of a list, but tsui no sora remake / subahibi would be on it; everything team_cpu made would be on it (mostly archangel:nemesis but all of her works seem connected to me, & even despite whatever friction is/was between us she:ll always be a top-tier writer and artist to me that inspires me); i really love 2236 AD but (i always describe it this way) it:s an extremely mid game, with an insanely good opening, /but/ as an entire experience it is perfect, and it is perfect because it is extremely mid (if it were better, and better written, it wouldn:t have as much of an impact at the end -- it has one of the best ending sequences in anything i:ve ever read; here watch the trailer); maybe true remembrance (just a fun sleepy read, enjoyed my time with it); maybe soundless (kinda trauma-porn which i don:t love, but the author did such a good job with the setting that i just enjoyed my entire time spent with it); maybe walk in the sun (a vncup entry! i:ve replayed it ~4 times and it:s just an extremely solid short read that i loved); i haven:t played it in awhile but i remember loving sengoku rance, and i love the alicesoft:s settings (toushin toshi is amazing imo & all the lore in rance is just so much fun); love the narcissu series too (especially 2 & the neet-hiki one) but i try to stay away from reading sad stuff lately;
that:s all that comes to mind; ok thank you anonymous take care.

Last week was utter hell, with a new class, a new schedule, and my sleep going out of whack. I'm still trying to readjust, and let me explain why I'm mentioning all of this. Almost nothing would have motivated me to get out of my zone and type this post except for Frieren. Frieren is one of my favorite manga series. If you've talked to me about anime/manga before, you would know this. So, ever since it was announced, it has been one of my most anticipated series. To add to that, Keiichirou Saitou was announced as the director. He's a great example of an upcoming new-gen director who has excelled in everything he's been a part of. From the beautiful and abstract EDs he created for The Executioner and Her Way of Life or Boogiepop, to the mesmerizing, dreamlike episodes he directed for Sonny Boy, and the expressive, now very popular Bocchi the Rock. He was a perfect choice as a director for a series like this, and let me tell you, he delivered fully.
Just from a quick glance, you can see how the show looks. Everything is eye-catching, making it almost hard to focus on one particular element because they all just look so good, and no, it's not just the chromatic aberration causing the lack of focus. The various departments responsible for compositing, the background, and the overall color design have done an outstanding job, creating a beautiful and cohesive piece of art. Seeing someone you might consider a less experienced director pulling off such a complete and harmonious experience is incredible. In terms of design, the whole show is aesthetically pleasing. It's not the experimental work you saw in Sonny Boy; it's going in a totally different direction, like a beautiful painting that should be framed on a wall.
It works very well when paired with, you know, how Frieren is as a story. The fantasy world they are in isn't an extremely unique one. You've seen it before; it's fairly typical in that sense. But that's not truly the point. The main focus is showing the day-to-day or year-to-year life of this immortal elf girl, Frieren, and how she views time, how she remembers her past. It's not an incredibly grand adventure, but with the small lens we have on these characters, it feels like a cherished moment, something that should be captured in a photo or painting. It's beautiful in a very simple way. It's not a series made for extremely large moments, I think Frieren has always been focused on a simpler view of life, much like a painting. The smaller details of such a straightforward approach are highlighted so well. The trees in the environment, the squirrels just moving around—there's so much life in each scene. It really all comes together for me like a piece of art.
The consistency lasts through all four episodes, and the staff distribution also seems fairly good, so I expect this to continue throughout the two cours. The pacing itself is perfect. I've really enjoyed how the story has been adapted to animation so far. I believe that nowadays, many anime series have fallen into the pitfalls of adapting things too quickly to capture the interest of newer viewers early on. However, the series composition for Frieren here is excellent.
This writeup might have been shorter than most people were expecting considering how amazing the anime adaptation is and how much I love the source material, but what can really be said about except just praising? I feel like even if you don't like the source material, the anime's execution is almost undeniably good. Additionally, as I said this past week has not been kind to me so my energy is a bit drained, at first I was planning to be more specific in my write up and make points more adhering to the specifics of each episode, but I didn't really have time for that. However, I will do my best to cover every Frieren episode weekly from now on. Make no mistake this is going to be my favorite series from this year.

are there any other anime you've seen or know of like red garden that are somewhat hidden gems or backlist series that are somewhat obscure?
I have watched a lot of anime.. spent most of the early 2000s doing so... quite a bit of it now obscure/not remembered. I have all these on DVD, some may be out of print, no idea where to stream them. Good luck!
5 Centimeters per Second (movie)- Slice-of-life that progresses through time. The prettiest scenery I've ever seen.
Armitage the III (movie)- cyberpunk, if you liked Ghost in the Shell, you'll probably like this (robot lady cop)
BoogiePop Phantom (tv series)- This would be the most like Red Garden, I think in that its spooky things happening to students and made in the early 2000s.
C-control (tv series)-- for those who like Digimon and are familiar with the horrors of capitalism. Like, if you ever thought the devil was in charge of electronic finances. But also like anime monster battles.
The Count of Monte Christo (Gankutsuou) (tv series)- if you liked the patterned look in the opening of Red Garden, all the art is like that. Very pretty if unfaithful adaption of the book.
El Cazador de la Bruja (tv series)- an amnesiac witch protected by a female bodyguard, on the run through desert towns. I think this would be for those who like Trigun, but wish it was more about 2 girls who were friends and developed a bit of more-than-friends feelings for eachother.
Haibane Renmei (tv series)-similar to RedGarden in that these girls have died and been reborn into new bodies and new roles in life, but there is no fighting, only self-discovery.
Jormungand (tv series)- a female weapons dealer adopts a child soldier boy onto her ship, and she has, to quote the back cover "a warped plan for world peace"
Kamisama Kiss (tv series)- would appeal to those who like Fruits Basket
Millennium Actress (movie)- made me cry! the mysteries of an actress' past are revealed through the roles she's played.
Noein (tv series)- I don't know how to explain it, its weird? Time travel, other dimensions. Unique art style. Did air on American TV, but was promptly forgotten about after.
Rahxephon (tv series)-what if Neon Genesis Evangelion was less depressing? Not sure how I feel about the ending. Technically a happy ending. but. hmmm.
Shangri-La (tv series)- posted about it on Tumblr years ago, an anime that addresses global warming with a spunky girl fighting for a better future, so may be even more relevant now than when it was made
The 12 Kingdoms (tv series)- Japanese people transported to fantasy worlds may be a common genre now, but this is when it wasn't all the rage, and it has very thought-out worldbuilding.

Suruga-Ya Art Book Haul
It's crazy. I made this order Friday night, and it's at my doorstep Wednesday afternoon. And I didn't even pay for shipping thanks to the campaign that Suruga-ya was running. The average cost of a book here is under 10CAD, all said and done, so I really can't recommend giving it a shot if you're looking for art books.
Anyways, these are the ones I grabbed, and I'd love to take a walk through each of them and why I got them.
Prince Universe - Mutsumi Inomata
This is the first, and oldest art book in the haul, and that age and position comes with reason. Inomata is an insanely tenured animator, dating all the way back into the end of the 70s. They've worked on series like City Hunter, Saint Seiya, Maison Ikkoku, and many many others. One of the best things about the art book is the age of the style, and not in a bad way. No, these drawings have aged like fine wine over the years and are very beautiful.
Hydrogen - Tsuruta Kenji
Need I really say anything? It's Tsuruta Kenji, incredible art and a healthy side of nudity are present in everything they do. Really though, I think what I like most about Hydrogen is its range, opening with a short manga and ending with a large amount of black & white line art. Though who am I kidding, his works that are done in color are still incredible, and there's something that I just love about his character designs.
Boogiepop And Others - Koji Ogata
Despite its relative popularity for the era, Boogiepop isn't something that really ends up talked about all that much. But I'm a big fan of it and its style/designs, so I had to pick up the art book from the illustrator for the light novels.
Nostalgia - Tsukiji Nao
Admittedly, I'd not heard of Nao before finding this art book. But I saw the cover and knew I wanted it, and now I'm in the middle of reading Adekan as its got me in its grips, and for good reason. Nao's art is incredibly beautiful, and I'd say the "best" out of this batch of art books.
Mix Noise - Misaki Saitou
Saitou is just a damn good artist. Their style presents a discernable age, and a very palpable edge that I just can't get enough of. They're not on the level of Nao, but it's a style of art that I could look at all day long. Side note, the art for the second was for the cover of a manga. Yeah, imagine seeing art like that on a manga. I'd immediately pick it up.
Okamarble -Okama
Despite my excitement and interest in the artist, I don't know if I'm the biggest fan of this art book. Okama is known for having storyboarded some pieces of the stunning Kubikiri Cycle ONA as well as doing some art for Arakawa Under The Bridge and even character designs for some other SHAFT series. I do think their art is pretty, I'm just not a fan of the more erotic nature of the book at large (which delves into full on nudity towards the end). So yeah, I don't think this is an art book for people that aren't die hard Kubikiri Cycle/SHAFT fans, but the art within is still really good.
Step2 - Hisashi Eguchi
Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely a fan of Hisashi Eguchi. I love their design sense, and am a massive sucker for their color design and style of shading/lighting. Buttttttt I got this art book because of the Sonny Boy art in it. I know, sue me, but this is just about the only art book out there that has Sonny Boy art in it from a staff member on the anime.
World of The Tapir - Shizuku
In a world where it feels like there's a near unlimited amount of great artists, how do you separate yourself? Well, what separates them for me is color design. Having fresh and unique art that plays on color and provides a strong sense of individuality is a surefire way to get my attention like World of The Tapir did. Not that the art itself isn't pretty, but the color design is what really singled it out for me.
Kaleidoscope - Keiko Takemiya
Being a part of the Year 24 group is introduction enough, I feel. But I'll keep going. Being a pioneer not of just shoujo manga, but manga in general, Takemiya has a pretty impressive bit of history behind her, which this book details. Not so much "art book" as it is "visual memoir", it's a very interesting piece that I'll be slowly digesting over time alongside it's timelessly pretty art.
1017 - Toinana
I...don't have anything to write for this art book. Toinana is an illustrator that I found on pixiv and so I stumbled across this art book. I love their character designs for how busy and creative they are, but I don't really have any sort of history to explain with them because I don't know too much, really.
Asai Genji / Kusanaga Rin Artworks
I've been a fan of Kusanaga Rin's artwork in The Faraway Paladin since I first laid eyes on the covers for the series, so imagine my surprise when I found out they had a penname. Even further, imagine my excitement in finding out they've done art for Fate (among plenty of other video games). If you want art closer to the video game side of JP culture then I can definitely recommend this one.
And so finally that's the end of the list. There's a lot of art for me to enjoy in these books, so I'll certainly be taking my time with them. But not too sow though, have to make sure I've got a clean slate for the next time suruga-ya has a free shipping sale. Seriously, even with the minor price differences between the JP and global website, the free shipping makes books like these a steal. Absolutely love art within books that are in outstanding or even borderline amazing condition, there's not really a way you could go wrong if you're looking for this stuff.
Also, for those that have read this far and want just a little more (literally a single image more per art book) I will have a video up on my TikTok account (yes I caved and made one, largely for art books) tomorrow morning EST, so feel free to check it out.

kaiju no. 8..... good... i love u kafka hibino
tags got too long so i put them under the cut instead n then it got longer (not abt kn8 just blabbing abt stuff in general)
anyways i'm thinking of reviving my reading tag (#book eating event) bc tbh i need to go back to reading pages full of words that aren't my own n i still haven't finished boogiepop or umineko yet. if u know a vn or even a novel u think i'd like feel free to lmk n maybe i'll check it out as i finish those 2 series (WITH WARNINGS PLZ. no more repeats of every other time i asked for recs) i also have the stranger i'm pretty sure
kn8 rlly did end up being the only new show i watched this season along with a couple movies
no idea what (new) i'll watch for the next season if anything at all. maybe i'm finally free from seasonal anime (until kn8 s2 n drhdr s2 ofc). there's the new mononoke coming up soon but thats a movie
lots of anime reviewers say every season is the best season like woahh all these heavy hitters it's so packed but. well to avoid going into a mean rant i tend to not have the same taste as them at all so lately it's been feeling like theres nothing to watch thats recent (plus i'm not constantly going outta my way to keep up w shows i kno from the start r bad the way ppl like mothersbasement do)
n where the hell r the old menwait a minute
?? ok well i have to watch that one i read the manga so.
i have games in my backlog that i've been too scared to start bc i haven't fixed my battery issue with the laptop i use play them. maybe i'll stop caring n just let that thing explode all over my room cuz theres no way i can replace it any time soon... n i still got ynfgs to play but theres no reason to rush or force those
and ihave. to work. which rn is just job searching while doing comms; holds my head. still waiting for someone to hire me for their long old man yaoi horror vn

Change of Plans
It turns out that I will delay the Boogiepop Phantom Marathon to October 31 at 6:30 PM PDT, and the marathon that will be played on October 26 will actually be a JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE marathon, but only the nine Phantom Blood arc episodes. I decided on this because I heard Toonami will throw in some more MY HERO ACADEMIA reruns after their UZUMAKI marathon, and I want to time the former with my HAIKYU!! second season broadcasts on Toon Time Theater. Also, I have obligated to air SONIC X every weekend until the end of September 2025, buying some time until the 2026 World Cup is around the corner. However, I will edit all nine episodes so all red-colored blood is replaced by white-colored liquid similar to sweat.
So, here are the updated lineups for Toon Time Theater and its special marathons. However, you don't have to take my word for it.
261024
All Times Pacific Daylight Time
6.0A - SONIC X (Episode 30)
JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE Marathon (featuring white blood edits)
6.5A - Episode I

8.0A - Episode IV
8.5A - Episode V

Hopey's History of Anime Reviews
This is really a database for myself more than anything. I wanted to compile my own set of links for all the long review posts I've written. But then I thought "Maybe other people would like to know about some of them, too?" So here's the list!
Fair warning: I have tendency to write these things whenever a show sticks in my head... which usually means I loved it or hated it. Not always! But... yeaaaeah, most of these probably fall into the "loved" or "hated" categories.
Anime Reviews
Kokoro Connect
From the New World/Shin Sekai Yori
Angel Beats!
Shirobako
Boogiepop & Others
Tomadachi Game AND Trapped in a Dating Sim: TWoOGiTfM
Babylon
Engage Kiss
Blood-C
Zombie Land Saga Revenge
Godzilla Singular Point
Love After World Domination
Doreiku (a.k.a. "Slave District")
Summer Time Rendering
Why Reiliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion
Reign of the Seven Spellblades
Not Exactly Reviews...
Deadman Wonderland - A mini-review, perhaps? It was my first time doing this... so it's more like an impression.
Chainsaw Man - This isn't a full-on review, especially since I wasn't even finished catching up with the show when I wrote it. But everything I said here is still true even after catching up with it, so... it basically tells you what I think of it.
Fate/Extra - Last Encore - Summarizing the entire series in a mocking manner, bc wtf was this show.
King's Game - Just a mocking post about its many, many failings.
Danganronpa 3 - A list of 8 major things I love about it.

hello. i'm not sure how to phrase this properly but do you have any advice on not being afraid of being social with real humans? i admit i am a bit paranoid. i do not want to share anything about myself with anyone in real life, i do not want to use any social media that can be easily traced back to my real identity, i am afraid of meeting up with and talking to people i can meet locally etc. i know that human connection requires vulnerability and being "real", but i've seen far too many examples of people being bullied for being themselves and from my experiences relationships don't last that long, i can't keep friends, so it's almost not worth it to open up that much because it can be used against you later once you stop talking etc etc etc., at least that's what i think. i don't know how to perceive people as kind and stop being afraid. it's hard. sorry if this question is not phrased well.
hi anonymous; i:m terrible to ask for this!
i have basically no real-life relationships and my whole life has basically been a tomb built upon an inability to change, connect, and grow; spiritually i:m like what happens if the bacteria inside an empty house is allowed to stagnate and flow in-to the floorboards till it becomes like a fat pungent jelly saturating the baseboards, principal post, foundation; nasty and tepid and like a black mold :-))!
any-ways: what helped me get-over my social anxiety, slightly, was just gradual exposure at my own behest: forcing myself to go-out and get something nice for myself weekly/daily; when i had a little more money: this would be stopping out for coffee; or: just going to a thrift-store and looking at books.
for internet stuff and bullying: being open and facing consequence for your own existence is just part-and-parcel of being a person; even: if you are "making a career out of yourself" (whether it be an artist, or just some prolific poster (i:d consider this a career, absolutely, because when i was "way emotionally worse" i:d more-or-less literally get financially incentivized for being actively suicidal and mentally ill--blood sacrifice)) you sort-of implicitly are surrendering a barrier between yourself and other, cause ultimately it:s All About Connection & people don:t connect to barriers super well; incidentally, i think i had a worse time with "bullying" when i had more to be ashamed about myself, and had more internal insecurities -- but i also cared more about my identity as an artist; i:ve Confronted(!) the parts i:ve been too ashamed to confront and made peace with them, and now am mostly content with just housekeeping.
But: i:m still terrifically lonely. purpose and identity helps there; the only things that have ever abated the loneliness for me is being completely ensorcelled with /something/ (like a writing project, drawing, fleshing out an inner world, feeling like i am furthering my goal to the Communication/bacteria) -- and those only come as impulses for me; without: every-day is just a lonely dead-quiet stretch between meals that:s filled up with finding excuses to keep myself busy.
~but: i think that:s also "better;" i keep myself to a routine and give myself responsibilities that i don:t let myself shirk (my praying, my cleaning, my exercising, forcing myself to go to church once a week, my cooking, my grocery shopping); it:s like what moto realizes at the end of boogiepop phantom episode 1,
unfortunately we have to reconcile ourselves by ourselves, and likely: that is a life-time struggle that none of us get to shirk;
if you:d like a recommendation, anonymous, i:d like you to watch "boogiepop and others" (not "boogiepop phantom") episode 6; it:s an episode about that struggle, suema talks about it; if i:m feeling super-duper down i:ll listen to that conversation @ the end of episode 6 between suema and aya, about the struggle with the imaginator, and whether-or-not boogiepop is real.
anyways, i don:t think i gave you great advice here anonymous; even: i doubt any of this will lift your spirits >:-)) but @ minimum: try to be kind to yourself, including patience with yourself, and also responsibility to yourself; often it seems like people are awaiting another to come and pluck the dirt out of us: but that dirt is us, and all another can do is add more slurry to us.
take care chief.

Let's see. What's been happening. A lot of cat sitting, which is good because it's money for my trip coming up in ten days! I'm meeting some people from the Slayers Discord and dressing as Lina. I am so excited. I'm getting the costume done. It's my first major cosplay. I will also be wearing it (minus the wig and headband because I'll just have had botox) for the Halloween anime night! It will be the first Halloween in a loooong time that I'll be dressing up! I'm so excited for that one. Even though my friend won't be there, who likes Slayers. The first 2 anime nights went well! First one we had three more people, and had a scavenger hunt with prizes and watched Spy x Family. (Love the show now. Almost season 2 time!) The 2nd one we had two more people but they didn't stay for long since there were games happening. But we painted rocks, colored animal pics and watched Fruits Basket. Oct will be Boogiepop Phantom. I haven't seen it in so long. And the costume contest will be fun. I'm so so happy we switched since there seems to be more of an interest in the gaming place than the library. The people have been really nice so far too and the owners are nice to work with. I'm glad to be making more in person friends. With cat sitting I had two weekends with an established client and then got a new one via my friend. It's her stepdaughter's cat Ava who is going blind. She is so sweet and has the loudest purr I have ever heard. And she snores too! So cute! 🙂 My cat knows when I go to the other cat's house. Lol she actually played with my dad the other day. Sat was the baby shower for my cousin. It was a nice shower and it was good to see family again that I haven't in awhile. But I also had just heard that my uncle in Vegas having stage 4 pancreatic cancer and was near the end. He actually passed away on Sun. I miss him already. I'm glad I could see him a couple yrs ago. But it's never enough time. He was always so cheerful, good with kids, just a big teddybear. I know he is no longer suffering but it's hard for the people still here. I guess he was just diagnosed too. Puts your life in perspective. Which is why I am trying to figure out something for my neck. After my trip I'm seeing a new pain doctor. As my last one was not very knowledgeable. I had an MRI finally after almost a month of hassling and to find out I have mild arthritis. It's not mild. Tonight it's been especially bad. Some of it may be emotional right now, but I know it's not all in my head. Hopefully when I get back I'll figure out a course of action. I did get a red light therapy pad that is just red lights with a little heat. That has been helping and ice. But I need this to stop. I want to get back to enjoying life. Well, that's all pretty much. Sorry for the long one. Oh also doing Slayers Artober and so far it's been really fun and therapeutic. Now to just finish my costume in time.

howdy Tumblr, I also made one of these. They're pretty fun distractions to engage with in a group of friends in, say a Discord channel or something similar, just don't make the same mistake I did and underrate the difficulty of how hard it would be to figure out your characters due to the Curse of Knowledge, lol This was my first attempt at creating a round of the game featuring my character Tax, a symbiote ghost maid singlehandedly devoted to helping her surrogate daughter bring about the end of the world. Her powers include being entirely made of fabric that she can control telekinetically, and the ability to taxidermize the dead and puppeteer them to fight on her behalf. Will that be relevant for the guessing game? Possibly! The names of the sets are: -Classic (from a video game) -Bounded (Video game) -Hollow (Video Game) -Super-Ego (Anime) -Catalyst (Anime) Answers for Tax below:
Classic: Mega Banette, a reference to Tax's design origins as a banette cultist.
Bounded: Legion (from Astral Chain), pulled due to how I envision Tax's fighting style when paired with Masei.
Hollow: Omega (Base design, from Megaman Zero 3). Tax is a former incarnation of a primary character from my OC world, whose story involves having to overcome them and re-define themselves in light of the new knowledge they receive regarding their past. Additionally, both Tax and Omega are being used by the overarching antagonists of their stories to enact destruction at scale, albeit with different intentions. On a purely physical line, it can also be implied that this version of Omega is housing the Original Zero's body within it as well, sharing some similarities with Tax's nature as a symbiote.
Super-Ego: Boogiepop (from Boogiepop Phantom, would recommend for anyone looking for an anime with a similar vibe to Serial Experiments Lain albeit in a paranormal murder investigation bent.) Boogiepop was picked due to outfit similarities, being an uncontrollable alter-ego of another character, and for their ability to manipulate threads to kill and maim, an ability that Tax can also utilize on a much more radical scale.
Catalyst: Alexis Kerib (from SSSS.Gridman), pulled for both their aesthetic and their shared trait of being a key part of the primary antagonist's ability to create monsters in their setting. If you participated, thanks for playing and I hope you enjoyed the distraction! Spread it around your friend groups and see what they think as well! Have a blast with it!
The OC Palette Guessing Game!
My friends and I made up a game where we draw our OCs in different palettes and try to deduce which character it is! It's a fun game to play over chat like Discord.
Here are some palettes featuring my foxgirl OC. Can you guess the character reference? (Hint: These characters are all foxgirls.)
Solutions can be found under the cut.

hi reading log #4
Cell of Empireo [up to the end of chapter 6 (arrival point s)]
GOOD LORD. this game has made me make so many noises outloud
gameplay wise its kinda interesting that they opt to have no music in a lot of parts n i feel like i'd get super lost if i was playing myself but i'm watching a translation so watevar the other stuff is more important
it's a 2018 game (i'm pretty sure?) but it reminds me sooooooooo much of 2012 rpg horror games n i say this positively n there's not that many eng fans either so it's like a game w an old soul to me lmao
also i NEEEED that official physical book to get restocked so bad i'm subscribed to sharktale factory's pixiv fanbox n everything now
here's some of my livetweeting
------------------ spoilers for coe up to chapter 7 start here ///
this game really got me thinking at points. i like how i was able to figure out shinano was origin b without/before karen's hint, the twist w reiji n haruki made me go Whoa (it also made me scared of the fandom bc :/ )
i bet my ass kanou has some kinda fucked up cell powers like there's no way he's dead but there's also no way he just faked his death istg i saw him get shot in the head. + BLOOD LOSS.
i think shinano might be my fav rn my normal dog boy
/// spoilers for coe up to chapter 7 end here ------------------------
Boogiepop [book 2, ch2]
once again slowly chipping away at boogiepop
i drew comparisons to the phantom anime again; the situation with the flowers in the novel sounds very similar to the situation with the spiders in the anime at least on the surface. maybe it won't have the same outcome for atsukai but tbh i feel like he's gonna die?
also there's a guy named spooky electric. huh
Umineko
i haven't actually played since my last session but seeing certain vague spoilers makes me wonder wtf is gonna go down in this game like what do you mean the "your mom" thing is real. n battler tells beatrice to kys in some translations??? i need to get to the point where this lady finally shows her face already
Other things
during steam sales months ago i got this one vn on an impulse n i can't remember if i ever mentioned it here n i kinda gave up at some point
i didn't wanna use the full cover image bc!@#@$%
i wish i could find a game like this except w better art + writing n a protag who is just as old (n not a girl?)
n i know gay romance vns w Oldmen exist but the kind i'm looking for is so SPECIFIC n i haven't found it yet put a guy who looks like fgo james moriarty or schwartz alchstars in there. gimme dateable kaburagi kotetsu or like. that oden guy from the pillow boys. u feel me
#book eating event#includes: coe - boogiepop (vs imaginator) - umineko - other#i went n edited the prev logs to have that 'includes' tag just bc i figured it'd be nice#edit WHOOPS i meant ch6 not 7
