no need to blink, you’ve definitely seen romy before. whether you grew up with her around philly or you remember her on your tv screens every thursday night during primetime, she’s got a difficult face to forget. romy loved the escapism of movies, so whenever her drunkard father would come home in one of his fits, romy would grab her twin brother, tommy, and tuck themselves away while she forced him to watch the classics with her.

romy swore up and down that she’d leave this town, but given her lackluster performance in high school & the general burden of being rick callahan’s daughter meant that she’d probably resign herself to the life of a bartender under his watchful eye. and with her brother by her side, that didn’t sound SO bad, but she had bigger things in mind.

on the eve of her twentieth birthday, exhausted by the waitressing gig she had, romy took a chance  (  and her savings  )  on a whim that lead her straight to hollywood. okay, there were a lot more steps in between, but romy went from being a face on the streets to a golden girl on your tv screen.

the show was basic dramatic fodder, a gossip girl-esque soap, but it developed a big following, and romy was soon an it girl. the problem was, she was a philly girl at heart with her father’s gift for drinking liquor like water --- coupled with the substances that were being offered to her left and right, romy was primed to fail before she could reach her peak. she managed a few movie roles that gave romy high praise and numerous magazine covers labeling her as a someone to watch, but behind the glossy pages and bright lights, there was trouble.

a few too many breakdowns & late arrivals to set got romy fired, unceremoniously written off her show, and managers sending her off to rehab. 30 days later, she didn’t feel ready to bounce back into hollywood yet  ---  so she did the only thing that came to mind and returned to philadelphia.

romy callahan is back, trying to keep a low profile and, more importantly, trying to reconnect with her brother and old friends. she’s quick witted, gifted with a wry sense of humor, and more sensitive than she lets on. there’s a bitter streak in her, but she’s trying to make amends and stay clean . . . though she’s having difficulty keeping away from the booze for too long, insisting she has it under control.

cressida has a knack for doing things Just Because. she grew up dreadfully bored in camden, finding everyone and everything to be the same, so she moved out to los angeles. again, she found herself woefully disappointed and headed eastward, figuring she’d find somewhere that could satiate her.

eventually, she landed in philadelphia. it wasn’t quite what she was looking for, but for the time being, she figured it can do. a musician with a knack for wicked, pointed lyrics and a biting wit, if occasionally a bit cruel, cress doesn’t believe in bullshit. blunt to the point of being off-putting, she may not be the friendliest person, but it’s never a dull moment in her company.

extremely gay and loving it, she tends to work her way through girls and break more than a few hearts, though she insists otherwise. cressida doesn’t believe in being rude just for the sake of it, but she’s often quite careless in how she approaches others.

will also yell at you from her spot onstage if you talk too loud during her performances, thank you very much. she’s only waitressing as a way to get by, and one of these days, definitely, she’s gonna head off to new york or maybe give los angeles a second go; she loves to insist that philadelphia is just a stop along the way, even after all these years.

hey !! my name is coco, i’m nineteen and in pst, and i’m super hype about this !! this is my girl riley !! some basics can be found here but i wanted to get her story down and i didn’t want this post to be too long !!

riley was the first in her family ( here is her birth chart ), born in pittsburgh, penn. and her parents were both very loving. riley was especially close with her father, they used to go to every pittsburgh pirates sunday home game. her father was a lawyer, and growing up riley always wanted to be just like him.

her brother, logan, was born just a few months before her eighth birthday. her parents had been trying all her life for a second baby and logan was their last effort, and they called him the ‘miracle baby.’ surprisingly, riley took to him immediately, and cared for him as they grew up. they’ve been close his entire life.

her parents were economically secure but not rich or anything, and made sure to teach their children how to be responsible about their finances. the two of them had a more ‘traditional’ childhood and were always very happy.

riley was always very responsible and had a very solid idea of how her life would go. she would go to college ( u penn, her father’s alma mater ), do internships over summers, and then go to law school immediately after. she had jobs throughout high school and bought herself a car when she was seventeen as to better help her parents.

in the summer after her freshman year of college, riley found out she was pregnant. she had been with her boyfriend at the time for a couple months, and he was from an upper-class well-to-do family who insisted that the two of them get married. it wasn’t what they wanted but they did so, but her husband disappeared before the birth of their daughter, who riley named for her father, james. unfortunately the pre-nup that riley signed didn’t protect her all that much, and divorce papers showed up in the mail before james’ first birthday.

after the birth of her daughter, riley decided that she was going to take some time off of school and get a job back in pittsburgh, where her mother, who had already retired, could look after her daughter. she had only done three semesters at upenn by this point and had every intention of going back.

[ car accident/death tw ] one winter night when she was twenty-one, riley was pulling a double at the restaurant that she was working at and her father went to pick up her car ( the one she had bought when she was seventeen ), and her mother went with him. while they were out and she was at work, the car spun out on a bridge, killing both of her parents on impact. suddenly, riley was the guardian of her brother, who was thirteen at the time, as well as her daughter.

almost immediately after, riley arranged to sell the house that she grew up in and moved back to philadelphia with her brother in tow, using the money that she had been left to pay for an apartment while she could finish school. because she had been taking classes here and there, she was able to finish her degree in three more semesters.

after the death of her parents, riley started to become very interested in astrology and began to see a psychic, something that her brother calls “a weird quirk.”

after graduation, riley started working full-time as a hostess at a restaurant, deciding that she needed to support her family and that the money left by her parents should go to college for her brother and daughter. while working full-time, she was also getting her paralegal certificate online.

she finished her paralegal certification by twenty-six and has been a paralegal for about a year now. it pays much better than working at the restaurant did and she has more regular hours, and is able to spend more time with her daughter, who is now 8. her brother has begun college but is still living with riley to help her take care of james, who he loves dearly.

as her life has gotten more “normal,” she has begun to realize that she hasn’t really thought about herself at all since the birth of her daughter, which of course she is willing to do, but she doesn’t have many close friends ( mostly colleagues ), and hasn’t dated anyone since james was born.

so that brings us about current !! i had some ideas for connections:

family of her college ex-boyfriend ( essentially relatives of her daughter ): i don’t have any details about their relationship besides that he was from a well-to-do family, and that she hasn’t seen him since they were married or heard from him since their divorce. i imagine that his family might want to have some relationship with her, but that would be up to you !!

friends from college / the restaurant in philly / the law office

in case anyone’s character is from pittsburgh, i’m sure she would appreciate friends from childhood

Philly born and bred.

He’s the second oldest of four. 

His mother skipped out on town after the birth of his youngest brother, leaving his father with four children to raise and no clue how to do it solo. 

The family adapted as best they could, with Mason and his older sister becoming parental figures to his younger brother and sister. 

This forced him to grow up fast, and picking up the slack at home made it difficult for him to keep up with school as well as he should have.

Music has always been something that he’s had an intense passion for, despite possessing no actual musical talent himself. Through good times and bad, he’s always had it to there like a friend that would never leave. 

When he graduated high school, he opted not to go to college, not wishing to put the financial burden on his family and aware that he was still needed at home so out of state was out of the question. 

He ended up working at a record store part time, his enthusiasm for the place ending up in him getting a full time position there.

After getting close to the owner, Charlie, Mason was heartbroken when the man passed -- and shocked to find out that he had left the keys to the store and the continuation of his legacy to him. 

Since the day it became his responsibility, he’s poured his everything into keeping the store up and running in the hopes that he can do right by the man who did right by him. 

He’s still very close with his family, who come first to him before everything else.

Now to Logan: 

Logan was born on August 13th, 1985 to Phillip and Genevieve Mills in Manhattan, New York City, New York. An only child raised in the Upper West Side, Logan benefited from having wealthy parents and dashing good looks. As a young boy, he was treated to yearly family vacations,  the best education money could afford, and any item that his heart desired. With his father being a successful attorney, it was his influence that drove Logan to follow in his father’s footsteps, applying for the same university that his father had graduated from: New York University. 

It was at NYU that he met her. He was eighteen, standing around at his freshman orientation and while talking to the kid who would be his roommate for the semester, Logan’s eye caught the sight the most beautiful girl that he had ever seen. It had been at his roommate’s prodding that he introduced himself to the girl and from that moment on, the pair were inseparable. It had been the first time that Logan had ever been in love, ever felt so deeply about another human being that he couldn’t imagine spending his life with anyone else. He proposed when he was twenty and the pair were married by twenty-two, just as they graduated from NYU and Logan began his law school program at Columbia University. 

After graduating from law school and passing his bar exam, Logan joined his father’s law firm and from that moment on, his professional life was on the rise. His personal life was great as well; he was happily married to the love of his life and with his wife being successful in her own career, the pair were the young professionals that their friends and family looked up to. They were constantly called ‘couple goals’, always invited to the best parties, the fanciest events. The events, however, were supplementary to the life that Logan had become accustomed to. He loved his wife, he loved his life and he couldn’t imagine anything ever changing. 

After being together for thirteen years and being married for almost ten years, Logan’s wife asked him for a divorce. The request blindsided the man and no matter how many times he asked, he could never get an answer as to why she had asked him for this. Nevertheless, he agreed and according to their attorneys, their divorce was the most civil they had seen in years. Logan wasn’t one to keep someone trapped in a marriage, even if he didn’t fully understand why and if this was what she wanted, then this was the least he could give her. He let her keep the apartment, moving back in with his parents as he figured out his next step. 

After his divorce, living in New York was painful. Every borough had a part in the love story that no longer existed, every street corner reminded him of a memory that he had been trying to forget. Going to work felt even worse to the young man. Was it the long hours that had driven his wife to leave? Was it the fact that he wasn’t practicing criminal law and wasn’t really helping people? The questions never stopped and at thirty-two years old, Logan decided that he needed a change. 

He wasn’t sure why he chose Philly, but Philly is where Logan landed, ready to start with a clean slate. Instead of private practice, he found himself drawn to criminal trials and defending those who needed as much help as they could get. He joined the pool of court appointed defense attorneys, still taking on private cases from time to time. He may have been born with privilege, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t use it to help others around him. This change in career also meant a change in his lifestyle. Gone were the fancy parties and events and instead were nights spent home alone, surrounded by his clients’ files. Gone was the three bedroom high rise apartment overlooking Central Park and instead, a one bedroom loft in Center City. Now that it’s been a year since he arrived, Logan wouldn’t change a thing about his time in the city and hopes to spend many more years here.

former outstanding police officer, promoted to undercover agent / investigator of sorts, he’s originally from new york but was given the opportunity to work in an undercover operation eleven years ago in philly and i mean guess what !!! he took it.  the gist of it is that he’s working undercover with like this highly dangerous / well known drug cartel / gang and he’d been feeding intel back to his fellow law enforcers.

however ... my boy, keith, the all american man turned faux hardass drug dealer is now legit turning.  he’s developed real connections with these criminals and he loves them like his own family, and tbh the Life of Crime is a lot more thrilling??? in his opinion,  so now he’s a corrupt cop, secretly helping THEM by feeding them tips and shit to keep them one step ahead of the police.  like this is his true calling boys so buckle the fuCK up bc he’s in for a mess.

so uhhhhh yeah he was married to his wife for twenty years and they had a kid together (or two idk yet im undecided fam).  it wasn’t until five years into the undercover operation that shit hit the fan.  he was waY too invested in his work and hardly made time to come home so his marriage fell apart and eventually, his relationship with his kid(s) was nonexistent bc 1) it was too dangerous for them to go visit him eveR and 2) his wife didnt want him around the kid(s) anyway bc HE was too dangerous for them tbh and prob a bad influence oops.  he misses his kid(s) a lot but he doesn’t want them getting mixed up in his new crazy life, so he’ll still hit them up once in a blue moon to catch up on everything and sends them whatever gift they want for their bday, xmas, etc. 

hobbies include: money laundering through a gang-owned & operated business (probably an actual laundromat aslkjsa), acting as a bodyguard / gunman during heavy drug deals, frequenting strip clubs to the point where he’s on a first name basis with most of the girls, forgetting he’s an actual poLICE officer, taking a sobriety vow one day but then taking shots the following night with his crew of outlaws, re-watching scarface and all the godfather movies to take notes on how to be a successful thug, and being the absolute best award winning dog dad to his german shepherd, boone.

He has one child, a daughter, that he shares custody of with his ex-wife. She’s six years old.

Following his divorce, Leo found himself having a nightcap more nights than he didn’t -- which soon became a day time vice too. It took almost losing his job for him to realise that his coping mechanism had become a problem.

ABOUT HERO.

Born and raised in Greenwood, Seattle.

Bisexual. 

Regarded as a miracle baby, Hero’s mother Diane was told she would never have children after a battle with leukaemia when she was eight years old. Her husband Matthew accepted this and they were fine with a life without children --  until three years into their marriage when a positive pregnancy test. 

A history teacher and a lover of Greek mythology, his father wanted to name him Hercules but his mother (thankfully) managed to bargain him down to Hero. 

He’s an only child.

Growing up, he had a close relationship with his maternal uncle, Davis. A firefighter since he turned eighteen -- Hero was enthralled by the tales he would tell him when he was a boy about the people he saved and the fires he battled. 

Living a few doors down from three of his cousin’s on his father’s side made him look to them like his psuedo siblings. 

When he was ten years old, his father was killed in a hit and run accident, which prompted his mother to relocate to Philadelphia due to being unable to live in the happy home she had shared with him without being haunted by past memories. 

Initially, Hero hated his new home. It was lonely and isolated for him having been shifted away from everything he had ever known while also trying to cope with the loss of his father. 

Present day, he’s much more content after making a solid network of friends in high school. Now, he wouldn’t live anywhere else. 

Never one to be academically inclined, Hero followed in his uncle’s foosteps and joined the Philadelphia Fire Department. 

At present, he’s stationed in Station E47. 

An adrenaline junkie at heart, he’ll chase a thrill anyway he can -- be it a burning building, someone who catches his eye at a bar, or a line offered to him in a bathroom.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.

The son of a single mother and an absent father.

He’s bisexual.

Dexter’s main aspiration in life was to get out of his neighbourhood and search for something better. medicine had always seemed unobtainable, until it became evident that he had a natural affinity for math and science.

With some hard work on the rest of his subjects he landed himself a scholarship to university, which saw him settle on surgery as opposed to medicine as the path he wished to take. 

He’s highly competitive in his profession, and is the first to volunteer to pull a double if it means that he can get more time in the OR. 

He sends money home regularly to his mom, and likes to get back to NYC as often as he can -- which isn’t always possible given how many hours he works. 

Truly believe’s hes a karaoke king despite having a mediocre voice at best. 

Despite a happy-go-lucky exterior, Dexter can be guarded when it comes to forming personal relationships, which can make him come off as some what of an asshole when coupled with how immature he can be at times.

At present, he’s undecided on which surgical speciality that he wishes to pursue, he’s just trying to make it to residency.

pru’s  always  had  a  knack  for  turning  lemons  into  lemonade  ,   which  is  great  because  life  tossed  her  a  whole  heap  of  lemons  .  growing  up  in  seattle  ,  her  parents  were  never  really  ready  to  be  parents  -  it  was  a  fun  childhood  ,  but  there  was  a  distinct  lack  of  discipline  &  she  often  got  lost  in  the  fray .  her  favorite  time  of  year  was  SUMMER  ,  when  she’d  get  to  visit  her  grandfather  in  philadelphia  for  two  and  a  half  months  .

through   her  upbringing  ,  prudence  discovered  a  DEEP  love  of  music , film ,  art   -  she’s  actually  a  talented  artist  in  her  own  right  ,  even  attending  college in  new  york  on  a  scholarship  .  (  really  ,  though  ,  she  just  wanted  to  get  away  from  her  parents  &  they  didn’t  seem  too  upset  about  losing  her  .  )

prudence  did  very  well  in  new  york  ,   and  she  was  even  poised  to  travel  abroad  in  her  final  year  .  .  .  until  her  grandfather  fell  sick  ,  and  she  knew  she  had  to  take  care  of  him  .  she  unceremoniously  dropped  out  of  college  and  moved  to  philly  in  her  final  year  ,  masking  the  crushing  disappointment  that  riddled  her  .  she  got  a  job  at  a  record  store  &  not  much  longer  after  that  ,  snagged  a  radio  host  gig  where  she  plays  her  favorite  tunes  &  gets  into  ramble  on  about  her  favorite  topics  .  

her  grandfather  gained  his  health  back  enough  for  pru  to  move  out  on  her  own  ,  but  she  still  checks  up  on  him  often  &  secretly  feels  terrified  about  losing  her  favorite  person .  

aside  from  that  ,  prudence  is  your  token  Good Time Girl .  she  loves  to  party  ,  drink  ,  dance  ,  smoke  ,  run  around  at  all hours  of  the  night  &  follow  her  impulses  .  she’s  terrified  of  commitment  ,  always  preferring  to  keep a  safe  distance  ,  and  sticks  with  hooks  ups  &  flings  over  relationships  .
