WARNING: GIMMICK BLOG REVIEW AHEAD

Gimmick Blog: @hazard-symbols-that-fuck-hard

Gimmick: Posting pictures of hazard symbols, accepts submissions.

Gimmick Rating: 9/10, while it does definitely appeal to myself and many tumblr users, I'm sure there are many who would be largely unimpressed. However, within its niche I think this gimmick is excellent. With how fragile our lives are, I imagine there's no end to the hazard symbols one could find. Many of them, in an attempt to shock meaning into the viewer, come across as "hard as fuck" or "fucking hard". A gimmick to capture these symbols is a unique and interesting idea. As of time of writing, it is tied for the highest rating given to a gimmick.

Blog Rating: 8/10, largely dedicated to the gimmick but occasionally features non gimmick posts. Even among the non gimmick posts, many are related to the gimmick, though there's enough that aren't for me to care. For instance, HSTFH's tarot and poker decks. If someone were posting about their tarot and poker decks on a gimmick blog you might assume they're just shilling a personal project but HSTFH is much more reputable than that. Hazard Tarot and Hazard Poker are not only impressive art, but also topical to the blog. Even the... porn (which I will not link directly to for obvious reasons), featured on the blog is tangentially related to hazard symbols. However, HSTFH posted some stuff about the election and telling people to vote. While I imagine we have similar politics, and I would normally support such things, I don't believe politics should feature on gimmick blogs.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10, the highest score ever awarded as of time of writing. Hazard Symbols That Fuck Hard is in my opinion an account someone could only run on tumblr. It's unique, it's cool, I've been a fan for a while and I have been considering buying its hazard tarot and poker deck designs as those are things that fascinate me. I always keep an eye out for interesting hazard symbols so I have something to submit someday. Until then, I will wait with anticipation for the account's next post.

girlcoded sam readings are like. his arcs are so tied up with control and bodily autonomy and sexual assault and otherness and cleanness and a desire for freedom and rebellion against oppressive masculine forces to the point where an examination of his show-long arcs looks like a thesis on The Female Gothic. he’s never afforded the respect or the power of characters like john and dean and is in fact narratively punished whenever he isn’t subservient to them. both the show itself and the fandom surrounding it treat him like dean’s bitch wife. he is textually compared to female characters multiple times, by the narrative and by dean.

and then meanwhile girlcoded dean readings are like. Eldest daughter core! (his father handed down ultimate control over every aspect of sam’s life once he died like a family heirloom)(he is THE patriarch). Yes he does the cooking yes he does the cleaning (which he doesn’t even…. and even if he solely did all the housework how does that make him Girl Coded unless it’s being delegated exclusively to him like its his role and he’s punished for not conforming to it… which is not happening…).

like girlcoded dean readings rely on stereotypes about women in real life. girlcoded sam readings rely on noticing how much the narrative constructed around sam falls into tropes used in fiction almost always about women. even things like his psychic powers! the way people are always swarming around trying to ‘corrupt’ him! the fixation on his purity and innocence! the two readings are very different things

Hi, so, after your post I have a few question about Arthur, and I understand if you can't anserw them if it's not spoilers for the story.

So, how exactly did Arthur go back to his own world? Did Merlina give up trying to make him stay, or did he find a way of his own?

Another thing, is Arthur simply what others started calling him when they learned he was King Arthur and disregard his actual name, or is Arthur actually his name and not Sonic?

If it's the former, I imagine it was frustrating having everyone ignore his actual name, instead calling him a title and name he didn't choose for himself, one that was forced upon him.

I get two main questions about him: Is one of the Sonics, and will we see him outside of flashbacks? For the first one, y’all are stuck with Lance on that. The second? Perhaps :)

Looking back, I kinda realized that I gave Arthur the dead wife haunting the narrative role? For someone who’s not even there, he still has a huge presence!

The other questions, I can answer a bit more freely lol!

For how Arthur gets home, I haven’t decided that yet! Maybe the Lady of the Lake ends up pitying him, Merlina changes her mind, or he just popped back one day. However, time moves a lot differently in SATBK. So, Arthur is 2 years older after leaving the storybook.

For your other question, Arthur is what they started calling him despite being Sonic. And yeah, the loss of identity/freedom from being hailed as King Arthur for years made him. a little mad. It also led him to various coping mechanisms, which I might go into detail later? It really depends, I’m not exactly sure how young this audience runs? Arthur’s storyline would probably dip into mature themes, and I really don’t want to expose younger groups to that. So depending on the response, I’ll dial back Arthur’s involvement in the plot and stuff.

Last bit, I promise.

In terms of Lansoni? By the end of his reign, Arthur is Lance’s greatest failure, and Lance is Sonic’s worst nightmare.

Before that? It was right person, wrong time.

Gimmick: Posting a nice bug every day, takes submissions, sometimes identifying the bugs if need be.

Gimmick rating: 8/10, really interesting and great but it's not for everyone and identifying bugs is not unique. That said, a wonderful addition to Tumblr, and deserves a high rating.

Blog rating: 8/10, focused mainly around bugs, but posts much more than once per day as far as I can tell and posts about bug stuff outside of "one bug per day" posts.

Overall rating: 8/10, as of time of writing in a three way tie for highest rated gimmick blog. A beautiful example of what a gimmick blog can be. I aspire to be similar, I might even start taking submissions/suggestions to get more gimmick blogs to look at.

Sidenote: I find it interesting ONBPD includes spiders in "bugs" as they're not insects and by definition, bugs are small insects. No judgement or opinion on spiders, just an observation.

Finally, One Nice Bug Per Day, can you ID this bug? I assume it’s some type of bee give that it was chilling on these flowers. I’m in the Puget Sound region of Washington State and this picture was taken a few minutes ago. (I took a pic of a bug specifically for you to ID.

Actually this is one thing I forgot to include in the appreciation post I made about Sylus yesterday – the fact that he encourages MC to embrace all sides of herself fully, including the ones society deems less appropriate, especially in women (such as being a menace 😌). She is free to be who she truly is with him, not having to hold any part of her authentic self back. That must be so freeing. Sylus is such a safe space 💞

Like. Okay here is an object that can summon the dead. It can only be used by a child of Hades/Pluto and a Roman officer in unison. HAZEL IS RIGHT THERE!!!!!

Nico can already summon the dead! He doesn't need a special object for it! Literally IN THE SCENE WHERE THEY GET THE SCEPTER, NICO RAISES THE DEAD. HE'S NOT WEAK ENOUGH THAT HE CAN'T! Hazel meanwhile has never raised the dead before (kind of - she did a little bit like once)! Theoretically she's fully capable of it but she's never properly tried it before! Giving her an object to help facilitate practicing with that would be perfect, especially given the scepter expires after a certain number of uses! Also, since Hazel ends up a praetor in TOA anyways, there's no reason why she shouldn't get promoted to be able to use the scepter all on her own! In fact her getting promoted in the House of Hades would be the perfect place to do so because it's a scene where she's taking the lead and saving everyone else! In fact it's a significantly better place to promote her to praetor over the scene where she ACTUALLY gets promoted! And even if you don't have Hazel promoted instead, then you'd still have it be Hazel and Frank working together to command the armies of the undead, which is perfect because they're a couple and it'd be a great way to show how well they work together!!!!!

LITERALLY THERE IS NO REASON TO NOT GIVE IT TO HAZEL. WHAT'S THE DEAL.

severance. like the show. the concept. The Thing.

!! Rating: Holy Shit, there's so much to say about this one. Short answer; yes AND no.

SO. we've been binging this show since last week, and wow its a good show i recommend giving it watch !!

i will Try to keep this spoilers-free but, its still better to watch the first few episodes, then come back to read this post

the main concept of "severance" as a concept is purposefully splitting the brain, (via brain surgery) to make two separate consciousness, one for work, one for home.

this is where it already gets tricky; its purposeful, it's basically consensual on the "host's" part, but the headmates (or "innies" as the show calls them) did not want this, but now that they have a chance at life, albeit a boring 9-5 box office job, they're content. (this is a point towards 'not plural')

some of them find happiness some of them find love, some of them find purpose, because that's what people need, proving that the "innies" are fundamentally people. (point towards 'plural')

i think a lot of the show focuses on the terror of waking up without memories, the utter horror aspect of it, and usually i'm quick to jump to "well this is the writers using d.i.d as a horror trope" because most of the time it is. (point towards 'not plural')

with severance; the horror aspects of the show are Real Terrifying Plural Experiences. as a system watching this show was lowkey eye-opening because i can show it to singlets and tell them "this is what its like." then they'll have a better understanding of my system and by extension other systems as well even if on just a surface level (point towards 'plural')

a lot of the struggles and conflicts in the show are centered around the "innies"(headmates) disagreeing with the "outies"(hosts) goals and ideas, etc etc there's LOTS of conflict between the two and absolutely NO communication between the two. (point towards 'plural')

the company who they all work for, has MANY strict restrictions on the "innies" ability to do almost anything, they are there to work and that is it. "innies" cannot communicate with "outies" and "outies" don't want to communicate with their "innies"(Schrodinger's point. could be either.)

SO. long answer; there are many many MANY Experiences shown, that are Real to Systems, yes the show frames it as a "wouldn't this be fucked up?" scenario, but it Is real and it IS (albeit. maybe slightly less? fucked up?) in real life and in real systems

(i say slightly less fucked up bc i believe it is more flawed and miserable for a company to do that to its employees, given the (outies) employees agreed to it, its almost endogenic, in that the systems didnt form in childhood trauma ,, and "became" systems intentionally, which isnt how plurality actually works, point for 'not plural,')
