Don’t Stop Dancing

Authors Note: I had a dream about this last night it was kinda out of the blue since Matt isn't one of my super favorites. But still thought id write about it. 

Summary: (y/n) decides to have a dance compition to see who could go the longest as pairs. She picks Matt kinda funny 2 humans trying to out dance a bunch of vampires and hybrids. Who’s going to win the competition? Damon and Elena, Bonnie and Enzo, Stefan and Caroline, Rebecca and Jeremy, Hailee and Elijah, Kol and Devena, Klaus or Tyler or Kai? 

I woke up feeling great feeling energized everyone was in town and things have been pretty quiet lately. So i decided to go check with Tyler to see if i could use his huge yard to set up, i told him i wanted to have a dance competition  to see who could last the longest. He thought i was weird true, but he had been one of my friends for a long time. I hung out with the guys more then the girls because i always had more fun with them playing video games and other stuff Caroline and them didn't like to do. He said it was fine if i wanted to set up, he even helped. I had made a few calls to make sure everything would be all ready and set up in time for later this afternoon. Then when me and Ty finished within a few hours i gave him a hug and said i see him later. 

Then the real work started, i had to call and text everyone i knew, set up teams, convince most of my friends that’d it’d be fun. I stopped in at the grill funny enough most of my friends were hanging out either there or at the boarding house so they couldn't get out of it now that i was talking to them in person. First things first see when Matt gets off of work. I walked up to the bar waiting for him to walk over to me. About 3 minutes went by before he seen me. He smiled as he walked over to me i waved and smiled back up at him, leaning against the bar.

 “Hey, what are you doing here?” He asked. My smile got a bit bigger before i spoke, “Oh ya know just seeing when you get out of work. When do you get out?” he laughed smiling then looked down before he looked back up to me. “I get out in like 30 minutes. Why what’s up?” “Well…i kinda set up this little dance competition. Like to see who can last the longest kinda just to have some fun with everyone and hangout. And i was wondering if you wanted to be my partner.” i laughed at how dumb it sounded making me feel like we were in high school again picking a partner for a assignment . My face felt a little warm, yeah i had a little school girl crush on Matt, pretty sure everyone kinda knew that i didn't try to hide it.

 Matt smiled again nodding his head a little, looking down he bit his lip slightly. “Yeah that sounds fun, sure. Yeah i’d love to be your partner. Where is it going to be at?” “Ty let me use his yard we set everything up. Just gotta convince everyone else to do it.” “Yeah awesome sounds fun. Should i meet you at Ty’s or?” “Yeah that’d be fine I'm gonna go home and shower real quick. I’ll see you soon.” I smiled walking over to my friends Kol, Devena, Elijah and Hailee. That were sitting at one of the tables in the corner. “Soooooo…..see you at Tyler’s soon?” looking at each one of them to make sure they were paying attention. 

“Darling, Devena and I are going to take you down.” Kol said laughing. Devena smiled at me raising her eyebrows “We’ll see about that, you'd be surprised what us humans can do. So you 2 are going too right?” “As silly as it sounds I'm down for a little fun. Elijah could use some fun too.” “Yes indeed, will be there.” “sweet seeya guys in a bit. Prepare to lose. Bye” I loved hanging out with them they were actually really fun. Then when i was walking out of the grill i ran into Klaus and Kai who had very surprisingly became great friends. “See you in a bit right guys?”

 “Well love i don't know unless your prepared to lose, i would think you wouldn't want me or Kai here to be the reason you lost your own competition. Now would you?” “klaus does have a point (y/n) you don't really stand a chance.” Kai added. “ you guys don't scare me. Seeya.” i said walking away dancing like a weirdo to prove my point. I had called Enzo who had ensured me him and Bon would be there, then i called Damon who said it sounded lame but Elena wanted to do it so he said they'd be there. I had replied with telling him he was lame.

 And finally called Stefan who said Caroline was going to get him and head out now. I got home within 10 minutes from leaving the grill and headed right for the shower. Thinking about all the random songs and genres i had on the playlist i had picked it’d be great watching everyone dancing especially the originals who didn't listen to this newer music. Oh crap as i got dressed i called Jere and Rebecca who both said they’d be there. Good i can't believe i almost forgot to call and make sure they were coming. I just put on some high waisted black skinny jeans my black  heeled boots and a black tank top, fixed my makeup brushed my hair letting it air dry, grabbing my phone and keys i headed to Ty’s. 

After talking for a bit everyone that was going to dance went to the dance floor. The winners prize is $500 there were a few people like Klaus, Kai and Ty that didn't have partners but eventually whoever isn't dancing will get kicked out of the competition, so therefore eventually we won't have partners anyways. The first song that played was BedRock, that was definitely a interesting first song. I danced and grinded on Matt his hands on my hips my back faced to him. We were both laughing and singing. Everyone was having fun some pairs were trying to prove that they were better, just causing us to laugh more. 

The music switched from new songs to old favorites to instrumental music. There was a bit of everything which made it fun. I was actually pretty surprised to see Jeremy and Rebecca dancing together never thought he or her were big fans of each other. Tyler danced his way over to Matt whispering something to him before dancing away, Matts face seemed to redden of embarrassment over whatever Ty had said to him. It had been about and hour so far no one was out yet, well not until Waiting for Tonight started playing. I sang to Matt, Kai and klaus who were all by me.

 I was determined to get someone out soon. I told Matt to keep dancing smirking up at him as i started grinding into Kai he stopped dancing trying to hold me still as i continued to sing to him. One of the random people i had put in charge told him he was out he just stared at me as i smiled and danced back over to Matt. It’s Raining Men started playing next oh this will be fun i sang as loud as i could laughing. Pulling Matt with mess we danced across the floor to Caroline and Stefan. 

Having our own little dance off all of us were singing loud along with Damon and Elena and even Hailee. I couldn't stop smiling this was so much fun. Next up was Drop Dead Beautiful, i wanted to get Bonnie and Enzo out next or at least one of them dancing over to them. I circled them grinding against them Bonnie was giving me a don't you dare kind of look. I laughed pushed between them and randomly started crumping then twirking. Enzo started laughing so hard he stopped dancing and then Bonnie did. Everyone who got kicked out had chairs for them to sit and watch, along with snacks and alcohol. Wannabe came on next. 

Me, Damon, Jeremy and Matt were yelling the words as loud as we could being our silly goofy selfs. Insane in the brain came on and i was dancing but also couldn't stop laughing Ty had came over to join us and him and Matt were being complete dorks. While we were all jumping around and dancing Rebecca said she was done and just wanted to watch for fitting herself. So then Jere came over to join our little group. I yelled so loud when the Macarena came on i knew the dance by heart and so did pretty much everyone or so it seemed. we were all lined up doing the dance. Me and Caroline sang since we were next to each other.

 I looked over and Kol looked a little lost which i laughed dancing over to him to prove i was a better dancer he didn't really know the steps. Devena was trying to teach him but Kol had stopped to watch her which got him kicked out and Devena stopped after he did. Another 2 down. Getting back in line as the song ended. i smiled looking over at the people who had lost so far the pirates of the caribbean’s theme song was next. Matt looked tired as we had been dancing for almost 2 hours straight now. “Don’t Stop Dancing Matt.” I whispered in his ear. He nodded as we danced together. I had slowed our dancing to a slow dance to save some energy.

 Looking into each others eyes. Dancing from side to side as a new song started he leaned down kissing me i was still wobbling from side to side but he had stopped. I tried kissing him back as best as i could but pretty sure it was the worst kiss id ever given since i refused to stop moving. Someone tapped Matt on the shoulder letting him know he was out. I heard a few people say aw a few whistled and then the rest laughed. Jeremy took his place i thanked him for not leaving me alone. He laughed shaking his head. “Yeah well someone had to help you out right.” I laughed at that.

 Waiting for something really upbeat to play. Then lol i forgot i had Holding out for a hero the Shrek movie version the the fairy godmother sings on my playlist but as it started i knew this would be fun. Jeremy smiled knowing i wanted to get someone else out. I sang to Jere as he twirled me into Klaus saying he was getting tired. “But Jere we just started.” “Sorry he’s got you now, good luck.” and he went to sit down. Klaus smirked down to me now there was only Me, him, Elijah, Hailee, Damon and Elena, Stefan, Caroline and Ty.

 Mambo No. 5 was on next. Wow i have a lot of random music on here. I laughed as i grinded on Klaus Caroline and Stefan were right next to us so we kept making faces at each other. Shaking our heads sure one of us would get bored or tired soon. Well i mean i was the only human left still going. But i wasn't going anywhere. I looked over to Kai and them sticking my tongue out and then winked at Matt. Turning to face Klaus. My Heart Will Go on started playing so everyone started slow dancing. Klaus’s hands on my hips my arms wrapped around his neck as we swayed to the music.

 Since Tyler didn't have a partner he decided to drop out not wanting to slow dance alone. This song made me emotional which made Klaus laugh i watched the other couples seeing how much they loved each other. It was truly adorable. after that song was over Elijah and Hailee decided they were done. “What no guys Don’t Stop Dancing, common lazy bones.” They laughed but left the dance floor. And then there were 6…. By this time we had been dancing for a good 3 and a half hours. Damon tried to make it sound like i’d drop out soon. 

i said “Nah sorry buddy i could dance forever” sending a smirk his way. I looked up at Klaus smirking at him like i was about to make him lose. A few of our friends knew what i was about to do and yelled for me to do it. Thank you by Dido had started playing, Klaus looked slightly confused on what i was doing until it happened. I had danced to the end of the dance floor signing to Klaus loudly for everyone to hear. Kol had handed me what i wanted, i had made water balloons for after the competition.

 Grabbing it before Klaus could see what it was i danced back to him with the balloon  behind my back. Then i gave him a big cheesy grin and smacked the balloon on top of his head. Leaving him a bit shocked, he ad stopped dancing yes plan worked. Well that was until he said “Oh love now that wasn't really fare was it? I suppose it’s your turn.” he said picking me up. “WHAT NO KLAUS I CAN’T JUST STOP DANCING. HEY PUT ME DOWN. AHHHH” he put me down as soon as he vamp sped with me to one of the little pools full of water and water balloons dropping in into it.

 The balloons popped water soaked me, i was in utter and complete shock. Everyone had stopped dancing all surrounding us, laughing there asses off as i reached under me finding a balloon and throwing it to the first one i saw, Enzo. i of course missed because my aim sucked. Getting out of the pool i ran as everyone started grabbing and throwing balloons all over at each other. Squealing and yelling and laughing it’s memories like these that i’m going to cherish forever.

 I was hiding behind a tree when i heard someone walk up behind me i turned to see Matt with a balloon that he had just hit me with soaking my shirt. then he walked over to me closer. Our faces a few inches away he said “sorry (y/n) i just couldn't help it.” He smiled big as he leaned down kissing me passionately again only this time i could kiss back properly. His hands on my hips pulling me closer to him my arms wrapped around his neck, fingers tangled in his blonde hair. Only momentarily stopping to breath, knowing this is what I've been waiting for for years. “Aww” We stopped kissing and turned to see everyone watching us now. “About god damn time” Tyler and Jeremy said. I loved my friends, always.
