The aquarium was Ford’s favorite place to be and he often snuck off and away from the Darling-King residence to go there. He’d steal a few dollars from Claudia and would watch the fish for hours, completely in awe of their different colors and sizes. His favorite was the clown fish because his favorite movie growing up was ‘Finding Nemo’. When he was a bit younger, he would watch the film for hours at a time, drowning out the sounds of his former mother arguing with whatever man she was dating at the moment. 

As much as he liked his new parents, he was still adjusting. Still trying to wrap his head around the amount of love he was given. And when he saw Reese walk over to him, after he’d ran away for the fifth time this week, he was surprised that his new father knew enough about him to search for him. 

“Hey,” he said with a half-smile. “You, uhm, mad at me? Or did you come to watch the fish, too?” He kept a good distance from Reese, always feeling the need to keep space from him and adults; even when they were trustworthy like Reese. He sat, having turned away, staring as the clown fish swam around in circles.

The look she gives Joseigh is a look that says she knows that he’s been up to trouble. Whenever he does something he isn’t supposed to do, his mouth quirks to the side and his eyes get wider. It’s something she picked up on when he was a child, and he can’t hide shit from her due to that. He should know that by now. But whenever he’s caught red-handed, he always pulls the doe-eyed and innocent expression out and tries to get his ass out of whatever he did - even though, she’d just give him a talking to, opposed to a grounding, if he just admitted that he did something he wasn’t supposed to do. 

“Are you going to blame Yoland, again? She’s been with me all day. We went shopping, Jo. So you can’t blame her for your misbehavior,” she said calmly, hands on her hips, looking stern, but not angry - considering her parenting style has never been about intimidation, but respect between both parent and child. 

She looked at him and sighed. “Just tell me what you did and we can talk things out. And if Rory and Ford had something to do with it, I’d admit it because they’re both not afraid to rat you and each other out.”

Reese’s restaurant is booming with customers every time Claudia visits; and today is no different. There are tables full of people from all walks of life, chowing down on his family recipes and talking among each other. It’s quite a sight and Claudia is proud of him for succeeding. But the sight she’s looking for is Reese and his bright and beautiful smile. It’s what makes her happy, even when life hasn’t been treating her the best lately. So when she does see him, and he smiles at her, she runs over to him, avoiding the tables and gives him a tight hug, gloved hands pulling him close even though she’s not one for hugging with most people. “You’re taking a lunch break with me. I insist,” she tells him, French accent thick as she speaks. “You have absolutely no choice in the matter”
