I had no idea it was Giran week, and I’m a day late!! I had to Hurry Up and do one of the prompts so here’s my picture for the ‘Backstory’ prompt with a trio of younger Girans!!

So...I made this little ficlet piece for the @bnhacharacterweeks thing and they had a week on Dabi! I just had to write something for my favourite villain.  I kinda mixed prompts together? So I put Grudge and Friends...cause I just really wish that he and Toga would interact more... Welp...have at it with my unbeta’d and super messy prompt thing! 

It was stupid to believe in things such as heaven or hell. You live, you die and then the world goes on without you. Dabi lived by this ideal in order to soften the fact that if he was wrong then he would absolutely have an express pass to hell.

What he didn’t expect was for hell to come meet him in person.

“DABI LOOK AT THAT ONE.”

A disappointed sigh escaped him as he followed Toga around, both of them in disguise as they shopped around in the Donki Oote that was close to the hideout. For a ward that brags about being all about gambling and ‘shady’ business they sure don’t have a lot of legitimate clothing stores. Only fifteen minutes had passed and already he had to carry Toga away from the knife collection wall, the girl flailing in his arms screaming about how she can see herself stabbing her ‘new crush’ with one of them.

They weren’t even close to the clothing section.

“Shut it, crazy. We aren’t here for a fun run.” Dabi ignores the stares of the buyers as Toga hangs uselessly on his shoulder, “Shigaraki wants us to go undercover for a recon mission and like hell are you wearing another school uniform.”

“I have others…”

“Stolen ones don’t count. We need to look like ‘normal’ people.” the weight is lifted off his shoulder as he puts her down, “Or can you not do normal for thirty minutes?”

Toga answers back with a flash of her smile and a poke on his chest, “Fine. But no peeking while I’m changing~” “I have no interest in children or serial killers.” Why did the League even let Toga join them? Weren’t they trying to carry out the mission of ridding the world of those ‘fake’ heroes? If Dabi were to compare it to anything, it would be like assembling a decent team of players for a game and then having one person with severe achmomania who says that she likes it when a man is ‘beaten black and blue.’

Whatever.

This was by far the cheapest way to get inconspicuous clothing. Cheap, almost impossible to match up clothing. What the fuck was he supposed to do with a hoodie with a bear on it? Why couldn’t they just sell plain black ones?

There was a phrase he hadn’t used in a while.

His hands grazed the fiber of a light blue cardigan, the staples in his cheeks rising with his smile as he remembered something.

“Nee-san...your fashion choices are pretty boring, huh?”

Fuyumi threw her cardigan at the boy leaning on her bedroom door, a bandaged hand catching it and tossing it right back at her. “Says the guy who is starting to go into his ‘all black’ phase.” He scoffs, “Phase? Excuse me this is who I am now.”

“How about this?”

Dabi barely gets a good look at Toga’s outfit before he has to look away. It felt like his cone receptors were burning up. From the look that he managed to catch before almost being blinded it seemed that Toga had picked out a translucent white hoodie that reached to her midriff and a pair of holographic metallic, high waist shorts which he would imagine were only allowed to be sold online for fear of exposure.

It took some time but he turned back to take a second look, the girl giggling and twirling as she looked at herself in one of the many concave mirrors above the store.

“Are you fucking serious?”

“Very!” she turned around so that her back was to him, hand on her hip and then turned her head to smile back at him, “Saw this in a magazine once~ Don’t I look like a pop star?”

Eyes inevitably moved down to take in the tightness of the shorts, head tilting as he remembered that he sure hadn’t hooked up with anyone in a while...

“Besides! Imagine the way blood will look when it splatters against the fabric!”

And there’s his common sense.

“We are not going to a rave. Hand man said we need ‘inconspicuous’ clothes. I know it’s going to be hard but I really need you to blend into the crowd.”

Toga opened her mouth.

“Without using your quirk.”

If they were to use her quirk now they would be getting unwanted publicity from the media. Everything had been quiet for a couple of days and if a story suddenly popped out of ten or more girls getting stabbed in a dark alleyway, that would immediately make headlines the following day.

Toga wasn’t satisfied by just stabbing one person so he wasn’t going to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Better to hide their power and depend on what still made them human.

Well, as human as they could possibly look. Shigaraki had picked the most ‘normal’ people in the League and his choice already spoke about the current situation of the small villain group. Normal wasn’t really in any of their descriptions...but maybe that was for the best.

The metal of the clothing racks felt cool under his fingers, the almost icy sensation channeling a comfort that he only experienced when he was a child on his mother’s lap.

In this society, normal meant getting attention for all the wrong reasons. Normal was declaring someone a hero simply because of the popularity they have and not the lives they have saved. 

They could do whatever they wanted without any consequences.

Nobody questioned the heroes because the heroes made the rules. A hero deserved everything because he ‘saved lives’ and worked for ‘the good of the public.’ The law overlooked a hero because it’s not their business if the hero marries for profit! Who cares what a hero does just as long as he keeps the people safe! It doesn’t matter who the hero is hurting inside the walls of his own house.

Endeavor could do as he pleased because he was a hero.

“...Dabi?”

A tap on his shoulder hauled him back to reality, his grip on the rack loosening as Dabi took in the amount of melted clothed hangers that were now sizzling on the floor from the amount of heat the now bright red clothing rack was emitting.

Thank god it was one o’clock in the morning.

Toga picked up a hanger off the floor, a varsity jacket that had sprinkles of rapidly cooling metal attached to the collar while others had melted straight through and gave the jacket a bit more personality.

“Here...you’ll look good in this…” no trace of psychopathic joy lingered in her words, just a silent understanding that he had gone too deep inside his head.

“Thanks.”

His gaze went from the jacket to the outfit she had picked out. Toga had decided on a dark pencil skirt with a circle zipper in front, a white shirt with some random message and a pink jacket that closely resembled the jacket she had just found for him.

The image of a boy with one brown eye and the other blue flashed in his head, his tiny body barely fitting inside the very familiar looking band shirt that he had picked out.

I like this one! I want to keep this one nii-san! It makes me look like you! 

Dabi grinned as he slipped off what he currently had on in order to see how well the jacket fit him “So you can actually pull off normal?”

“I just picked something that Izuku might like~”

He can’t help but laugh at that, “No matter what fashion choices you make, that kid is probably going to end up with some other chick.”

“Don’t just crush my maiden dream!”

They both start walking towards the exit, Dabi picking out a random pair of non-prescription glasses and putting them on Toga.

“Uh huh. Just keep walking. Security spotted us.”

She lets out a giggle, “Oh? Are we not paying for these?”

The older shrugs as he heard several security officers call out to them. “I’m a villain. By law I’m not allowed to pay.”

An Announcement

Do not worry, bnhacharacterweeks is not dead!

The Mustard Week is still happening, and next character week is going to come soon. But not after-this-weekend soon. Instead, the week of June 22nd-29th is going to be free - a great opportunity to browse our previous prompts and see if there’s anything that inspires you!

This also marks a change in the routine. From now on, Tumblr will be involved in the decision-making process for this blog. The week of July 2nd-6th is going to be dedicated to Tsunotori Pony - a class 1-B student from America - but it doesn’t have any prompts yet. So if you’ve got any ideas you think would help her character shine, please send them into our inbox! The mod will make sure to try and fit everyone’s wishes into the usual 10-prompt + AU format.
