Finally trying to finish bokumiku after I was completely blindsided by toshiki seto being railed in episode TWO and episode 3 and 4 bring this sense of just dread that I remember feeling in high school and the preview for episode 5 looks weird as hell but I will persevere the things I do for toshiki seto

bokumiku isn't just about seto toshiki being gay again it's about how fragile and precious it is to be alive. it's about queer struggles. it's about learning from your mistakes and learning how to be able to move forward. it's about guilt and grief and forgiving not just others but yourself and it's about wanting to stay until the end credits are over! and it is also about seto toshiki getting railed within an inch of his life and i think that's beautiful

another thing that drives me a little bit insane about bokumiku (another thing. as if it didn't all drive me insane) is that ritsu's specific flavor of "i think i'm a terrible person so i will do terrible things and hurt people, and in doing so, i'll hurt myself and confirm my belief that i'm a terrible person" insecurity & self hatred (as i interpret his attitude) is just something i get so hard. the guy has plenty of reasons to be insecure and to lean towards self-sabotage... and he does and regrets it even further and it's just??? like. he wasn't right to sleep around when dating masumi, i am not excusing his actions, like idk dude go see a therapist about your life maybe, but also when a character does bad things because they hate themself it hits and when a character does bad things out of self hatred but then TRIES TO ATONE FOR THEM ANYWAY? hell yeah babey that's that good good as the kids say

definitely ~projecting again~ but i 100% relate to young masumi going into a relationship he knew would be toxic on some level bc sometimes when you're young and queer and shy that's just kind of what happens. we're human and we need to be loved, there aren't always tons of options, and when you're that insecure guys like ritsu can easily snatch you up or non-binary lesbians as it was in my case

Unrelated to my various random thoughts, I finished bokumiku today and well. It sure was. I enjoyed it but I unfortunately was reminded about my horrendous middle/high school phase of "I wanna date someone sooo bad" so it was like hitting me in the face like a wet fish
