I love (and cringe at) the played-up-even-more-with-real-people-beyond-what-the-cartoon-ever-did-overtly-without-other-prompting nature of Katsuki’s fixation on Izuku and I LOVE how he is SO upset at Ochako’s observations and input.

And most of all I love the “I’m gonna try to be a punk about even this!” big-eyed “you can eat it” he gives Ochako as he slinks off to lick his wounds and think about how he made a fool of himself about this. This actor is really doing his best cartoon shitty punk for Katsuki and it’s incredible! It’s the kind of cringe that warms my heart. He’s truly giving it his all, and of course Ochako is a delight, too!

not surprising it was hard to find pictures of him, we kept hearing him talking or seeing his overlay on the screen at the back of the theatre from early on;

but every time he made an actual appearance or had lines (until late in the USJ scene) it was so obscured by smoke that we had concluded kurogiri was indeed being played by a smoke machine offstage/back of the stage and shigaraki was just on his own. with vape.

we started seeing an actual kurogiri-like shape during some other scenes however!

until he came to the forefront to knock out 13 and made his clearest appearance in the musical so far, or at least the closest to the audience & cameras, but it was over in about 5 seconds so we nearly missed it and had to replay it;

and while this is the least fuzzy pic he's still cut off that's how LITTLE discernible footage there is of him. true cryptid. but we were able to guess from that one that he was indeed played by an actor (his legs move realistically, no stilts etc) wearing a gigantic kurogiri hat with a smoke machine inside it. there are specific holes for the smoke to come out of:

ok so first of all, SO glad you came to me with this. this is so important. initially, my first impulse was to say OBVIOUSLY since he is purble, he must taste like grape. but then i was like no that's too obvious. too simple. perhaps he is blackberry. or funnier, watermelon breeze. or whatever. but I can't choose there's so many hilarious flavors he could be. my man is the reanimated corpse of a seventeen year old who is in charge of a bunch of unhinged 20 somethings, perhaps he is whatever Slapple Menthol™ must be. or, considering this is shiggy smoking this man, perhaps he is a clove situation: no tobacco, all spice (all the sigma males smoke clove.) eventually, defeated, i had to consult my crack team of scientists (goof chat) on this matter and it was very much a consensus:

The special effects are amazing and the costume design and blocking is perfection.
