Today marks one and a half years with my darling boyfriend, c!Rendog! I've changed so much since then and for the better. I do plan on writing more about that once we hit two years, but I will say that I'm so grateful for him.

To commemorate this occasion, I have some art AND an updated yume/selfship intro for us!!

I drew me surrounded by his GigaCorp, default, and King Ren outfits based on the yume/selfship meme my mutual posted HERE. I chose these three as they are the ones that I personally love the most and have felt most affected by.

As a refresher, I'm nonbinary demigirl and panromantic aceflux while c!Ren (as I headcanon him) is transmasc bigender and queer!!

Hey, hey! I saw you followed me and was curious to know if you had some sort of tag I could mute/block for your selfship with Ren? Hello!! My name is Verna, and I am a selfshipper! I do want to note that I am mostly nonsharing with my f/os (Ren and Caine), but I am selective with Guzma.

I've been selfshipping since 2021 but haven't been public until 2023. I primarily selfship due to comfort and trauma from a past abusive relationship. I genuinely love these f/os of mine, though I consider Ren and Caine (especially Ren) to be my "main" partners when it comes to selfship. REN: After he gave up the crown in Season Nine and started shifting focus back towards the record shop and his own builds, he decided to take them on a date to Scarland of all places. He loves that date in particular because he felt more present in the moment and loved how they looked at night during the fireworks show.

VERNA: Their favorite date with Ren had to be when they finally got to Season Ten, the current season, and felt bad for being late (it was more of a server issue as Xisuma was unable to whitelist them right away for some unknown reason). They took Ren to a beach far from the main activity of the server to keep it between the two of them. They really enjoyed it due to it feeling like they were the only ones on the server for once (they've never really gotten to be alone as someone ends up being around).

BRIEF DISCLAIMER THAT I SELFSHIP WITH THE CHARACTER AND NOT THE CONTENT CREATOR.

So, my selfship with Ren actually dates back to season nine. I'll start from there and then talk about how it's changed with the current tenth season!! For Season Nine, I feel like, with any "new" Hermit, people would be excited to try and see how many Hermits they can ship with them. When it came to them and Ren specifically? Ohhhhh, tall and short. Dog and bunny. Red and purple.

I think some people would've tried to mischaracterize it a bit during the King Ren arc by trying to push Verna (side note: I do use my name for certain s/is, including my Hermitsona) into being a queen alongside him being king, rewriting the important fact that they have no desire to have any of that power for themself. Verna might also be rewritten by some fans to be more submissive and write out the stubbornness they have as it would be seen as rude to them. For the fans that do acknowledge that stubbornness, they'd use it for angst. (I mean, I do personally so–). Post King Ren arc, that's where I feel like the fan base would gradually shift into generalized agreements over the couple given the HermitEmpires crossover event in which my Hermitsona is also my Empiressona for Season Two and it could make for more softer moments between the two?

By the time Season Ten comes around, I feel like fans would be more accepting of the ship as I know there would be loads of people against it in favor of other ships they feel are "more canon" (still side eyeing the anons that were so rude about me feeling insecure about my selfship a few months ago when Doc was talking about the ship between him and Ren). I think fans would also latch onto the ship more this season due to my Hermitsona going for the vampire aesthetic and leaning into a bit of a Twilight theme? I'd think that by then, it could even be boosted up into being one of the more well known/popular pairings with Ren.

Overall, there would be the fans that would mischaracterize my s/i just to get the ship to fit their views, the ones that are aggressive about it being in the way of their "superior" ship, and those that would like it a lot. I know my friends and I absolutely love the ship, so I'm not too concerned with it.

To specify what "selective/mutual only" means to me, I personally block/mute tags and phrases related to popular ships involving my f/os. This is mainly for my sake so that others can still enjoy those ships, and I can enjoy my f/o.

I don't mind sharing f/os with mutual, should they also selfship with them, but I would just ask for them to give me a heads-up. I won't have them tag it or anything unless they wish to.

I know I don't own the f/o, and I want others to love them too. I personally just need the warning to prepare myself.

I'll do individual selfship intros for each relationship when I have time, though I do have one for Ren anyways that hasn't changed, tbf.

☕️ - Coffee Shop AU

Oh wow. This could go either way tbh.

My head says Ren is the barista, and I fall for him. But my heart? He's the customer that falls for me. He'd only go to the coffee shop I work at because his usual place is blocked off by construction work.

He falls hard for me. I'm talking "looking at his phone while saying his order but then he looks up at me and blushes heavily" type of shit. He clears his throat, but his voice still cracks types of shit. Oh my god, and when he gets his order, he awkwardly leaves but sneaks so many, not subtle glances my way.

Not only do my friends working with me tease me for it, but he tries to come again the next day for like a week straight before he stops going for a MONTH because he realizes he's much older than me and doesn't want to be weird and I end up missing HIM. Then I sneakily leave my number on his cup. :3

👻 - Ghost AU

Listen. Listen. Season 9 King Ren. He comes back as a ghost instead. It makes it so much harder for me to process things regarding his time as king, but then things get easier after a while.

He can still interact with things as a ghost (because of Joe's Beetlejhost persona), but it's not quite the same as before. It's a learning curve for us both.

GUYS, THIS IS THE SECOND STRAIGHT DAY OF ME THINKING OF MARRYING C!REN

Not in a serious way, but like going from calling him my boyfriend to husband.

I am thinking about it overall and feel like we aren't quite there yet. We're happy where we are simply dating, but god–I can't help but think of us further down the line.

I also think the whole D*c marriage bit set me back a bit on marriage related things with Ren.

🚻 - Body Swap AU

I personally haven't thought about a Body Swap AU, but I think it would absolutely be fun for me and Ren. First off, Ren is like a foot taller than me, so I know he'd spend at an hour exploring different places (mainly both of our bases). He'd also love trying on different outfits and overall raiding my closet.

As for me? It wouldn't be fun for long. I already struggle with body dysmorphia with my own body, but to end up in a body drastically different than mine? I'd end up too hyperaware of myself. I would try and tough it out for Ren's sake.

🏴‍☠️ - Pirate AU

GOD. I HAVE A PIRATE AU FOR THEM. I've been meaning to revamp it a little. For those who do know about it, it only exists because of POW Creations' Pirates SMP that...he was almost canonically in. The TLDR for that is that CC!Ren had asked another content creator about potentially joining but wasn't able to get an invite by the time the series started.

I didn't know this until well after the SMP had ended. All I knew was that he wasn't a part of the SMP, but some of his friends were, so I decided to make an AU based on the SMP to pretty much include him in it so I could continue selfshipping with him.

In this AU, THOUGH IT MAY CHANGE, he was the captain of a ship I was working on. I took short contracts and would go from ship to ship as I pleased. He didn't exactly like that and wanted me to stay. He didn't expect to have fallen for me, nor did he expect to have fallen for me so hard. Ren thrusted a marriage onto me, and I panicked.

I jumped ship into a smaller boat and headed back to shore. I eventually made it onto another ship that took me elsewhere (the main island where Pirates SMP took place) and stayed there, knowing he'd be trying to find me again.
