Building a 650 Horsepower BMW N54 Engine
Known for its performance, engineering, and widespread adoption among Bimmer enthusiasts, the N54 engine marked a significant milestone in BMW’s history. The N54 engine was introduced by BMW in 2006 and was produced until 2016 most notably in cars like the 135i Coupe and Convertible (E82/E88), 335i Coupe, Convertible, Sedan, and Wagon (E90/E91/E92/E93), 535i Sedan and Wagon (E60/E61), and the Z4 sDrive35i (E89). This engine really marked BMW’s return to turbocharging in a production inline-six engine. The N54 is a 3.0-liter inline-six engine featuring twin turbo’s. The use of twin turbos helps the engine deliver strong low-end torque and impressive horsepower output across the rpm range. The N54 was one of the first BMW engines to feature direct fuel injection. To support direct injection, the N54 engine features a high-pressure fuel system capable of delivering fuel at pressures of up to 2900 psi (200 bar for the non Americans). The N54 also incorporates BMW’s VANOS system for both the intake and exhaust camshafts. This variable valve timing technology allows for precise control over valve timing, optimizing engine performance, responsiveness, and fuel efficiency. Like a lot of current BMW engines, the N54 features an aluminum block and cylinder head, which helps reduce weight while maintaining structural integrity and heat dissipation properties, but be careful of overheating, because once that aluminum warps, there’s no going back.
youtube
From the factory, the N54 makes around 300 to 335 horsepower (depending on the application), and torque ranging from 300 to 370 lb-ft. These numbers make it a popular platform for BMW boys who want to build it to the moon. The N54 has gotten a significant following because of its potential for significant power gains with relatively simple bolt ons. So let’s talk about these bolt on’s and how to bring the N54 for 650 horsepower using parts sold on our website!
1.) Charge Pipe and Blow Off Valve
First is going to be an aluminum charge pipe with a blow off valve, from brands Active Autowerks, CTS turbo, and Vargas
An upgraded aluminum charge pipe has more durability than the stock plastic that comes in cars with N54’s. It also allows for improved airflow, and better heat dissipation, making them perfect for forced induction setups. Their ability to withstand higher boost pressures and reduce turbulence improves performance and reliability, while also looking so much better than plastic.
Installing a blow-off valve on an N54 can help maintain consistent boost pressure and protect the turbo’s from damage. When the throttle plate closes suddenly, such as during gear shifts or when lifting off the accelerator, the compressed air trapped in the charge pipes can create a pressure wave. A blow-off valve releases this excess pressure, preventing it from damaging the turbo’s and ensuring smoother performance and longevity of the turbocharged system.

2.) Cold Air Intake
Second is going to be a cold air intake from brands like Burger Motorsports, AFE, and GruppeM
Adding a cold air intake to the N54 engine will increase airflow, giving it improved performance and a way better sound. By reducing the temperature of the air going in to your engine, it enhances efficiency and potentially fuel economy. A cold air intake is a fairly easy upgrade to install, making it a great choice for people just wanting to get their feet wet, or have sick induction noises.

3.) Fuel Pump
Next is an upgraded fuel pump, from brands like Vargas
Upgrading the fuel system in an N54 is crucial if you’re wanting to gain more horsepower and have a higher torque output, especially when running higher boost or using aftermarket turbos. A stronger fuel system ensures the right amount of fuel delivery to meet the engine’s increased demand, preventing it from fuel starvation and potential engine damage. Upgrading your fuel system can also allow for more precise tuning, maximizing the engine’s potential performance while maintaining reliability.

4.) Front Mounted Intercooler
After that is a front mounted intercooler, from brands like Wagner, Forge motorsports, and Evolution racewerks
Upgrading the intercooler for an N54 gives you better cooling efficiency. It reduces intake air temperatures for increased power output and improved throttle response. It also helps prevent heat soak during hard driving, giving you consistent power. An upgraded intercooler also helps when you add other modifications to your engine.
Intercooler Links:

5.) Upgraded Turbo
Then a turbo upgrade from Brands like The Turbo Engineers, Vargas, and CTS Turbo
Upgrading to twin turbos on an N54 engine can significantly increase power potential. This is the key ingredient to getting up to 650 Horsepower. The stock turbo’s on an N54 can hold up to around 400 horsepower before blowing themselves up, so upgrading them will be a necessity to seeing higher horsepower gains. Upgrading your turbos also gives the engine better responsiveness and torque delivery throughout the RPM range, resulting in you having more fun.
Turbo Upgrade Links:
TTE- https://www.vividracing.com/tte-turbo-new-tte600-n54-upgrade-turbocharger-bmw-135i-lhd-20072011-p-153639504.html Vargas- https://www.vividracing.com/vtt-n54-stage-rhd-titaniumfits-all-n54-models-lhdrhd-p-155987572.html CTS- https://www.vividracing.com/cts-turbo-stage-turbo-upgrade-bmw-335i-20072011-p-155962671.html
And finally you’ll need a tune to wrap it all up and make sure everything works.
Tuning the N54 after installing upgraded turbos, a new fuel system, a cold air intake, an upgraded intercooler, and a charge pipe is crucial to optimizing performance and making engine operates safely. A custom tune allows for proper calibration of the engine’s air-fuel ratio, ignition timing, boost levels, and fuel delivery, allowing you to maximize power and drivability while making sure a piston doesn’t go flying out of your hood.
Overall, the N54 is an amazing engine, and it’s popular for a reason. Now, all of these parts are just suggestions. There are plenty of other ways to build an N54 and get upwards of 500 horsepower! Things to know about SW Motech Crash Bars
If you don’t have SW motech crash bars on your motorcycle yet, you should consider installing them. Motorcycles have a much higher risk of tipping over because they only have two wheels. Most motorcyclists are all too aware of this unfortunate fact, but motorbikes come with stands to allow them to stand upright. When the stands fail (and inevitably they do), crash bars come to the rescue.
You are probably wondering what crash bars are if you are hearing about them for the first time. A crash bar is literally a bar that wraps around the important aspects of your motorcycle and protects them. It may wrap around the engine or other essential parts of the motorbike. If you are a motorcyclist, you may also choose to protect your bike with a slider. This is a peg that sticks out from the bike and protects a good amount of the motorcycle from hitting the ground.
Since there are different types of crash bars, you need to know which one is suitable for your motorcycle. They are all specific to the type of motorcycle you have. Some of them come pre-installed as original equipment, but many riders prefer to install aftermarket crash bars, so they can choose better design or materials.
Remember that the SW motech crash bars you choose may be designed to protect essential parts of your bike, like the fuel tank or engine. This is because, in case of a low-speed crash, you may still be able to complete your ride with minimal damage. You will also come across other crash bars that are designed for overall protection of the motorcycle’s athletic features, or simply the plastic. It is amazing how much damage your bike can sustain simply from it tipping over.

Driving First class→T.H
Parings: mechanic!tom x reader
Summary: A bitter fight with your now ex has you taking your car instead of a train for a business trip. Although out of your pettiness and anger, your car breaks down and you are left in the middle of nowhere but luckily Tom sees your distress and the man who works on the car is your best rescue. But he works on you other ways both Physically and emotionally
Warnings: Dom!tom, sub!reader, degrading(only slightly), sex on top of a car, squirting, oral, unprotected sex (this is fictional please use protection!), orgasm denial, power struggle, Tom being scared of women for two seconds
Word count: 5.5k
A/n: yeah so idk why I got so horny all the sudden and wrote this. Tbh...I like this version of tom, whatever this is I kinda like it. Let me know what you guys think, if you want to see more or less but I present to you: the first full fic I’ve written in months!(also I know barely anything about cars so I’m sorry if it’s cringy😭)
“Fuck! Shit! Dammit! Fuck! Fuck!” You scream. Hitting your hands against the steering wheel. Such a stupid idea with a stupid end result how could you not expect it?
Taking a car instead of a plane or a train across the country to avoid your ex on a business trip. Thinking you were being more bold and brave, proving you never needed him in the first place when now you sit stranded out in the middle of nowhere with a smoking engine and only hours until sunset and you’re sweating your ass off in a suit. A suit, who the hell wears a suit on a road trip?
Your Phone only having one bar and giving you 20%, you’re doomed. Doomed to be stranded out here and either killed by a maniac or killed by a bear. If London even had bears you would be killed by one. Wanting to cry and scream and maybe a train seat next to your ex who cheated was a better option than crying in your grandpa’s old Chevy that you thought was a better idea than the Tesla or the BMW. Anything would’ve been a better idea than this one but for once you couldn’t let go of the fiery side to you and just got in a car with your middle finger to your ex thinking you were so much better than a first class seat with expensive champagne.
“Who the fuck do you think you are?” You say to yourself. Your hands run over your face. As dramatic as you can be you think you feel the end coming. The smoke from the engine never dies down and the sun is getting hotter and hotter. No more bubble gum pop plays from the radio but instead the sound of birds chirping and your paranoia of a bear eating you eats at your ears. You think maybe you should’ve sent that drunk ‘I miss you’ text to your ex back two nights ago when you were drunk to maybe just feel his dick once more and get on a stupid train with him but now you are—
“Miss?” A knock at your window causes you to jump. Screaming as you are met with the face of a man and grabbing your pepper spray from the keys and pointing. Even though the window was rolled up you still point and he backs up with his hands up.
“What the fuck!” You scream as you lower the pepper spray. You don’t know when, don’t know how, but now pulled in front of you was a black SUV that was in much better shape than your car. A man who wore a tight white shirt and had sweet chocolate brown curls stood with a scared look on his face.
“I-I’m sorry! I-I wanted to make sure you were okay. I’ve seen your smoke some while back and...and you were slumped over your steering wheel and needed to make sure I didn’t need to call police.” He explained very rushed. You place your hand over your heart, calming yourself as you reached to roll down your window so you can properly talk to him. A harmless boy who was probably on his way home.
“I’m fine.” You almost groan as you put your pepper spray back down. Running your hands over your face once again. Tom takes in how nice you look, black suit and neatly painted nails, you looked expensive so what was such an expensive girl like you doing in such a dirty old car like this?
“You got smoke coming from your car, you don’t look fine miss.” He looks at the cloud that still comes from your car. He has a worried look. You hate that you make the assumption of him being a man so he will know how to fix it but at the same time he was an Angel sent from Heaven,
“The engine blew out...at least I think…” you trail off. Honestly you didn’t know anymore, The last time you worked with a car was when you were 15 and before your grandpa died. The only person who truly taught you about cars now seemed to be reincarnated into the Greek god in front of you.
“Mind if I take a look?” He asked and you nodded as you popped the hood.
Stepping out of your car you join the boy in the front. Taller than him in the heels you wore having him look up at you as if you were the Angel sent down in the moment.
He doesn’t hesitate to dig his fingers into your car. Feeling the overheated engine and you watched as his eyes went in shock and his sigh. You were fucked. Utterly fucked and no, it wasn’t by some hot guy on a plane like you wished in the moment.
“She’s busted.” He looked at you. You almost want to roll your eyes and go ‘thanks’ as if you already didn’t know that. “I might be able to fix her up, gotta take her back to the shop and see what I can do but other than that she’s no good for a ride.” He placed his hands on his hips and looked up at you again.
“You mean it’s like broken broken down?” You start to panic even more. Ruining the BMW was far more worth it than the ‘57 Chevy you drove. No one made a car like this anymore and you adored it. Every chip of paint, every dent, each faded seat you loved as your own.
“I can see what I can do.” He shrugged. He starts to walk to his car, opening the trunk to hook your busted vehicle up to his and drag it back to where he just came from. As he starts to hook up your car you only just stare, watching as he does his work. He rubs his now oily hands on his pant leg before he looks up at you.
“You wanna hop in the front?” He asked and you started walking to your car and he let out a laugh. “No I meant my car, Angel.”
The random man that pulls over on the side of the road, has you pointing your pepper spray one moment ago now has you acting like a idiot as he was so pretty and a gift sent just for you.
“Right,” you walk around to the passengers seat. “Sorry.” You cleared your throat as you sat and waited in silence. Waiting for him to come around and when he does he doesn’t say anything but just starts up the car.
“You’re not going to kill me are you?” You looked over to him who has a goofy grin on his face.
“No sweetheart.” He shakes his head and you sigh in relief. As if he would even tell you that he was going to kill you. “You’re not going to kill me are you? With that spray you’ve got?” He teased and you shook your head.
“No, and sorry, I was just panicked and you are—“ you started but he lets a low laugh that you find so attractive.
“No I get it, you’re fine.” He stared back at the road. You were so use to the city, the tall building and the blinding lights you never really got to see the beauty of London outside of it. The gorgeous countryside you never knew existed actually did. But the countryside only lasted for so long before you were in a town filled with some of the cutest shops and was like a small city. So cute and so tiny.
“You wear heels on a road trip?” He broke the silence again and this time you’re looking at the four inch shoes.
“I-well-“ you looked and sounded like a proper idiot. You worked for one of London’s best businesses and now you were stumbling over your words, “well...yes? I’m on a business trip.” You admit and he looks back at the busted vehicle.
“I don’t know what business you work for but them sending you in a—“ he starts and you shake your head.
“No, no, that is mine. I thought—I didn’t want to go on a train and—it’s just complicated. A complicated stupid mess.” You tell him and he tilts his head as if he was agreeing.
“Well, I’ll see how well I can get you out of the complicated stupid mess.” He flashed a smile before he turned into what looked like a garage. A large garage that was filled with cars of all types, from new to old there were cars that had looked like they had been worked on for days as Tom pulled his car up and turned it off.
“We have some water in the front if you need some and there's a bathroom in the back. Make yourself a home, I'll get started.” and so for once, instead of just staring at him as if he was a piece of art hanging in the louvre, you search for the bathroom and the water he was talking about.
Leaving him to pop back open your hood, you walk into the bathroom and run cold water over your face. Feeling yourself relax at the feeling of finally getting the heat from the sun out of your face. Facing yourself in the mirror, you stare long and hard at yourself. The dimly lit bathroom, the achy feeling in your feet from being so stupid and wearing heels, the fact you broke down in god know what part of london but now you are in a mechanic shop and you are letting some random person fix up your beloved car.
“Should’ve just gotten on the train.” you groan as you take a paper towel and dry your face. Reaching for the door and walking back out to the garage where tom was now in a white tank top that was stained black all over, he had a towel over his shoulder as he worked at your car. You try to swallow the lump in your throat as you are completely mesmerized by the man in front of you.
Should've gotten on the train. Should've gotten on the train. Should've gotten on the train.
“Fuck!” Tom almost hits his head on the hood of the car as he sees you. You think he had curly hair at the start, now he had hair that kind of stuck to his forehead from the heat and sweat of your car. His hands are covered in black oils and he wipes them on the towel. “You scared me.” he lets out a breath as if he held it in and you take a seat at the stool next to the table filled with tools as he walks over to it.
“Sorry,” you say as you look at the car and try not to make it obvious you want to fuck him right now. A complete stranger that picked you up, you want to fuck. What if he did want to kill you? What if he had a girlfriend? Or boyfriend? Or a family of kids? What if-
“You hear me?” he was closer to you than ever and you felt your whole body go weak.
“I'm so sorry,” you shake your head. “What did you say?’
He lets out that stupid pretty laugh of his again as he puts tools back in the tool box. Cleaning up the mess he just made he repeats himself.
“I said, your car is so old that they don't make the part I need to fix her up anymore. Luckily I know a guy who has the part but it will take a few days to come in. the engine is completely busted and i think if i go a year up in model I can put it in just right. But for now she needs to cool off. She’s not gonna be able to drive for a while.” he gives you almost a pout and you slouch your shoulders.
“So I'm screwed?” your brows raised and he gave you a pressed lipped look.
“Im sorry angel, I got a spare room at my place or there is a bed and breakfast up the road I can drop you off at but for now there is nothing I can do.” he says and you sigh. Maybe you want to cry, scream, throw something but Tom notices it all at once as he watches your head drop.
Tom grew up around boys. His whole life was wrestling with his brothers and working on cars. He never dealt with girls crying. Even when he had girlfriends they typically left when they were crying but now he has a crying girl right under his roof after he worked on her car. It did take everything in him to not ask why she used the old thing but he knew a lot more was happening than just a beat down old car.
“I'm sorry. I should thank you, not cry.” you sniffled as you looked up at him who was on his knees crouched down for you. Face to face, he had a concerned look.
“I have a feeling that car isn't why you’re crying.” he didn't know how to play therapist and mechanic but tonight he would.
“I was so stupid not to just get on the train. God, I would have already been there by now and all because I didnt want to sit next to my stupid cheating ex who I thought I was so much better than if I just got in this old thing and drove there myself.” you wipe your eyes and he hands you a tissue but you shake your head.
“He sounds like a shit guy.” He spoke and you nodded.
“He is, but he was the only one that gave a shit about me and now I'm here like an idiot. Well, not an idiot...no, yeah. An idiot. You're really nice and sweet though so thank you.” you try and give him a smile and he stands up.
“Get up.” he groans a bit as he stretches his legs. “C’mon sweets, get up. I’m not going to let you cry over a guy who treated you like shit. You drink?” he asked and you nodded. “I have some beer in the fridge, you already had a shit day let's not cry about it.”
You don't know if you wanted to throw the wrench at him or if you needed him to say that. Either way he sets an ice cold beer in front of you and pops open the top for you.
Probably making more money than everyone in this town, you never thought you would plop down on a nearly broken bar stool in the middle of a car mechanic shop and drink away your feelings with a random man you just met today. You didnt even know his name, nor did he know yours but he listened to everything you had to say about your ex boyfriend who was probably fucking some model right now while you for once felt like you didnt have to play pretend nice in front of someone. How you don't know what god above sent this man in front of you but he did and he listened to each of your problems, nodding and not saying anything back as he just listened to everything.
“I used to work on cars too.” you look over at the cars and he raises his brows.you had finally stopped crying so much, realizing what was happening and where you were but you felt like a weight was taken off your shoulders when you told him everything. Not even your best friend could make you feel like that.
“Penthouse princess used to work on cars?” he teased and you only nudged his shoulder.
“Wow, penthouse princess?” you repeat back to him with a playful smile and he nods.
“Never got your name and you live in a penthouse and act like a princess.” he takes a sip of his beer and you finally extend your hand to meet his.
“(y/n).” you shook his dirty one but wow were his hands thick. You could feel each callous and feel each crooked finger. Your mind went to dirty places and you think maybe he caught on as he watched your legs cross over themselves as you shook his hand.
“Tom.” his thumb swiped over yours as he shook your hand. The feeling made you swallow hard and him smirk just a bit for himself. Before you could get too comfy you walked over to a truck that already had its hood popped open. You stumble a bit in your heels and the uneven ground and Tom is quick to follow you to make sure you don't hurt yourself.
“That's the engine.” you point. And he nods, his hand is on his hips as he watches you point and explain. “That's the brake pad, that's where you put in the oil…” you trail on and Tom nods as you get everything correct.
“Very good, darling.” he nods impressed and you look over at him with a smirk.
“What? No penthouse princess?” you're close to him. You didn't realize how close he was to you before you turned around and are almost chest to chest with him.
“Mmh, you have a preference?” he teased and you look down at your feet. You're still taller than him, but you think even without the heels on you would be either taller or the same height as him. You were always told that you were the one in control, always the one in demand which seemed to be a complaint by your ex.
“Mmh,” you lean in close enough to where your chest is gently pressed against his. “I'm not sure yet.” you let your hand go to the strap of his tank top, its dirty with oil before you let your hands go down and touch the muscle. Feeling just how strong he was, he was pretty tanned too. He was both toned and tanned as he watched your hands trail down to the bottom of his shirt.
His hands rested on your waist. Holding you tight in place and maybe in the moment he was the shorter on but he was always in control. Always.
“You seem so indecisive, do you want to drive or get on a train? Get back with a man or stay away? You don't even know where you want to sleep at night but you still act like you're so in control.” he almost mocks, giving you the same pout you had throughout the entire night and it shocked you.
“I know what I want.” you nearly snarl back and he clicks his tongue.
“Yeah?” he almost whispers as he leans in for your ear. “Prove it.”
You don't know when or how but his lips quickly land on yours. In a rough fight for dominance he has his hands wrapped around your thighs and has you picked up and laid down on one of the cars with a hood down. You don't realize it's your car with his hood down until you brace yourself on the hood. Stripping of your suit jacket and fiddling with your pants button but tom is already on it. He's down on his knees, undoing the straps of your shoes as he lets his hands go up and undo the buttons of your pants. Having you nearly completely naked in front of him, that's not exactly what he was going for as he picks you up from the hood as has you on your knees in front of him.
“Was so cute, you thought you were going to get exactly what you wanted.” his hand was dirty as it stroked your face but landed a grip on your chin. Pulling you in close, your head in between his thighs looking up at him with pleading eyes. You almost whimper, you were on your knees for a man you didn't know and you were almost whimpering.
“Dont act stupid.” he nearly spit at you as he leaned back. Your hands are going to unzip his pants but he stops you. Forcing you to rest your hands on his thighs as he pulls himself out of his pants. You swallowed hard as he was bigger than you had expected--far bigger than your ex as you felt like your mouth was watering as he used his thumb to stroke over the tip.
“Stick your tongue out.” he told you. You gladly stuck your tongue out with your mouth wide and ready to take him. He had one grip on your jaw and the other guiding his cock into your mouth. You start to suck but that's not what he wanted. He held your jaw in place as he thrusted up into you.
“Thats a good girl,” he hissed as he used your mouth as if it was his own personal toy. You reached to stroke what couldnt fit in your mouth and he let out an airy laugh. “What a little whore you are.” he shook his head. “So desperate, is this not enough for you? Sucking on my cock not enough for you?” he taunted you and you only moan—or at least try to moan and he laughs.
“What was that darling? I can't seem to hear you?” he teased and you only whined more with your mouth around him. You play a game with yourself where you think you can make him cum like this. Making him cum this early would mean that you always were more incharge from the start. But you barely know him, you don't know how long he can last.
“Get up.” he pulls your head off of him. His cock still hard as it fell onto his stomach and you were drooling with his precum. Your eyes don't even look up at him you look at the redness of his cock, how you want more of it and maybe you were the whore like he said.
“Look at me,” he pulled you up, now face to face with him. His hand that was free slips in between thighs, teasing as he gets closer and closer to your core and he clicks his tongue again. “Such a dirty girl, don't even want to look at me, say thank you, you just look at my cock wanting more. You want more?” he strokes your cheek and you nod. “What was that? A moment ago I thought I was talking to one of the richest girls in London but now I feel like I'm talking to just some whore--” he starts to talk but your lips are already on his. You straddle his hips. Extremely unsturdy but he quickly picks you up and flips you over. As much as he'd loved to see what you look like on top of him. Tits bouncing for him and trying to hold on, here was not the best place. He would get a better view later, he just knew it.
For now he flips you over on your stomach. You're pressed up against the car as he wraps his hand around your waist and uses his fingers for a bit.
“So fucking tight.” he slides in slowly at first. Making you gasp and him hiss. “That other boy fuck you like this?” he asked but you were too busy trying to feel more of him. His hand comes down to your ass and in shock you yelp. “I asked you a question, don't say you don't know manners either.'' He was close to your ear and you shook your head no.
“No!” you nearly cry out as he pushes into you. Completely filling you up. You feel tears perk at the corner of your eyes for how desperately you needed him. You even push back on him and he lets out a soft laugh. “H-he's never fucked me like this, god tom please move!” you cry out. His hands come to your waist and he clicks his tongue again.
“Since you asked so nicely.” he teased as he pulled himself fully out and pushed himself fully back in. you cry out, not caring who heard you, you cried out as he fucked into you like you two were the last people on earth.
“Fuck youre so tight.” he threw his head back as he held on to your hips. You felt yourself give up under him. There was no use in you trying to take control anymore when he did this to you. Had you dumbed down just for his dick.
“I need to cum tom.” you cry out. You try and open your eyes to look back at him who has created a rhythm for your body. His head is thrown back and he shakes his head.
“No.” was all he said and you nearly cry more. “Not yet.” was all he said as he went faster.
“Please, please, please.” you begged between a mixture of moans and cries. Reaching back to hold his hands but he quickly moved them to wrap around your waist and touch your clit. Using his thumb to rub gentle circles you nearly
“So cute when you whine like that.” he chuckled. You felt him twitch, knowing he was close too, you clenched your walls around him. You could barely hear his gasp but you have your cheek pushed up against the hood of your car that got you here in the first place.
“Fuck,” he struglld to moan out. “C-Cum for me.” he sped up and your whole body went numb. You swear you pass out for a moment as all you hear are his moans and the sudden feeling of him stopping.
Both heavy breathing you slowly move yourself to get up, at least turn yourself around so you can face a clearly stunned tom. His mouth open just a bit and his eyes are wide.
“Y-you squirted.” he tells you and suddenly you go from feeling like the sexiest person alive to feeling your body heat up in full embarrassment.
“I-i'm so sorry i-i didn't know-” you start to stammer as you reach for your shirt to clean him up but he shakes his head still trying to catch his breath.
“No, It was hot.” he says as his shock turns into a small smirk, cocky that he was able to do that. “Fuck, have you ever done that before?” he asked.
Your cheeks heated up, even though he couldn't see the clear embarrassment you nodded. One time, years ago when you were by yourself. You hadn't touched yourself in over a month and it was just the highest setting of your vibe and the hottest porn star you could find that had done it to you. Never ever had an actual man been able to make you do that. Hell, you were lucky if your ex even made you cum.
“O-Once, once but I was by myself.” you swallowed hard, you could already see the smirk on his face as he knew he was so much better than anyone you had ever had. He didn't even know your ex partners but if he could get you to do that the first time he fucked you then even you knew you didn't need anyone else.
He uses his clean shirt to clean you up. Helping you slip back on your underwear and making sure that you could still walk--you barely could. He helps you into his car. Letting you cool down a bit before he drove out of the garage, driving down the road and it was only about a minute until you arrived at the cutest house you had ever seen.
He lifted you out and brought you inside, passing you clothes that were far better to sleep in than a suit and your completely ruined underwear, you found yourself getting comfy under his bedsheets.
“So im guessing im not going to the bed and breakfast for the night?” you nuzzled into the sheets that smelt of ocean spray and cedarwood. This man was some sort of god, you swore on it.
“Hmm, no. unless you still want to.” he slides under the sheets himself. His hands dont touch you but you gladly lean in and wrap your arms around him. He at first stills, stiffens his whole body before he relaxes for you. He didn't even know what he was thinking. First he helps the pretty girl he worried was dead on the side of the road and now he has her in his bed after having one of the best orgasms of his life.
“No,” you hum against his chest. “If you don't mind.” but it wasn't a question. This time you take control over the situation and fall quickly asleep in his arms. He only lays there, waiting for you to find yourself fully asleep.
Fuck that stupid train, fuck your stupid ex, and fuck him.
-
Dark roast and sizzling eggs fill your nose. You wake up with puffy eyes, from crying last night embarrassingly in Tom's arms you look down and see you're only in a random stained tee and your underwear. In a way,you thought you hit your head hard enough on the steering wheel that all of this was a dream but it was real. You lay in a grey sheeted bed and hear the sound of music come from the kitchen.
Ideally, if you got on the train, you would have woken up in a hotel with a view of the city and probably eat half of a bagel and drink rich coffee from the breakfast bar before being off to your first conference of the day. But you were instead naked in the bed of a man who was helping you fix your car.
You stumble out of the bed, your legs wobbly, feeling as if you did a hardcore work out you nearly wince. What the man did was something you swore was only in porn. You don't know what kind of magic fucked him over while he works on cars but his fingers were skilled.
“Woah, woah,” Tom came over to you. Plaid boxers and no shirt, you think you died and went to heaven. Your car exploded and you died and went to heaven and if this is what it was then you were perfectly okay with that. “You okay?”
You nod, sitting at the island and only watching him. You knew you had to say a word soon but you didn't know what to say.
“Not so sure how you liked your eggs so I made them scrambled because that's personally how I like them but I can make them any other way you like-” he starts to go off and you only nod.
“No, I like scrambled.” When was the last time you had a breakfast like this? You grew up with servants and your parents are always gone. You never had a breakfast as simple as this.
He gave you a smile, you walked over to the coffee machine and poured coffee into the mug that was already out.
“Not sure if you were a coffee or tea type of person, if you-” before you could listen to his ramble again you shook your head.
“I like coffee. Coffee for the morning and tea typically in the evening.” you tell him and he gives a smile and a sweet nod.
“Me too.” was all he said before he remembered what was happening. “Hey, when do you have to be at that business trip? Or whatever it was?” you nearly spit out the coffee as he brings it up. You knew everything that was happening but honestly you were holding on to the concept you died and went to heaven but you had a conference in probably an hour and who the hell knows where you are.
“You know what,” your heart suddenly calms down. The panic subsides as you take another sip of that coffee. “Fuck them. They have waited for others before and they can wait for me. Fuck the trip, fuck the car and fuck my ex.” you felt good saying it. Tom slid you a plate of eggs and toast and you smiled.
“The car is still better than the train?” He remembers how all of this is about you and your ex fighting and you not wanting to sit on the train next to him.
With a smile, with everything that had happened within the past 24 hours, you pick up the plate and turn to tom.
“I don't think I should've taken the train.”

Diamonds
Pairing: Steve Rogers x (female!)reader
Summary: You knew exactly how to push Steve’s buttons.
Word Count: 4000-ish.
Warnings: +18 SMUT (don’t read if you’re a minor), dom!Steve, slight daddy!kink if you squint, rough intercourse, no protection (wrap it before you tap it), reckless driving (don’t do it, kids.), cursing
A/N: I’ve been posting a lot of content. We’ll see how long I’m able to keep the creative juices flowing. Quarantine’s got me all fucked up, but at least it’s given me time to waste on Tumblr. Enjoy :)
Steve was angry. He was fucking pissed off, to be exact and it was all because of you. You knew it, felt the way his eyes drilled holes in your back all night. You could practically sense him fuming from across the club, even though the darkness as a result of the smoke machine near the spinning table engulfed you and the 150 other people in the room.
Of course, it was Tony’s idea to rent one of the fanciest clubs in NYC for the night. You’d completed a very big mission just a few weeks ago, and after everyone had time to heal in the medical bay and file the appropriate paperwork, the case was closed at last, and he insisted on a celebration unlike any other.
Bottles of champagne flowed across the dancefloor. Sweaty bodies of special agents, paper pushers from the lowest possible level and Avengers alike, all pressed up against each other in the room hotter than what you imagined hell to be like. You didn’t even fucking feel like going when Tony first proposed the idea, but everybody knew you couldn’t say no to him. Nobody could say no to him and his lavish parties. Not to mention the fact that you never wanted to go and yet you always managed to be the last to leave. You blamed the alcohol.
He’d hired the best DJ in town. His tunes kept you on your feet despite the fact that they were starting to get sore, hips swaying sensually to the music in between Natasha and some random level 3 agent whose name you couldn’t remember for the life of you. He was just as tall as you in your patent leather Louboutins, his hair swept carelessly to one side. He clearly hadn’t changed after work, because he still had his SHIELD pin mended to his breast pocket. You’d just pulled his tie to drag him closer to you, which earned another hard glare from Steve. Everybody in the fucking room knew you were his, they didn’t even dare to come close to you, but this guy was clearly wasted and you’d initiated it.
You could feel level 3′s dick through his pants while he continued to grind against your ass, just as you did to Natasha. You smiled, bopping your head along to the song, your curly hair bouncing lusciously up and down. A quick glance towards the bar made you snicker soundlessly, afraid he’d be able to hear you despite the loud music and people singing along. The thought of him being able to smell the perfume on your skin, his favorite, from all the way over there made your heart flutter and your stomach tighten.
He looked fucking good. Hair slicked back, deep red button-down loosened at the top tucked tightly into dark denim. He hadn’t shaved, he knew damn well how much you liked that, and his eyes weren’t so blue anymore in the strobe lights that illuminated him every twenty seconds. They looked black as if his pupils had bled into his irises.
You’d put effort into your appearance too, he could tell in an instant. Your lipgloss sparkled the same as the diamond necklace he had given you that hung around your neck. He remembered buying it for you, eyes nearly rolling out of his fucking skull when the guy that helped him pick it out told him the price. Your dress, black and short, had a split so high he was certain he could see your pussy if you made a wrong move, meaning level 3 could see it too.
He downed another glass of scotch, slamming it down on the bar with a growl so low only Bucky could hear it. He shook his head at his friend, who also refused to get on the dancefloor. The way 21st-century people danced was unlike anything they were used to seeing back in their day. He couldn’t get drunk, but Steve could taste the alcohol on his tongue and the warmth of it in the back of his throat when he gulped another glass down. He hadn’t even noticed Bucky left him for Bruce, who also wasn’t dancing. Didn’t give a fuck, either way. All he had eyes for was you, showing off his money like it was yours, to begin with.
You didn’t do that often. You were humble, wore jeans and a t-shirt on most days, didn’t indulge much. You tried to live sustainably where possible through recycling and cruelty-free beauty products. Hell, Steve had only actually seen you wear the necklace a handful of times, including your aunt’s wedding just to piss her off and make her jealous. He knew you had money too, it was a perk of being an Avenger, but spending money on yourself wasn’t the same as lavish gifts from your handsome as fuck boyfriend. Besides, you donated a lot of it to animal shelters and safe houses for women.
“The party’s out there, you know?”
You gulped, skin-crawling in fear when Steve appeared out of the bathroom stall without warning. How long he’d been hiding the bathroom you didn’t know, but he knew it was you the second you pushed open the door and stepped inside.
He could smell that guy on you as you stood in front of him, cheeks red from dancing and stray hairs sticking out from the sea of curls. It made his fists curl, his brow crease. He was mad as hell.
“You scared me,” you said exasperatedly, blood rushing to your cheeks when he stepped out of the shadows and into view.
He didn’t smile back to you, which told you exactly how the night was going to go down.
“You havin’ fun?” He asked, walking around you in a circle after you stepped away from the dirty mirror.
He wanted to drink you in, take in your appearance while you still looked put together. Soon enough, the charade would be over and he’d have your make up smeared, clothes on the floor and your hair a mess.
“Yeah,” you smirked, “you?”
“Not yet,” he growled in your ear, “but I will.”
He’d disappeared as quickly as he’d appeared, leaving you leaning against the dusty sink, breathing deeply in and out through your nose. When you trusted in your ability to stand up without tripping over your own feet, you grabbed your lipgloss from your purse, along with your perfume, of which you added two more spritzes. You didn’t want him to know how easily he was able to get to you, how easily he was able to make you shake.
He had a plan, concocted it while drinking expensive scotch at the bar. Steve came up with it while he was watching you grind on another man. He knew why you did it, you wanted to get a rise out of him, and getting a rise out of him was exactly what you did. Of course, he could do the same to you, which is why he left you stumbling in the bathroom with nothing but a promise he intended to keep.
You returned to the floor after getting another vodka sprite from the other end of the bar. He noticed how empty your wrist was and told himself he’d buy you a diamond bracelet to match the necklace. You’d like that. He’d fuck you raw and stupid after giving it to you, just like he did when he gave you the necklace.
Even when you were starting to get a buzz, you could still feel his fucking eyes on you, never leaving your swaying hips, bouncing tits and shaking ass. For a moment, the two of you made eye contact. Instantly, you knew you were screwed. You could read him like a book.
“Steve,” you gasped when his hands tightly gripped your waist suddenly, “you’re dancing.”
He was on the dancefloor, yeah, but the man was hardly dancing. The only thing he was moving was his hips against your ass. He didn’t need to tell Level 3′s sorry ass to fuck off, the look on his face had the young man scrambling away in fear immediately. Natasha had left minutes before, busying herself with the hottest bartender in the club while he poured her a dirty martini with five olives.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” He whispered in your ear, lips pushing against soft flesh. His beard scratched your throat, sending delicious tingles down your entire spine.
“What do you mean?” You asked, pretending to be oblivious, “I’m not doing anything.”
Steve’s hand caressed your hip, snaking around the front to touch your barely clothed pussy. Your cheeks reddened, eyes frantically searching for anyone who might be watching but finding none. Everyone around you was either drunk or making out.
“What are you doing Steve?!” You hissed, biting your tongue, “Someone might see us.”
“I don’t care. This is what you wanted, isn’t it?” he asked, kissing the side of your face and neck, “it is, I know it.”
He dragged you out of the club and into his BMW, harshly securing your seatbelt before getting behind the wheel. His knuckles were white against the steering wheel the entire drive, and you could see him straining against his pants. You didn’t say anything, the only sound audible being the angrily revving engine of his car. He was flooring it the whole way there, ignoring red lights and swerving around every car on the road that was in his way.
“See how it feels when you tease me,” he mumbled, “you’re gonna be fucking sorry real soon.”
“No,” you stammered, “please.”
He sat down on the bed, grabbing your wrists and yanking you down over his lap. You kicked your heels in the air in an attempt to get free from his iron grasp, but he only needed one hand to restrain you while the other traveled up the back of your legs so slowly it made you want to cry. His hand disappeared under your dress and found no panties, just as he expected. He knew you too well.
“You’re real bad, aren’t you?” He asked, retrieving his hand back so he could pull the dress up to expose your naked pussy, “did you think I was gonna let you get away with what you just did to me?”
“I didn’t do anything!” you mewled, “I swear.”
“Grinding up on that guy all night? Letting him touch you in front of me? How dare you?”
He caressed your ass, tracing his fingers over your lips before smacking both cheeks without warning. You squirmed, wiggling on top of him. You’d seen him angry before but only on rare occasions; either when he was chasing after bad guys, or when you’d pissed him off and this time, you’d pissed him off real good. Just like you wanted to do.
“Don’t you dare move against my dick,” he said with a tug on your hair, “or you don’t get to cum.”
He plunged three fingers into your mouth, silently ordering you to suck on them while he continued to keep your wrists bound. You already knew what was going to happen and it took every ounce of strength for you not to move. He chuckled when you nibbled on his fingers, coating each and every one of the three with your saliva.
He plunged them into you without warning. You cried out, unable to stop yourself from trying to break from his grip on you. You were already wet, probably didn’t even need the saliva, but it helped his fingers glide in so easily it made him want to laugh. You were putty in his hands and he knew it. How the hell had he gone from being little, insecure, baby Steve to this man, this unrelenting, unforgiving force of a man?
“Shut up,” he growled, picking up the pace, “did I tell you you could make noise?”
“N-no,” you stammered, “no Steve.”
His fingers left your cunt before you could properly enjoy it. You knew why he did it; he was getting you ready for his cock. You’d had it countless times in places you couldn’t even recall, had it gently and so hard you couldn’t talk after, but you always needed time to adjust.
He grabbed ahold of your legs with his slick-coated fingers and picked you up, effortlessly tossing you onto the bed like a ragdoll. You heaved, hair already beginning to stick to your forehead while you watched him slowly unbutton his shirt.
“What do I keep telling you about pissing me off, huh?” He taunted, slipping the shirt over his broad shoulders.
“I told you not to do that,” his pants were next, falling limply at his feet after he unzipped and unbuttoned them, “but you don’t listen. You don’t listen because you like what happens when I’m mad, don’t you?”
“No, I’m sorry,” you breathed, gazing up at him through fake eyelashes, “I didn’t mean to-”
You weren’t sorry. You enjoyed this, this side of Steve. Loved it even, how sometimes, he was able to let go of his own righteousness and give in to his darkness. It had taken almost a year of being in a vanilla relationship for him to show you this side of him, and you’d ached for it ever since. You did it on purpose, grinding with other people, dressing up in clothing inappropriate for the occasion. Short skirts, tight blouses, and fuck, those sheer black stockings with the black stripe running along the back of your heel to your panties. Short shorts and cropped tops in the summer, so short they nearly showed off your fucking tits. He hated it because men worldwide couldn’t help but look at you even though you were his and his alone. You were his prized possession.
“Don’t lie to me.”
“You know,” you answered smugly, “I could feel his erection on my ass the whole time.”
Steve growled, pushing your back into the mattress before starting towards you.
“I told you what happens when you make me angry,” he said, lowering himself onto the bed until he was straddling you, one leg on each side of your trembling hips, “you know what happens, don’t you?”
“Yes, Steve,” you moaned, rocking your hips up against him.
You gripped his bicep, but once again, he used his hand to bind your wrists, this time holding them above your head, “You gonna be good for me and apologize?”
“Yes,” you cried out, “I’m sorry!”
You still weren’t. In fact, you had to fight the urge to grin. You had him right where you wanted him, despite his hold on you. You wanted him to fuck you until you couldn’t see straight and he was going to give it to you either way.
He let go of you, hands traveling across the diamonds around your neck. He ripped the necklace from your throat in one single motion, earning a gasp and a loud ‘what the fuck?!’ from you when it snapped in half. He tossed it to the ground as if it was trash, discarding it like it hadn’t cost him the price of a house.
“Daddy’s gonna buy you a whole lot more diamonds if you’re good,” he whispered, “Is that what gets your little pussy dripping? Me spending my hard-earned money on you? Answer me!”
“Fuck yes,” you replied, “shoes, too. And a car.”
He laughed, taking your clothed tits and rubbing them before ripping the silk dress in half with his bare hands.
“What do you need a car for? You don’t even drive. I do. I’m like your fucking private chauffeur, always driving you around.” He was right about that.
You smirked, “want you to fuck me in it.”
Steve began to grow tired of your mind games. His dick was hard as granite, as were his bulging muscles, and he needed a release fast. He’d go back to being sweet old Steve after he got what he wanted, but for now, he was a man in heat, needing to take what was rightfully his. One of the busted diamonds pierced the skin on your ass when you found yourself laying on it, but you didn’t care. You welcomed the sting.
Steve rolled you over until you were on your stomach. With one arm around your throat in a chokehold, he lifted up your body, taking you in a position that could almost be classified as Doggystyle. He lined himself up with your entrance, enjoying the lovely sight and the sweet smell of your pussy dripping just for him. Your love for him was like a fucking disease and unfortunately, it turned out to be terminal. You ached with anticipation while he dragged the head of his cock along your entrance, back and forth between your pussy lips.
The air was taken from your lungs when he shoved himself inside you, not wasting any time with pleasantries and soft-spoken words. He bit down on your shoulder, earning a loud moan to escape your lips. He wasn’t gentle, this wasn’t making love, but it was what you both desired and he was more than happy to give it to you.
You whined breathlessly, pussy clenching around the length of his cock as he drove into you.
“Could’ve just told me you wanted me to fuck you,” he groaned, “’stead of makin’ me all mad at Tony’s party.”
You wanted to tell him off and if you would, he’d probably have to tell you you were right because he never did this unless he had a reason, but your mouth remained shut instead. Steve was a softy at all times, sweet and gentle and a true gentleman, except for when you brought out the beast in him.
He grabbed your hair, yanking it so your body stood flush against his. You could feel him, every inch of his marvelous abs expanding and contracting and his hips, slapping against your ass with each thrust. You arched your back into him, exposing your neck to his lips. He began to suck on your skin immediately, leaving marks that would last for days on your beautifully soft skin. This pulled another sinful moan from your glossy lips.
You turned your head, forcing his head towards your face with your free hand while the other grasped the one on your hip. You kissed him hard, lips and teeth and tongues crashing together. You could taste the scotch on his breath and he caught a whiff of your strawberry lip gloss. You smiled into his mouth, taking his bottom lip between your teeth and biting down on his skin. They’d see the bruise in the morning, although come afternoon, the serum would’ve taken care of it. You hoped somebody would see.
“Goddamnit,” he cursed after tasting blood, hand around your hair loosening before sliding down the length of your body in search of your clit, “gonna make you cum so hard you can only say my name.”
He wiped the blood from his mouth with the back of his hand and slapped your ass with it before resting it on your hip so he could get a better grip.
You whimpered when his fingers made contact, another moan drawn from you when he began to rub the sensitive bud forcefully. You couldn’t hold on much longer.
“Want you to say it,” he ordered, “say my name. Say it right now.”
“Steve,” you cried out so loud you were sure whoever had the room next to his could hear, “oh, fuck Steve!”
Don’t stop,” he rubbed faster, “keep saying it. Gonna fuck my name from your brain, fuck it right out.”
“Steve,” you squeaked, “Steve, Steve, Steve.”
You grabbed the wrist of the hand on your clit and dug your nails into his skin, whining his name over and over until you couldn’t stand the tightening of your stomach any longer.
“Don’t stop saying it,” he commanded, “I didn’t give you permission to stop.”
You did as told while he continued to ram his cock deep into you, grunts escaping from his lips while he pounded into you at an unforgiving pace. Your throat would be sore in the morning, but you didn’t stop, chanting his name over and over like a prayer.
“You gonna cum all over my dick, huh?” He throbbed inside of you, panting harshly against your lips.
“Want you to cum inside me, Steve,” you dug your nails into him, “give me your fucking cum right now.”
“Fuck,” he groaned, “I’m gonna give you my fucking cum.”
You loved drawing profanities from a man who didn’t curse. It was like a game to you, seeing how many curses you could squeeze out of America’s golden boy before he’d collapse on top of you. You loved how dirty he could be behind closed doors, loved the contrast between the sweet and gentle Steve that held your hand in public and this monster of a man who bought you expensive things and fucked you senseless with his thick cock afterward. He loved it too, didn’t even know it until you pissed him off for real one time and it just happened out of the blue, but after that, he hadn’t looked back. It came so naturally, he was afraid of himself sometimes, but then he’d see that blissful sheen, that fucked out look on your face and the smile you wore just for him and he was instantly reminded of why he did it.
Because it felt good.
You already knew you’d be bruised when you’d wake up next to him in the morning from the way his fingers grasped you tightly, but you loved it, knowing you carried his markings under your clothing and you were sure he loved it too.
He didn’t stop, not even when you’re moaning his name so loud it’s almost deafening. He didn’t stop when your pussy clenched painfully around his dick, didn’t stop when you began to tremble and shake so hard he thought you were having a fucking fit. You started moving away from him in an attempt to ease the overbearing sensation of his fingers still forcefully rubbing on your clit, but he simply yanked you back against him, sweat-covered biceps flexing while his thrusts became so sloppy he could hardly stay upright. You gripped the headboard so tight you thought it would splinter.
His cum shot up into you in hot spurts, coating your walls in it while he rode out his orgasm. His hand finally left your pussy, allowing you to breathe in what felt like ages.
“Jesus,” the drawl of his voice sounded like music to your ears, “you’re gonna be the death of me.”
Smiling sweetly at the man beside you, you pressed your lips softly to his burning cheek. Then, you rested your head on his shoulder, allowing his arm to engulf you and pull you flush to his heaving body. You sure managed to cause Captain America to work up a sweat.
He inspected the purple spots on your neck and looked down, eyes scanning the dark red marks on your hips that were there to stay for at least a few days. He’d learned to accept them, to love them, but he hated the idea of hurting you at first. You had to remind him each time that you were completely okay with it, that it didn’t actually hurt in a bad way.
“I’m sorry about the diamonds,” he offered, looking at the discarded Cartier on the floor, “and the dress.”
“Should be,” you mumbled, eyes closing at the sound of his heartbeat in your ear, “those weren’t cheap.”
It wasn’t even your money that just went to waste. Hell, they could probably fix it up at the store, but that wasn’t a part of the game. It wasn’t good enough.
“I’ll buy you new ones,” he kissed your forehead, “I told you I would.”
The next day, he did indeed buy you a new diamond necklace. And a diamond bracelet. And earrings.
Now, all you needed was a ring to match.

Live a Little
My piece for Day 2 of TGGTVAV Week! @tggtvav-week
Dreams | Historical AU | Side Character (Read on AO3)
This party is giving me a tremendous sense of deja vu. It’s the after-party for this year’s Annual Sportspeople of the Year Awards. Monty and I were both nominated for Best Footballer and for Best Media Personality, whatever that even means. Neither of us won either. I don’t care, not really (The player that did win Best Footballer scored two-thirds as many goals as Monty this season… but again. I don’t care.)
The same old formal wear, the same faces. I feel like I’m always at this bloody party. I’m standing in a corner with Monty, who is frowning down into his alcohol-free cocktail. I give him a consolatory nudge.
“Next year.”
“Hmm?” He looks up at me, then laughs. “Oh god. I don’t care. I’m just wondering who on Earth came up with the idea of a virgin mojito.”
“You could always drink tap water, you know.”
“Thrilling.”
I roll my eyes and he sidles up to me, pressing himself against my chest so that he has to stretch his neck to look up at me.
“Let’s go hooooome.”
“Why do you even bother coming to these events if you get bored after an hour?”
“Because I get to see you all dressed up, mostly.” I laugh and he pouts. “Next time, we stay home, and you put on a tuxedo anyway.”
“That would be a waste. You’d take it off within minutes.”
“That’s the fun of it!”
I smirk and lean down to kiss his forehead. “We won’t stay late. It’s good for me to do the rounds at these things. For the Foundation.”
“I suppose,” he says with a sigh, but he doesn’t move away, just buries his face in my chest.
I smile and stroke his hair, then I look up as someone walks over— my heart sinks. Richard Peele. The only man on Earth who doesn’t manage to look attractive in a tux. I nudge Monty slightly and he stands up straight.
“Incoming,” I mumble as Richard approaches. Monty turns to see him, then swears under his breath.
“Boys!” Richard says, his grin as cocky as ever. His aftershave is overpowering. Not for the first time, I wonder how Monty ever hooked up with him without gagging.
“Richard,” Monty greets him, more politely than he deserves.
“Congratulations on your awards!” He fake gasps, clutching his hands to his chest. “Oh wait! You didn’t get any.”
“Peele…” I raise an eyebrow at him. “You weren’t even nominated.”
He shrugs. He looks drunk. “Wouldn’t have wanted a nomination. Whole thing is shit anyway.”
“Well, we’re agreed there.”
“So, what are you two doing hiding away in a corner? Up to no good? What’s the current favourite, Montague? Coke? Speed? I remember your speed phase fondly. You used to be able to go for—“
“Oh, piss off Richard,” Monty cuts in, trying to look unbothered. But I know he isn’t. “Don’t you have any actual friends to talk to?”
I put my arm around Monty’s waist, protectively, and he leans into me. Richard rolls his eyes.
“Got plenty of friends, thanks. Just wanted to check in on everyone’s favourite couple.”
“Well, now you have.” I say, giving him a pointed look. “See you around.”
He curls his lip at me, stepping closer. He’s taller than Monty, but not taller than me. I have a couple of inches on him, but he’s clearly too wasted to be intimidated by this fact.
“You don’t scare me, Newton. We’re not on the pitch now. You can’t accidentally elbow me in the face this time.”
No, but I can definitely punch you on purpose, I think to myself.
I don’t say anything. He huffs, then turns to Monty. “If you ever get bored of this fairy,” he points to me. “And fancy a go with a real man again, you’ve still got my number.”
Monty blinks at him. “I’ll bear that in mind. Cheers.”
Richard gives him a leery look up and down, before giving me one last glare, then stalking away. I can feel Monty’s shoulders tense up where he’s leaning against me, and I’m not much better myself, so I take a deep breath and try to relax.
“Christ. He’s like a cartoon villain.”
“Was he always that ugly?” Monty looks up at me. “I swear he didn’t used to be that ugly. I categorically do not sleep with ugly people.”
“Maybe your standards just got higher after you met me.” He laughs slightly. But it sounds stilted. I squeeze his waist. “Don’t let him get to you.”
“I’m not.”
I raise my eyebrows at him.
“Okay! I am. Slightly.” He sips his drink, pulling a face. “It’s hard not to be bothered when one of your most shameful regrets can walk and talk and embarrass you at parties.”
“He’s just someone you hooked up with. It’s not that big of a deal.”
He scoffs. “You look like you want to scream every time his name is mentioned.”
“Well… he’s…”
“Rude? Obnoxious? Untalented?”
“He makes you feel bad about yourself. I don’t like it.”
Monty pauses at that, reaching out and squeezing my hand.
“You’re the one he called a fairy.”
“Fairy and proud,” I say with a shrug. Monty laughs.
“I love you.”
“Love you, too.” I tug at his hand, pulling him away. “Let’s find you something less disgusting to drink”.
We’re standing at the bar, Monty trying to get the perfect selfie while the bartender makes our drinks. He leans into me, trying to get my face into the photo and I smirk.
“Aren’t people bored of seeing me on your Instagram?”
“Why would anyone ever get bored of seeing this face?” He gently bites my cheek, taking another few photos, then finally brings the phone down to review the results. “God, we’re hot.”
I laugh. “Is that what you’re captioning it?”
He starts typing. “Well, now I am.”
I grin and nudge him, then frown when I spot something on the bar a small distance away. A set of keys. I reach over and grab them.
“Someone left their keys.”
“Mmm,” he replies, still busy making his post. “Hand them in.”
I shrug, about to get the bartender’s attention, when Monty glances up then gasps, grabbing my arm.
“Wait.” He snatches the keys from me. “Look!”
He holds them up in front of my face and I frown. “What?”
He huffs, then points at the car key. It has a very tacky leather tag hanging off it, with a gaudy metal Lamborghini logo.
“These are Peele’s car keys!”
I laugh. “God, he really is drunk. We should probably keep hold of them so he doesn’t try to drive home”
Monty winces slightly, and I immediately feel bad, but then he shakes it off. “Don’t you see what an opportunity this is, Perce?”
I give him a look. “Opportunity?”
“Yes! We have that prick’s car keys!” He looks at them, sighing happily. “His beloved Lamborghini.”
I laugh. “And?”
“And! We could play all sorts of tricks on him. We could break into it. Leave his lights on. Drain his battery.”
“You are truly wild.”
He huffs. “Well, what’s your suggestion?”
“My suggestion was handing them in!”
He rolls his eyes, dumping them on the bar again and returning his attention to his phone. I pick up the keys, turning them over in my hands, and I think back to ten minutes ago, when Richard dragged his eyes over Monty’s body. My Monty’s body. Suddenly the need to piss him off is overwhelming.
Why do I always have to be the sensible one?
“However…” Monty looks up at me, raising an eyebrow. “I have always wanted to drive a Lamborghini.”
* * * *
We manage to sneak out without drawing too much attention (and without spotting Richard), taking the lift to the car park beneath the building.
His car isn’t hard to spot. Bright yellow amongst the sea of silver and white Mercedes and BMWs. We walk over to it and Monty looks unimpressed, leaning down to scrub at a little scuff with his sleeve.
“This car is a midlife crisis.”
I laugh. “He’s 26.”
“Well, it’s definitely compensating for—“
“I don’t want to know,” I cut in, leaning down to look in the windows. “I think it’s gorgeous.”
“Really?” He folds his arms, tilting his head at the car. “It’s no Porsche.”
“I swear you love that car more than you love me.”
“Absolutely not.” He walks over and leans down to where I’m crouching to kiss me on the cheek. “But it’s a close second.”
I smile, then hold up the keys. “So? Shall we?”
He frowns. “You were serious?”
“Why not?”
“Well, for a start… you can’t drive, Perce.”
I scoff, pressing the key unlocking the doors. “I’ve had some lessons. And I haven’t had a seizure in a year. Anyway, it’s an automatic. How hard can it be?”
I start to climb into the driver’s seat and Monty grabs my arm. “Perce!”
“Come on!” I grin at him. “Live a little.”
He furrows his brow, but then lets me go, and I slide into the seat, pulling the door shut behind me. A couple of moments later, Monty opens the passenger door and climbs in, mumbling to himself.
“I’ve lived plenty. This is just stupid.”
I look around the car, taking it in. Monty’s car is gorgeous, but this is next level. Every bell and whistle included. It’s a shame it smells like Richard’s pungent aftershave.
I put the key in the ignition and Monty flinches.
“Are you sure, baby?”
I start the engine, and then I grin at him. It must be contagious, because after a pause, he grins right back at me.
“Go on then,” he says, with a resigned shrug. “Show me what you can do.”
I surprise myself. Driving is… surprisingly easy? And this thing can go fast. The roads are thankfully quiet, and I’m pretty sure I’m speeding, but the adrenaline rush is impossible to deny.
Monty is watching me, laughing at the look on my face as I narrowly avoid hitting another kerb. Okay, maybe driving is sort of hard.
“Jesus, Perce!”
“Oops.”
“I hope you’re enjoying your little crime spree. It might be the last thing we ever do.”
I laugh. “Oh, he’s wankered. We’ll take it back in a minute and he won’t even know it was gone.”
“True. As long as you don’t—“ He gasps as I very barely avoid scraping someone’s wing mirror at the side of the road. “Damage it!”
“I won’t!”
“You know what, I resent that you’ve turned me into the reasonable one tonight, but I think I should probably drive us back. Just in case.”
I pout at him. “Five more minutes? Oh, wait! I have an idea.”
I take a left, so sharply that Monty has to grab onto the car door to keep his balance. He shoots me an annoyed look, but I don’t acknowledge it. I’m trying desperately to remember a certain spot I know of around here, and I think I’m vaguely headed in the right direction.
Monty stops trying to object. I think he’s enjoying this really— watching me cut loose a bit. I glance at him and he bites his lip, giving me that look that usually ends with at least one of our trousers around our ankles. I look back out of the windscreen and grin to myself when I see what I was looking for.
I pull up in a parking spot, braking far too aggressively, and we both jolt forward.
Monty takes a long, deep, relieved breath as I put on the handbrake.
“See? No one died.”
“I’m definitely driving us back.”
I shrug, then motion out of the window. “Do you recognise this?”
“It’s a hill, Perce.”
I frown. “It’s Primrose Hill. Remember? We had a picnic here.”
He pauses, then smiles. “This is where you asked me to move in with you.”
“Yep!”
He looks at me. “Baby, you really are a wonder. Combining a bit of grand theft auto with a romantic trip down memory lane.”
I laugh. “The duality of Newton.”
“This is very sweet.” He reaches out and squeezes my knee, giving me a fond look. “Thank you.”
“I just… I don’t like it when people drag up your past. Like it’s all you are. You’re… this. You’re picnics, and house keys, and romance. You’re all of it.”
He swallows, looking surprised. “Baby…”
“Don’t let anyone ever convince you otherwise, okay? Especially not Richard sodding Peele.”
He nods, and his eyes look a little wet, then he reaches for my hand, holding it up to his lips and kissing my fingers. “Okay.”
We share a smile, then Monty turns away. I stare at him. He takes a while to notice, too busy gazing out of the window. When he finally turns back to me, he starts slightly.
“What?”
“Did you and him ever…?”
He frowns. “I thought we’d already established this, darling.”
“No. I know.” I nod towards the backseat. “In here?”
He turns a little red, then looks away again, which is answer enough.
“Great. Nice.”
Monty huffs, looking at me with a sheepish look on his face. “Only a blowjob or two...”
I roll my eyes, tapping my hands on the steering wheel and staring out at the view in front of us for a few seconds. Then I shrug.
“Then we’ll just have to do more than that. Won’t we?”
He pauses, then frowns. “Eh?”
I lean over the centre console and take his face in my hands, kissing him. After a brief pause, he sighs against my lips and kisses me back harder.
“You really—“ he speaks between kisses, breathless. “Want to?” He stops to nip at my jaw. “Right here?”
I groan. “More than anything.”
“Revenge shag?”
“Revenge shag,” I confirm, starting to pull his shirt out of where it’s tucked into his trousers.
“There’s…” He sighs as I start to kiss his neck. “People could see.”
I bite down slightly and he gasps. “The windows are blacked out.”
“There’s not much room.”
“I’m sure I’ll think of something.”
He gasps as I find the lever on his chair, pulling it until he’s practically horizontal, and then I clumsily clamber over onto his lap, my legs either side of his.
He laughs in surprise, putting his hands on my thighs. “What the hell has gotten into you tonight?”
“Nothing.” I grin. “Yet.”
After, I lie on Monty’s chest and I can feel the dopey smile on my face. He’s gently twisting one of my curls around his fingers as we catch our breath.
“That was fantastic,” I say with a sigh. It’s stating the obvious. It’s always bloody fantastic.
He kisses the top of my head. “Obviously.”
I look up at him. “Better than Peele?”
“Peele who?”
I laugh. “I’m being serious.”
“So am I. Never heard of him.”
“Damn right.”
I lean up to kiss him and he gently strokes my cheek, then we both jump when we hear a buzzing sound. Monty grimaces, fumbling around on the seat around us trying to find his phone.
“Who calls people?” He finds it and holds it up. “Ooooofe.”
He grimaces and turns the screen to me. Peele is calling. There’s an eye-roll emoji next to his contact name.
I grimace back at him. “Shit. Why would he be calling you?”
“Perhaps because he pissed us off and then his car disappeared?”
“Should you answer it? Maybe you should answer it.”
He scoffs. “And say what? Oh, your car? Yes, we stole it and just did something filthy on the expensive leather.”
“Well, no. You can lie. I’m pretty sure you’re capable of lying.”
“Ouch! True. But ouch.” He takes a deep breath, then answers. “Richard!”
I hear muffled, angry talking. Monty bites on his lip to stop from laughing, before trying to get a word in between the ranting.
“Richard, I— What do you mean? Which car?” The muffled talking gets louder and Monty grins. “Oh, that car! Well, how did you manage to lose that? Seems pretty irresponsible.”
“Very careless,” I whisper in agreement.
Monty puts a hand over my mouth, still smiling, then suddenly his face falls. “Tracking device?”
My eyes widen. Shit. Shit shit. Of course, there’s a tracking device. This car is top-of-the-range ridiculous.
“Well, that’s good then.” Monty continues, somehow managing to sound calm and collected. “You’ll find it easily. Good luck!” He hangs up. “We need to get out of here. Immediately. He’s waiting for a cab and he knows where the car is”
I scramble off of him as quickly as I can, climbing back into the driver’s seat and looking for my clothes. “Shit, shit, shit.”
Monty does the same, laughing. I shoot him a look.
“What’s so funny?”
“You. Panicking. Naked.”
I find this shirt and throw it at his face. “Twat.”
I find my boxers and pull them on, and Monty picks his own up from where they were discarded in the well of the passenger seat. I suddenly have a thought, and reach out to grab his arm before he can pull them on, too.
“Wait.”
I snatch them from him and he gives me an extremely confused look. I lean over into the back seat and place them on the leather, stretching them out so that they’re nice and displayed.
“A departing gift for our gracious host.”
Monty cackles, throwing his head back. “You’ve completely lost your mind.”
I grin at him. “Is it a problem?”
He pulls me in for a wet, sloppy kiss. “Absolutely not. Now come on.” He pushes me away again and starts pulling on his suit trousers. “We have to clear out of here before—”
There’s a sudden, loud sound, like fabric ripping. We both freeze. I look down and see that the button of Monty’s trousers has caught on the corner of the passenger seat. The leather has torn dramatically, showing the foam underneath. Turns out even the most expensive, luxury cars are no match for Monty’s clumsy streak.
I look up at him. “Before what, love?”
He closes his eyes, taking a deep breath. “Well, this has turned into a very expensive night out.”
“We can afford it.” He opens his eyes, then narrows them at me. “I’m aware that’s not the point.”
“This was your idea, you know. You decided to have a naughty streak, and now we have to buy— No. Actually. You have to buy Richard bloody Peele a new car.”
I scoff. “It’s just a little rip. It’s not like we’ve trashed it.”
And then… I picture it; Richard, hopping in an uber to where his little tracking device is pointing him, furious, that spiteful face all red and flushed. He gets here and Monty and I are long gone, his beloved Lamborghini is… trashed. The windows are smashed. The seats are ripped to shreds. And Monty’s Tom Ford pants are on the backseat.
I smile.
“We should trash it.”
Monty laughs, pulling on his shirt. “I’m cutting you off. No more carnage. We’re going to go home, you’re going to have one of your sad little sleepy teas, then we’re going to bed.”
“Montttyy,” I whine, and he gives me an incredulous look. “It’ll be funnnn!”
“Of course it would be fun! It would also land us in prison.”
“No one would know it was us!”
He points to the underwear on the back seat. “Have you never seen CSI?”
“Since when were you such a spoilsport?”
He stares at me, one eyebrow raised in challenge, then slowly reaches down and tugs at the rip in the seat, making it even wider.
“Oops.”
I grin, turning around in my seat and looking for something to break. I look back forward, spotting the rear view mirror, then I lean up and grab it, yanking at it hard until it snaps off in my hand.
Monty gapes at me.
“Holy shit.”
I grin at him. “Shall we see what else we can break in the next five minutes?”
The answer is quite a lot, apparently. The seats are torn to shreds. The dashboard is cracked. Monty has scraped a key all along the exterior. And I’m currently working on burning holes in the leather seats with the dashboard lighter, still wearing nothing but my underwear.
Suddenly, I hear a very high pitched shriek. I abandon the lighter and scramble out of the car to check on Monty, who was halfway through trying to pull off one of Richard’s wiper blades. He’s now ducked down, hiding behind the bonnet of the car. I quickly join him.
“What?”
“He’s here! I just saw an uber.”
“Shit. How did he get here so quickly? Maybe we were shagging longer than we thought?”
He hisses at me. “Not really relevant right now, Perce. More worried about getting out of here without him seeing us.”
I grimace. “I left my clothes in the car.”
“Then I guess you’re streaking. Come on.”
He quickly glances over the hood of the car, then once he decides the coast is clear, he grabs my hand and pulls me up.
And then we immediately collide with Richard Peele.
He seems to have snuck up from the other direction and well… he doesn’t look terribly happy.
“What—“ He’s so angry, he can barely get his words out. “In the name of fu—“
“Richard!”
God bless Monty for attempting to be charming, even at a time like this.
“Awful news! Someone was trying to damage your car. Me and Percy scared them off.”
“How stupid do you think I am, Montague?”
“I don’t think you want me to answer that.”
Richard hisses through his teeth, stepping closer to Monty, and I decide it’s time to intervene, standing in front of him protectively. .
“Don’t even think about it.”
He curls his lip, looking me up and down. “Why are you naked?” He glances back at the car, then at me again, his face turning white. “Did you two...“
I smirk. “Twice.”
(It’s a lie. But he doesn’t need to know that.)
He looks like he wants to throw up. Then he pulls back his fist— but he’s still tipsy, and his reflexes are slow. So, I take a step back to dodge his punch, before reeling my own fist back to throw one of my own.
It connects with his nose. Hard. Kickboxing is one of my favourite workouts and I’m twice as strong as he is. The result being that his nose starts to bleed instantly and he staggers backwards. Monty yelps behind me.
“Shit!”
He tries to pull at my arm but I ignore him.
“Not bad for a fairy, right Peele?”
“Perce!”
“Monty, it’s fine.”
“No! Percy! The car!”
He pulls my arm even harder and I finally turn around. The car. The fucking car is on fire.
“Jesus! What happened?”
“Not sure, but shall we try and figure it out somewhere further away from the flaming car?”
I let him drag me away and we take off at a sprint. Richard isn’t far behind us, trying to keep up.
“The lighter,” I shout to Monty. “I dropped the lighter on the seat!”
The amount of serious crimes I’ve committed today is becoming difficult to keep track of. Car theft. Reckless driving. Public Indecency. Assault. And now apparently a bit of semi-accidental arson. But are they really crimes if the only victim is Richard Peele?
“Save it for court!” Monty replies.
When I think we’re a safe distance away, I stop, pulling Monty to me. We’re both gasping, out of breath. I hear Richard coughing nearby. He must have inhaled some smoke.
I ignore him, pushing Monty’s hair out of his eyes, then cupping his face in my hands.
“Are you okay?”
He takes a deep breath. “Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. Are you?”
I grin. “I’m amazing.”
He smiles back, exasperated. “You’re a lunatic is what you are.”
“I love you.”
He shakes his head, then puts his hand behind my neck, pulling me down into a kiss. I lean into it, my hands sliding to his waist and dipping him slightly, making him laugh against my lips.
And then… there’s a loud bang.
I don’t get the chance to glance over at the car before we’re being thrown into the air by the force of the explosion.
* * * *
I wake up with a flinch so huge that the bed shakes. I hear Monty groan next to me.
“Baby, what…?”
Jesus Christ, that was vivid. I can still smell the smoke.
Monty rolls over to face me with a huff. “Perce?”
“Sorry.” I rub my face. “Sorry, I was…”
“Dream?” he asks, mid-yawn.
I pause, then smirk. “Dream.”
He stares at me for a second, then snorts. “Oh god, not the car one again.”
“The car one.” I shuffle over to him, pulling him closer so that our noses are touching. “It was a good one. This time I punched him.”
He gives a sleepy laugh. “This dream almost makes me feel sorry for the man…”
I raise an eyebrow at him. “Monty…”
“I mean. Your subconscious is regularly ruining his life! Just because he used to give your boyfriend the occasional hand job after a game…”
“Perhaps the next dream will be the one where I finally murder him.”
He laughs, leaning in to kiss me and placing his hands on my chest. “Your heart is still pounding.”
I blush. “It was fun. There was an explosion.”
He rolls his eyes. “We’re never watching Die Hard before bed again.”
I laugh, rolling on top of him and making him yelp.

Black with Two Sugars
@nalu-week NaLu Week Day 2 Squalor prompt- AU story
“Is there a reason you come to this place?” Gray asks his friend after they take a seat in a booth. “Do they have better coffee or something?”
“Black with two sugars, right?” a pretty blonde waitress walks up and puts a cup in front of Natsu before turning to the other male, “and sir what would you like to order?”
Caught off guard, “Oh, um,” squinting at the menu, “just give me an iced mocha.”
“Coming right up,” she smiles before heading back to the bar.
“Now do you see why I come here?” Natsu smirks, “it ain’t for the coffee.”
“Damn,” Gray sits back and crosses his arms, “how often do you come here, I mean we just sat down and she was already walking over with your drink?”
“Almost every day for about a month now,” relaxing and sipping his coffee, “and I come around this time because it’s the slowest point of her shift.”
Lucy walks back up and hands Gray his cup. “Anything else I can get you two?”
“Not right now,” Natsu smiles at her and holds up his drink, “perfect as ever Lucy.”
She blushes, “thank you. Well if you need anything just flag me down.” Natsu and Gray nod and she walks away.
“You ask her out yet?” Gray probes his friend.
“Nah, she’s kinda shy, wouldn’t wanna scare her off,” chuckling as he takes a sip of his drink while his eyes wander over to the front counter, “but I’m working up to it…”
Natsu yanks off his tie and tosses his suit jacket onto the passenger seat of his BMW, unfastening the top two buttons as well. He was thoroughly suited for his job as a broker in terms of personality, but he hated having to wear such confining ‘professional’ attire. At Dreyar & Dreyar, he was one of the top brokers and he did so well he practically came and go as he pleased, for as long as he made them all money, the boss didn’t care. Money was what he had to spare, yet he didn’t spend frivolously like others, sure he had a nice car and a very comfortable home, but he put even more away for a rainy day.
Up till now, Natsu had been happy, tons of friends, a great place to work at, a few girlfriends over the years but nothing serious, parties, vacations, he was living a dream, until he met her and suddenly all those things didn’t seem so satisfying anymore. It was really a fluke that he had stumbled onto the coffee shop while on his way to visit a client in the area. There was just something about the blonde that intrigued him, not just her fetching appearance, but the sweet and adorably shy personality. He had to stifle a chuckle when she blushed the entire time she was making his order, even came back later, coaxed and paid off one of her co-workers to give him her schedule.
Each day he would go to the little corner shop, set himself up in a booth, biding his time with a newspaper and waited until the other customers were gone before striking up a conversation with the blonde. Slowly but surely, she began to open-up, relaxing instead of looking at him through weary eyes, even smiling the moment he walked in the door, personal questions were still untouched but at least Lucy appeared to enjoy his company. It was two weeks into this quasi courtship that he finally got her to laugh wholeheartedly and that was when he decided she really could be the someone special he had been lacking in his life.
Time passed by, months of conversations over coffee or tea and while she learned things about him, she herself was still a mystery, never revealing much about her life that couldn’t otherwise be figured out by a glance. Too bad for Lucy, Natsu could be one stubborn and persistent guy when he saw something he wanted.
“Do you have plans for dinner?” Natsu leans forward, propping his head up with his hand. “You get off in an hour, right?”
“Why do you keep asking?” Lucy drops her gaze to the fidgeting fingers in her lap.
“Because I enjoy your company,” smiling, “and I would love to learn more about you Lucy.”
She was torn between the idea that someone like Natsu, a man who was well out of her league might genuinely be interested in her and yet worried that if he learned of her background, would quickly disappear out of her life again. That fear had kept her from letting herself fall, for surely, he was just being friendly and couldn’t be interested in a working-class girl. She knew guys like this in her past life and it scared her that he was simply toying with her. But here he was again, asking her out to dinner.
“Natsu, why are you so interested in me going to dinner with you?” a blush stealing away on her cheeks, “it’s nice to talk to you during my down times here but someone with your status, must have more interesting people to hang out with.”
He chuckles, “my status? What does that even mean?” Face growing serious, “Fine, do you want to know the real reason?” Lucy nods. “Call it a school boy crush on the pretty blonde waitress,” winking, “please Lucy, just a simple dinner date, I promise I’ll be a perfect gentleman.”
The blush darkens on her face, “N-nothing fancy right? Just some where to eat?”
“Just somewhere to eat.”
Sigh, “alright you win, Natsu, I’ll go…”
Natsu pulls into a stall and cuts the engine. “There’s some nice little places along the boardwalk, nothing fancy,” glancing at the nervous woman in the passenger seat, “I promise, just decent eats,” then proceeds to help her out of the car.
As they sit quietly eating their meal and making light conversation, Lucy couldn’t help but rewind back to the earlier comment he made at the coffee shop. This was the first time they were hanging out away from her workplace, where responsibilities and customers always hung over them, but here she had no easy means of squirming out of his questions, though at least he was very respectful not to pry. The truth is, she wanted to open up to this handsome man who’s taken such an interest in her, and yet the nagging doubts about her circumstances always roadblocked her. Lucy squirms a little in her seat.
“Are you okay,” he asks with genuine concern. It was clear to Natsu, that while she didn’t seem opposed to the idea of this dinner, there was clearly things on her mind.
“D-did you mean what you said earlier… about a crush?”
“Yes.”
“But, why?”
“What do you mean, why?” blinking at the question. “Is it really so hard for you to believe I might like you?”
“Yes,” fidgeting with her fingers, “I-I mean, there’s nothing special about me and I’m sure you meet lots of women that…”
He frowns, “I think you’re plenty special Lucy, it makes me sad that you think so lowly of yourself.”
“I’m just a waitress at a coffee shop making minimum wage, no siblings, my parents are both gone,” sigh, “I gave up on my dreams a long time ago.”
“What was your dream, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“To be a writer.”
“And why can’t you do that?”
“Writing takes a lot of time, research, then hoping someone will publish your work, but I have to work a lot of hours…” crossing her arms over her chest for support, “I simply can’t afford to pursue something like that.”
Natsu pulls out his wallet and throws more than enough bills to cover their meal. “Come on,” he stands up and holds out his hand, eyes softened, “let’s take a walk on the boardwalk, it’s nice at this hour and may help you relax.”
She takes his hand to stand up, but he doesn’t let it go. Her first instinct was to pull away but when he squeezes it gently and intertwines their fingers, Lucy is too surprised to do anything more than go along with it. They walk along the railing at a gingerly pace, as the salty air teases her senses. How long had it been since she’s seen the ocean, Lucy wondered, probably before her parent’s accident several years ago? Tears prick at her corners, so she stops to lean against the railing, and closes her eyes. The accident that had changed her life.
He looks over at the woman standing next to him, unquestioning when she’d suddenly stopped walking and now with her eyes closed tightly, it was painfully obvious that she was holding back tears. Lucy’s arms wrap around her body, shivering from the slight chill in the air and the painful memories coming back to haunt her, so Natsu takes his suit jacket and puts it over her shoulders.
“Thank you,” she whispers, still unable to open her eyes, “I’m sorry… I didn’t realize the ocean would bring up memories.”
“No need to apologize Lucy.” He wanted so badly to embrace her and make her pain go away, hands fisted at his sides. “But, if you’d like to talk about anything, I’m here for you.” Lucy’s head drops further down, and a few tears escape along her cheeks; it wasn’t the reaction he had hoped for. “Oh, shit, Lucy I didn’t mean to make you cry, please,” placing his hand on her arm before quickly retracting it, “don’t cry.”
She sniffles and turns her face to his, “It’s not your fault,” trying to muster a weak smile, “I’ll be okay, but c-could you take me home now? I must look like a mess.”
His heart drops. “Sure.”
Natsu couldn’t stop berating himself the entire ride. All he had wanted to do was take her out for a nice, simple dinner and hopefully get her to realize how much he genuinely liked her but now all he felt like was an ass. Of course, it wasn’t his fault, how could he have known taking her near the ocean would cause some kind of crappy memory to come back, but still, now she just wanted a ride back to the coffee shop claiming that her apartment was nearby, and she could just walk. Why was he trying so hard when she was resisting every step of the way? If it was for the simple notion that she just wasn’t interested, Natsu knew he would have just given up but there was something tugging at him, screaming at him, that it was much deeper and that made him all the more determined to reach her, protect her, love her. That’s it, isn’t it, he finally admits to himself, he really had fallen in love with a woman he barely even knew.
“Thank you for dinner Natsu,” she smiles lightly as she opens her door, “I assume I’ll see you tomorrow at the shop?”
“Most likely,” he smiles. As she steps out, “hey um Lucy,” pausing to hear what he has to say, “never mind, forgot what I was gonna say. Hope the rest of your night is better.”
“You too, bye Natsu,” she closes the door and starts walking down the block.
Natsu slaps himself, he shouldn’t have let it end like that, hell, he shouldn’t let her walk around on a New York street at night alone. Quickly getting out and locking the car, he heads off in the direction she went. He can still see her in the distance and follows, not catching up, but staying close enough not to lose her.
By the time they had travelled two blocks he was beginning to realize she had lied about living close to work and the more worried he was becoming, because another block later and they had reached an area where there were a lot of run down apartment buildings. Natsu speeds up his pace to a full sprint when he sees her walking into one of the buildings. Just great, he didn’t want to lose her inside.
Luckily for him, the door was not locked, and he got there just as she was heading up a flight of stairs, quietly following her to the 5th floor, and watched from around a corner as she entered an apartment, 3 doors down the hallway on their left. He leans against the wall for a moment, what was he doing? Was he there to make sure she got home safely? That had been his first objective, true, but once he realized the kind of place she was living in, did that change? So, she lived in a rundown apartment, he shouldn’t be so surprised, like she had said, she was just a waitress working at minimum wage, in a small coffee shop, but maybe knowing that, and seeing it for himself were two different things.
The smart things to do in this situation would be to leave. He didn’t want her to think he had stalked her back to her apartment, right? And it’s not like he had a good excuse to have tracked her down, she hadn’t forgotten anything in his car, had given him back the suit jacket once they were off the boardwalk. Natsu runs his hand down his face, yes, the smart thing would be to leave but his feet weren’t cooperating so that brings him back to the why was he still standing there? He wasn’t disgusted to find out her situation, no, it was the opposite he surmised, he was appalled that someone like her had to live like this. ‘She deserves so much better!’
Straightening out, Natsu marches over to her door and raises his hand to knock. ‘What am I doing?’ staying his hand. ‘What if… Ah, screw it all!’ He knocks on her door.
“Who is it?” a quiet voice calls out
“I-It’s me… It’s Natsu.”
“Natsu?” he hears locks and a chain being removed. “What are you doing here?” The door opens to reveal a very shocked woman still in her work clothes. “How did you find me?”
“Please don’t be angry,” raking his hand through his hair in a nervous action, “but can I come in to talk?” She pauses for a moment before moving out of the way to let him pass, then closing and locking the door. As she goes through those motions, he does a quick survey of the apartment. While it was a small, sparsely furnished abode, he could tell she had done her best to make it as nice as she probably could afford, but it was still just one step up from squalor and frankly, it broke his heart.
“So, why are you here?” Turning to face him. Natsu couldn’t tell if she was angry, irritated, or just surprised.
Exhale, “I told myself at first it was to just make sure you got home okay. I mean, it’s New York, it’s not safe for a woman, or anyone frankly to be walking alone. But then, when I saw where you were heading… this area…” he can see her eyes widening at the assumption, he quickly walks over and grabs her hands. “It’s not what I know you’re thinking.”
“How could you know what I’m thinking?”
“You think I’m disgusted by this place and therefore I must be disgusted with you.” All she can do is look down. “Lucy,” he forces her chin back up, “While I don’t like this place, it only makes me not want to see you in it… you deserve better…” tears are welling up in her eyes. “… you deserve so much more and,” exhale, “and I want to give that to you.”
“What? Natsu you can’t be serious,” she tries to pull away, but he pulls her into an embrace. With her face almost tucked against his chest and through her sniffles, “you barely even know me, and…”
“The truth is, I followed you because I wanted to tell you, I, I really like you Lucy,” tightening his hold on her, “all these months… I just… it started… I want to know you, the real you. I want to take away all your pain.” He can feel the wetness from her tears staining his shirt, but he doesn’t care. “I want to make you happy.”
“Natsu, this is crazy…”
He pulls back and wipes the tears away from her cheeks, smiling, “Lucy come with me, please let met take you out of here. You could work at Fairytail a few shifts if you want to, but if your dream is to be a writer, then, be a writer. I want to see you smile, and laugh, and free you from whatever is weighing on you. I have so much money but it’s worth anything if I don’t have someone special to share it with.”
The whole situation was just like the twilight zone, and for the first time that day, Lucy not only smiled but laughed, giggled like a normal girl and that made his heart skip. “Am I like Cinderella to you, and you’re a prince taking me from rags to riches?”
Natsu chuckles, “I guess that’s what a writer would think of,” sweeping his thumb against her cheek, “I think I’m starting to see the real you…” she blushes, “… and it is so beautiful inside and out.”
“Y-you really… want me… to be what, your girlfriend?”
Grinning, “Mmm, eventually my wife, but that’s a start.” She pushes away in embarrassment but Natsu sweeps in to capture her lips instead, melting her back into his chest. “So, what do you say Lucy,” brushing his lips against her cheek, “will you let me sweep you off your feet?”
“Right now?”
“Right now.”
“B-but what about my things?”
“You could just pack up a suitcase for now and I’ll send a moving team. So…”
Lucy takes a good look at her surroundings before her eyes land back on the man staring at her with such a mixture of hope and sincerity that it finally cracks the wall around her heart. “Okay.”
“Okay?”
She taps his chest and giggles, “go get your car while I pack before I change my mind.”
“I’m on it!” kissing her cheek before rushing towards the door.
“Oh, and Natsu?” he turns to see a genuine smile gracing her face. “Thank you.”
