Auraria - April 28, 2019
On a windy day after a Colorado Symphony concert we left Boettcher Concert Hall, walked up Curtis Street, northwest on 16th Street, southwest on Lawrence Street and into Auraria Campus. Dan wanted to walk around Katie’s alma mater.
In the documentary, The World Before Your Feet, Matt Green finds many churchagogues - buildings that have served as both a church and a synagogue at different times. We were excited to find a churchagogue on our first walking adventure! This is currently housing Emmanuel Art Gallery (below). It served as a church until 19xx, and was a synagogue until 19xx. Notice the Hebrew above the door and the Star of David on top.
Tumblr media
We continued walking around and saw the other 2 churches on the campus. Katie’s grandparents got married in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in 194x (below). We also saw the historic houses on 9th street, all built in the late 1800s.
[Dan had a better pic]
Tumblr media
We spent the most time looking at the Tivoli Student Union, which started as the Tivoli Brewing Company (below). The original structure was built in 1882 and has been added onto. Katie noticed what she thought was a Star of David on the outside of the building near the top and wondered why that would be there.
Tumblr media
After doing some research we learned that this is a German Brewer’s Star. Only in very recent history has a six sided star been immediately associated with Judaism. Over the last thousand years it has meant a variety of things including associations with the occult and alchemy. German and German American brewers used the star as a symbol of quality and purity in their brewing. You can read more about that here:

The powerful practice of envisioning your dream life. Read mine👇 then comment a couple of yours! ⠀ Here is a recent example of my own dream life journaling. ⠀ As you read, ask yourself: ✅How do I feel reading this? ✅Can I sense this experience? ✅What about this inspires me? ✅Why is this so powerful? ⠀ Here’s my example… ⠀ I’m taking a brief moment to write from my vacation home in Aspen. ⠀ I’m grateful to be posting that business is up 5x, life is fun and exciting, and I’m able to amplify my purpose of modeling abundance for good to 1000s each day. I’m so grateful for this freedom I am now living. ⠀ About to go on a hike and then dining in town with my partner, my every desire has come to fruition. My heart always told me I’d profit in life and at the same time share this benefit with others. ⠀ Tomorrow I’ll be flying my M500 from Aspen to Front Range Airport, and then head to a benefit concert at Boettcher Concert Hall to support young artists. Every cell in my body tells me I’m living 100% of my purpose. Sharing my experiences with others and emerging into world class success sends my heart into the stratosphere. ⠀ My 6 premium 6-digit clients are on their way to authentic earnings of 8-dig years and I’m honored to be an inspiring force in their development. ⠀ I’ve fully off-loaded my digital marketing business to my hand-picked staff and it runs effortlessly without me increasing earnings to 8-dig this year. ⠀ My 30-day accelerator courses (4/year) are attracting 5000 members at $1K/per—pouring into my account $20M/annum passively since they’re fully automated. ⠀ These are simply the effects of pouring out my purpose to the world of modeling abundance for good. ⠀ I’m grateful to remain grounded and connected to family, friends, and colleagues more than 20 hours per week since adopting a 5-Hour Workweek philosophy. ⠀ I’m truly blessed to receive and act as a conduit of abundant energy toward all. 🙏🏻 ⠀ ~~~~~~~ ⠀ Again… comment a couple of your own dream life visions👇 and remember to observe how it raises your energy and actually begins to manifest in your magnificent mind! Gasteig Cultural Center, Munich Building

Gasteig Cultural Center in Munich
23 June 2021
Gasteig Cultural Center
Design: HENN
Location: Munich, Germany
The Gasteig in Munich, the largest cultural center in Europe, receives almost two million visitors a year and houses a unique combination of programs: a concert hall, an auditorium, educational facilities, and a public library. Constructed in 1985, the original Gasteig is a fortress-like compound of introverted functions. HENN’s for the Gasteig Cultural Center proposal transforms it into an open and democractic space whose cultural and educational programs are part of a dynamic exchange—with each other and with the city.
The heart of the New Gasteig is the Kulturbühne or Culture Stage—a bridge-like glass volume that connects the many functions of the center and displays their vibrant interior to the city of Munich. Its transparent and open architecture stands in deliberate contrast to the monolithic character of the existing building.
The Culture Stage functions as circulation, foyer, exhibition space and event area, a new space of encounter and connection. With this simple, yet radical gesture, HENN has transformed the Gasteig from an inert container of culture into an active collaborator—it is a space of cultural production where employees, students, and visitors are all actors on the Cultural Stage.
Each program—the Philharmonic, the Carl Orff Hall, the Munich City Library, the Munich Center of Further Education and the University of Music and Performing Arts—underwent its own transformation. In collaboration with the renowned acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota, the Philharmonic was given a complete acoustic re-design while the library, constructed during the height of print media, was updated for the digital age, its closed-off, silent spaces were opened up and its collaborative spaces emphasized.
HENN’s modernization of the cultural center is a radical reconceptualization of the building and the role of culture within the city. Now more than ever, we understand and appreciate the power of art, music, literature, and education to reflect and elevate society during moments of prosperity, and to comfort and stabilize during times of hardship. The New Gasteig—open, transparent, and inviting—anticipates a future where it will once again receive millions of annual visitors
