{AO3 link for No Context November}
(Halloween bonus) * (3867 words) - A Horror-ble Idea {Lukanette} [Horror Movies] [Fluff] [Childhood Friends] [Confession] [Kiss]
Marinette had been friends with Luka for years, having shared just about everything except for her crush on him. Deciding it's time to change that, she tries to come up with the ultimate plan to prove her love for him.
It has varying results.
Day 1 ^ (1597 words) - {Lukanette} [Adulthood] [Meeting Again]
Luka meets Marinette again after years and realizes that he wasn't the only one pining.
Day 2 ^ (2223 words) - {Lukanette} [Drama] [Confession] [post-"Silencer"]
Marinette makes a decision regarding Luka's confession in "Silencer," as much as she doesn't want to.
Day 3 ^ (2971 words) - {Lukanette} [Sleeping Problems] [Trauma] [post-"Chat Blanc"] [Light Girl Squad Salt]
Luka approaches an exhausted Marinette, unaware of her terrifying experience in an alternate timeline of Paris.
Day 4 * (1648 words) - {Lukanette} ["Silencer"] [Canon Divergence] [Marinette and Luka are Confident and In Love] [Love Square Salt]
"Clear as a music note, sincere as a melody." Those words kept echoing in Marinette's head, not unlike a chorus on replay.
And perhaps she was the song in his head simply because she'd wanted to be there in the first place.
Day 5 ^ (1086 words) - {Lukanette} [Adulthood] [Charity Auction] [Silly] [Flirting] [(implied) Adrino]
A charity auction is held, selling off dates with famous men to any woman with enough cash to throw at them for it.
Marinette just didn't know the list would include a rock star's son.
Day 6 ^ (1431 words) - {Lukanette} [Silly] [Confession]
Two fools in love stop being as foolish as before.
Day 7 ^ (1707 words) - {Lukanette} [Luka Hears Heart Songs] [Rock Star Anarka Couffaine] [Luka's Father is Not Jagged Stone]
Luka senses music in most things he experiences, yet somehow Marinette is still a unique one.
Day 8 * (1963 words) - {Lukanette} [Post-Dating] [Gift Giving] [(Adrimi But Only Mentioned)]
Marinette had been dating Luka for a while now and she couldn't have been happier. He was everything she could've wanted in a boyfriend: attentive, mature, and incredibly loving.
But maybe there was also such a thing as too loving?
Day 9 ^ (3854 words) - {Lukanette} [Adulthood] [Homeless Luka Couffaine]
Marinette worries about her homeless friend when cold washes over her town.
Day 10 ^ (3431 words) - {Lukanette} [Fantasy] [Witch Marinette Dupain-Cheng] [Naga Luka Couffaine]
Marinette meets a musical naga boy while she's working on new ideas for her magic.
Day 11 ^ (1523 words) - {Lukanette} [Adulthood] [Baker Marinette Dupain-Cheng] [Childhood Friends]
Luka stops by a bakery in town and sees a familiar face. He has mixed feelings about it.
Day 12 * (2678 words) - {Viperbug} [Sparring] [Introspection]
For Ladybug, going on patrol just isn't good enough. Akuma battles aren't the time to be improving her skills, so she uses her nights to train whenever she can.
She knows just the partner to help her with that.
Day 13 ^ (4945 words) - {Lukanette} [Childhood] [Fluff] [Sleepovers]
Luka meets a new face during one of Juleka's "girls only" sleepovers.
Day 14 ^ (1974 words) - {Lukanette} [Adulthood] [Florist Marinette Dupain-Cheng] [Luka Has Flower Nymph Genes]
Marinette gets an interesting customer in her flower shop.
Day 15 ^ (1636 words) - {Lukanette} [Fluff] [Introspection] [Outsider POV] [Possibly Post-Dating]
Juleka reflects on three separate instances of her brother and friend hanging out together.
Day 16 * (2765 words) - {Lukanette} ["Glaciator" Fix-It] [Adrien Salt] [Love Square Salt] [Introspection]
Marinette's first instinct had been to run away as she watched the culmination of her efforts end with her ice cream cone falling from her hands. After all, none of her efforts - no matter how strong - had gone anywhere or done anything substantial for her relationship with Adrien.
But if she ran, the cycle would only continue. She would do the same thing over and over for little to no return and it would continue to be that way for potentially forever.
So instead, she reflects, in part with the help of the new friend she'd made just recently.
Day 17 ^ (1150 words) - {Lukanette} [Luka Knows] [Nutrition]
Marinette shares a previously-unknown fact about being Ladybug with Luka.
Day 18 ^ (1797 words) - {Lukanette} [post-"Silencer"] [Music]
Marinette calls Luka about a particular location for their next music lesson.
Day 19 ^ (2281 words) - {Lukamouse} [Post-Dating] [Luka Knows] [Multimouse] [No Miraculous Timers]
Luka gets a tiny visitor during class one day.
Day 20 * (3070 words) - {Lukanette} ["Desperada" Fix-It] [Reincarnation] [Canon Divergence]
Luka wasn't self-conscious about his role in life. He was perfectly happy where he was as his mother's son, as Kitty Section's guitarist, as Juleka's brother. To him, his life had enough meaning as it was.
He just couldn't help feeling like there was something more to it.
Day 21 ^ (1699 words) - {Lukanette} [Adulthood] [Merman Luka Couffaine]
Ladybug comes across someone interesting and her own heroism gets the better of her.
Day 22 ` (925 words) - {Lukanette} [Silly]
Marinette prepares a little something for Luka, but nothing ever truly goes according to her plans.
Day 23 ` (1194 words) - {Lukanette} [Adulthood] [Post-Dating] [Trauma]
Luka helps Marinette work through the thoughts in her head.
Day 24 * (2808 words) - {Lukanette} [Jealousy]
As the months went on, Marinette found it harder and harder to keep up with her growing circle of friends and responsibilities. There were too many things to do and she wasn't "good or efficient enough" to do them. Other people had it easier, and she imagined they could replace her if needed.
Luka disagreed.
Day 25 ` (1386 words) - {Lukanette} [Post-Dating] [Gifts] [Fluff]
Luka goes to Marinette's house and catches her in the middle of one of her bad habits.
Day 26 ^ (2837 words) - {Vipernette} [Fluff]
Viperion goes out for patrol and gets appreciated by the only person he would seek appreciation from in the first place.
Day 27 * (3320 words) - {LukaFairy} [Adulthood] [Fantasy Elements] [Fairynette] [Introspection] [Love Square Salt] [Moments in Time] [No Dialog]
A tale of a fairy seamstress as she meets a model, a musician, and experiences love for the very first time with one of them.
Day 28 ^ (1703 words) - {Lukanette} [The Wish] [Silly]
Luka meets Marinette for the first time⊠sort of.
Day 29 ^ (1809 words) - {Lukanette} ["Chameleon" Fix-It] [Canon Divergence] [Luka and Marinette Are the Same Age] [Post-Dating] [Brief Class Salt]
Marinette gains an ally in her metaphorical battle with Lila.
Day 30 * (3381 words) - {Lukanette} [Cold Weather] [Silly] [Fluff]
Marinette hates the cold, and it's looking as though she's about to have a lonely day far removed from anything enjoyable.
Until, of course, Luka arrives at her home and they can't seem to part from each other for even a moment.

Got any Mr. Pigeon 72 fix-its?
Nothing written exactly, but for sure, Iâd change the episode so that itâs actually about Marinetteâs character. A power-up and suit change like this should warrant the episode basically being all about Marinette, but considering the stupid rule about Aaaaadrien, fine, watch me get them to the damn swimming pool and talk about Adrien without any actual focus on him.
This is also a semi-continuation of the original âMr. Pigeonâ in terms of involving Marinetteâs future fashion goals in someway, even if itâs more subtle, while also following up on her goal in âGang of Secretsâ of not focusing on love.
The beginning of the episode is mostly fine but no frigginâ Adrien pictures are needed. Not only does it break continuity (remember how Marinette had no Adrien pictures at all during basically all of Season 3? how is this season making me miss Season 3???), but itâs not like Alya canât think of Adrien with or without any sort of prompting.
Alya still brings up the Adrimi break-up and Marinette still goes to comfort Kagami, who - and this is important - is happy to be checked on even though sheâs over Adrien. (Like, really, why does the narrative and Alya essentially roll their eyes at Marinette for being worried about Kagami??)
Marinette still plans on taking Kagami to the pool, but neither know that Adrien is there. On their way, they see Xavier Ramier pacing on the sidewalk, seeming to be talking to a pigeon perched on his arm. Marinette and Kagami glance at each other, Kagami not knowing who the guy is and being generally uninterested. Marinette decides to approach, asking him whatâs wrong, and Xavier explains that he has to help with a commercial for Adrien Agreste. Kagami sours at the name, mumbling about how Adrien is everywhere, but Marinette is intrigued; sheâd been so busy that she hadnât even heard about this (which really shows how much sheâs overworked herself; something Adrien-related would probably be all over the news).
Xavier expresses that heâs nervous because he has a lot riding on this; Bob promised to talk to the mayor about making a pigeon sanctuary, and thatâs his dream. Still, he tries to calm himself down, afraid of getting akumatized again and burdening Ladybug. Marinette falters at this, feeling bad and remembering how many times heâs been akumatized, then makes a comment about how itâs not his fault, itâs Ladybugâs for not finding a way to stop this. Xavier is caught off-guard, but defends Ladybug (much to Marinetteâs surprise). He compares Ladybug to his best friend, the pigeon Edgar, who took a while to fly for the first time but is now the most intelligent and talented of all the pigeons. He adds that itâs not Ladybugâs fault that he gets akumatized; itâs the akumatized personâs fault.
This solves a big problem in the episode, which is that it allows Ladybug to downplay her abilities without making any argument against it, essentially saying that sheâs not good enough and itâs all her fault.
Anyway, Marinette is comforted by the words and Xavier invites them along to the commercial showing since they were nice to him (bonus if some of the pigeons like Marinette and thatâs another reason, double bonus if they also like Ladybug), seeing that they were on their way to the pool and they could always swim after the filming. Marinette and Kagami are pretty sure thatâs not allowed but hey, they get to swim just by themselves and thatâs cool. Kagami does get a bit of a jab in at Marinette for being âtoo softâ and helping strangers, but itâs a fond jab and not a malicious one.
Gorilla lets them in, but Marinette and Kagami keep their distance, partially so as to not interrupt and also because Kagami doesnât want to talk to Adrien (Adrien awkwardly waves but Kagami ignores him). This leads to a conversation about the break-up, with Marinette talking about how âlove is crazy and youâre not supposed to think about it,â but Kagami tells her that thatâs exactly the problem; she was so focused on getting Adrien that it blinded her and caused her to just get more hurt when Adrien disappointed her. She also looks at Marinette, pained, and vulnerably admits that the thing that she regrets most is that Adrien damaged their relationship before they became friends.
Marinette reflects on this. When she thinks about it, her âdreamâ had been to have a house, three kids, and a hamster (referencing back to what Alya said before), but that depends on... well, depending on someone else; a romantic interest. She eyes Xavier, seeing him work so hard with his pigeons to try and achieve his own dream, and wonders how much time sheâs spent on trying (and failing) to get Adrienâs attention. It unnerves her and it takes a grab of her arm from Kagami (a little too rough but it got the job done) to snap her out of it.
Basically, her dream should be about her and what she wants to do, yet sheâs been relying on someone else for it.
(For the Lukanette lovers out there, yes, this could hypothetically be the moment where she realizes that things werenât âall about the crushâ when it came to Luka, as Luka wasnât a vacuum that sucked up all available attention to himself.)
The episode plays out as normal, though obviously with just general shenanigans between Bob, Xavier, and Adrien that causes them to mess up without Marinette doing anything. Xavier does his job perfectly but Bob is demanding and tends to shout and mishandle the birds, which causes them to be startled, Adrienâs allergy not helping matters. When Xavier inevitably gets akumatized (bonus if Kagami, inspired by Marinetteâs efforts, tries to go after him for some tough love rather than Marinette trying to comfort him), the hero stuff works out the same with the exception that Alya hasnât figured something out with the grimoire, only that she has a hunch/lead on something but hasnât connected the dots yet.
Cut to the end of the fight, where Rena Rouge goes up to Ladybug to show her the grimoire pages. She talks about the ladybugs and points to a few particular pages that have objects that arenât in Ladybugâs arsenal, and she feels like it means something. Ladybug is skeptical, saying that sheâs already seen those pages and canât make sense of them, because said objects seem to be different/better/worse based on the particular Ladybug, and thus thereâs no pattern to it.
Then, it clicks with her; the ladybug is the miraculous of Creation, and some are better at creating than others. Sheâd always been locked on one thing at once, like being just class representative or just someone who pursues Adrien, but sheâs so much more than that and also a lot of things at once, and she was so focused on being âa guardian who needs to figure out the grimoireâ that she forgot that she was also Ladybug, and a creative Ladybug who has figured out the strangest lucky charms over and over again. The reason all those objects are different in the grimoire is because the ladybug can make them and the ladybug is only limited by their creativity.
Cue Charm Bug transformation, along with Ladybug creating the magical charm to give to Xavier. The transformation is also more narratively appropriate, as Ladybug throws her arms back when her pigtails get longer, which could be seen as her âspreading her wings.â
After Adrien leaves, Marinette watches the car go and comments to Kagami that she too is sad that they hadnât become friends earlier. She adds that she also decided not to focus on love anymore, and thanks Kagami for helping her in that. She pulls out her sketchpad from her bag and talks about her dream of becoming a fashion designer, leading Kagami to decide to tell Marinette about the fact that she draws.
The episode ends as the two as seen inside Tomoeâs car, drawing together and talking about each otherâs abilities, both clearly happy with where they are right now.

Why? WHY?! Why is it no less than four girls in canon chase after Adrien? Yeah, fame and wealth might be enough for the most shallow but he's...bland. He has no hobbies that weren't chosen for him except maybe being a Jagged Stone fan. (I bet his mom was too.) He has no ambition or goal. Nearly everyone in his class has something they want to be "when they grow up" and he's this blank slate. S1 Adrien had "I COULD be a villain but I refuse to." going for him but he's gone downhill since.
I agree with my friend that some Agreste ancestor had to have made a deal with a demon to make all Agreste men attractive to women, cause I donât know how Gabriel brings in so many ladies either (Emily, Audrey, Nathalie).Â
But yeah, I donât get why so many girls are interested in him?Â
Like, ok, Chloe and Lila make the most sense in their pursuit of Adrien.Â
The former is a childhood friend that knows him best and so far, heâs the only one thatâs up to her social standards. And out of all his âfriendsâ, Chloe is the one that Adrien prioritizes most and sees the most. And with s2 making him a Chloe stan, I actually wish they just put Chloe in Kagamiâs place in as Adrienâs maybe date, cause a lot of the things they had Kagami do, Chloe would do them and make more sense. If youâre working off Riptose Kagami, those are largely out of character actions for her. Chloe also likes to be in charge so Adrien as a pushover works in her favor, though I canât promise Adrienâs own happiness in this match but maybe itâd actually work out as heâs the only one she truly cares about and will make exceptions to be consider of him? Idk. Â
For Lila, this is the most shallow of interest as she essentially wants to ride off his fame and wealth. And heâs easy to manipulate so bonus.Â
And now Kagami and Marinette, these are the two that make less sense. Weâll start with Kagami as sheâd be shorter.Â
Now, working purely off Riptose, I didnât get anything of Kagami being interested in Adrien, more Adrien intersted in her but not vice versa. If anything, I saw Kagami being more interested in Ladybug. So when Frozer rolled around and revealed that Kagami is interested in Adrien, I at least was confused and baffled and wondering if I missed an episode or if thereâs an episode down the line to reveal when she became interested in him. But nothing. Honestly, Backwarder couldâve worked to establish Kagamiâs interest in Adrien, have him being nervous about LBâs fight with the akuma while heâs stuck on the train, and Kagami distracts and comforts him and finds talking with him, she really likes him. But it doesnât happen and their romance is very forced in and out of nowhere. She honestly wouldâve worked better as a rival for Adrien instead of being another rival for Marinette. So working off purely Riptose, Kagamiâs interest in Adrien makes no sense (and thanks to Lies, now off the Adrimi train, Kagami deserves better).Â
Now with Marinette... she honestly shouldâve gotten over her crush on Adrien long ago.Â
Iâll acknowledge the moment in Origins was very nice, but in comparison with all that she struggles against in trying to get closer with Adrien and confess her crush, well, that moment in Origins is not worth it. That moment in Origins sets up a tiny crush, one that Marinette shouldâve gotten over instead of diving into the extent that canon has set up, especially since Adrien doesnât even actively move to hang out with her on his own to add more fuel to that fire. Only time Adrien hangs out with Marinette intentionally are social obligations or outside forces send him her way. He himself never goes to hang out with Marinette, and with this, that doesnât really define them to be âfriendsâ.
Much less give a reason for her to continue crushing on him as severely as she does in canon as they arenât that close and Adrien never does much for her. Not to say she canât just have a long distance crush with him, but for all that happens in canon, it makes no sense.Â
And then you have Malediktator and Chameleon.Â
Those episodes shouldâve been what breaks the camelâs back. Itâs hard to continue crushing on someone when theyâre getting onto you about being happy about your bully leaving, or prioritizing a liar thatâs out to get you over you who is very upset and bothered with this situation (and was actually threatened by said liar).Â
With Marinette having this interest in Adrien for four seasons, all of which has left her struggling and dealing with humiliation and embarrassment, with the universe itself against her being with Adrien; it makes no sense for her to have that crush still. And Adrien prioritizing Chloe and Lila over her definitely shouldâve done some damage, especially in how Marinette views him.Â

Iâve seen a lot of fan created content that shows adrien becoming the next Hawkmoth or willing working with Hawkmoth because thatâs his dad!!! And he want some his mother back!!! But I think Iâve only seen a few things thatâs talk about him becoming the next Hawkmoth FOR MARINETTE??? And just imagine-
Itâs the final battle. Theyâve been at this for years, now, and still, nobody knows anybodies identities. Ladybug and Chat Noir are like 20 years old. Hawkmoth and Mayura are out and about and the battle is, poetically, on/around the Eiffel Tower. They fight to a standstill where Hawkmoth has Chat Noir as a hostage and Ladybug has Mayura, just like in that one episode that is either ladybug or miracle queen, I canât remember.
Except that the peacock miraculous isnât broken anymore. Mayura is stronger and has been for years. She uses her position, flips over, and rips the earrings right out of Ladybugâs ears.
Chat Noir is having a âholy shit thatâs my girlfriendâ moment, because I firmly believe in pre reveal adrienette (either after an adrimI break up or as a poly situation).
Meanwhile HAWKMOTH is having a âholy shit thatâs my future DAUGHTER-IN-LAWâ moment, which is not only four different types of funny, but means that when Chat Noir tries to run to Marinette, Hawkmoth is distracted enough that he loses his grip and just kinda lets him.
MAYURA is ALSO shocked because of the same reasons Hawkmoth is (Gabe/Nathalie/Emilie poly rights please) and so Chat Noir manages to grab the earrings out of her hands (Marinette canât bc sheâs just a little bit in shock at losing).
Hawkmoth still doesnât know who Chat Noir is. He now has issues with hurting Ladybug but he has no compunctions about Actually Murdering Char Noir. He lunges with his sword.
Chat Noir, fuelled by fury and THATS MY WIFE energy, dodges without thinking and leaps forwards to rip the miraculous straight off of Hawkmothâs suit.
The sword hits Marinette, who was behind Chat Noir, about two seconds before it is forcibly dematerialized.
Chat Noir is having a Yikes THATS MY DAD realization and a HOLY NO MARINETTE JUST GOT STABBED panic attack at the same time now.
This pretty much incapacitates him, so Hawkmoth growls and goes for the ring at the same time MAYURA does.
This accidentally knocks Gabriel off the platform theyre on in the Eiffel Tower. He doesnât die but he is severely injured.
Mayura gets both the ring and the earrings. She is panicking because OH NO THATS ADRIEN. Adrien was holding the butterfly miraculous in his other hand so he still has that one.
Mayura, seeing no way this will end well but being the Queen of compartmentalization, takes all the miraculous and BOOKS IT. Runs away.
So uh. Adrien Agreste, his slowly-bleeding-out girlfriend, and his severely-injured-father are all stranded on the Eiffel Tower, now. Big thank you to all those news helicopters for recording all that and also for getting them down.
Skip forwards a few days. Gabriel is revealed to be paralyzed. Marinetteâs injuries are really bad, and sheâs in a coma now. The doctors donât know when sheâll wake up. Gabriel has pulled Adrien aside and explained about his mother. Mayura is still gone. It wasnât hard for Adrien to deduce that she is Nathalie, even without his fatherâs confirmation. The Miracle Box is missing from Marinetteâs room when Adrien looks for it, which almost definitely means that Mayura got there first (she did).
So everything is pretty terrible. Adrien lies to the police and tells them that the butterfly miraculous was also taken by Mayura. Gabriel is sent to jail. He tells nobody anything and makes no deals. Itâs a life sentence.
He mysteriously disappears from prison two days after he arrived. He is not seen in public. They cannot find him.
Itâs because heâs holed up in Hawkmothâs air, giving advice to Adrien about how to use the miraculous. Adrien is determined to bring back Marinette and his mother, and maybe restore his father to his pre-injury state as a bonus.
An akuma is released into Paris. The population assumes itâs Mayura. New Ladybug and Black Cat holders show up to defeat the akuma. They are teenagers. They are the best Nathalie could find on short notice. The cycle repeats.

You know what trope I really like?
When rivals act cold and distant from each other, pretend they donât care but actually have mad respect for the other and look up to them, to the point they start to push each other to improvement and to do better just by their sheer competitiveness.Â
When like, they know the other is facing some trouble and feign indifference but then plot different ways to help without them noticing, and going the EXTRA MILE just to make sure they DO NOT notice because their pride just wonât let them admit they actually care a teeny tiny bit. That odd, unlikely friendship thatâs not quite a friendship yet, and they taunt and tease each other over silly things.
Thatâs all I want  ¯\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
As much as I love adrimi, I'm far more interested in seeing these two interact and bond over other things aside of a boy...

BONUS: a bunch of other sketches I did as warm up under the cut
I kind of like the sketch better??
Psss.. if you want me to finish one of these sketches in particular let me know because I just want an excuse to draw more of them

"And yeah," Chat finished, laying back on the rooftops with a sigh, "I don't think Kagami's mad at me, but she won't look me in the eye either."
Ladybug gave him a smile that was both amused and sympathetic. "You probably overwhelmed her."
He gave her a questioning look, encouraging her to go on. Ladybug didn't mind, of course; it was practically routine for them to sit down and vent to each other and help wherever they could. Plus, with no villain like Hawk Moth around, they could talk freely about their identities.
She clarified, "I know you've been dating for years, but you're... a lot sometimes. I'm sure Kagami likes that sort of thing or she wouldn't be dating you, but remember, you had your mom to get you used to hugs. Kagami never had that."
"Oh," Chat uttered. He frowned, running his claws through his hair and ruffling it. "So I did it again."
"I don't think going overboard is a bad thing," she offered gently. "But also, the flowers, the date, and then all that affection when you two got home?"
Chat tilted his head at her. "I was just excited to celebrate the anniversary of when we got together."
Ladybug blinked, pointing out, "It's... not your anniversary?"
"That's what I mean!" He stretched his limbs out for emphasis. "I couldn't wait! I figured maybe we could have aâ" He paused, and she could see the moment it registered with him why Kagami was thrown off. He bit his bottom lip, then continued sheepishly, "...a pre-anniversary?"
Ladybug snorted behind her hand, having to try hard not to do a full-blown laugh. Chat sat up, pouting at her.
"H-hey! Don't laugh at my pain!"
"No, no!" she replied, managing to stifle her giggles enough to speak. "It makes total sense now."
"What?" he asked, genuinely confused.
She cleared her throat, calming down fully, then explained, "Kagami's competitive. She definitely knew you were doing all that for a reason and she wasn't prepared, so she couldn't compete with it."
"Ahâ" He glanced upwards, acknowledging that. "Yeah, thatâmm." He sighed as he slumped forward. "You're right."
"Just talk to her. You'll work it out," she assured. Then, more teasingly, she added, "Just don't be surprised when she lays it on even thicker than you did."
"I'm looking forward to it," he retorted with a huge grin on his face. He glanced out over the city, his grin turning into a calmer smile as if he were reminiscing. "Thanks. You're always good with this."
"It's not a big deal, " she argued, waving a hand dismissively. "I'm happy to help."
"No, I mean it," he insisted. "You're really good at this. I'm surprised you aren't dating already." He leaned in close, continuing, "You always seem really happy for me and Kagami. Don't you want that yourself?"
The question caught her off guard. She looked away from him, recoiling slightly from the closeness. He must've noticed too, as he pulled back almost immediately, clearly remembering their talk about "boundaries."
"Sorry. I justâ" He rubbed an arm, seeming to reconsider his words but being unable to hold back all of his curiosity. "...don't you like someone at least?"
She paused, though certainly not because she had to think about who she liked. She'd already thought about it a lot and simply hadn't done anything about it. She knew Chat meant well and she didn't like there being secrets between them, but he could also be a bit... forward, when it came to such things.
"If I tell you," she began, noting Chat already breaking out into a curious smile, "you have to promise not to drop in on them and declare yourself as the Messenger of Love who simply must know why your two favorite sweethearts haven't gotten together yet."
He nodded in eager agreement, not even trying to deny that he'd do something like that.
She hesitated, but knew that she'd been wanting to get her crush off her chest for a while now anyway. Finally relenting, her expression grew fond as she confessed, "I like Luka."
Suddenly, Chat straightened, the smile vanishing from his face. "Wait, Luka? Luka Couffaine?" he asked, his mouth hung open in a slight gape. "Really?"
"What?" She pouted, offended at the implication. "Luka's a great guy!"
"I know!" he replied, hands shooting up defensively. "Justâ" He shrugged. "âwhy aren't you together then?"
She blinked. "What do you mean? He doesn't like me that way."
Chat's gape grew wider. Raising a brow, he asked, "Areâare you sure?"
She couldn't fathom why he seemed so baffled by the statement. "Positive."
He shook his head, like he was clearing himself of thoughts, but continued to press the issue anyway. "Bugabud, have you seen him? He's always looking your way. He smiles at you all the time like you'd just made his year. He's written a ton of songs for youâabout youâ"
"Not a ton," she cut in, though she had to pause as she put together the actual number. "It's only like, um..." She averted her gaze, scratching her cheek sheepishly. "m-maybe thirty or soâ?"
"Thirty," Chat stressed, emphasizing how large of a number that really was. He gestured wildly at the rooftop below them, exclaiming, "He worships the ground you walk on!"
"That's some you-level exaggeration you've got going on," she chided. "He loved me, once, butâ" She looked down, recalling her moment with Luka at the TV station, mixed emotions swirling in her chest. "...it was a long time ago, and we were young."
"...You're serious," he uttered in disbelief.
"It's true."
When he didn't respond, she glanced up at him to see him staring back at her with a stern expression, his brows furrowed and his hands pressed against each other in front of his mouth. She honestly didn't understand where all the shock came from, though she supposed that part of it was Chat being the romantic that he was. He'd become even more passionate about love ever since he started dating Kagami, seeking everyone's happiness when he could even if it failed.
After a few more seconds, Chat took a breath, his eyes unmoving from hers. Lowering his hands, he said curtly, "No."
"Wha? No what?"
"I'm helping you," he insisted, "If you and Luka aren't together by next week, I'm not worth my miraculous."
"Chat." Ladybug shook her head. "You just promisedâ"
"Not like that," he assured. Gesturing outwards, he continued, "You two are crazy for each other, and I'm telling you, Luka's still in love with you. I wouldn't say it if I wasn't sure."
She, however, wasn't sure, giving him a skeptical look along with a hard, "Hm."
"Just... let me try, okay?" He leaned in, though was careful not to lean as much as he had before, when he'd made her uncomfortable. "You've been helping me with Kagami before we even got togetherâ" The even when you liked me went wisely unsaid, but it was implied. "âand now I'm finally getting a chance to return the favor. I want you to have the happiness you gave me."
He was officially pleading with her, and she wasn't sure whether she regretted telling him about her crush or not. She'd daydreamed on occasion of what it'd be like to actually be together with Luka, or if she'd actually accepted his confession all that time ago, but they were just that: daydreams. She knew Chat's heart was in the right place, but that didn't automatically make it a good idea to go along with it.
Nevertheless, he was looking at her like he'd be heartbroken if she denied him. Sighing, she gave in to the request, however hesitantly. "Alright. I trust you." At his sunshine-level smile, she lifted a finger to insist, "But, I'm telling you, he doesn't feel that way anymore."
He shrugged, smiling casually at her. "If you say so~"
"You don't believe me," she observed with a squint.
"Not necessarily." He tapped his chin, looking thoughtfully off to the side with a hint of concern. "I just can't believe that my denseness from way back then was actually contagious."
"Whaâhey!"

Adrien breathed up, staring up at the towering double doors to Gabriel's office. He placed a shaky hand on one of them, then pushed it open just slightly so that he could peek inside.
Gabriel was at his fancy monitor, seeming rather invested in whatever he was doing.
Adrien hesitated, afraid of interrupting something important, but called out to him anyway. "F-father?"
"I'm very busy right now, Adrien," Gabriel warned. "If you want to talk to Nathalie about scheduling some time, thenâ"
"O-oh! No, itâs not like that." Adrien stepped inside, hurriedly shutting the door behind him. "I justâI mean, I wanted to tell you that I'm dating someone now. That's all."
"Ah, I see," Gabriel replied as he continued staring at his monitor. "Thank you for informing me."
"...Waitâ" Adrien blinked, thrown off by how unbothered Gabriel was by that information. He walked closer, now standing near enough that he could see that Gabriel was holding a stylus in his hand and was writing something on the monitor. Adrien paid it no mind though, tilting his head up at Gabriel. "Really? You're okay with that?"
Gabriel simply nodded.
Adrien needed a moment to process that, then grinned, excitement rushing through him now that he had his father's approval. "Wow, I can't wait to tell Kagami!"
The stylus stopped moving, Gabriel staring blankly at the monitor. "Excuse me?"
Adrien was practically bouncing in place, not noticing his father's shift in tone. "Kagami! You know, Kagami Tsurugiâ"
"Yes, I'm aware," Gabriel cut in. Not looking at Adrien, he asked, "What about the fashion designer? The bakers' daughter?"
Adrien ceased his bouncing, his smile going flat in confusion. "Marinette?" He shook his head. "We were never dating. I never even thought about it."
Gabriel continued looking stoic, but his stylus simultaneously snapped in half.
Adrien, completely oblivious, added, "Besides, Marinette is already dating Luka."
Gabriel paused, then moved the windows on his monitor away and brought up a new one. "Luka who?"
Adrien had no idea where he was going with this, but answered anyway. "Luka Couffaine?"
Gabriel tapped at his monitor, ignoring the snapped stylus on the floor. Adrien wasn't close enough to see what he was doing, but stood politely in place, not wanting to pry.
Gabriel suddenly stopped tapping. "...Son, this will not stand."
"What?"
Gabriel glared, and Adrien jumped as Gabriel slammed his hand down on the top of his monitor.
"My future protege, Adrien! A fashion designer, dating a boy who wears distressed pants!"
As Gabriel stormed passed him, Adrien recoiled and backed away, having nearly been knocked over by how quickly the man was going. "Father, what are you doing?"
Not sparing him a glance, Gabriel replied sternly, "I am correcting this mistake immediately."
Adrien gaped. "You're going outside?"
"DISTRESSED PANTS, SON," Gabriel stressed. He opened the door leading out of his office, giving Adrien a dismissive raise of the hand. "FORWARD MY CALLS."
"B-butâ" Adrien stammered. "I'mâwaitâI'm not your assisâ"
Gabriel slammed the door behind him, the office going silent in an instant. Adrien just stood there, completely still, and the sound of a limo driving away echoed throughout the mansion.
Adrien paused, then glanced down at one of his pockets and reached inside. Pulling out his phone, he navigated through his contacts and hit the "call" button on one of them.
He only had time to get the phone to his ear before Kagami's voice greeted him fondly. "Hello, Adrien."
"Kagami, my father just left the house."
He could hear the sound of something being dropped, then promptly shuffled around. Kagami's footsteps followed, along with the shutting of a door.
"I'm on my way."

I don't think you guys understand the magic that can happen now that we have a hint that Jagged could very possibly be Luka's father and that Jagged would likely ride the Lukanette ship, especially with Gabriel clearly liking/appreciating Marinette to some degree.
Thus, Jagged and Gabriel, fighting over which ship should be canon: Lukanette versus Adrienette.
And actually, bonus that Lukanette and Adrimi are already canon but Gabriel refuses to back down, so consider it payback for him being Hawk Moth.

I saw that story with Gabriel freaking out about Lukanette and imagined him ordering Adrien to break up with Kagami and seduce Marinette because that girl will be an Agreste no matter what
Actually, Gabriel ignores Adrien and Kagami for the most part. Heâs mostly after Marinette and Luka.
This also means that heâs not keeping Adrien busy nor dictating that anyone keep track of his schedule, so Adrien has time to actually do stuff that he wants to, leading to many fluffy Adrimi dates.
#au: Bothered Fathers#Bothered Fathers: details#bonus Adrimi#((Mostly posted that story on impulse if I'm honest and I'm glad people seem to like it.))#((I usually won't talk about stuff (i.e: Luka Charm) unless people take the bait but the story was an exception.))

could you say, if the scenes of chat essentially gunning for an akuma were cut out, that Lies would actually be a good ep?
Nah, honestly. Chat Noir had basically every piece of bad behavior I hate from him in âLies.â Plus, cutting those scenes doesnât excuse the rest of the terrible writing nor him ignoring Kagami when sheâs trying to pour her heart out to him.
I will say though that I was talking to someone about hypothetically combining the episodes but making it mostly âLies,â so even when Chat Noir is being a jerk, heâs technically getting punished for it.
Episode opens with how âLiesâ does, but clipcut so that - instead of the Adrien crushing thing - Marinette gets the call from Luka, but we donât see the actual call.
When Chat Noir is being sarcastic about her guardian duties? Marinette is actually on her movie date with Luka. The kiss doesnât even get interrupted; the scene just cuts away before the kiss connects to Chat Noir goofing off and sulking. Bonus if you take the Lukanette montage and make it look like things actually went well (by not showing Marinette having to run off, because Marinetteâs having âmore luckâ because her relationship is more stable).
So no Lukanette break-up but the Adrimi break-up and most of the Adrimi plot goes through because Adrimi is ultimately the more flawed between the two ships; more like a metaphor than âtheyâre both busy due to hero stuff.â
Could you argue that it makes Marinette look bad because sheâs ditching patrol for a date with her boyfriend? ...No, because sheâs been pulling the weight for three seasons and if she wants to date her boyfriend then Chat Noir will have to deal. If heâs going to complain about Ladybug and actively want akuma in order to bring her to him, then her dates are actually going perfectly well because screw him.

âSole Crusherâ: 2
âQueen Bananaâ: 5

other/general (i.e: theme song, the tweet that confirmed that Marinette screws up every episode, et cetera): 2
We also had nine close calls/likely future scenarios this time around!
Marinette will be pressured to make others permanent heroes and let them have their Miraculi full-time. This sets up for Hawkmoth to eventually get his hands on the Miracle Box, meaning any Miraculi that haven't been distributed are now in the villains' clutches. Not only does this dramatically cut down her pool of allies, Marinette gets to be guilt-stricken over failing all her duties and not listening to their demands while she had the chance.
Canât say for sure whether this episode counts as âpressureâ but we have our permanent hero now.
Zoe will be(e)come a pernament Bee Miraculous Holder (as in, keeping the miraculous).
HAD THIS BEEN ALYA WE WOULDâVE HAD THIS ON LOCK.
Chat Noir will be useless in battle unless Ladybug is handicapped in some way that requires him to step up
Thatâs basically how this has all been going.
Alya will be the next Chloe; trusting her despite her clear personality flaws is ultimately shown to be another of Marinette's mistakes. Just like Chloe is an unrepentant bully, Alya is an 'aspiring journalist' first and foremost, and this will override whatever faith her BFF put in her.
Had it been âNinoâs girlfriendâ instead of âan aspiring journalistâ... yeah.
Chloe stays unredeemed and one-dimensional
Admittedly I shouldâve yellowâd this one a long time ago. Honestly I always hesitate on Didnât Need Burrows with âstays/neverâ in them because itâs always like, âokay, I technically have to wait until the end of the series to do this.â Only ones I didnât on were the Lukanette and Adrimi ships not kissing because... yeah, no chance on those.
Alya forces Marinette to try and confess to Adrien for the millionth time
Wasnât a forced confession, but she did try and physically shove Marinette into the elevator.
Hawk/Shadowmoth starts aiming to *kill* the exposed/temp heroes in order to prevent them from potentially joining battles. This only happens during akuma fights (so that it falls upon Ladybug to 'set things right' with her powers). Chat Noir makes minimal (if any) effort to protect them, relying upon his 'partner' to carry the day instead and bring them back.
I sometimes feel like Iâm too generous with Didnât Need Burrows (though Iâve never been challenged so far so I think Iâm doing a decent enough job), but yeah, I hesitated on this one because technically it was also up to Rena and Shadow Mothâs motive was slightly different.
Alya and Marinette will divide the role of the Guardian of Miraculous between themselves. Bonus: Marinette will have Guardian's responsibilities, while Alya will have Guardian's perks.
and/or
Marinette will pass Guardianship over to Alya, believing that she handles it better. Â This is presented as Mari selfishly shirking HER responsibilities, and any screw-ups/bad decisions Alya makes as Guardian are blamed entirely on Marinette.
...I hate it when you guys foresee stuff like this.

Didnât Need Burrow (April 11th-16th)
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: After the Truth episode occurs, Luka will either not appear nor be talked about(not even by Marinette, Juleka, Sass, or Anarka) at all, or, if he does appear, he'll avoid Marinette like the Black Plague. Guess who's fault it'll be(Kagami will still appear and be on good terms with Adrien, though, since anything that makes Marinette happy needs to be either ruined or gotten rid of, while anything that makes her miserable needs to stay around just to be rubbed into her face.).
I s2g if they have Adrien and Kagami patch things up immediately just to make Marinette feel awkward--
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: The idea that Nino's hat is a keepsake from his late brother comes up during an episode where it inevitably gets damaged and/or destroyed. Marinette is somehow responsible/blamed for this, and/or is forced to try and repair it regardless of feasibility, while being guilt-tripped/ridden every inch of the way. Bonus points for Adrien making some clueless comment about buying a replacement and STILL being treated as more empathetic to Nino's feelings even while ignoring them.
âBonusâ if everyone pressures her over the hat, which eventually leads to Marinette realizes that it canât be fixed to be the exact same way, so she hides it and lies about it, leading to the episode blaming her for hiding things from her âtotally understanding friendsâ (who are suddenly âtotally understandingâ and are only upset that she lied to them/âthought so lowly of themâ) instead of her friends for making her feel like she had to be perfect.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: A Sleeping Beauty-inspired akuma will ensnare Ladybug, 'forcing' Chat Noir to kiss her awake. While Adrien/Chat naturally claims that he would 'never take advantage of his lady', he is openly gleeful at the prospect and taunts her afterwards, complete with a call back to Oblivio as he tells her to 'check the LadyBlog' to find out what happened. Her dismay over this is played entirely for laughs.
*flashbacks to the âjokesâ in âPrime Queenâ*
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Just like in countless Salt Fics, Alya will get upset at Ladybug for claiming that it's 'too dangerous' for her to be Rena Rouge anymore after Miracle Queen. Regardless of what she does/how she lashes out, Marinette will be held 100% responsible for the fallout, with Su-Han criticizing her for selecting Alya/the others in the first place AND for 'allowing' their identities to be exposed.
Thatâs what you get for trusting people, Marinette (apparently).
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Alya will expose more Miraculous-related secrets on the LadyBlog, such as posting the identities of the heroes who were 'already outed' by Miracle Queen. Marinette will be blamed for this, with Su-Han reading her the riot act for every single choice she's made.
And also, Alya will get no flack for this because âsheâs a journalist!! sheâs just doing what sheâs supposed to do!â
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: After spending most of the season taking the piss out of Marinette at every available opportunity, Su-Han will start warming up to her just in time to be taken out of the equation by something like Alya posting another 'big scoop' on her blog revealing his existence to the villains. Marinette will be left with even less support and all of the guilt, while Alya learns absolutely nothing from the experience because why would she?
Considering âTruth,â I just automatically presume that characters who support Marinette lovingly/unconditionally will either be abused or kicked to the curb.
Anonymous said:
Don't need Burrow: "Queen Banana" will be like typical episode with Chloe akumatization. 90% Chloe drama and angst, 10% akumatized Chloe (and probably 0% sense)
Show, Iâm begging you, just let this characterâs focus die already. We are SO tired...
Anonymous said:
didnt need burrow: the show ends with hawkmoth (now shadowmoth i guess) being defeated, heavy implications that the LS will be canon, but no solid proof, any other plot holes disappear in the cheery end music and all fans are left annoyed at the open ending filled with plot holes (bonus: That Guy says smin like "you would know if you watched carefully" to anyone that asks wtf happened)
Fun for us love square salters at least so thereâs that? :P
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Trixx wants to return to Alya despite the danger/her past exposure, and ignores Marinette's concerns, leaving/reuniting with Alya over her protests. This is either played as 'It's fine, and Marinette should have trusted Alya more' or 'It's not fine, and it's all Marinette's fault for trusting Alya in the first place and letting Trixx get so attached'. Or both.
Astruc would totally use the opportunity to brag about the whole, âSheâs already taken!â line in âTruthâ being foreshadowing.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Bunnix reveals that there is an alternate, 'better' future in which Lila never worked with Hawkmoth and became a heroine instead. The turning point was, naturally, that Ladybug never called her out for lying/stealing from Adrien. (Possibly because Adrien never snooped in the safe in this timeline, yet it's still depicted as Marinette's fault.) May couple with confirming she's the future Hawkmoth and that it's all Mari's fault the heroes are still fighting her years later.
Which means that Chat makes the âreversibleâ mistakes (i.e: Cataclysming Bunnyxâs miraculous) while Ladybug makes the âpermanentâ ones.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Marinette/Ladybug will get accused of being a selfish glory hound who needs to learn how to share the credit and 'be a team player'... after Adrien/Chat slacks off during a fight and refuses to help. Bonus points if this is tied into the exposed heroes' predicament somehow, implying that the REAL reason she won't give them 'their' Miraculi back is that she's selfish/short-sighted/not good at working with others/insert other bullshit excuse here.
T_T
Iâm so tired.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Marinette will do something unbelievably selfless and self-sacrificing, only to promptly be slammed by the narrative and treated as though her decision was incredibly selfish.
Honestly you could just ad lib that.
âMarinette will do [something positive], only to promptly be slammed by the narrative and treated as though her decision was [negative].â
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Su-Han will pressure, belittle and berate Marinette until she breaks and agrees to give up being Ladybug/the Guardian. This is naturally treated as the worst thing she could possibly do, with everyone (including Su-Han) ripping into her for it. There is no equivalent of Plagg's 'I've had many holders, but nobody can replace you, Adrien' shilling, beyond Marinette being informed that she MUST continue and deal with her many inadequacies by becoming BETTER. She has no choice.
âYouâre the worst Ladybug!â
âOkay Iâll stop being Ladybug.â
âHOW DARE YOUâ
â?!?!?!â
Anonymous said:
Donât need Burrow to know that the writers will retcon Marinette allowing Adrien to BORROW her lucky charm so that Marinette actually GAVE it to him instead.
Bonus: of course, the birthday scarf issue/secret is never addressed. RIP in piece, Marinette gift number xxx0
Technically, this has already happened even back in âBefana,â so I donât count it. Adrien has said that Marinette gave him that lucky charm forever.
Definitely adding that scarf one though.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: We get Love Square scenes (shipping fuel) in the next episode (even though Maribug and Adrichat just broke up with Luka and Kagami).
I mean, we got love square shipping fuel in the Adrimi and Lukanette episodes, so :|
Iâve just come to expect inappropriate timing at this point.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: In a future episode Chat Noir will be even worse than he was in Lies and still be portrayed sympathetically. I don't know how you can get that low, but I have faith that the writers will be able to pull it off and that's not a good thing
âI don't know how you can get that lowâ
theyâll find a way, Iâm sure
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Kagami will become an antagonist/team up with Shadow Moth post-Adrimi breakup for the plot twist "the main villain has been in the show all along." ((This is based on the end card for Lies. I really hope they don't do this because Kagami is one of the only reasons I'm still watching the show.))
Iâd only be here for that if her endgoal is getting Luka and Marinette as far away from the plot as possible.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: We STILL don't know how the Peacock Miraculous got damaged and how Emilie Agreste fell sick. Bonus points, we find out in the season/series finale or on social media.
Double bonus if Astruc claims that the decision is good and they did it on purpose (probably to keep people talking).
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Zoe debuts as the new Bee holder on the same episode Chloé is akumatized.
Iâm 100% expecting Chloe to be salty at all the adoration that Zoe gets.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: if Adrien is ever in the wrong about something, it will only be for about five minutes and it will ultimately be blamed on Marinette.
Marinette: *breathes*
writers: Yes! Something we can blame on her!
Anonymous said:
Didn't need burrow: The relationship between the Couffaines and Jagged will not be explored. They might perform a song together and that's all, Luka forgives Jagged for abandoning him (his daddy issues just magically disappear so he doesn't bring it up anymore) while Juleka doesn't interact with Jagged at all
Iâm torn between, âLuka will basically never appear again,â and, âLuka will suddenly appear much more often now that heâs no longer a âthreatâ to the love square (Marinette didnât break up with him because of Adrien but sure).â
Anonymous said:
Didn't need Burrow: "Gabriel Agreste" will be all about how he's not really evil just misunderstood. He had a lonely childhood or some garbage and we should feel totally sad for him you guys.
wow i hate it

Didnât Need Burrow (April 1st-10th)
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: Lila isn't mentioned and/or doesn't show up until the penultimate episode or the finale. No one cares about Lila until the plot changes their mind.
So the usual then.
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: Nino doesn't get any screentime outside of shipping the Love Square, being in a relationship with Alya, and/or getting akumatized again.
Nino, my dude, youâve GOTTA get out of this âbackground characterâ role, itâs not a good look.
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: Luka and Marinette don't stay friends post-breakup and ignore/avoid each other because of the "plot". The same can be applied to Adrimi: Adrien and Kagami don't stay friends post-breakup and ignore/avoid each other because of the "plot".
I CAN DEAL WITH ADRIMI BUT NOT MY OTP SEPARATING.
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: Bunnix is nothing more than a plot device to "hype" the viewers using prophecies about the Love Square and the antagonists.
uggggggh, Bunnyx, all of my hate
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Most of the characters and plotlines will be sidelined for the Affection Rectangle to the point where nothing in the show matters unless it is the Passion Parallelogram.
This ask wins for the love square synonyms alone.
Anonymous said:
Didn't need burrow to know Manon is probably gonna get akumatized because Marinette won't let her see what's in the doll house and she wants to play with it.
MANON NO
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Sabine and Tom will have a little baby, most likely a boy, and solely so he can cause Marinette pain. The reason I said it will most likely be a boy is not because male is the default, but because it would give the family a gender-equal ratio(good) and so that Marinette can claim the baby reminds her of Adrien. Speaking of which, don't expect this baby to look anywhere near Chinese. Or maybe he will, because it's only girls who have to look white to be seen as attractive.
But that would require making new models.
Anonymous said:
Don't Need Burrow: Marinette's Ladybug transformations will, from then on, always be accompanied with a frown instead of a smile.

Didn't Need Burrow: Adrien is constantly mentioned in situations that don't need him.
So âTruthâ but more of it.
Yaaaaaay

Not sure if this counts as a Didnât Need Burrow or just a head canon, but I think it might turn out that the reason the kwamis are acting like such weird childish versions of themselves is because Marinette is childish and itâs ALL HER FAULT. You know, like the rule says. I donât want this, but it ~feels~ like something they would do
I WILL SMITE ZAG WITH LIGHTNING

Didn't Need Burrow: There will be an episode focusing on Marinette's babysitting job; toss up if she'll try to make it work and the lesson is that she needs to prioritize her guardian responisbilites, or if she declines babysitting to do just that, and the lesson is that she can't shirk out on her responsibilities.
Bonus points if all four kids Marinette usually babysits are there and get akumatized, and if there's drawn a direct or implied comparison between Marinette's babysitting and her taking care of the kwamis. Clever way to reincorporate Marinette's previous skills (even though she's been portrayed as being a bad babysitter) or sexist in implying that the heroine's greatest asset is her abilities to be a caretaker? You decide!
I hate how likely this sounds, apologize for making me sad.
Anonymous said:
Don't Need Burrow: One-shot characters will be introduced just to get akumatized and never brought up again for the rest of the show. Often, they're akumatizations will be due to petty and shallow reasons. Often, they'll be from out of the city or even country. But it will always, always, ALWAYS be Ladybug's fault.
ALWAYS
because of course
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Prince Ali will get akumatized due to his responsibilities as a prince, and Rose will play a hand in his purification, which may or may not lead to her being given a Miraculous(which, unfortunately, may be taken away, just like with all the other girls on this show who aren't Marinette.). Not necessarily a negative prediction, I just thought I'd share it with you!
It can be negative if she gets her miraculous taken, yes. I would also qualify it as âpotentiallyâ negative because itâs like âAnansiâ with Nino; instead of getting an episode revolving around their family/backstory, itâs about their lOvE.
Anonymous said:
Didn't Need Burrow: Marinette will be late for school, a dance, or some other social event, and the traffic is jammed. So she will transform into Ladybug, swinging on buildings using her yoyo to get there on time. Tikki will be mad at her for using her Miraculous "for personal reasons" once again, and Marinette will be made to feel like she made a mistake and apologize(to Tikki?). Bonus points if she still gets there late because her power hates her and she doesn't get to spend time with Adrien.

What changes would you have made to the new york special?
*cough* Just a few--
- Remove the needless Adrienette; it doesnât all need to go, but the contrived stuff unquestionably has to go. This includes Alya and/or Nino forcing them together. After all, this trip for Adrien is about him getting to be away from his dad and not having to deal with his usual schedule, not being forced into relationship stuff without his consent (if anyone wants that to be the lesson/plot though - that Marinette eventually gets upset with Alya+Nino because this trip isnât about setting Adrien up with her - thatâs fine too).
- Make the Adrimi scene more... Adrimi. Have Adrien happy to be there with Kagami and more annoyed at his dad than anything else. Kagami even encourages Adrien to really start owning up instead of giving up. Sheâs not sure if everyone will be able to convince Gabriel to let Adrien go, but she does know that Adrien has some improvements to make.
- Explain why Lila doesnât decide to go at least?? The charity event is obviously a lie so that she could stay with Adrien so why didnât she lie again so she could go on the trip??
- Make the bike scene with Luka and Marinette like, ten times more dramatic. Have Marinette and Luka be super extra like their lives will end if they donât get Marinette on the bus. Have Luka jump stuff and take shortcuts through alleys and use dramatic camera angles with every turn he makes. (He and Marinetteâll probably be laughing in relief/from the thrill at the end). Bonus if he initially pulls away from Marinetteâs cheek kiss, warning her that heâs probably âgross/sweatyâ from all the biking he just did, to which she smiles and kisses his cheek anyway.
- More attention given to Ms. Mendeleiev, but also how the students feel about her. The goal should not be for Ms. Mendeleiev to become âmore like Miss Bustierâ - I mean, if she wants to, then sure - but there has to be an arc where the students also acknowledge that there are advantages with strict teachers. Itâs not that it doesnât make sense for them to prefer Miss Bustier, but them openly dissing Ms. Mendeleiev like they do in the original comes off as rather cruel and would benefit from them learning something too. Maybe one of Ms. Mendeleievâs rules (like curfew) that the students whine about with the whole, âMiss Bustier wouldâve--â thing ends up backfiring on someone and Ms. Mendeleiev has to explain that her rules exist for a reason, not just to stifle and control them. (Bonus if we see the students coming back and Miss Bustier is a little jealous of the attention Ms. Mendeleiev is getting from them).
- Lightening up on Marinette in general because--really? Jostling the plane so she gets soaked? Why??
- I could go either way on Chloe in terms of if she goes on the trip or stays home. Her staying home could mean that we get to see Sabrina without Chloe around, which could be really interesting and tackle Sabrinaâs dependency issues, but Chloe going on the trip could mean a moment where Chloe snaps at Sabrina for Sabrinaâs relationship with the guy who was clearly interested in her, meaning Sabrina has to stand up for herself (even if it takes one or two attempts to do so).
- More attention on Sabrina just in general.
- Any explaination whatsoever as to why Aeon and Jess are âbabysittingâ??
- Honestly, the Cataclysm scene with Aeon isnât even needed. Paris is already a wreck so it was overkill to do the Cataclysm thing. Majestia and Knightowl can still be overprotective/overbearing (which becomes even more clear when the four were basically dealing with the supervillain fine enough themselves but itâs like ânO yOuâRe yOuNgâ) without the Cataclysm detail.
- Speaking of Aeon, big nope on the whole âAeon can tell their secret identitiesâ because then you wonder why Aeon doesnât just go to Paris and figure out Hawk Mothâs identity. If she has to be a robot, maybe just have her be a cool cyborb and have the special be a commentary on superpowers youâre given/gifted (Aeon and the miraculouses), superpowers you have from the start (Majestia), and having no superpowers but still putting in work (Knightowl).
- Having Nino and Alya actually being concerned when Marinette and Adrien get back (and also, Adrien doesnât fish for Marinette to ask him to stay as if that has any impact on anything and when Nino already asked him to anyway).
- Adrien still ends up giving up his ring and Plagg (seeing Marinetteâs hopelessness) grabs said ring later to go after Adrien when heâs needed for the battle. It ends up being a callback to Kagamiâs line about âowning upâ versus âgiving up,â since Adrien left Ladybug because he made a mistake instead of asking her first/being ready to make up for said mistake.
Thereâs also the more âphysicalâ aspects of the special, like the whole âAeonâ thing (so aggravating that she was there to die and be a plot device), but these are the big story-centric ones.

Didnât Need Burrow (March 23rd-31st)
Anonymous said:
Don't Need Burrow: If Marinette gets akumatized, she will be presented as too strong for Chat Noir to even try to fight back. The narrative of this episode will focus on Chat Noir blaming himself for "failing Marinette" (of course, the narrative in the episode will say that it's not his fault but Marinette) and Akumanette herself will have a basically negligible role in the episode. After some time, he decides that he must "stop running away from his problems (or something similar)". This time, he will somehow defeat Akumanette without any effort, using plan that wouldn't work against basically anyone, especially someone so inteligent and cunning as Marinette. After Marinette deakumatization Chat Noir will try to apologize to her for failing her, and Marinette will say that she didnt need to apologize and that it's her fault for being akumatized.
Alternative âbonusâ that Akumanette is defeated with the power of the love square because Adrien/Chat is her weakness and her life would be better without him.
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: The episode where Kagami is akumatized would probably be the Adrimi/Adrigami breakup episode. Kagami would either be conveniently absent from the rest of the season or be reduced to the crazy ex trope (and blame Marinette for the breakup); she might get a new love interest (bonus points if it's Luka) or support the Love Square.
Iâd bet on Luka getting more appearances than Kagami post-Adrimi break-up (outside of Kagami being annoyed at Marinette) since Luka is connected to Marinette and sheâs the POV character.
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: The New York special is not mentioned at all despite happening after Season 3.
To be honest, thatâs kind of what Iâm hoping for. I donât want Marinetteâs suffering and Alyaâs meddling to be canon.
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: Lila, ChloĂ©, and Mayura/Nathalie would be absent throughout the season and would face no repercussions for their actions.
Addition to Nathalie: Adrienâs schedule will not get anymore hectic despite Nathalie being bedridden now (if the New York special is hinting at her being MIA).
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: The new Bee Miraculous holder only exists to show how "horrible" ChloĂ© is. Bonus points if her personality is the opposite of ChloĂ©'s and befriends everyone who hates ChloĂ©.
Sounds accurate.
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: Love Square would be rushed and/or forced after the Lukanette and Adrimi/Adrigami breakups. Both Adrien and Marinette would say that they "loved each other from the start" despite dating other people.
The love square has been forced for the whole show so--
Anonymous said:
Don't need Burrow: There will be episode, where Chloe will be akumatized into Antibug rehash named Scarlet Lady, it will be also full of references to Scarlet Lady comic.
I would honestly like to see that just so I can laugh at it.
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: We will get another Love Square reveal/dating tease only to have any development and/or memories reset at the end.
We had two+ in Season 3 so itâs basically expected at this point.
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: Adrien/Chat Noir will be coddled by the narrative while Marinette/Ladybug will be punished (whatever they did {or didn't do} doesn't matter.)
Iâd be about as shocked as rubber.
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: Adrimi is still not acknowledged as a couple by people other than Marinette (basically, New York Special 2.0 but Marinette has to suffer more.)
Yeah, so Adrimi dating but no one else knows so Marinetteâs friends can meddle for the love square.
mindfulmagics said:
Didnât Need Burrow: Marinetteâs feelings towards moving on are invalidated/ignored by one of her âfriendsâ to push for the Love Square
Let me fix that for you:
Marinetteâs feelings are invalidated/ignored
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: The show keeps giving reasons why the Love Square shouldn't get together or would not be a healthy relationship; these reasons would conveniently disappear once the ship is canon.
Relationships fix all problems.
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: We don't get a Lukanette and Adrimi double date to show how far everyone has come from Frozer. Alternately, post-breakup Marinette becomes a third wheel for an Adrimi date.
Both are super likely.
Anonymous said:
Didnât need Burrow: Lila's backstory isn't revealed until the show gives her a "redemption" arc. Bonus points if Lila becomes a ChloĂ© 2.0.
"Felixâ was the only one who actually got his sympathetic backstory from the get-go. *sigh*
Anonymous said:
Don't need Burrow: Zoe will be(e)come Marinette's fourth rival for Adrien's heart.
is2g i will riot
(the bee pun made me smile though so thank you)
Anonymous said:
Didn't need the Burrow: Marinette *does* tell Alya that she is Ladybug. Alya laughs in her face because she thinks this is a joke.
I hate how likely this is.
âBonusâ if Marinette has to transform in front of her for Alya to believe her.
Anonymous said:
Didn't need the burrow: However Marinette tells or wants to tell her identity, Chat will be mopey. Either around Marinette because she tells "obviously false" stories about his lady or around LB because there are rumours of people knowing her identity.
I had a hard time fully understanding this one, so Iâll simplify it to, âNo matter who Marinette tells her identity to or even if she just considers it, Chat will be mopey about it.â
neyla9 said:
Didn't Need Burrow: If Lila and Felix become the new wielders of the Butterfly and Peacock miraculouses, they won't get a five minute time limit, because reasons

DIDN'T NEED BURROW: Worst case scenario, Marinette suffers from depression(they probably won't say the D-word out loud, though), and possibly tries to hide it, but fails. Her "friends" are convinced that her depression is entirely caused by her unrequited love for Adrien, and do everything in their power to get him and her together. Yay.... Also, Luka and Kagami are conspicuously absent from this episode(and it only lasts one episode). And yes, I'm sorry for making you cry in advance.
I donât actually think youâre sorry, but yes, Iâm sorry.
Anonymous said:
Don't Need Burrow to know that the show will address the fandom's "Marinette Deserves Better" in a mean-spirited way, by having Marinette try to explain WHY she's not to blame when she's once again blamed for things that aren't her fault(or it is partly her fault so she takes responsibility but also points out what the other party should've done) only for the characters blaming her to go "No, it IS all your fault, Marinette. Just apologize already!" Which she will, taking all of the blame again.
âAnimaestroâ caused so much internal fear about âaddress the criticsâ episodes and I wouldnât be surprised if this happened.
