Bakugou’s always gone to bed really early, you hear. So it doesn’t surprise you in the early days of your relationship when most nights you find yourself climbing into bed after he’s already been asleep for a while.

But those first couple times, no matter how quiet and careful you try to be, you always wake him.

He transitions from sleep to wakefulness in a heartbeat, startling you. Pinning you down, pressing you into the bed with his body, before his eyes even have the chance to register what’s in front of him. Hero reflexes, you guess.

Gradually, he gets used to it. Used to you being part of how he begins his days and ends his nights. And you make an effort to go to bed earlier, conscious of the fatigue that sometimes settles into his shoulders, his face.

These days when you crawl into bed, he stays asleep—for the most part. Some part of his brain stirs, his body reacts, because he always pulls you in close, mutters your name. He only settles once you say his name back, the lines of his body relaxing against yours.

I THINK. because bakugou is so bad at verbalising all that he feels for you, he goes above and beyond plus-ultra and everything in his actions. he knows he loves you, he thinks about it every time he sees you but he just can’t say it. so what does he do? he covers the table corners when you’re picking something up from the floor. he does your dishes for you even when you didn’t ask. he greets you at the door when you come home and he takes the time to set your bag down onto the cabinet and he bends down to take your shoes off. he prepares your lunch boxes to take to work everyday without fail. when it’s a sunday and you two are sleeping in, he’ll use his head to block the sun from shining onto your eyes so you won’t wake up. so he can cuddle you longer. his actions are always over the top because it’s the result from having all of these iloveyouiloveyouiloveyouiloveyou bouncing inside his head with no way of escaping and this is the only way they can get out to the world and into you.

raising your eyebrows, you acknowledged his presence and answered his question. "huh?" removing your headphones, "oh!" you held back a laugh. "it's a game! you wouldn't get it." you chuckled as you continued on your work.

he simply smacked his lips at your unfulfilling answer. why can't you just explain? it's not even the first time this has happened. on multiple occasions you'll just scream out some random ass flavor (ice-cream?) and get a "nope" or a "wrong" in response.

you smiled to yourself, sinking into the couch and licking your lips, a lingering refreshing taste on your tongue. it's definitely mint flavored.

The Ultimate Enemy ends a bit differently. Though Danny does still overcome his evil future self, Dan leaves him with a few parting gifts for his trouble.

Danny is thrown into another universe, and his obsession is distorted. Where it once was Protection, now all it is is Violence. One last-ditch attempt by Dan to make Danny into a monster like him.

However, Danny’s human mind is still intact. So despite feeling the perpetual urge from his ghost half, he can keep it in check. Somewhat.

But not entirely.

So he becomes a Rogue. He doesn’t like it, but what else can he do? He needs to do something.

Of course, he does his best to minimize real harm, to focus his attacks on those that deserve it - the polluting factories, the corrupt businessmen, and all others that exploit people. He tries to eke out as much nourishment for his core as he can from the engagements, especially the fights against the heroes that come to stop him.

But it’s not enough. He still knows he’s causing harm and hates every second of it, even as his obsession sings at being fed.

The heroes notice. How could they not? A powerful, young, villain who clearly doesn’t want to be doing what they’re doing but seemingly can’t stop? There must be something else going on. Some force pushing him to do this.

And they’re going to save him from it.
