And that’s a wrap for us at @humbercollege Site B! It’s great to finally see this area of @brookmcilroy ’s design for Humber College (we’re so proud to be a part of it!) come to fruition! Read on for further insight and take a visit there for the full experience! Stay tuned for the sculpture we’re working on at Site A! It’s going to be monumental!❤️⚓️ #woodanchor #exteriordesign #publicart . . . #Repost @brookmcilroy with @get_repost ・・・ The design for the Humber College Welcome Centre site is based on the Great Migration of the Anishinaabe Nation, which began with seven prophets who warned the people to leave or be destroyed. These seven prophecies are known as the Seven Fires. The journey of the Anishinaabe lasted seven generations with seven stops on the way, leaving their Eastern homelands, and travelling through the St. Lawrence River and Great Lakes, to end at Gitchi-Gameh (Lake Superior). The seven major stopping places are represented in the walkway installation to the Welcome Centre as large bronze discs etched with an abstraction of the topography of each stopping place. This series is about our work on the @humbercollege Indigenous Cultural Markers.
