Used BMW X3 Maintenance: These 9 pro tips which no one is talking about — Wheelyfine
The BMW X3 is a luxury SUV launched in 2018 in the Indian market by the German giant. It is available in diesel and petrol engines, both having a displacement of 2000cc. Refreshing design and new cabin features make the X3 a favorite among luxury SUV lovers.
Second hand BMW X3 has a high demand in the Indian market owing to its ruggedness and long life. BMW has established a wide network of service centers and dealerships, making it one of India’s most bought luxury car brands.
The longevity of any vehicle is determined by regular maintenance and judicious use. Although BMW is known for its robust design, it is still important to follow careful maintenance techniques to get the maximum out of your vehicle. Here, we will cover pro tips for used BMW X3 maintenance:
The Maintenance Cost of BMW X3
The maintenance cost of the BMW X3 depends a lot on the handling by the previous owner and the time period elapsed from the date of purchase of the new vehicle. A properly serviced vehicle means that the maintenance costs will remain affordable for a longer period. The estimated annual cost of maintenance for this particular SUV amounts to up to INR 57,000 for a diesel variant and INR 42,000 for the petrol variant in India. This cost is estimated over a period of 3 years from the first purchase.
It must be kept in mind that with respect to time, the cost naturally goes up. It is ideal to buy a used BMW X3, driven from 40,000km to 60,000km. That way, the warranty period remains still applicable, and you can adjust the initial costs of maintenance accordingly.
BMW X3 engine treatment and components to use (like best engine oil for petrol/diesel engines, valve steam oil, etc)
The purpose of ideal engine oil is to form a protective layer over the engine’s internal components and protect them from wear and tear while improving overall efficiency. The oil filter ensures that the engine oil remains in top-notch condition and without impurities over a long period.
The recommended oil change for a BMW X3 is every 10,000km or 12 months, whichever is earlier. The fuel filters must be changed every 55,000km, while you must change the engine coolant along with the engine oil. The typical specification for the most suitable engine oil is 5W-30 high-performance synthetic oil across all engine configurations. The Helix Ultra ECT 5W-30 engine oil matches the requirements for a BMW X3.

How to avoid BMW X3 starting issue after a long time
The X3 is one of the most reliable luxury vehicles available in the market. Still, like any machine, it requires regular check-ups and repairs to ensure all the interconnected parts are in prime working condition. Prolonged usage or non-usage can cause the engine of X3 to cause starting troubles, which can be avoided by doing these things:
The Battery terminals must be kept free of corrosion at all times.
You must check the starter motor regularly for the misalignment of gears.
Inspecting the alternator after nearly 2, 00,000 km. An alternator recharges the battery on the go, and you must check it for faults after prolonged use.
Inspect the fuel filter if the car has not been used for a long time. A clogged fuel filter can reduce fuel efficiency as well as cause starting problems.
Check the spark plug connections regularly to ensure proper ignition.
You must check all fuses and relays regularly for faults. A blown fuse or faulty relay can cause starting problems.
If the car is parked outside in cold weather, there can be a starting problem. It can be avoided by checking the battery first and cranking the engine several times before starting.
BMW X3 AC compressor maintenance
Air conditioning is the primary luxury element of any automobile these days. Using and maintaining a car AC can be troublesome if small problems are ignored for a long time. With small regular checks and repairs, you can avoid any major damage. You can follow some handy tips for maintaining the X3 air conditioning system:
Checking and replacing a dirty Cabin air filter in time can reduce damages drastically. Ideally, the cabin air filter should be changed after every 20,000km driven.
Cleaning a clogged condenser can help improve the efficiency of the car AC and reduce maintenance costs.
A refrigerant leak is the most common problem faced by all car owners. Small components like sealant rings must be checked and replaced regularly to avoid leakages.
You must check the blower motor for proper functioning to maintain optimum airflow and cooling. You cannot repair a faulty blower motor.
The compressor clutch must be properly inspected and lubricated regularly to ensure the smooth functioning of the AC.
Can we upgrade or replace an old X3 AC compressor with a new one?
The compressor is the most important and most expensive component of any car air conditioning system. The internal moving parts of the air compressor can fail at times, and metal debris might enter the circulation system. Leakages can occur in a faulty system due to faulty seals and lead to damage to the compressor. It must be noted that the seals in the AC compressor cannot be repaired once damaged.
While upgrading an AC compressor in an old X3 is not recommended, it can be replaced with a new one. Upgrading is not recommended because of compatibility issues and hardware problems. The cost of replacement of the X3 compressor can go up to INR 69,000.

BMW X3 chassis maintenance, mud flaps maintenance, and bumper maintenance tactics:
The BMW X3 consoles has a built system check which triggers a warning when any component is not working optimally. Chassis stabilization error comes up when there’s either an alternator fault or the engine suddenly starts limping. The underbody or chassis holds the drivetrain, axle and wheels, and various other components important for the car’s functioning.
Likewise, mud flaps are also important body components as they prevent the dirt off the road from getting into the braking mechanism of the wheels and engine compartment. The front and rear bumper protect the internal metallic lining of the chassis and the engine compartment from three sides.
These body parts must be checked and maintained regularly for a stable ride. Chassis maintenance includes checking the axle alignment, looking for damages and repairing after a bumpy ride, checking for leakages in the shockers and engine mounting.

2019 Cadillac XT4 Release Date
2019 Cadillac XT4
  2019 Cadillac XT4
2019 Cadillac XT4 Review – Cadillac has finally removed the veil of the XT4 2019, it’s new small crossover. While it shows some clear influences of the larger XT5, it is surprisingly unique in its details. The smallest Cadillac crossover to date, the XT4 rolls on a new platform and uses a new small displacement motor. While the larger XT5 is a replacement of the dated SRX and is targeting the mid-sized luxury crossover market, the XT4 is actually a completely new entry. And it’s no wonder that Cadillac wants a part of the compact market because that’s where many automakers make big profits.
In 2018, Cadillac launched the XT4, an even smaller crossover that competes with the BMW X3, the Audi Q5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC. Stained tests on public roads since the beginning of 2017.

    2019 Cadillac XT4 Exterior
The 2019 Cadillac XT4 stands out even more next to the Cadillac XT5 seen from the side. While the XT5 claims this specific elegance of Cadillac thanks to its chrome finish, the XT4 has a more sober appearance. It also lacks an adequate quarter window, a feature that is not very common in crosses of this size. But simple is not necessarily trivial. Despite the sensible aspect, the 2019 Cadillac XT4 feels more sporty, a feat if necessary against the BMW X3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC.
The rear also combines XT5 and new design features. The tailgate and the bumper are reminiscent of the large SUV, but the taillights are brand new. Although similar to the Escalade, where they are mounted on the D-pillars, the LED taillights also extend a bit in the tailgate. Once again, there is no chrome on the rear dashboard, which also places the XT4 in the Cadillac range.
Like CT6 facelifted, the XT4 introduces the company’s new “Y” adjustment strategy, which adds distinctive styling characteristics to each model. Three different lines are available, Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport. The XT4 Sport features a shiny black mesh grille inspired by Cadillac’s high-performance V-Series models (pictured above), shiny black window frames and unique alloy wheels. On the other hand, the Luxury and Premium Luxury models feature bright grilles with metal accents, satin aluminum window moldings and satin chrome door handles. The taillights are housed in traditional red lenses in luxury and luxury, while the sporty model has clear and tinted lenses.
  2019 Cadillac XT4 Interior
The cabin has some familiar features, but it has enough design elements to stand out from the crowd. And it goes without saying that it seems to be very high technology for such a small vehicle. The board is the first detail that attracts attention, especially because it has a multi-level design, a novelty for a Caddy. The centerpiece contains the new eight-inch infotainment screen in the center, with several controls underneath. These extend horizontally instead of being organized vertically or as a square group, another feature that is not seen in many modern vehicles. The lower fascia includes horizontal A / C vents in the corners, which are lower than in most vehicles. The black border completes the passenger’s board just above the glove box.
  2019 Cadillac XT4 Interior
Sport seats with side fill are also dressed in leather and can be optional with a massage function. White ambient light is also available. On the technology side, there is a new infotainment system with an operation similar to that of a smartphone and an intuitive interface. It offers a faster response and comes with enhanced speech recognition that can be updated over time. The new rotary controller in the center console includes volume and looks for front / rear controls for the audio system, shortcut buttons for quick access to applications and a large center wheel for key functions. Four USB ports and a 15-watt wireless charging cradle are included in the standard package.
  2019 Cadillac XT4 Engine
Like the XT5, which uses a 3.6-liter V6 engine, the XT4 comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood. The turbocharged unit is completely new and uses active fuel management or cylinder deactivation to provide the best fuel economy you can get from a Cadillac. And it’s also very powerful, providing 237 horsepower and 258 foot-pounds of torque. These figures put it on a par with the basic models of the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC in the United States. While the X3 xDrive30i is developing 248 horsepower, the GLC300 comes with 241 horsepower in pressure.
The XT4 engine is combined with a nine-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system decoupled. A dual clutch is available as an option, as is the active sports suspension, which features a continuous damping control with electronic sensors that monitor the road in real time and perform damping adjustments every two milliseconds. The XT4 is also the first Cadillac to use electrohydraulic braking assistance, which improves fuel economy and takes up less space under the hood than the traditional vacuum-assisted braking system. Specific on fuel economy, Cadillac says that the XT4 will again have up to 30 mpg.
2019 Cadillac XT4 prices and Release Date
The price of the XT4 starts at $ 35,790, including the destination rates, but does not include taxes, title, license, dealership fees and optional equipment. This sticker makes it significantly more affordable than the competition. The BMW X3, for example, sells for $ 42,650, while the Mercedes-Benz GLC sells for $ 40,050. The Audi Q5 is also significantly more expensive at $ 41,500 before the options.
Interestingly, the XT4 is also a bit more affordable than the small BMW X2, which is selling from $ 36,400. The Caddy is also just a couple of bigger more expensive than the small BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA. While the XT4 seems a bit smaller than the X3, it is also larger than the X1, so I think Cadillac has a very good price position.

2019 Infiniti QX50 Essential AWD Four Seasons Introduction
In what can be considered a sign of the times Infiniti now offers more crossovers than cars in America. Nissan’s luxury arm, which has been up and running for close to 30 years here, jumped into the SUV game more than 20 years ago with the Pathfinder-based QX4. Since then, the marque has had its share of interesting models, most notably the super fast V-8 powered FX45 with its “bionic-cheetah” stance.
Today, though there are sadly no longer any cheetah-based models to be had, the Infiniti lineup consists of several solid, competitive crossovers and even an old-school SUV designed to meet all your haute hauling needs, with sizes ranging from a compact hatch (QX30) to a body-on-frame, XXL beast (QX80). We recently wrapped up a year with a QX30 Sport sprayed in Infiniti’s polarizing pinkish-metallic hue, and we greatly enjoyed our trouble-free time with it. But given that the QX30 is a Mercedes-Nissan mashup, we wanted to see what Infiniti has been up to on its own. So as one of the latest additions to our Four Seasons fleet, we chose the thoroughly updated second-generation 2019 Infiniti QX50. It’s a model that in many ways is serving as a vanguard vehicle for Infiniti, and it all starts with what’s under the hood.
Arguably the biggest reason why the QX50 piqued our interest (or, to use senior editor and techno-geek Nelson Ireson’s words, has us freaking excited) is that it’s the first vehicle to employ Nissan/Infiniti’s new VC-Turbo engine. VC stands for Variable Compression, and it uses a complex mechanical linkage that alters each piston’s stroke length while the engine is running. Boot the throttle and the stroke lengthens, lowering the compression ratio to 8:1; ease off the gas and the stroke shortens, increasing the compression ratio to as high as 14:1 and (supposedly) maximizing economy. In an age where most technological updates are software related, it’s cool to see something so novel and mechanical make it to market. We wanted to understand how well it works—and, more importantly, if it holds up to a year’s worth of spirited thrashing.
The VC-Turbo delivers 268 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque from just 2.0 liters (give or take, depending on what the variable-compression system is doing), and is paired with a continuously-variable transmission (CVT). We’ve never been big fans of CVTs, but they continue to improve and were eager to find out how well it meshes with the new engine.
As far as the trim level goes, we opted for the top-of-the-line QX50 Essential AWD model, and we didn’t stop there. The just-shy-of-$60k price tag includes nearly $13,500 worth of options, the biggest of which is the $7,500 Sensory Package. It bundles up a sensory overload of features, including a 16-speaker Bose stereo system, power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, 20-inch rims, and special cube LED headlights—some 19 different upgrades in all.
Then there are the Pro packages, the $2,000 ProActive and $550 ProAssist, with the operative words being Active and Assist. The ProActive package features ProPilot Assist (not to be confused with the ProAssist package), a combination of adaptive cruise and lane guidance that essentially lets the QX50 kinda-sorta drive itself (though unlike older iterations found in the Q50 and Q60, the QX50 requires a hand on the wheel). ProPilot Assist can also apply the brakes when cruise is not engaged. The system serves as an electronic co-pilot of sorts that senior editor Aaron Gold has dubbed the QX50’s “force field.” Checking the ProActive box also nets you Infiniti’s “steer-by-wire” Direct Adaptive Steering system, a head up display, and lane departure and blind spot warning features. The ProAssist package’s primary systems are rear cross traffic and backup collision safety nannies.
Also worthy of note is the $2,000 Autograph Package, an interior design bundle that the Infiniti press pack likens to a tropical vacation: “The rich chocolate brown replicates wood applications in the resort and the surrounding trees, followed by a creamy off-white representing the sand on the beach. The highlights of a cooler dark navy blue on the center console, reminiscent of the ocean water, strike the proper balance between warm and cool, creating a comfortable yet invigorating environment.” Marketing-speak aside, we’re most concerned with how those off-white quilted leather seats will hold up to normal wear and tear and the occasional kid and dog.
We’re also curious to get more reaction from the staff about the wild combination of the seats with the brown leather and blue suede on the dash and center stack. Editor-in-chief Mike Floyd for one digs the QX50’s digs: “I love this color and materials combination, it’s one of the more interesting interior executions I’ve seen in a long time.”
Almost as soon as it arrived, senior editor Gold swiped the QX50 for a drive from L.A. to Phoenix and back. “I didn’t like this thing much when I first reviewed it,” he wrote in the logbook. “To me, it seemed like a shadow of the old QX50/EX35. But the more I drive our Four Seasons car, the more I like it. No, let me put that a different way—the more I drive everything else, the more I like the QX50. I’ve recently spent time in Jag’s F- and E-Pace, BMW X3, Volvo XC60, and a well-heeled Range Rover Supercharged LWB. The QX50 compares favorably to all: It drives well, it’s quiet, it’s solidly built, and it’s supremely comfortable.”
Gold also noted that his stepmother’s poodle, Bounty, spent the hour-long drive from Sun City West to Mesa licking the blue suede on the center console. “Maybe he’s an Elvis fan,” Gold surmised. (Ewwww, we don’t care who he’s a fan of, please get that dog slobber cleaned off the suede, pronto.) As for the QX50’s interior room, so far it seems more than adequate for a midsize, two-row crossover in its segment, and it looks as though rear seat occupants won’t be doing any complaining. When carrying stuff is required, its 60/40 split rear seats easily plop down and fold flat at the pull of a tab from the cargo area to open up 64.4 cu-ft of space with them down (31.1 cubes with them up). Further amplifying the openness of the cabin is a massive panoramic and sliding tinted glass moonroof.
According to the EPA, the 2019 QX50 gets an estimated 24/30 mpg city/highway with a combined estimate of 26 mpg. So far we’ve only averaged 21.8 mpg, but it’s early days yet and we hope the QX50 will prove more efficient as we pile on the miles. Given that one of the supposed benefits of the VC engine is to better take advantage of situations where fuel can be saved, we sort of expect it quite frankly, even from a four-cylinder powertrain pulling around a not insignificant 3,857 lb.
Will the QX50 win our hearts like our last Four Seasons Infiniti? Will the VC engine be everything it’s compressed, er, cracked up, to be? Will more dogs like to lick the blue suede? Watch this space for more adventures and updates to come.

One Week With: 2018 Volvo XC60 T6 AWD R-Design
I hadn’t spent much time in Volvo’s most-recent wares until this past fall, when I had the chance to sample the Volvo V90 station wagon. It is no secret that Volvo is well known for its emphasis on safety, but the Swedish automaker has also been stepping it up in terms of design, both inside and out, impressing with stylish sheetmetal and elegant interiors.
Take the 2018 Volvo XC60 T6 AWD R-Design I lived with for a week, which considerably expanded my Volvo horizon. This example of the second-generation SUV was particularly alluring thanks to its Bursting Blue Metallic color and metal mesh aluminum side mirrors.
The R-Design package, a $3,300 option, adds a multitude of features that spice up the Volvo XC60’s appearance. These include LED fog lights, sporty leather upholstery, metal mesh aluminum deco inlays, illuminated door handles, black headliner, integrated tailpipes with a body-colored lower insert, and a black mesh grille. Other neat features with this trim level are the drive mode settings, Sensus Navigation Pro, a hands-free opening tailgate, and steering wheel paddle shifters. Our tester also came fitted with the optional 21-inch double spoke alloy wheels sporting Pirelli 255/40/R21 summer tires—all for a measly $1,000.
Exploring the Volvo XC60 R-Design’s infotainment system—a far better alternative to zoning out into a smartphone screen—lead me to peruse the additional integrated apps that it contains along with the climate, nav, and entertainment controls. These include Pandora, Yelp, Google Search, Park and Pay, Spotify, and WikiLocations, the last of which sparked my curiosity.
WikiLocations allows you to access Wikipedia-related content of nearby places based either on the geographic position of your vehicle or a set destination. When you conduct a search you are given the options of a full article, summary, photography, and history of a point of interest. WikiLocations is only functional if the car is equipped with both Sensus Connect and Sensus Navigation. Though I felt enlightened by the WikiLocations app, in the age of smartphones, it seems outmoded. Still, kudos to Volvo for including this awesome geo-location app.
Another option on our test car that considerably added to our enjoyment of it is the excellent Bowers & Wilkins sound system, a $3,200 option, which offers adjustable equalizer settings as well as the usual tone adjustements.
To test the system, I created a playlist that I titled Swedish Volvo Soundtrack and signed into my Spotify account via the in-car app—my first time using an in-car Spotify app. With Spotify being a Swedish company as well, and me being an avid listener of Swedish artists, the Swedish Volvo Soundtrack featured only Swedish artists like such as The Knife, Little Dragon, Lykke Li, and Fever Ray. As a hip-hop artist would say, “All Swedish Everything.”
The quality of audio from factory sound systems is an important attribute of a car’s interior. The driver seat is a space in which I spend a good chunk of my life and lousy audio gets annoying quickly. Using the Volvo’s available equalizer settings, I was able to adjust more than just the bass and treble, resulting in a more robust sound. While searching around online, I found a lengthy thread dedicated to the B&W’s equalizer settings in a forum called SwedeSpeed. After putting the Bowers & Wilkins sound system to the test I agree with other Volvo enthusiasts that dishing out the cash for this upgrade is justified.
I drove mostly in Dynamic mode because why not. The Volvo XC60 T6 R-Design has a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine capable of 316 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque and, when set into Dynamic, the crossover thrusts forward with far greater response, especially on the highway. The Oncoming Lane Mitigation system felt a tad bit sensitive, occasionally flashing a warning while driving past parked cars or approaching a car waiting at the median to turn left. When this avoidance collision system activated unnecessarily, I reacted as if something was actually about to happen. This was the only qualm I had with the XC60’s safety features.
The XC60’s automatic braking system seemed ideal for all driving situations and proved its worth during my time with the car. When another driver in cross traffic blasted through a red light—not an uncommon occurrence in Los Angeles—the driver in front of me came to a sudden stop. I nervously punched the brakes as hard as I could but thankfully, the Volvo’s automatic braking system was active and aided me in safely bringing the XC60 to a complete stop. Phew. The auto-hold system proved itself useful, too, making life easier in grueling Interstate 5 traffic en route to San Ysidro, the closest city to the Mexican border.
Opting for a base model Volvo XC60 with no added options puts you at roughly $45,895 with destination fee—not a bad deal for the budget concerned. But if I were making the commitment to purchase this luxury compact SUV I’d be in favor of adding a few options specifically the R-Design package. The XC60’s competitors in similar price range include the BMW X3 and Audi SQ5 both, which I’ve had the opportunity to drive. Though the Audi SQ5impressed me with its extra horsepower, I still prefer the Volvo because it feels more like a true SUV.

BMW X4 2019
The new coupe-like crossover BMW X4 is officially launched on February 14, 2018. The world premiere of the 2nd generation of the Bavarian crossover BMW X4 will be held within the framework of the Geneva Motor Show, opening its doors for visitors in mid-March this year. We offer our readers an overview of the new BMW X4 2018-2019 with photos and videos, the price and specifications, the technical characteristics of the new brother of the new BMW X3. Sales of the new generation of the X4 crossover from BMW AG in the world market (the main markets for North America, Europe, Russia and China) will start in June 2018 at a price of 49700 euros for the basic version of the new BMW X4 xDrive20i with 184-horsepower gasoline engine. The BMW plant in the American city of Spartanburg (Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA) will be engaged in the production of a new generation of BMW X4 at the end of March 2018.
EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR DESIGN
EXTERIOR
Despite the fact that the Bavarian company does not update the design of its cars for a long period, the X4 version has a modern and new design. Its key features are the following:
The front part of the crossover is decorated in a classic BMW style: a massive radiator grille, sophisticated and modern head optics, a sophisticated front bumper design with fog lamps.
In order to be able to install disks with a large diameter, the body has large and rather massive arches.
On the body are ribs, which make the body more aggressive.
In front of the gills. They are designed to capture air.
Most attention was paid to the design of the rear of the crossover. A special feature can be called quite large diode lanterns, as well as a massive bumper with a complex shape and two branch pipes of the exhaust system.
Front Right side of BMW X4 of 2019 year
The manufacturer will offer a new coupe crossover BMW X4 in three body and interior design options – xLine, M Sport and M Sport X. The differences in design are clearly visible in the photo presented in the review. At the same time for the novelty are offered several gasoline and diesel engines. Thus, fans of the Bavarian company will have very difficult to choose their own individual configuration.
At the same time, all the feeds of the new generation of the BMW X4 are a continuous work of art: the luggage compartment door with a strong glass slope and a high vertical metal part topped with a spoiler, a stroke of dimensional lighting, a monumental bumper with a diffuser and large exhaust pipe nozzles.
Side of the body of the new generation X4 demonstrates all the attributes of the coupe-shaped crossover, selected by the manufacturers in a separate subclass of the Sports Activity Coupe: a long hood, a strong slope of the windshield frame, a sloping roof line, starting its decline even before the middle pillar and forming an ideal merger with the line of the high sill at the stern.
The front part of the BMW X4 body is identical to the front BMW X3 and flaunts the signature nostrils of the Bavarian manufacturer’s false radiator grille, the strict look of the Bi-LED headlamps and the powerful bumper with large air intakes.
INTEROR
The salon has not changed significantly. The company maintains a unified style when creating a salon of almost all models. The key features of this proposal are:
Quite a massive multifunctional steering wheel. Today, the steering wheel is used to control various functions.
The classic instrument panel, which is executed very qualitatively.
The central console is represented by a small display and a combination of several logical blocks. All a little turned towards the driver, making the cabin more comfortable.
The tunnel is massive, has an automatic transmission control unit and a joystick, from which the multimedia system is controlled.
The seats are very comfortable, they have a complex configuration, due to which the most favorable conditions for driving a vehicle are provided.
The rear row is simple, the seats are comfortable.
Dashboard view of BMW X4 of 2019 year
Interior design X4 a replica of the cabin X3, unless you take into account the less hospitable back row and cargo area with the smaller useful volume. The arsenal informative digital instrument panel, compact multifunction steering wheel rim with plump, the proposed extra full color projection display, advanced multimedia complex with a 10.25-inch color display deployed toward the driver center console with correctly placed climate control buttons and control unit , responsible for the auxiliary functions of the car.
Special attention is paid to the well-designed driver’s and front passenger’s seats, providing the assembled landing and excellent lateral support, the distance between the front and rear seats increased by 27 mm in comparison with the predecessor’s cabin (the increase obviously will make it more comfortable to be located behind), as well as high-quality premium materials finishes and a huge selection of color solutions for the interior.
The interior is simple, but tasteful. At furnish the most qualitative materials, for example, a leather and glossy plastic, and also metal decorative elements are applied.
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
With each new generation of Bavarian crossovers are becoming more attractive and technologically advanced. When creating the model under consideration, the modular platform CLAR was used as a basis, which allowed to drop about 50 kilograms. At the same time, the body significantly increased in size, and also has more efficient aerodynamics.
The key points of the car in question are the following:
The crossover has become much larger.
Engineers were able to significantly reduce the drag coefficient. Due to this, the crossover becomes more stable on the road surface.
Bavarian automaker allows you to install a variety of discs, the size of which varies in the range from R18 to R21.
The model is equipped with the xDrive all-wheel drive system. At the same time, the design has a multi-disc clutch.
There are three gasoline and four diesel engines. At the same time, the diesel version is very popular.
On all versions, 8-automatic transmission is installed, which has high performance characteristics.
ENGINE
It’s nice to note that all versions of the new generation of the BMW X4 are equipped as standard with 8 automatic transmissions and a proprietary all-wheel drive xDrive (multi-plate clutch connects the front wheels). The new “X-Four” is offered with three petrol and four diesel engines.

The BMW X4 xDrive25d with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel (231 HP 500 Nm) accelerates from 0 to 100 kmh in 6.8 seconds, the top speed reaches 230 km / h, and fuel consumption is declared at 5.5 liters.
The BMW X4 xDrive30d with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo diesel (265 hp 620 Nm) is able to score the first hundred in 5.8 seconds, a top speed of 240 kmh, and a fuel consumption of at least 5.9 liters.
The BMW X4 M40d with a six-cylinder 3.0-liter turbo diesel (326 hp 680 Nm) catapults the coupe-shaped crossover from 0 to 100 kmh in 4.9 seconds, the maximum speed is limited by electronics at the turn of 250 km / h, the average diesel fuel consumption is either lower 6.4 liters.
By the way, it is the version of the BMW X4 M40d that is presented by the Bavarian manufacturer for the first time acquaintance with the new generation of BMW X4 (photo in the review).
This crossover has very attractive characteristics, which are not inferior to more expensive versions.

COMPONENTS AND PRICES
BMW X4 2019 in the new body comes in several versions of the body generation. They have an impact on interior design features, optional options and exterior design. The options are named as follows:
xLine.
M Sport.
M Sport X.
Car decoration may vary significantly.
Among the features of the equipment we mention the following points:
An informative dashboard is installed. Despite the fact that many automakers switch to electronic display as a panel, the Bavarian automaker remains unchanged classic. In other words, the design is represented by a combination of several scales and an information display. In addition, the design has a high-quality backlight, which significantly improves the readability of information.
The steering wheel is made in a multifunctional form. In this case, the rim is made in a slightly plump kind. When finishing the structure, the highest quality materials can be used. At the same time, in the sports version the design is significantly different, it looks lighter and more functional.
For a surcharge, you can install a projection display. It displays a variety of information on the front display. Recently, the option is in demand, but is often found only on the most expensive models.
BMW Company pays much attention to the development of a multimedia system. In the basic version, the complex is installed with 10.25-inches. The monitor to be installed has a color display, it is slightly deployed towards the driver.
We paid attention to the development of the climate control unit as well as other functions. The block is represented by a combination of various keys that are correctly located.
Many functions can be controlled by voice commands. To do this, you can synchronize with mobile devices via wireless communication or via USB. This significantly increases the comfort in the cabin.
Already in the basic configuration set up chairs with a complex design, which provides comfort. Excellent fit and excellent lateral support. Today, the design of the seats is very complicated, it involves a combination of different systems that provide the required comfort.
Considering BMW X4 2019 (sets and prices), it should be noted that the distance between the front and rear seats increased by 27 mm. Due to this, the second row has become more spacious and comfortable.
So, in the basic version, rather high-quality materials are used. If you want, you can order a version with the highest quality materials, for which you will have to pay extra.
The luggage compartment door has an electric drive. Such an option today is quite common, as it allows to significantly improve the comfort of using the vehicle. Due to the electric drive, the door can be controlled remotely.
In the luggage compartment placed a USB port and a 12-volt outlet. These elements can be used to charge various mobile devices.
The new model BMW X4 in 2019 (photo, price in the article) is a combination of the most modern technologies, due to which the cabin significantly increases comfort. Most attention was paid to the front seats, which have an anatomical shape.

MAIN COMPETITORS
Find competitors of the BMW X4 model is quite difficult. This is due to the fact that the car is a combination of various modern technologies. In addition, the company has developed an attractive exterior and a very high-quality interior. Competitors can be called the following models:
Volvo XC60.
Mercedes GLC.
Porsche Macan.
Cadillac XT5.
Range Rover Evoque.
Land Rover Discovery Sport.
Lexus NX.
Competitors in this model are serious. An example is the offer Lexus, which is characterized by an attractive exterior and a combination of all modern options. In addition, Mercedes began to introduce a large number of modern technologies that have been developed over the past few years. The Bavarian company today is a kind of leader in the field of designing and manufacturing modern cars.
Salon view of BMW X4 of 2019 year
CONCLUSION
Сlass of crossover fell in taste to various motorists. This is due to the fact that the models of this class have the ability to pass enough for movement in the winter, as well as high comfort in the cabin and the most advanced services. An example is the BMW X4 2019, which, by its popularity today, bypasses its older brothers on the conveyor. This is due to the fact that the model is more accessible and has an attractive exterior. Bavarian automaker from year to year leaves each new generation almost unchanged.

Jaguar’s latest SA-bound SUV: We drive the new E-Pace!
Land Rover Accessories Saudi Arabia
  Ferdi De Vos
Vecchio (Corsica) – “The Cub”. That’s how the development team in Whitley, Coventry, dubbed the E-Pace – the newest arrival in the Jaguar litter and the third SUV in the pride – launched on the island of Corsica this week and expected to make its African debut in two months’ time.
With its smaller dimensions and more compact design the E-Pace looks more energetic, agile and playful that its bigger World Car of the Year-winning F-Pace sibling, and the all-electric I-Pace. According to Jaguar director of designer Ian Callum the big “eyes” – newly designed headlights – and outsized “paws” – alloy wheels of up to 21″ wide – of the E-Pace earned it the nickname “cub” within the development and design team.
The local range
With Jaguar Land Rover’s facilities in the UK close to capacity, the company has formed a partnership with engineering and manufacturing specialist Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, and the E-Pace will be the first vehicle produced in Austria under this arrangement.
The local E-Pace range, to be launched in March, will consist of no less than 38 AWD model derivatives – an indication of just how important this model is to Jaguar…
They will all be sourced from Graz, and prices range from just under R600 000 (R598,500) for the entry-level 110kW 2.0-litre diesel model to R895,700 for the 184kW 2.0-litre petrol First Edition derivative.
Prices include Jaguar’s Five-year Care Plan consisting of a five-year/100 000km service plan, a five-year/100 000km maintenance plan and a five-year/100 000km warranty, as standard.
Will the E-Pace sell in South Africa? For sure.
It packs Jaguar’s alluring design and good performance into a spacious, practical and connected all-wheel-drive package, at a good price entry point for the British marque. This will attract many new drivers into the fold, as long as they do not expect real sports car performance in the F-Type vein from its taller sibling.
Tough competition
The smallest Jag SUV is squarely aimed at the newly launched BMW X2, which ostensibly served as benchmark for its design and development, as well as other small premium SUVs such as the Porsche Macan, Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3, Lexus NX, Mini Countryman and Alfa Romeo Stelvio. However, similarly to the F-Pace it falls in-between classes in terms of size and dimensions and can also be viewed as a contender for the BMW X3, Audi Q2 and Mercedes-Benz CLC.
The E-Pace’s more mischievous, lively nature and its position within the Coventry Cat line-up is further emphasised by a couple of light-hearted, but apt, touches…
A graphic in the windscreen corner showing the silhouette of a Jaguar and her cub, the front door mirror pool lights displaying the same design when you unlock or open them at night, and in top models the inside of the central storage compartment is covered with subtle jaguar coat spots… But, besides these fun elements the five-seat E-Pace has a lot of grown-up technology inside, and an adult approach to interior practicality and class-leading connectivity.
Traces of F-Type
The exterior design is characterised by the distinctive Jaguar grille, lean, muscular proportions, short overhangs and powerful haunches, and the headlights (with the optional LED lights featuring signature J-blade daytime running lights) are similar to those used on the F-Type sports car. The slim, blade-like rear lamps featuring full LED technology also show definite traces of the F-Type sports car.
However, according to the design team it was quite a challenge to get the proportions right; more so as the E-Pace – based on the same platform as the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Evoque – has a transverse engine driving the front wheels in normal driving conditions.
This means longer overhangs and front wheels positioned further back, but the development team managed to disguise the overhangs well with outsized pulled-back headlights and big side inlets, and together with the fast sweep of the roofline and distinctive side window graphic it gives the E-Pace a sporty and bold stance.
The E-Type’s smaller size also meant it was impossible and impractical to use aluminium for the body panels (in contrast to its bigger F-Pace sibling), but by using aluminium for suspension parts, the bonnet, front fenders, tailgate and roof the team managed to save some 30kg of weight. Ultra-high tensile steel and a core structure made from super-strong boron steel gives the E-Pace a torsional stiffness of 28.7kN/degree, resulting in better dynamics and a five-star NCAP crash safety rating, without adding weight.
That said, weighing in at close to 1.8 tons the E-Pace is nearly as heavy as the bigger F-Pace, and this does affect its dynamic performance.
The E-Pace can be specified in eleven exterior colours; Caldera Red (First Edition only), Fuji White (Solid); Borasco Grey, Firenze Red, Caesium Blue, Yulong White, Indus Silver, Santorini Black or Corris Grey (Metallic); and Farallon Pearl Black or Silicon Silver (Premium Metallic).
Connecting the family
With the new compact SUV aimed at modern families – people who besides purity of design and performance also expect practical interior space, connectivity and security, according to Callum – the E-Pace is one of the most connected and intelligent vehicles in its class.
Digital connectivity is found throughout the cabin (up to four 12-volt charging points and five USB connections as well as a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot for up to eight devices) and a next-generation touchscreen infotainment system can connect occupants to their favourite apps.
Other interior features emulating the F-Type design lead can be seen in the asymmetric instrument panel embracing the driver, and an F-Type derived gear selector for the auto versions – rather than the rotary drum used in Jaguar’s saloons and the F-Pace.
The compact SUV (with a length of 4,395mm and a wheelbase of 2,681mm) has generous rear legroom (892mm), making it quite comfortable at the back, and sumptuous luggage capacity (577 litres), compared to rivals such as the Macan, GLC, X3 and Stelvio, made possible by the automaker’s sophisticated Integral Link rear suspension architecture. However, with the rear seats folded down it has less boot space than some of its competitors.
Besides maximising cabin space, the new chassis hardware also provides a good basis for the E-Pace’s all-surface dynamic capabilities, while Configurable Dynamics gives the driver more control with individual settings for the throttle, auto transmission, steering and, where fitted, the Adaptive Dynamics suspension system.
Engine choices and trim lines
Available with S, SE and HSE specification packs, in core or R-Dynamic body styles, the E-Pace is offered with a choice of five powertrains – three Ingenium diesel and two petrol 2.0-litre engines paired with either an intelligent nine-speed automatic
The 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel models are available in 110kW, 132kW and 177kW output form, while the pair of 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol turbo units deliver 183kW or 221kW. All models are fitted with a ZF nine-speed automatic transmission or a quick-shifting six-speed manual transmission.
Jaguar claims the top-of-the-line 221kW petrol turbo engine will power the E-Pace from 0-100km/h in just 6.4 seconds before reaching an electronically-limited top speed of 243 km/h.
The high-powered 177kW diesel produces 500Nm of torque thanks to its series sequential turbo’s, enough to power the auto version from standstill to 100km/h in 7.4 seconds and delivering CO2 emissions of 162g/km.
A front-wheel drive only entry-level 110kW diesel derivative is available overseas, but only AWD models have been specified for South Africa, starting with the 110kW Base version, available for R598 500 at launch.
Besides the base model a R-Dynamic Pack version with a sports-focused interior, including a branded steering wheel and gearshift paddles, and exclusive visual enhancements outside, such as a unique front bumper with small fog lights, body-coloured sills and satin-chrome detailing, is available with Standard, S, SE and HSE specification packs.
The range also features the latest safety and driver assistance technologies as options, including a stereo camera for the emergency braking system which also provides pedestrian detection, deliver a Blind Spot assist function and supports Lane Keep Assist.
First Edition
A First Edition model is also available for the 2018 build year. This model is exclusively available with the 132kW diesel or 183kW petrol engines and nine-speed ZF automatic transmission. It features special paint colour options, gloss black detailing and distinctive 20-inch alloys, a soft-grain leather interior with red contrast stitching, a panoramic roof and TFT Head-Up Display (available as options on the other grades). Other highlights include Configurable Dynamics, a gesture-controlled tailgate and Jaguar Activity Key, along with unique First Edition carpet mats and treadplates.
Tour de Corse
A selection of 177kW (D240) diesel models and 221kW (P300) petrol derivatives, splendidly turned out in red, grey, white and blue, awaited us near Porto Vecchio.
The launch route, touring through the mountainous areas of Corsica, included sections used for the Tour de Corse rally – real driver roads twisting up and down the mountain sides with a hairpin every third corner, sometimes on broken tar surfaces with no run-off areas and a gaping chasm, guarded only by wheel-height rocks, awaiting you if you get it wrong…
Bequeathed with 20-inch Pirelli rubber, the firm ride quality of our red S-specification diesel was immediately apparent. Even in Comfort mode it was quite hard, mostly due to the wide, low-profile tyres.
In auto setting the seamless changes of the nine-speed auto ’box was impressive, but in the short hairpin bends it was prone to kicking down too far if you weren’t careful with modulating the accelerator when exiting the corner.
However, by selecting Sport mode and swinging the pistol-grip gear lever over to manual alleviated this tendency. The soft rumble of the 2-litre diesel also became more pronounced and engine and gearbox reaction quicker – but not sporty by any stretch of the imagination…
Dynamic attributes
The new front suspension, on its own subframe, and compact rear suspension worked well to check body roll in the tight bends and to transfer the E-Pace’s considerable weight in the switchbacks, making it easier to balance the SUV before entering the next twist in a seemingly unending series of corners.
The Active Driveline AWD system – a technological first for Jaguar – that transfer virtually all engine torque to the rear axle in extreme conditions, worked well with the 500Nm of twisting force (available at a low 1,500rpm) of the D240 diesel when accelerating out of the corners.
To avert understeer on turn-in (inherent on all front-wheel drive vehicles) and use the system to full potential, it soon became clear the trick was to brake slightly earlier (taking advantage of the Torque Vectoring system) and get on the gas sooner, relying on the E-Pace’s DSC to keep things in shape mid-corner…
(The system’s All Surface Progress Control (ASPC) attributes– with the level of intervention varying according to the selected JaguarDrive mode – were best displayed over a short low-friction dirt section where it allowed you to initiate power-on oversteer and maintain a controlled drift.)
Having sampled the impressive torque of the most powerful diesel model, we tried the flagship petrol derivative in similar conditions. With less torque (400Nm) it did not feel as quick accelerating out of tight corners, but the free-revving mill made it speedier through the longer curves.
With all those short corners the red-calipered brakes took a hammering, but while they became pretty hot at times, there wasn’t much brake fade.
It’s engine sound, though, was disappointing. One would have expected more of a sporty roar, yet even in Sport mode its snarl was quite muted and subdued, with none of imbued crackles and pops nowadays associated with sporty new-generation turbo vehicles.
And while both E-Pace models showed it is more than competent dynamically, it did not feel overtly sporty – in contrast with its F-Type sibling – and the whole experience lacked driver involvement. Its steering, while accurate, felt quite numb – further adding to the sense of detachment and remoteness from what is happening on the road, and in this respect the Macan and Stelvio provides for a much more immersed and rewarding drive.
In my view the E-Pace is actually “over-tyred” on those 20-inchers (not to even mention the 21-inch options), and besides influencing its ride quality also contribute to the lack of feel, constraining its inherent sportiness.
It remains to be seen whether the standard 18-inch or 19-inch will alleviate this, but I would anyway suggest sticking to these sizes for South African road conditions.
