It’s no wonder self esteem in young people is so low. How is anyone supposed to compete with a flawless version of themselves? We tweak, and adjust, and photoshop, and filter, and in the end we are left with a distorted version of ourselves. Then when we look in the mirror and don’t see that flawless face our shoulders drop. Filters are fun but the fact that they even out skin tone, distort face shape, change lighting and generally give a false impression of the subject is exacerbating an epidemic of body dysmorphia, low self esteem, anxiety and depression.
