Hiratsuka’s choice of food in the mission cafe is some very exciting cake.
There were two events (beginners and experts) where you collected items that can be exchanged for a Hiratsuka unit, plus some Nikogaku gear.
(This skit is supposed to play before the event, but I somehow missed it.
Hiratsuka: .....
Hiratsuka: Mikoshiba is doing special training all by himself...
Hiratsuka: Could he be aiming for Touko-chan too?
Hiratsuka: That must be it.....)
Hiratsuka: I’m doing the special training too!
Akane: Who are you??
Hiratsuka: I’m Nikogaku’s ace! Number 4, Hiratsuka Taira!
Akane: The number 4 ace?!
Kawato: Hiratsuka! What are you doing out here?
Kawato: If you don’t practice seriously, you won’t even be able to pinch hit in the next match!
Akane: What? The ace is a pinch-hitter?!
Akane: What’s going on here?
Hiratsuka: ....
Within the event, you hopped around a board collecting these items from Hiratsukas. (Mikoshiba: “Is there something wrong with having a a dream?!”)
When you land on him, he will also favor you with lines like, “I’m awesome!” and, “I’m not losing to Mikoshiba!”
We don’t have anything but baseball! :D
Oh, Imaoka. How're you doing?
Once you clear the mission (there are 50), you get to look at this sprite...
Great work, Imaoka. You really helped out. Take this.
I’m not giving up either!
...and he gives you some stuff you can feed your team managers to get special skills.
(Isn’t it totally wild how he said all this organically, without me changing my character name around or anything???)
The Hiratsukas come in both a regular version, and a terrifying golden version. The golden one gives you a guaranteed golden ball.
Golden balls can be exchanged for a Hiratsuka unit.
Futakotamagawa High’s secret weapon. The “secret” is a brute strength that appears in times of danger.
Attributes:
Naturally gifted
Powerful
Hiratsuka is okay on defense and has comically low stats in everything else but power.
Most of his lines are from the manga (”Yey!” “Feelin’ feelin’ feelin’ good~”) except this one, when you land on a coin spot: “I’m gonna use this to buy Touko-chan a present <3″
Amusingly, you get “I’m not gonna run away and hide!” when you land on a square that boosts his tragic running stats.
Here he is getting a confession, but sadly it’s a skill for a Smart character and therefore will be of no use to him.
His sad sprite faithfully recreates his intense sweatiness from the manga.

The mobile app ぼくらの甲子園!ポケット” (Our Koshien! (Pocket version)) is running a Rookies-themed event through the month of August, and since the app is only available in Japanese I’m going to share some screencaps of the stuff going on.)
(The only characters appearing in the event are Mikoshiba, Hiratsuka and Aniya, all of whom you can recruit as characters, plus bats with Kawato and Hiratsuka’s heads on the end)
Y-you’re Mikoshiba-san from Futakotamagawa High School!
He tells your manager that some members of Nikogaku will be joining you for special training.
And Kawato shows up very briefly.
The event page has a link to the Jump bookstore...
and once you’ve looked at the event page, you get a free Mikoshiba unit.
Futakotamagawa's captain. An honors student and earnest practitioner of high school baseball.
Attributes: Smart Earnest/single-minded
He’ll also show up in the cafe where characters give you missions, where his choice is orange juice and cake.
He gives you some pretty easy missions, and rewards you with two Nikogaku Spirits, each of which can be redeemed for...
...the Kawato bat...
Description: A bat that flutters into your dreams and glitters into tomorrow as you swing.
Power: 87, Contact: 10, Running: 10, Defense: 0; Bench skill: Nikogaku Go, Lv. 4. Cannot be upgraded.
Nikogaku Go skill description: Cheer on your friends with an enthusiastic cry that flutters into tomorrow! In a Crisis, your Pitching stat will be greatly increased, and during an Opportunity, a batter on your team will have their Contact skill greatly increased.
...or the Hiratsuka bat.
Description: Hiratsuka, who is way too good at hitting bad pitches, transformed into a bat.
Same stats; its Bench skill is Yey!, Lv. 4.
Yey! skill description: A mysterious cheer that mocks the opponent. During an Opportunity, the opponent’s Pitching stat will be greatly decreased.
The Mikoshiba unit has decently balanced stats (the ones on the right are his max potential stats at level 11), and says things like, “Thanks for the coins!” and, “Go, Nikogaku, go!” while you’re training him.
Thanks for the coins!
I’ll show you Nikogaku’s spirit!
He looks like this during the short quicktime events.
I sent him on a ghostly bicycle date during a special event that was running last week.
Mysteriously, he says, “Nice batting!” when you hit a square that lets you upgrade your batting skill... it sounds so polite, but isn’t he basically saying it to himself???
And here’s what he looks like getting a rooftop confession, which is how you gain skills for your characters after giving the managers gifts.
Next time:
Here Comes Shithead

rookies ぼくポケ event line collection
this took..... a while and i’m not sure i got all the lines but probably most of them!
(note: I’m way more likely to remember where Hiratsuka’s lines come from and be able to translate them the same way they were in the scanlations, so keep that in mind. his lines are also way more specific to the squares he hits, so it’s easier to remember as i’m typing when they popped up)
It’s finally here... the age of me!
That’s what my batting is like! (leveling up hitting power)
I am the man who’s gonna shine on that sayonara stage. (either hitting power or hitting rate)
I hit it~ ♪ (when you hit a square for leveling up hit rate)
(a scene of excessive hiratsukas)
Bring it oooon! Come to me! (when you hit a square that levels up fielding)
Oraaa! This is special training! (i think this was a fielding square?)
I’m gonna use this to buy Touko-chan a present♡ (single-coin panel)
I’m gonna use this to go on a trip with Touko-chan... ♡ (triple-coin panel)
Feelin’, feelin’, feelin’ good ♪ (single coin panel)
You can’t buy my feelings with gold. (coins)
You can’t improve a man with gold! (three-coin panel)
......................not really sure where he’s going with that one.
Yeeeey! (triple-coin panel)
Here she comes! Into the left stand! (when you hit a square that levels up hitting power)
I’m not gonna run away and hide! (when you hit a square that levels up running)
Yey! Yey! (running)
Uooo! (boosting fielding)
Yey! (boosting either hitting power or pitch control; with pitch control there’s an exclamation point, but no cap because i already hate myself for cataloging that slight difference)
Oooh! Yey! (boosting pitching)
I’m the ace, with a max speed of 150 km/h. (boosting pitching)
Heh heh heh. The battle for ace rages on. (boosting pitching)
I’m the shadow ruler of Nikogaku. (boosting breaking ball)
That’s the Hiratsuka Ball #1. (boosting breaking ball)
Uooooo! (boosting pitch control)
I could thread the eye of a needle with this control. (pitch control)
I’m about to show you how terrifying I can really be. (not really sure what made this pop up, probably a coin panel)
Thanks for the coins! (when you hit coins)
It’s thanks to you that we’ve gotten this far, sensei. (three-coin square)
Don’t stop moving. Keep looking ahead. (triple-coin square)
I’m the captain. I’ve gotta keep it together. (single-coin square)
Go all-out! (single coin square)
Now we can practice some more at the training facility. (single-coin square)
Maybe I’ll buy some new equipment. (triple-coin square)
Go Nikogaku go! (when you hit a square that levels up hitting power)
What’s wrong with having a dream?! (hit power/pitching)
I’ll show you the Nikogaku spirit! (i think is on a square that levels up running?)
Nice batting! (when you level up hitting rate)
Watching the ball carefully... if you do that you should be fine. (leveling up hitting rate)
We don’t have anything but baseball! (also hitting rate?)
We’ll make a miracle happen. So we can achieve our dream... (boosting fielding)
We’re going to Koshien! (boosting fielding)
If you don’t give up, you’ll win in the end. (pitching)
If you try your hardest, your dreams will come true!! (pitching)
Shout! (breaking ball)
I got my first strikeout. (breaking ball)
What’s wrong with saying you have something like a dream?! (breaking ball)
We’re gonna get stronger. Definitely. (pitching)
As long as you try your hardest, your chances are more than zero. (pitch control)
With the team like it is now, I don’t feel like there’s any chance we’ll lose. (pitch control)
We have to win. I want to celebrate with everybody! (pitch control)
The winner! Is gonna be me!! (he says this during the event where you’re trying to hit his pitches)
Nikogaku’s number 4 and ace. He possesses an outstanding sense for baseball no matter whether its running, hitting or fielding.
Characteristics:
Powerful
Problem child
(note: i’m not really sure why it says 4番 throughout the event in reference to the ace position, since Aniya’s number and the one Hiratsuka pretends to have in the manga is #1.)
I’ll show what I can really do and take the ace number. (leveling up pitching)
Try hitting this 160 km/h ball! (pitching)
I wanna go to Koshien. (pitching)
(pitching control)
You’re absolutely not hitting my pitch. (pitching control)
Rela~x (pitching control)
Let’s go [again today/today too]! C’mon! (breaking ball; not sure where this is from, so it could mean a few different things in context)
Koshien is nothing like kids’ baseball. (fielding square)
Ossha! [generic encouraging shout] (breaking ball)
All strikeouts! (some pitching stat; i’m not finding anything that says this is a synonym for a no-hitter so not sure what it means exactly)
Don’t you underestimate [us/me]! (coins)
I can forgive an error! If you make excuses, I’ll kill you! (fielding square)
That’s not much. (single coin square, as opposed to a three-coin square)
One more time! Let’s gooo! (three-coin square)
(NOTE #2: i had to reset him into a non-pitcher character to see all the lines and i messed up on the auto-complete of his nickname; 恵 is the correct character used in his name)
No matter how rich you are, it doesn’t give you the time to goof around in baseball. (three-coin square)
Yey! Yey, me! (three-coin square)
Let’s go pick up some chicks. (three-coin square)
I’m gonna go buy a magazine. (three-coin)
You gotten any better at mahjong? (triple-coin panel)
Let’s stop at McDonald’s on the way home. (triple-coin)
What a let-down. (single-coin panel)
You’re gonna have to yell louder than that. (pitching contact; no idea what the context was so I could be off)
I’ve got the visual of hitting his fork ball squared away. (hitting power square)
Koshien is still a long ways off. (hitting power)
Let’s go one more time! Oraa! (hitting power)
Ora! Outta the way! (running square)
Hold it! Stop right there! (running square)
Too slow! Move it! Run, run, run! (running square)
Who could miss a piss-dribbling ball like that? (hitting contact square)
Shit! (hitting contact)

the event i’ve been posting about is not the same one that’s run in previous years; i’ve managed to track down some of the banner art from those, where you got to play against nikogaku, minus imaoka and hamanaka, who apparently were deemed unnecessary. (aniya, mikoshiba and hiratsuka were still the only recruitable units.)
i don’t really know what order the banners were used in, but i’m operating under the theory that the first one had to be changed due to hiratsuka frightening the children.
