Sacred Vows

Speech is a vehicle for vows, but the sacred vows we speak are more than just words. When we make a promise, a subtle yet powerful shift takes place in our souls where intentions are housed. A vow is both a tool we employ in order to facilitate transformation within ourselves and an expression of will. Thus, to make an oath is to communicate to the universe and our deeper selves our commitment to the principles most important to us. Fulfilling a sacred vow--whether it is as complex as "'till death do us part" or as simple as "I promise"--challenges us, exercising our willpower and aiding personal growth.
When we speak a sacred vow out loud rather than reciting it in our minds or recording it on paper, our voices project our promises into the deepest reaches of the universe. It is important that we remember that a vow made with the sincerest of intentions has the power to carry on past our earthly lifetimes. A well-chosen vow encourages commitment and dedication. The presence or approval of a spiritual teacher is not necessary to success, as true oaths are a product of the heart.
A sacred vow, once spoken, becomes a part of your existence forevermore. Your view of the world around you may change, and your predominant thoughts and feelings will no doubt evolve with time, but the spirit in which your oaths were spoken will remain unaffected. It is up to you to determine how you will stay true to your vows while your inner- and outer-world existence is transformed. Your strength and character will inevitably be tested as circumstances make keeping promises increasingly challenging, but after you have shown yourself steadfast many times, your appreciation of the sanctity of vows will be cemented in your mind and soul.

Having Weird Dreams Lately? Pandemic Dreaming is a Thing

If you’ve noticed that your dreams are getting weirder, more disturbing, more violent or simply stranger lately, you’re by no means alone. Multiple research institutions are currently studying the effect Covid-19 and the pandemic are having on our dreams, and there appears to be consistent evidence that people are recalling more dreams, and that those they are recalling appear to be stranger than normal
The Lyon Neuroscience Research Centre in France has been studying pandemic dreams since March this year and has reported a 35% increase in dream recall, with people on average experiencing 15% more disturbing dreams than normal. Meanwhile, the Italian Association of Sleep Medicine has been analyzing the dreams of Italians during lockdown and have reported nightmares at levels which would correspond with that expected of people experiencing PTSD.
There are a number of physiological reasons which could account for why people seem to be dreaming more. Because coronavirus has severely impacted people’s daily routines, it may be that many of us are simply sleeping for longer. If we don’t have to get up to go to work, for example, we’re more likely to sleep for longer, spending more time in REM sleep, and therefore more likely to have vivid dreams – and to remember them. Additionally, many people are under intense stress, which means we’re more likely to experience disturbed sleep. If you wake up restlessly during the night, you’re more likely to interrupt a period of REM sleep, which makes dream recall more likely. We all wake up multiple times a night, but often only for seconds, which we don’t remember. During stressful times, however, we wake up for longer periods. It takes a few moments after waking for the brain to start encoding memories, so the longer you remain awake in between bouts of sleep, the more likely you are to remember a dream.
However, even if we can explain the physiology behind increased dreaming and better dream recall during the pandemic, the science explaining why the content of the dreams may be different is less clear cut. Despite many decades of research, we still don’t really understand the purpose of dreams, the mechanisms behind them or the link between dream content and our emotional state.
With coronavirus creating an intense level of stress around the world, it’s possible that we’re seeing a similar global dreaming response this time.
Past research has shown that the more anxious someone feels during the day, the more likely they are to experience unsettling dreams or nightmares. Our best guess is that dreams during an anxious time are the brain’s way of trying to make sense of what’s going on. Because the virus itself is invisible, our dreams tend to represent it symbolically instead, hence the increase in dreams which involve monsters, murderous individuals, accidents and all-round trauma.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, some evidence suggests that frontline healthcare workers are experiencing some of the worst dream trauma – “really full on nightmares – like you see with a traumatized population” according to Barrett. The good news, however, is that there are things you can do to help to minimize your sleep disturbance and to avoid traumatic dreams.
Pay Attention to Your Sleep Routine Experts differ over whether it’s best to try to go to bed at the same time every night or whether instead, you should simply sleep when you feel like it, but whichever you choose, try to stick to that approach rather than varying it.
Meditating before bed can be helpful, as can soothing yoga exercises or a warm bath. Try to avoid screen time for at least an hour before bed and ensure that your bedroom is not too hot.
During the day, get plenty of exercise. Although this is difficult during quarantine, there are thousands of online exercise videos you can workout to, or you can get your daily dose of fresh air on a good long walk. In order to get restful sleep, you need to be physically tired.
Consider Dream Scripting Dream scripting is a method which can help in avoiding disturbing dreams, particularly if you suffer from recurrent dreams, or if you have been through a particularly traumatic experience which keeps coming up in your dreams.
Essentially, the technique involves writing down a very detailed step by step script of what would normally happen in your dream – if you don’t have recurrent dreams, imagine what might happen in a bad nightmare, or what did happen in a bad dream that you’ve remembered. Be very explicit, detailing everything you can remember up to the very worst moment of crisis, which is usually the point at which you woke up.
Now continue the script with a detailed resolution of some kind – how you escaped from or recovered from the real-life trauma if there was one, or how you could escape safely from the dream situation. If you’re dealing with a purely dream situation you can be as crazy and inventive as you like here – in dreams, anything goes! – all that matters is that you walk your dream, on paper, through to a happy and peaceful conclusion.
When you have finished, read the script to yourself over and over again, for ten minutes or so before you sleep. This helps your brain to confront the emotions of the frightening trauma while you are still awake, and also coaxes the brain into “remembering” that there is/was/can be a good resolution to the scare.
If you do suffer from very distressing dreams, remember too that it’s always good to talk these things through. Talk to your family about them or get them down on paper and submit them to a dream survey – anywhere but isolated in your own head.

Angel Meditation
To begin, retreat to a solitary place where you won't be distracted by concerns. Incense and candlelight may aid you in achieving a meditative state but are not necessary. However, laying an image of an angel, angel statue, or item symbolizing your angels before you can focus your thoughts. Sit comfortably, breathe deeply, and let yourself relax. When you feel peaceful, invite your angels from the highest of light to sit with you as you meditate. Mentally repeat your request and reiterate that this time together is important to you. Then, in your mind's eye, visualize a bright-white light floating above you. As you breathe, draw this light first into the crown of your head and then into the whole of your physical self. Allow this light to spread through your arms and hands, your core, and your lower body. Repeat this integration of illumination with a violet light. Once again, ask your angels to be with you. Let the stillness surrounding you enter your soul, and open your heart to your angel guides. If they wish to communicate a message, they will do so now. Allow them to wrap their wings around you and infuse you with their bountiful love. Breathe them in as you did the light. As the meditation draws to a close, you may feel a presence, fluttering wings, or billowing fabric, or you may see an angel in your mind's eye. Thank them for providing you with love and light, and being with you as you meditated. You start to see signs throughout the day that your angels are near, perhaps a feather at your doorstep. As you practice this meditation, you will become increasingly adept at recognizing when your angels are near and sensing their presence.

Balanced Words + Actions =?!
Words can carry huge effect in this world, from exactly how we state them, to what we really mean with them, who we say them to, to what we don't say. It is vital that we bring energy and clarity into communication.
This is meant By the old saying: "Actions Speak Louder than Words." In many cases, what we say doesn't match what we are doing, It's easier to speak about doing something than it is to actually do it. It's also easy to keep doing something that we do not recognize ourselves doing verbally and how what we say affects others. It benefits everybody to take the time to look deeply to ensure there is alignment between what we state and what we do. As an example, it's very easy to talk about our desires, but it takes extra power to take the many small actions that can result in bringing our dreams into truth. If all we ever do is discuss it, we start to lose faith in ourselves since nothing changes on the external plane. In this way, being all talk as well as no activity is actually a kind of self-sabotage. It's valuable to analyze our words to see if, we are following up on with our actions. * The more we all sync our words and our actions for positive results for all, the more positive results can occur. The more people communicating with positive conviction, being aware, as well as taking responsibility for the important balance between words and actions. The better chance we all have for a balanced more peaceful world and environment to live in.

Finding Your Tribe

We all desire to find our tribe, a community of those that feel comfortable to us and nurture our journey.
Part of being human is the search for an individual identity. Bound to this strong need to establish a unique persona, however, is an equally intense desire for acceptance. It is when we find our individual tribes that both are satisfied. Our tribe members are those people who accept us as we are without reservation and gladly accompany us on our journeys of evolution. Among them, we feel free to be our imperfect selves, to engage unabashedly in the activities we enjoy, and to express our vulnerabilities by relying on our tribe for support. We feel comfortable investing our time and energy in the members of our tribe, and are equally comfortable allowing them to invest their resources in our development.
The individuals who eventually become members of your unique tribe are out there in the wide world waiting for you. You are destined to find them, one by one, as you move through life. Sometimes your own efforts will put you in contact with your future tribe members. At other times, circumstances beyond your control will play a role in helping you connect with your tribe. If you look about you and discover that you are already allied with a wonderful and supportive tribe, remember that there are likely many members of your tribe you have not yet met. On the other hand, if you feel you are still living outside of your tribe, broadening your horizons can help you find your tribe members.
However your life develops after you come together with your tribe, you can be assured that its members will stand at your side. Masculine And Feminine Sides Of The Body

If you look in the mirror and view your profile from each side, you may notice that the two sides of your face are slightly different from one another. Additionally, your left hand is similar to but different from your right hand. In fact, these subtle differences pervade both sides of your entire body. Considering these differences in the context of the idea that the right side of your body represents the masculine and the left side represents feminine may shed some light on how balanced you are in relation to your masculine and feminine qualities.
Intuition, feelings, openness, and unselfishness govern the feminine side of our natures. The masculine side is characterized by logic, facts, systems, and self-interest. If you are giving too much to others to the detriment of yourself, your feminine side may be overactive and your right side may need strengthening to speak up on your behalf, protecting and conserving your energy. If your life is too rigidly structured, your masculine aspect may be overactive; developing your feminine aspect will bring a more open-ended and creative approach.
Maintaining harmony between the left side and the right side, the feminine and masculine, is a key to wholeness. We can foster awareness of our own relative state of balance by tuning in to our bodies. When you close your eyes and scan your body, what do you see? You may find that most of your ailments, from acne to muscle tension, occur on the left side of your body. This might indicate that your feminine aspect is out of balance in some way. Similarly, if you notice a lot of tension in your right shoulder, perhaps your masculine side is overtaxed or weakened. Just noticing an imbalance is the beginning of healing it. Some imbalances may be long-standing, and it may take time to bring your system into equilibrium. Remember to be gentle with yourself and listen to your body. Over time, doing this can guide you to a dynamic state of inner and outer balance.

In life, most of us want things to go to the places we have envisioned ourselves going. We have plans and visions, some of them divinely inspired, that we want to see through to completion. We want to be happy, successful, and healthy, all of which are perfectly natural and perfectly human. So when life takes us to places we didn't consciously want to go, we often feel as if something has gone wrong, or we must have made a mistake somewhere along the line, or any number of other disheartening possibilities. This is just life's way of taking us to a place we need to go for reasons that go deeper than our own ability to reason. These hard knocks and trials are designed to shed light on our unconscious workings and deepen our experience of reality.
Often it takes something major to wake us up, to shake us loose from our ego's grip as it struggles to maintain an illusion of control. It is loss of control more than anything else that humbles us and enables us to see the big picture. It reminds us that the key to the universe lies in what we do not know, and what we do know is a small fraction of the great mystery in which we live. This awareness softens and lightens us, as we release our resistance to what is. Another gift gleaned from going to these seemingly undesirable places is that, in our response to difficulty, we can see all the patterns and unresolved emotional baggage that stand in the way of our unconditional joyfulness. Joy exists within us independently of whether things go our way or not. And when we don't feel it, we can trust that we will find it if we are willing to surrender to the situation, moving through it as we move through our difficult feelings.
We can take our inspiration from any fairy tale that finds its central character lost in a dark wood, frightened and alone. We know that the journey through the wood provides its own kind of beauty and richness. On the other side, we will emerge transformed, lighter and brighter, braver and more confident for having moved through that darkness.
