MINIMALISM IS NOT SUBTRACTION I came across an unattributed quote : "Minimalism is not subtraction for the sake of subtraction. Minimalism is subtraction for the sake of focus." This quote sums up the art of minimalism beautifully. Minimal art is abstract and the subject and techniques used are kept to a minimum. The resulting work is characterized by extreme simplicity of form and a deliberate lack of expressive content. The overall concept is to produce artworks devoid of unnecessary elements, but still produce an outcome with essential art quality. The objective of minimalistic expressionism to reduce its content to rigorous clarity. It focuses on the most essential and elemental aspects of an object and not so much on the personal expression of the artist.. The most accepted literalism of minimalist representation is the fact that an artist doesn't have to create a visual fairy tale. An artist can achieve total artistic freedom unchained to the idea that a piece should comprise voluminous visual elements, instead relying on talent to create work from the barest of resources and materials. That is precisely what I aimed to do while showcasing these gorgeous floral organza sarees. I wanted the gorgeous woman who was wearing the saree to be the focus without being over powered by the color or the floral pattern. I wanted her glowing skin to shine through in perfect harmony.
