a/n: hi, sweet people !! i've been practicing my english skills to write and expand my vocabulary but i'm still not quite good, so i apologize if you see something misspelled :c i accept criticism !! ok, so, yesterday i saw enchanted and disenchanted and realized how much i wanna be like giselle haha and when i looked for fanfiction with a giselle-like reader i was left heartbroken since i didn't find any TT so i took it upon myself to write something, hope you like this <3

♡ ୭̥ ° bakugo katsuki

this boy is known for showing his hate for sweet things, yet no one – not even him – is able to comprehend why you're the exception.

since the first day of school he can tell you're going to be more annoying than all the other extras. randomly humming and singing, using smooth arm movements as if you came from a fairytale.

you look harmless, a stupid pushover. his only comfort is that you won't get in his way.

or that's what he thinks.

because with time, he starts seeing more of you. his gaze starts to linger whenever you're around, putting careful attention to your actions, your expressions. wide eyes and radiant smile, always trying to spread kindness and love, so genuine; you're like an open book.

katsuki's rough, katsuki's loud, katsuki's explosive.

so imagine his surprise when he realizes with time that the sight of you makes his eyes soften, his chest warm, his guard drop.

he wants to deny it, he wants to deny it very strongly. however, everyone can tell how, little by little, he starts to open up to you.

he lets you be closer, so vivid around him. you can do things that others would get yelled at for trying. when did anyone see somebody getting into bakugou's personal space – whether it is laying on his shoulder or playing with his hair – and leave unharmed? when did anyone see somebody using his stuff and not recieving any kind of ill treatment for doing so?

the two of you start spending time together, much to his dismay because of your classmates' teasing. yet it takes you being in danger during a villain attack for katsuki to realize how deep his feelings are.

oh, no– he's falling in love.

and he goes livid. he might seem like someone who already acts recklessly during combat but that's not the truth at all. the want, the need to take you into his arms and protect you is what leads him to take such impulsive decisions.

don't get him wrong, he knows you can defend yourself; you're just as much of a badass as you are of an optimist, after all.

but it's this side you bring out of him. this soft, tender side.

it drives him crazy.

so, once the horror passes and your class settles into its usual endeavors, he does what he knows best: he tries to push you. he tries to make you leave, to scare you off.

but why aren't you running away?

why are you cradling his face with a gentle, loving touch?

one thing leads to the other and your lips meet in a true love's kiss, as you would say.

after that, katsuki resigns to listening to your rambling about animals and love and flowers–

he's there to give you a reality check when it's needed, anyway.

"get out of that pretty little head of yours, dumbass, there's fucking homework to do"

yeah, he wouldn't have it any other way.

bonus: you're literally a grumpy x sunshine pairing !! it's hilarious to see you two in the common room because katsuki seems to hold back in showing physical affection or any state of flusteredness. you learned not to demand it from him, either, because he always gets red and would hate for anyone else other than you to see it. it's alright, though, because as soon as you're alone he turns into a clingy puppy. good luck trying to get rid of him to do something just as brief as going to the bathroom !!

shouto's life has never been any sort of fairytale. all that love chitchat... yeah, pretty much false.

but then he meets you, and you're so eager to show him.

so you start sticking to him, following him around. it could look like pestering for some people, but to shouto?

oh, shouto's charmed by you.

it takes him some time. before the sports festival, he couldn't help but give you cold stares and dry replies. of course, your enthusiastic self would take all of that without complaining.

but it is after the event that he starts to open his eyes and contemplate a little more of you. especially after you compliment his quirk and express how happy you are for him, for truly giving his all during the fights and making use of his fire.

another element, you said, that was part of him and needed to be seen. you mentioned how you believed in him, warm smile painted on your lips as you beamed with joy.

there was no way he would get his eyes off of you after that.

although shouto is quiet, his gaze is intense. thankfully you're unaware of such things – trained to being accostumed to stares by your whole life experience – so you can't tell how the next days he's so entranced by you and the way you carry yourself so gracefully.

you see beauty everywhere, often even stopping in your tracks to observe your surroundings. you seem to shine, delighted.

too occupied by twirling around and interacting with everyone around you, you fail to notice how he's softly smiling at the sight.

as time passes, your conversations stop being one-sided. his replies show more interest, it's not only about his gaze anymore but also about the way he accepts all your affections; melting into your touch.

the way he's always there to protect you when villain attacks happen, when anyone looks at you the wrong way or tries to talk to you in as much as a slightly rude tone. the way he comforts you whenever you're sensitive about something, never questioning where did it come from.

you're his top priority.

so when you share a first kiss, he feels his heart pumping so hard it could jump right off his chest. this unknown feeling, leading him to be so attached to you, was love all this time.

you were right about showing him, he figures.

because now holding your hand gives him so much happiness that he now kind of gets why you're so enthusiastic about said concept.

when you go on one of your rambles about it and ask him, "right?" he smiles at you and responds:

"yes, my love, i think i know now"

you smile at him, so widely as you always do, and he leans in to leave a kiss on your forehead.

bonus: when he tells you his family story for the first time, you cry. you cry so much until you feel his strong arms wrap around you. yet shouto, despite trying to comfort you since you were the one crying, feels as if your embrace comforts him. you hug him by the waist, rubbing his back so gently and carefully that it brings tears to his eyes. everyday he feels more enamoured by you.

♡ ୭̥ ° midoriya izuku

you meet for the first time with izuku because of bumping into him during the quirk's test on the first day of class. he falls and you crouch along with him, soft-spokenly apologizing and asking if he's alright.

as he looks up at you, the boy can only think of how you look exactly like an angel.

you best believe our baby broccoli blushes furiously to his ears.

it doesn't take you anything to become friends and when you do he realizes that, despite both of you being pretty positive people, you have very different ways of thinking.

everything to you is magical, wonderful, exciting. izuku learned this from only the first few days of knowing you, and he found it really beautiful and encouraging. it was something to admire you for, and it never failed to impress him the way you would always be open to new opportunities, grateful for every single one you were given.

similarly, nothing to you was ever a problem! so when izuku rambled about his past, his difficulties with his quirk and worries you always found a way to make his point of view shift 180° and move on to positive thoughts.

in a world where he's exposed to so much pressure, you act as a beacon of life that peaks through the darkness.

and so, you're with him every step of the way.

he doesn't even know when his love for you starts blooming, especially since he has such a focus on heroics that doesn't usually let him think about anything else. but when he finds himself dreaming about your bright smile, mumbling as he watches you from afar sing to happy little animals you encountered, blushing to the tips of his ears by only hearing you say his name with so much care and glee–

he realizes too late he's down bad. in fact, he's the last one to realize, since the whole class watches in horror as you two interact so lovingly with each other as almost second nature.

mina has the theory that the two of you are secretly together, but it is obvious for everyone that if you two really were, you would be shouting it to the four winds. that's just who you are, and that's just how they know izuku loves you.

of course, you're the first one to make a move.

you go up to him before class one random morning and ask him if he would like to go out on friday afternoon. he accepts at first, smiling widely at you and you respond with a bubbly "alright then! it's a date!"

his face seemed to turn all shades of red and even go through some other colors before digesting that information.

"a-a d-date with me...?" he lifts a finger, you hum in amusement.

"of course, silly. i'd want no other prince for me but you."

needless to say, it goes amazingly and now the class has to deal with you giving him little pecks on his lips, cheeks and hands as he turns red because of the sudden affection.

bonus: in his notebook page about your quirk he has written a whole analysis of how you and your voice are appealing to animals and what does that have to do with it. he even tried talking about it to you, but your reply was: "i'm not quite sure, but i can only be grateful about them! they are my friends and i'm truly fortunate for their company!"

when you took his hair down the next day, he went to the mirror and baby had stars in his eyes

he talks about you to all might all the fucking time to the point they both know you better than ya damn self

which is really annoying because all might be wanting them "one on one" talks and it will irk you to talk to him because everything will be "but young midoriya said..."

to be honest, he went to all might for love advice....don’t ever let him do that again. mans was using the most corniest lines but since it was izuku, he got away with- tell me you not cheesing thinking about him saying the "roses are red, violets are blue line" with the cutest blush...im waiting

golden hour, his favorite time of the day

this man will drop everything just to see you at golden hour like when the sun is just starting to set, he will rush into ya dorm room just to watch you

it's like therapy for him to see you relaxing under the setting sun and see your brown skin shining, i just feel like this time would be the time he reminds himself that he is incredibly lucky to have you and will literally do anything to keep you relaxed like this

one: he'll tear up a lot and ask if you're sure or two: he'll blush really fucking hard

as for his giving love, he'll just kinda follow you now until he is told to leave. don’t do that. just don’t.

let him leave on his own, you'll make him feel like he's bothering you otherwise

i would like to think there's always that underlying fact that yes, you can handle yourself, but he also knows just how capable bakugou is and lowkey does not want to risk it

please remind him that you do love him and that he is a good boyfriend with all the hugs, cuddles, and all that other good shit

he loves to write about you in his notes, he has AT LEAST 4 notebooks about everything about you as well as somethings he wish to say to you and a little souvenirs from moments between you two that he found special

he has a special item from the time he figured out that he loved you and wrote down in detail what happened and how he felt about it 

when you find these notebooks, do not, i repeat, DO NOT tell him that you found. just take the damn notebook while you can and run

i think you noticed at first her lil sly ass actions and remarks but don’t give in, let her make a fool of herself and watch her run around in circles

be calm and stay two steps ahead, it will work out in your favor ! and it did !

the next person that noticed was tsu, however, she was on your side about this because she hates petty shit and people so what uraraka was doing was not to her liking at all ! 

the other two, iida and shoto, caught on to it (iida wanting uraraka to at least remain civil and shoto just watching from afar) but deku remained oblivious for a while

he just wanted to be friends with everyone so he kinda just...didn't notice or thought she was mad about something else

i feel like uraraka would get beside herself and start saying reckless ass shit to express her frustration but it would only end up with her getting her ass beat and shunned from the group until she got her act together

you can guess what she said but all imma say is….she really lost her god damn mind and paid the price

what's worse is she really did try to make it seem like you stole from her...but dum dum was the one who didn't speak up? until the very last minute? which...sounds like a personal problem? sssoooooo, stay mad?

everyone in class did figure it out and it was just lowkey sad to see her get so messy but in the end !

32! Mostly Redacted at the moment, but I'm branching out.

2 - What's your total AO3 word count?

116,795... which is way more than I expected tbh

3 - What fandoms do you write for?

It's a bit of a smattering at the moment! Dragon Age and Redacted ASMR are the main ones, though I've been easing out of publishing my Redacted work recently.

I don't have any published angst ending type fics, so the closest I have is Light Untiring, my fic for a Dragon Age reverse big bang.

settle down (with you), my Geordi/Cutie fluff fic!

8 - Do you get hate on fics?

Occasionally, yeah. I find keeping the comments moderated helps a bit though.

9 - Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I write a LOT of smut, lol. I tend to veer towards smut that explores character motivations, but some of it is just filth for filths sake.

10 - Do you write crossovers?

Not really, no. I find the settings impact too crucial to the character's development and compellingness that I probably wouldn't find it appealing.

11 - Have you ever had a fic stolen?

In the past under a previous pseudonym, yes :/

12 - Have you ever had a fic translated?

No, but I think this doesn't happen very often in general. It's mostly a Big Fics reserved honor imo

13 - Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yup! Doesn't happen very often though, since I find it can be hard to mesh writing styles well enough that it isn't jarring to readers.

14 - What's your all time favorite ship?

Hmmm. Honestly Zevran x Warden is an enduring favorite. I have a soft spot for a lot of ships, but that one has endured quite a while now. Honorary mentions to fenders and handers tho I can't lie

15 - What's a WIP that you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Hhhhh, my Nydha Lavellan longfic honestly. I just struggle with motivation and I've improved a lot since the original scrapped wip, so I suspect I'll end up starting it completely over again. Fic planning is hard yall

16 - What are your writing strengths?

I think I'm quite good at characterization, particularly in dialogue!

17 - What are your writing weaknesses?

Actually outlining BEFORE starting the fic properly and writing action scenes

18 - Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I think it's hard to make it sound natural if you don't speak the language, particularly sign languages like ASL and BSL. You can definitely write dialogue in another language but if you're translating things it can take some research and fiddling to make it sound right.

19 - First fandom you wrote for?

It was eons ago now, but probably warrior cats? I wrote fanfic on paper back then though.

20 - Favorite fic you've written?

If I'm defining it as favorite end product, probably Down, Boy, though I just looked at it and realized I need to fix some spacing in there. Oopsies.

In terms of favorite to write, my Nydha Lavellan x Dorian fic was probably the most fun. I think I've really improved as a writer and it's fun to stick in cameos of other friend's OCs too!

“Okay! Let’s see who we’ve got for you next! The sixth match showcases two completely redundant quirks! One is a passionate, manly fighter made of steel! The hero courses class 1-B, Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu! Versus! A passionate, manly fighter made of rock! The hero courses 1-A, Eijiro Kirishima!”

“LET’S GO KIRISHIMA! SHOW THIS GUY WHO’S THE BETTER MAN!” You howled in praise to the boy below. 

Eijiro gave you a thumbs up from his place in the arena before getting into a fighting stance, running forward as the okay to start was given. You leaned back in your seat, turning to look at Izuku when you noticed the empty seat next to him.

“Is Ochaco getting ready for her match?” You asked him.

“O-oh, uh,” He looked startled, as if you were asking him an answer to a pop quiz, “I assume so. She’s been looking kind of down though.. I think she might be worried about having to fight Kaachan.”

“You think so?” You questioned, even though you did believe that was true. 

Even though she was putting on a brave face, you could picture her using it as a front to hide her true feelings. Although you wouldn’t know for sure unless you confronted her.

“It’s possible.. I was thinking of some strategies just now to have Uraraka to best utilize her quick to be able to have a chance to beat him!” He mumbled, flipping through the pages of his burnt notebook.

You could only nod aimlessly as he was whisper-mumbling his plan to you, unsure of when he’d stop. 

“Deku,” You cut him off, hand on his shoulder. “Why don’t we go talk to her? You can tell her all about your plan then and we can provide her some support.” 

Izuku blushed at the feeling of your warm hand on his, and while he would love nothing more than to do exactly that with you, he knew you were excited to see Kirishima’s match. While that thought made his heart heavy for some reason, he knew he wanted to be a good friend and make sure you weren’t going to do something you would regret.

“A-are you sure you want to go? I mean, you would miss Kirishima’s match..” His shoulders slumped.

“Yeah I’m sure,” You smiled, “Eijiro’s got this in the bag! But, even then I’m sure it’ll be awhile. I mean, look at them.” 

You motioned towards the two fighting boys and couldn’t help but laugh.

“They’re so evenly matched it’s scary! They might go on forever at this rate.”

“Well, only if you want to..”

“Of course I want to! I’d like to wish my friend good luck before she starts!” 

“R-right!”

The both of you got up and headed towards the second waiting room, walking in silence all the way.

Comfortable silences often reminded you of your home life. Your father, while very loving, was often not very talkative. It was short and sweet, straight to the point. Blunt almost, but in a good way. It was relaxing and you were glad you were able to share this with Izuku while you could.

Izuku, on the other hand, was feeling a little overwhelmed. Not be the fact you weren’t talking, no, more so at that fact your shoulder kept brushing his and he had no clue what to think. He was acting crazy, he knew, but you were a girl. 

A pretty girl. 

A pretty girl that has warm hands, and a cute smile, and a lovely laugh. A pretty girl who is crazy smart, and has a wild determination, and such strong quirk. A pretty girl with a scary dad as a top pro hero, and you didn’t let that get the better of you. You worked so hard and Izuku couldn’t help but admire you for it. That must be why he felt so nervous around you, yea you were a girl but you were also someone he looked up to. There couldn’t be more to it than that, right?

“Izuku?” You called out to the boy as he continued to walk even after you stopped by the door. 

He turned to face you with a shy smile, rubbing the back of his head.

“Whoops, I uh, was lost in thought!”

“You dork, this is the room right?” You questioned, pointing at the door in front, but not really asking for confirmation as you were already going to head inside.

“Yeah,” Izuku looked at the number and his heart stopped, “Oh wait-”

He was too late, you had already opened the door and walked in.

“Hey-Oh it’s you.” 

You looked at the person in the room and did a double take, mildly shocked. You weren’t expecting to see him here.

“What the hell are you doing here shitty girl?” Bakugou huffed at you, standing up from his stretches to glare as he didn’t appreciate the interruption. 

“Sorry, I thought this was waiting room 2, guess I was wrong!” You laughed, backing out.

“Tch, of course you were wrong dumb ass can’t you read!?” He yelled back.

You ignored his loud shouts as you walked through from where you entered, pausing to look back at him.

“Oh yeah, good luck out there!”

“ I don’t need any luck, I’m going to win dammit!”

“Yeah of course you will, shitty boy.” 

“WHAT THE HELL DID YOU JUST SAY!?” 

You closed the door with a snicker, looking at Izuku who was waiting awkwardly off towards the side.

“Sorry, did you want to say something to him too?” 

“N-no, Kaachan wouldn’t like at all.” Izuku sighed.

You grabbed the boys wrist and dragged him quickly along, hoping that you’d get there soon without any more delays.

“He’s a big baby, don’t worry about him. We need to hurry up and get to Ochaco!”

Izuku felt his face heat up at your gentle grip. It was funny, your hands were so soft yet still so rough. Most likely due to your quirk, having light wrap around your hands must not be all that great for keeping them smooth, but that didn’t bother him in the slightest. 

All he could do was nod dumbly as he let you pull him around, and couldn’t help but think he wouldn’t mind it if you were always pulling him around like this. Especially if your hand were to be in his instead-

He shook his head of all thoughts as you let go, stopping in front of the correct door this time and opening it. He spotted Uraraka at the table and Iida standing right next to her.

“Hey Ochaco.” you greeted, walking in and standing next to Iida. Who you also greeted once you saw him. 

Izuku followed you inside making sure to close the door behind you both and stood right next to you.

“Deku? (y/n)? Why aren’t you guys watching the matches?” Uraraka questioned, a surprised look on her face.

“Well Eijiro’s match is probably going to take a while.” You shrugged.

“And most of them ended how I expected them to, so we figured it was alright to not have to watch the whole thing.” Izuku added.

“We also wanted to wish you luck, how are you feeling?”

“Well this is it, I’m next,” She looked at the table as she squeezed her hands together, “my fight is up.”

“I think you’ll be fine! There is no way Bakugou would use the full power of his explosions on a girl.” 

You looked at Iida strangely.

“Why wouldn’t he? Everyone is the same to him, just another person getting in his way. Gender doesn’t matter.”

“She’s right, he definitely wouldn’t care. Everyone is trying to get the top, that includes him.” Izuku agreed with you, a serious look on his face.

“Plus, I accidentally saw him just now, and he looked determined as ever.”

Uraraka made a squeal and you put your hand atop hers.

“You’ll be great no matter what, there’s no need to worry.”

She gave you a look that seemed as if she was trying to smile, but it came out as more of a grimace. 

“Listen,” You gave her hand a light squeeze, “my dad told me something like this; the moments you feel this way, unsure or nervous, are the reasons why you have to go for it. You’ll win no matter what, whether you win the match or win the ability to grow and persevere. He said, ‘Let your fear turn into your driving factor, give yourself a reason to fight.’! Because no matter what, we’re all here for you, cheering you on!” You grinned at her, relieved when she smiled a true smile as well.

“You’re right-well, you’re dad’s right too! I know it, it’s just..” She sighed once more as she took her hands from under yours to twirl her fingers together.

“W-well maybe I can help!” Deku chimed in, holding his notebook up for the room to see, “I have a plan on how you can use your quirk to beat Kaachan. It’s not much, but it was the best I could come up with.”

“Hey! Well alright, this is perfect! There’s no way you can lose from a plan from Midoriya!” Iida gave a thumbs up, a dorky grin on his face.

It was almost unnerving to see such a smile, but you had to say it was a nice change.

“Thank you for doing that for me Deku, but no thanks, sorry.”

“Huh?” The boys, and you, made a noise of shock.

“You’re wonderful Deku.. I see that, over and over again. I know that during the cavalry battle I said it was good to team up with friends, but I might have just been relying on you too much. Which is why when the others said they were trying their best to beat you, I felt kind of embarrassed for myself..”

“Uraraka.” Deku whispered, unsure of what to do at such a confession.

You felt the same way, feeling awkward and a little bothered by the words she said, but you pushed it down and just moved out of the way as she strode past you all, heading towards the door.

“So it’s really fine you guys. Everyone is facing their future and giving this their best, that means we’re all rivals. Iida, (y/n).. Even you and me Deku. So, guess I’ll see you in the finals.”

She was shaking, and it wasn’t hard to spot the wavering and almost fake grin on her face. She was nervous, and she had every right to be, but as long as she was facing her challenges you couldn’t ask for anything more for her.

“While we’re waiting for Tetsutetsu and Kirishima to recover, why don’t we move on to the next match?”

“Well then good luck! You’ll win this for sure!” You grinned enthusiastically, hoping a bright smile would help. 

She only nodded back before leaving you three in the waiting room alone. You looked at the boys who shared a worried look with you.

“We shouldn’t worry, Ochaco is smart. She can handle whatever Bakugou throws at her.”

“Yes, we should believe in her capabilities in this situation.” Iida agreed, sighing out as he also followed the path out the door. 

“Well, we should get going back to the seats.” Izuku muttered.

The three of you went back to the stands, taking your seats in the front row once more as the two walked onto the arena.

“The 8th and final battle in the first round of matches! He’s kind of a hotshot, and just look at that determined face! From 1-A’s hero course, it’s Katsuki Bakugou! Versus! The underdog here, also from 1-A’s hero course, Ochaco Uraraka! Let the 8th match begin!”

The match was the most interesting fight you watched so far, the way they attacked each other at full force was a sight no one wanted to miss. You always new Bakugou was a skilled fighter, he always has been. But Uraraka wasn’t backing down. She ran head first for him, sort of following the plan Izuku had thought of even if she hadn’t heard it herself. But as soon as she went to touch her, he blasted her back.

The rest of the match didn’t let up on the excitement, there were plenty of moments were it looked like Ochaco was going to get the upper hand and come out on top, Bakugou’s relentless attacks didn’t allow it. However, the crowd began to boo him for it, and you felt yourself grow angry. Didn’t they see what was going on? Couldn’t they tell he wasn’t fooling around, that he was proving he saw her as an actual threat? 

Also, couldn’t they see what was floating right over their heads?

“The crowd is booing Bakugou!”

“Who was the man that started this uproar? Are you a pro? Because if you’re being serious, you can go home and hang up that cape. I’d suggest looking for a different career.”

“Anyone know what he’s talking about?” Izuku asked.

“Are you kidding me?” You questioned in disbelief, “Do you not see it either? Bakugou isn’t being rough to toy with her, he’s acknowledging Ochaco. Plus, look up idiots.”

“Bakugou’s fierceness is an acknowledgement of his opponents strength. He knows that she is deserving of getting this far. So, he’s doing whatever it takes to keep her at bay and make it out on top.”

The boys did as you said and gasped at the sight of the cement floating above, what seemed to be hundreds of them. She quickly released them and as soon as she did, Bakugou aimed for the sky and blew them away. The blast was so large you felt the pressured air from it, making your hair blow behind you harshly. 

“Bakugou shows a huge demonstration of power! He blasted Uraraka’s finishing move away and remains unscratched!” 

You saw how she froze in mid turn, falling down from the exhaustion. You felt bad, knowing how upset she would be. But you were proud of her nonetheless. She fought well and she shouldn’t be ashamed of it.

“She’s reached her limit.”

“Yeah, it was too much.”

“Uraraka is K.O’d. Bakugou advances to the second round.” Midnight announced, after walking to check on her.

“And that’s it for the first rounds! We’re taking a quick break then we are back for more matches!”

growing up, you were used to being underestimated by others. fortunately, you could always prove them wrong and shock them with how powerful your quirk could be. after acting blindingly arrogant, they’d praise and encourage you to train to become a hero. you never listened to them.

you didn’t think that your abilities were right for hero work. one would think that you would be more motivated to use your powers to help others. however, you were born with a misconception created by others. mistreated for your supposed fragility and weakness, you decided that you didn’t owe anyone and that you would do what you thought was right in your own way. 

the hero society is a scandal. the system is flawed. this world was made for people to compare themselves to others or to bully and belittle them because they think they’re stronger. those people think they can become heroes and the system allows it. you knew someone like that. 

he wanted to be the new top hero only for the satisfaction of being the best. however, his attitude did not align with typical heroic values. he was belligerent, arrogant, and oozing with pride. he preyed on the weak and normally wouldn’t waste his time on them. 

but then there would be no one to save and that’s the main reason why you haven’t killed him...yet.

you’re not a hero nor a villain. you didn’t care about labels but the last thing you wanted to be referred to as was a vigilante. it was hard to understand because, for the most part, they usually have the squeaky clean morals of a top hero. it was just the fact that they were illegally using their quirks that set them apart. 

either way, you didn’t fit into anything. you didn’t kill to pose a threat but rather to rid the shady scum in hopes of making the world a little less toxic. unfortunately, some of that scum was right under the top ranks of the heroes, and the hero safety commission or whatever didn’t seem to care. 

you were currently trying to find a villain in particular, hoping to mediate his cause. 

unfortunately, you had to run into trouble in the alley.

“hey, sand thrower! get BACK HERE,” he yelled.

an explosion followed after that, confirming that it was none other than katsuki bakugo. it wasn’t the worst case but he definitely was annoying to deal with. 

“oh, hello, katsuki,” you smiled sweetly. “what brings you here?”

“don’t call me that! i am lord explosion murder: dynamight to you.”

“that’s cute...and tacky,” you taunted.

“i don’t have time for your stupid nonsense. i didn’t plan this but since you’re here we still have to settle the score from the other day,” he explained. 

“well, that’s too bad because i’m busy,” you declined.

“what could your useless, sandy dumbass be doing that’s so important?”

“i guess you’re not really a hero if you have the time to fight with a useless, sandy dumbass like me,” you retorted. 

“HEY. DON’T USE MY OWN WORDS AGAINST ME,” he yelled before pointing his gauntlet at you. “AP SHOT!”

he began shooting at you using his gauntlets. you reacted quickly, manipulating the sand in your bag to detonate the small explosives in the air. before he could get another opening, you changed the sand into a signature whip shape and were able to capture him, his arms pinned to his sides. 

you let him hit the ground, which made him sputter and cough from the impact and possibly sand that got in his mouth. 

“yeah, sorry. it doesn’t taste good. that’s why i wear this mask,” you pointed to the guard in front of your face. “anyway, i win.”

“shut up! that was not a win, you sand blowing idiot. now get me out of this,” he struggled against your sand to which you tightened the hold on him. 

“i wouldn’t do that either unless you want chafing and sand in that bulky outfit of yours. now, i need to ask you something.”

“why would i ever tell you anything, you useless piece of sand crap!”

suddenly the wind was knocked out of him as he was slammed against the wall. his eyes widened upon seeing you much closer to him now, your eyes mere inches away from his. 

“you have very pretty eyes, katsuki,” you complimented.

“what are you doing, you sanMpH--”

your free hand lifted up his chin before gripping his jaw, prying his mouth open. above him was another cloud of sand at the ready.

“don’t make me use the waterfall, katsuki,” you threatened. “like i said, sand doesn’t taste good so imagine how it’s gonna taste when there’s an abundance of it in your mouth and continuing to flow.”

he shook his face out of your grip. “okay. hurry up and ask your stupid question.”

you smirked. “good boy.”

you released him from your sand trap, knowing that he wouldn’t try anything again. he grimaced as he dusted the excess sand from his clothes and hair. 

“are you gonna ask or are you just gonna stand there?” he pressed, annoyed by your amused expression.

“so katsuki,” you addressed as you paced around the small space. “what can you tell me about the league of villains?”

Unlike most, you were dreading the day you met your soulmate. You lived in a world in which people wore their soulmarks proudly, and it wasn’t uncommon to find bright marks dotting people’s faces, arms, necks, collarbones. Your mother had a soulmark on her right shoulder, which matched your father’s marks on the tips of his left fingers. You always found her wearing clothes that displayed the dark handprint (dark once it had been touched), never wanting to cover it up.

You, on the other hand, didn’t like people to see your soulmark. Because instead of a handprint on your shoulder, a mark on your hands that you’ve shook, or a brush on your arm where you bump into each other on the street, you had a very different soulmark. Just above your hips, on the sides of your waist, were two big handprints, grabbing you from behind.

You didn’t exactly know the context of when or where or under what circumstances your soulmate would grab you by the hips, but you also weren’t stupid, and the only guesses you could come up with involved your soulmate being some kind of perv. So no, you weren’t looking forward to meeting them.

And it wouldn’t be until you met them that you changed your mind.

You weren’t expecting it to be such a lively day when you woke up that morning, deciding real quick to take a last minute trip to the grocery store before your friends came for dinner that afternoon. It was a pretty mundane morning, to be quite honest, and the most out-of-the-ordinary thing you did was deciding to have a bowl of cereal instead of just your daily cup of coffee for breakfast.

It was sunny out (that was a nice change from the rain you’d been stuck in all week), so you had no problem walking the fifteen minutes or so to the store. It was a decision you made when you were about halfway there that, looking back, may have not been the best choice.

The streets were crowded - it appeared everyone had the same idea as you - and you were becoming uncomfortable with the massive groups. You saw a smaller street ahead, one you recognized from when you had lived in the area as a child, and decided to take a little shortcut (it could hardly be called a shortcut, about ten minutes out of the way).

As you turned onto the street, you realized it had changed a lot over the years. The houses that had once housed families with children your age looked abandoned, and the overgrowth of trees on the sides of the road blocked a lot of the sunlight.

You weren’t even halfway down the road when you decided you were going to turn back.

But when you spun around, quickly, before you could change your mind, you were met face to face with a man you hadn’t realized was right behind you.

There was a flash of pain, and you felt the man’s body connecting with yours. You were tackled off the street, and found yourself on the ground, rubbing your elbows where you had fallen on them. The man had leapt back, and he was facing you with a menacing grin on his face. You struggled to stand, facing the man, who, now that you looked at him, in his strange suit and mask hanging from his face, you realized was a villain.

You were frozen to the spot, unable to move as the villain stared you down. Unfortunately for you, the villain had tackled you into a dark alley, and since you hadn’t been on the main street anyway, you were worried that no one would see you, and no one would come to your rescue. But no matter how much you knew in that moment that your fate rested in your hands, you simply could not move, rooted to the spot by an intense fear sweeping over you.

But your theory about not being seen must have been wrong, for seconds later, you heard a pair of sweeping wings flying over you. You hoped and prayed it was a hero, or a helpful civilian, and not another villain, but based on the man in front of you’s reaction, it wasn’t someone he liked.

The villain lashed out with his quirk, and a pair of steel bars came flying at you. But you heard one more sweep of the wings, and a pair of arms grabbed your waist and flew you out of the way just before the bars could impale your chest.

Despite the circumstances, and your racing heart, your attention immediately went to the hands on your waist, which seemed to be radiating some sort of warmth, a warmth that spread through your entire body. And even as the hands left your waist to wrap around your body, lifting you from the ground to get you further away from the scene, the warmth never left, sending an unexpected sort of comfort with you as you and your savior took to the skies.

You had never liked heights, but it was over in an instant, and you were set onto solid ground (or so you thought, you were a little dizzy from the flight) within seconds. The arms left, and you jumped away, turning to finally get a good look at the person who had saved your life.

You certainly weren’t expected to see the number two pro hero Hawks, with his red wings spreading behind him, his mouth open and his eyes wide with shock.

But a sudden breeze blew over you, stronger than you were used to, and your attention was momentarily brought to your surroundings.

“Are we on a roof?” you asked incredulously, looking around you.

Your words seemed to break the hero in front of you out of his trance, and he frantically began tearing his black gloves off, looking at his hands in amazement. His gaze then shifted to you, and in the time you took to blink, he was right there, holding your waist as he pulled you closer.

“What are you doing?” But Hawks didn’t listen, and he was currently pulling your shirt up, which happened to be tucked into your jeans. Before you could try and push him off, your soulmarks were revealed, and while the wind on your bare skin was biting, as the man, now behind you, fit his fingers over the marks on your skin, where they fit perfectly, a warmth like before spread through you.

The marks had turned black in the time it had taken you to fly to the roof.

His hands were lifted from your skin, and then he was turning you around to face him. But you could only stare into his golden eyes with the same look he had given you before, your mouth hanging open in shock.

He looked more composed, and a sly sort of grin crossed his face as he narrowed his eyes at you. It was all consuming, his gaze, and you felt your breath knocked from your lungs as you couldn’t look away.

His smile never faded, even as he talked, and his eyes were glued to yours, permanently, it seemed. You were way too close for you to focus. “I have a feeling by the look on your face that you know who I am, little dove,” he said, the first words he spoke to you, his voice unexpectedly deep and husky. “But as much as I regret having to say this, I do not know you. Care to introduce yourself to me?”

You realized you couldn’t speak. But as Hawks looked at you expectantly, you cleared your throat. “I-I’m y/n.”

His smile grew wider, if at all possible. “What a lovely name, y/n. I do believe we are soulmates.” You realized suddenly that his arms were still at your sides.

“Don’t you have a patrol to be doing?” you asked nervously, feeling breathless as you felt the distance between your bodies closing, every so slowly.

“I would say that I have a pretty good excuse. It’s not every day you meet the person you’re going to spend the rest of your life with.”
