I’d stumbled across Bloxx’s songs ‘Curtain ‘, ‘Coke’, and ‘Lay Down’ back in 2018 when I was in a Spotify rabbit hole.🐇 After I heard Ophelia’s attractive voice and lyrics which rang true to my social life I.Was.Hooked. 🎣

So understandably when I saw Bloxx were among the amazing line-up for Community Festival at Finsbury Park back in June 2019- Artists included The Kooks, Blossoms, Amazons, The Hunna (seen them 3 times ), Gerry Cinnamon, Sea Girls, and Vistas- I was beyond excited.

And rightly so, their stage presence was energetic, playful and intimate.  And don't even get me started on the guitarist, Taz Sidhhu, and bassist Paul Rau! 🤯A part of me felt like I was watching friends perform in a large garden but actually, you’re in London🇬🇧, the end of June, Sun is beaming down☀️, a pint of cider in hand.🍻

Early fans like myself were close to the front and mouthed the words and new listeners after one chorus joined in and were rocking side to side. 🗣You could just tell you were watching a band who was going to get popular fast. This is of course why I can remember how explosive Bloxx’s performance was over a year later. I can recall standing in the crowd with my sister thinking, “ This band will go down in History”.

They have released their highly anticipated debut album this year and each song on there is majorly re-playable, the chorus’ are catchy AF, and the lyrics are #Relatable.

There are not many albums out there you can honestly listen to all the way through without skipping a song, this, however, is a completely different story. Since “Coming Up Short” was picked as Radio 1’s Annie Macs Hottest Record I believe their future as a band is locked and loaded. Ophelia has mentioned they do not want to be seen as “Just another indie-band” so until the Jack-in-the-Bloxx has been cranked and genre-bending songs are revealed, I will be waiting patiently for their second album like many others...📦
