"Bob's Burgers" Season 12 Episode Ranking Rewatch
So, I've been rewatching "Bob's Burgers" from the beginning and ranking the episodes using the spreadsheet that @babsvibes created! If you want to know why I'm doing this or how I view the 1-5 rating scale, you can check out my Season 1 post! If you want to check out any of the other seasons, I've been using the "bob's burgers episode ranking rewatch" tag for all of them.
Now, on to Season 12:
Average (Mean) Score: 4.18
Mode (Most Common) Ranking: 4
Ranking Breakdown: 6 5s 14 4s 2 3s
Season as a whole thoughts:
I guess the best way I can think of to describe this season is solid but not spectacular. As has generally been the case with the last couple of seasons, there are several episodes that have grown on me upon repeat viewing. There's even a few I watched multiple times during the course of this rewatch and ended up increasing their score. I find most of these episodes to be pleasant and I'm happy to rewatch them, but there aren't a lot that would end up on a list of my favorite episodes.
Some thoughts on specific episodes (and feel free to ask if you want my thoughts on an episode I didn't comment on):
"Driving Big Dummy": This was one where I increased its grade after a repeat viewing. What moves it up into 4 territory for me is how much I love the ending- Bob realizing that Teddy isn't lonely but is actually really good at connecting with people in his own Teddy way- and that Bob actually kind of envies that since he is kind of gruff and unsocial. The episode turning out this way genuinely surprised me when I first watched it- I expected it to be another episode where Teddy came across looking kind of pathetic and obsessed with Bob (like the "Just the Trip" subplot that I strongly dislike) and I'm really glad it wasn't.
"Seven-tween Again": Probably my favorite episode of this season, one of my favorite Gene episodes, and maybe the most I've ever related to Gene. For me, no matter what age I am I always have moments like Gene does in this episode, where I wish I could just be in a younger, "simpler", more familiar part of my life...and I always realize that I don't actually want that and I can only keep going forward. Also, the Gretchen subplot plot is hilarious, especially the part where Bob is coming back from the stylist and Louise tells him that Gretchen killed Linda (and he's next!)
"Touch of Eval(uations)": The sleeper hit of this season! I only vaguely remembered it, but really loved it. I honestly think it's one of my top Louise episodes. I love the fact that she successfully leads the students in taking collective action to exploit their power over the teachers for the whole school day (there's my future labor union activist!) and I also love her crisis of conscience after turning in her bad evaluation of Ms. Labonz and her scheme to correct it. And I love that Ms. Labonz really has Louise's number by pointing out that: 1. she's really bright but doesn't always apply herself and 2. anger and vengeance really motivate her (there is a reason Louise has so many enemies.) Also, Gene's "I didn't do school so good. Now I do school not so bad." lives in my head rent-free; I think it's great way to describe mild improvement in something.
"Video Killed the Gene-io Star": As I've mentioned before, one of the things this rewatch has made me appreciate more about the show is how Courtney and Gene's relationship has evolved, and this episode is another good example of that. But what really puts this one over the top for me is Billy Bandana subplot. Briefcases with weird stuff in them (and, especially, briefcases that only contain food) scratch a really specific comedy itch for me. And Linda and Teddy are hilarious in this subplot (especially Teddy's idea of normal business stuff that would be in a briefcase.) Definitely one of the best ever restaurant subplots to a school-centered episode in my book!
"Ancient Misbehavin'": "Pancake, my number one snuggle pal, this is for you..." So, I never would've written my first fic if Pancake had never been introduced. And if I never wrote that fic I likely wouldn't have joined tumblr or made the friends I've made here. So, how I can I not love this episode? But everyone's favorite stuffed flounder aside, I think it is a fantastic episode. I LOVE Louise, Rudy, and Millie as a trio and hope that is explored again in future episode. I particularly love the way that Rudy was portrayed in this episode- he wasn't a reluctant participant in the scheme, at some points he was even more enthusiastic than Louise (he really wants that wind-up dolphin!) And I like that when he gets concerned about the consequences of being caught, Louise actually ends up sharing them (well, maybe not concerned about going to jail, but definitely realizing there were consequence she hadn't thought of). ALSO: this episode introduces my other favorite 4th grader ship: Arnlee! Look at Arnold Evans and Kaylee Morganstern dancing at the symposium at the end?! Aren't they so freaking cute?! Don't you just want to a read a fic about the backstory to that moment?!? (No, you're normal? Well, very well, but I have one in case you change your mind.)
"Interview with a Pop-pop-pire": This was another sleeper hit. I remembered its premise but very little else about it. As with a lot of the other anthology episodes, I love it! I particularly enjoyed the unique animation style of Linda's "Giving Tree" inspired story- and I really loved the conflict and reconciliation between Bob and Big Bob (stories about them always get to me- "difficult history but we're trying to get along better" father-son dynamics really hit near my heart). And we learned some lore about Bob's mom! Finally!
"The Spider House Rules": Another episode that I moved up from a 3 to a 4 upon another viewing. I just think it's sweet (and the Bob trying to make other dad friends subplot is pretty funny). I definitely headcanon that Louise gets a parentally approved pet spider in her early teens (after wearing them down from repeated, unsuccessful requests for a dog).
"Clear and Present Ginger": Both storylines have lots of good laughs, and I really think that Linda's dynamic with Gayle, Gretchen, and Ginger is interesting- it honestly reminds me of a way I was with sometimes friends when I was a kid- I had friends I knew from different places (church, school, cousins) and I never wanted them to all get together for some reason. Like I just related to them all differently? So, Linda's plot made me think that maybe that kind of thinking is a bit more common than I realized (or I'm weird in the same way as Linda Belcher, which is also good).
"A-Sprout A Boy": Like with "Driving Big Dummy", this was another one where I was pleasantly surprised by the ending- Bob realizing that Gene was actually doing something interesting with Purrbo, and that he should've given Gene more of the benefit of the doubt- didn't feel like the predictable sitcom ending for this story, and I really enjoyed it for that reason.
"Some Like It Bot (two-parter)": I feel like I'm outside of the mainstream of the fandom on this one but I don't love it, especially part one. I totally think that it is well-made: the production design is great, the songs are outstanding, it's probably a good parody of "Blade Runner" (which I haven't scene in 20+ years) but I just find it boring. I think it just resonates emotionally more with others than it does for me. I like part 2 better, I think since more of it takes place in reality rather than Tina's story, and it's always fun for Yuli to have a larger role. Also, I hate the fact that we never learn who did the Bob's-bashing graffiti in the bathroom! (My theory is Jimmy Pesto paid someone to do it)
Random thoughts (stuff that doesn't affect the ratings):
I didn't talk about "Stuck in the Kitchen with You" but it's end credits sequence is in the top-5 for me! Super-catchy song and a great tribute to Saturday morning superhero cartoons!

Linda is an extremely protective mama bear, and I love her for it 😭
Agh, sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted any art, hopefully eventually I’ll get back to having a more consistent posting schedule
[ID]: Digital fanart of Linda Belcher from Bob’s Burgers, along with the head of Bob Belcher. Linda can be seen from the waist-up with her hands on her hips and an angry expression on her face. She has fluffy, shoulder-length black hair and blue eyes. She also has large red glasses and a bright red shirt. Bob’s simplified head can be seen, with dot eyes and an upset expression on his face. He has short, fluffy black hair and a large mustache, along with tired lines under his eyes. They are standing in front of the exterior of Wagstaff School.
#bobs burgers#linda belcher#bob belcher#i just love this moment so much#in case you don’t know it’s from “some like it bot part 2” in season 12#ngl i think they should let linda hit someone with a bag of oranges

i know its been 2 years but i really wish bobs burgers had the kids move up a grade after the movie
#it made sense!! tina had her birthday and then we immediately went to the movie where it was the end of the year/soon to be start of summer#and i know theres multiple halloween/thanksgiving/christmas episodes. and bob has had 2 birthdays so far#but tinas felt different bc it was a season 1 thing and it just felt right. after 12 seasons shaking it up. it wouldve worked perfectly!!#i think ive found that i like SOME aging. like adventure time had 10 seasons but finn grew from 12-17 over them#i dont think that bobs burgers should age them often or anything. but i hope they do eventually age them like. 1 year#i mean. fuck. king of the hill had multiple halloween/thanksgiving/christmas episodes and they still had a one year age up#anyway i watched the movie again a couple days ago and have been thinking about this

just finished 12 season of bob’s burgers and i’m not ready for the movie not season 13
#i wanted to prolong this bas alas#i’ve seen some animation pics from the movie and it looks GOOD#also season 12 was really great arc wise imo it really had the kids address themselves and their behaviors which i adored#i love the kids a lot a lot actually and i love joining bob and linda watching them grow up#i love the moments louise decides she wants people to have fun#and i love when tina has moments where she realizes she doesn’t need the group of friends she’s built#but also she’s embraced their friendship as well especially with the boys#a whole episode where willingly hung out with and helped zeke is IMMENSE growth on her part ESPECIALLY when jimmy jr wasn’t even there#also while she’s still 13 and her crush on jj is still there she’s accepted him as a friend and has learned to treat that friendship nicely#and i love that she’s allowed herself the room to be mean to him too sometimes cause he deserves it whack him again for me T!#AND GENE my baby who is funny enough imo the most similar to bob#like all kids have some traits they’ve got from him and linda but gene reminds me of him in funny ways esp a younger version of him#i really believe bob would’ve been more like gene had his mother not passed and his father not gotten distant#but anyway gene’s seriousness and the way he behaved in the locker love mv episode stood out to me personally#but also the creativity that exists in them both and is expressed so beautifully with what they love#bob with his burgers and gene with his music#and then also tina with her writing and louise with her scheming#but also gene not being too clingy with linda this season is such a refresher cause that was getting too much too weird#and louise is my babh i could talk for hours about her actually#and then bob and linda and their evergrowing love for each other#and then for their kids who they want the best for and it’s starting to become obvious to them that their kids are gonna need them a lot#more often because this season and i’m gonna assume the movie and the next season are gonna introduce more insecurities into the kids’ lives#which isn’t to say they weren’t there before or weren’t insecure before but i think it’ll continue to be pointed out more#they’ve done a wonderful job of raising their babies to be as expressive of themselves as they want to but the world as we saw in the season#12 finale isn’t ready for that kind of expression and it’s gonna hit the kids pretty hard because they’re all weird and different and the#kind of weird and different the world chews and spits out so they’re gonna need to fall back heavily on their parents as well as their#circles which the show developed more this season#with tina and the kids krew and then gene with his growing friendship with courtney and alex and even peter#and then louise and her friendship with rudy and ollie and andy and jessica and millie#tag: bob’s burgers watch

Inktober Day 5- Map
TLDR - Here’s a map of the shops on Bob’s Burgers Ocean Avenue as based on the Bob’s Burgers Movie and parts of season 13. Extensive Notes to follow.
This is the map I alluded to earlier in the week of the storefronts with visible names in the movie. The dimensions of the buildings are based on the aerial shot from the end of “The Plight Before Christmas”.
There are inconsistencies between the movie and the series (as well as within the movie itself) as far as the color and location of some of these buildings. I’ve defaulted to colors used in the series but names from the movie. Several of these shops have had different names earlier in the series so I’m working from the movie onward for consistency’s sake.
1. Hotel- Unsure if this hotel has a name.
2. Reflections
3. Spoke of the Devil (Bike Shop) - Shop is named “Spoke of the Devil” the words “bike shop” can be seen as part of a neon sign in the window.
4. First Oceanside Savings Bank
5. Yours Truly, Stationary
6. Jimmy Pesto’s Pizzeria
7. The Petalphile
8. Unknown store front - This building is usually depicted as blue with a large front window indicating that it’s some sort of storefront but I’ve been unable to find a name so far.
9. From Here To Maternity (Pregnancy Clothes) - The movie depicts this building as being brown but the series almost always shows it as green so I’ve made it green on the map.
10. Fresh Off The Presses (Cleaners) - Shop is named “Fresh Off The Presses” with “cleaners” in a neon sign in the window.
11. Unknown Store Front - This shop has a visible name in several shots from the movie but I can’t make it out.
* Some shots from the movie show an additional pink building at the end and others don’t. It does not have a awning or large front window and could therefore possibly residential or a service (such as a lawyer). This building does not appear in the aerial shot so I did not include it.
12. Ocean Market
13. Needles to Say - This shop as well as the following three also appear in season thirteen and are particularly visible in “What a (April) Fool Believes”.
14. Walk All Over Me (Flooring Showcase)
15. You Were Framed (Picture Framing)
16. For Pete’s Cake
17. It’s Your Funeral (Home and Crematorium)
18. Bob’s Burgers
19. Store Next Door - The often vacant orange store front next to Bob’s.
20. Red building- This building is very visible in several shots but isn’t shown to have a name. It has three front doors at the top of some stairs. Because of its layout it seems most likely to be residential. (As we know this neighborhood has mixed zoning, such as Mr. Huggins’ apartment building)
21. Blue Building - The positions of this building and the beige building are switched in the movie. In the series it’s fairly consistently blue so that’s what I’ve included. It seems similar in structure to the red building and could also be residential, but we don’t get many good shots of this part of the street so it’s hard to tell.
22. Beige Building - This part of the street is most often seen from the alley. It appears to have a loading dock. This where Alice parks her food truck in “As I Walk Through the Alley of the Shadow of Ramps” in season 8.
23. Liquor - This building has been depicted in different colors but has a prominent sign stating “Liquor”. I’ve seen it called “Oh La Liquor” but I’d like to see this in later season materials.
This is just what I’ve gathered as of ep 14.1. Please feel free to let me know if you have any additional information. (Or an official map) I’m absurdly invested in this.
There is also an aerial shot from the movie that shows Wagstaff in relation to Ocean Avenue (it’s also mentioned to be four blocks away) and I just wish I could take screen shots so I could study it better. I’ll make a map of this whole dang town.

Okay so, I really wasn't the one to ship anyone with other characters in Bob's Burgers, but recently I've been seeing posts about Zeke having a possible crush on Tina, hinted by certain scenes and dialogues.
And that got me thinking on episode 12 of the third season: "Broadcast Wagstaff School News", specifically of what Zeke says at the end of the episode. He confesses that while, most of the times the "poop" incidents were an accident, the next ones were for Tina.
It's so wild and somewhat sweet. It implies that Zeke saw how Tina was taking the story seriously, and gave her even more material for her to unravel her story. LIKE, he was doing it for Tina, so she would continue her segment. Idk it's just so, sweet in the most weird way? which is the core of most wholesome moments.
But the more I watch it, the more I think that Zeke has the fattest, biggest crush on Tina.
