Sunday + ☕ + 🎨 = 🖒 This is my favorite mug. It was given to me by the camp director @bluelakeofficial the summer after I graduated, on my last day of leadership staff. I will forever treasure my summers working at Blue Lake. They taught me not to underestimate myself as a leader or as an artist. I got to work and live with incredibly passionate and talented artists of all disciplines and to mentor blossoming teenage artists. BLFAC Gothic

- There’s sand in your shoes. You don’t remember a time when there wasn’t sand in your shoes. You turn your shoe upside down, and sand never stops falling from it.

- “S-C-R-I-P-T.” The Script boys chant, every morning. All of their chants consist of the word Script, and the spelling of it, but no other words. Do they even know any other words?

- There are no hugs allowed. They say you die if you hug someone of the opposite gender. No one listens. Nothing happens.

- Everything is blue. Blue polos. Blue pants. Blue skirts. Blue lake. Blue blue blue blue.

- Everyone rises in unison before dinner, to sing of children and peace. No one remembers learning the song, but they all know it.

- The camp is full of teenagers with colored hair. There are so many of them. Yet, none of them are pictured in the pamphlets. It’s as if they never existed.

- Everyone’s relationship status is determined by the position of their name tag. It’s never discussed, but everyone is familiar with it.

- Twelve people are suddenly your family. No one acknowledges this. Twelve days later, you are one again.

- The water tastes bitter, like eggs. It’s possibly poisonous, but all of the campers seem to be immune.

- There are boys that just sit around and play guitar. They never seem to stop. You leave main camp for hours, and come back. The boys are still there. No one else is.

- The art kids got paint on their shirts. They are asked to change shirts. There are no clean shirts.

- You can’t swim in the lake. They tell you there are leeches in the lake. Some of the campers scoff at the accusation, and tell you that the counselors are lying. The next day, those campers disappear. They say the leeches got them.
