#fixating on the shining a little bit bc im listening to the audiobook so i rewatched the movie and god. i forget how bad it is every time#not only did he fuck up the source material in every way and abuse shelley duvall but the movie is also just really boring#like the book is boring too but for different reasons and i'd rather learn about the hotel than whatever the fuck the movie was#he got every character wrong. especially wendy#he made her a shell of a person when she's very protective and anxious about danny in the book#in the movie she openly shares the fact that jack broke danny's arm when it was a huge point of contention in the book#like she almost divorced jack for it but couldn’t move out#the fact that he couldn't let hallorann be the hero either and completely changed the ending 👍#boo we hate your (stanley kubrick) pussy!#they should invent a the shining adaptation that's actually good
