The Benefits of Hydro Jetting for Drain Cleaning
If youâve ever dealt with a stubborn clog that just wonât budge, you know how frustrating and inconvenient it can be. Whether itâs a slow-draining sink, a backed-up toilet, or a smelly kitchen drain, plumbing problems can quickly become a headache. Thatâs where hydro jetting comes inâa powerful and effective drain cleaning method that can clear out even the toughest blockages.
At JSquad Services in Essex, MD, we believe hydro jetting is one of the best ways to keep your drains flowing smoothly. Hereâs why itâs a game-changer for your plumbing system.
What is Hydro Jetting?
Hydro jetting is a professional drain cleaning method that uses highly pressurized water to remove debris, grease, and buildup from your pipes. Unlike traditional drain cleaning methods that might only poke a hole through a clog, hydro jetting completely clears out the entire pipe. This means not only do you get rid of the clog, but your pipes are left clean and free of buildup that could cause future blockages.
The Top Benefits of Hydro Jetting
1. Extremely Effective
Hydro jetting is one of the most effective ways to clean drains because it doesnât just break up the clogâit flushes everything out. Whether itâs grease, soap scum, tree roots, or years of accumulated gunk, hydro jetting can handle it all. The high-pressure water (often reaching up to 4,000 PSI) blasts through obstructions and thoroughly cleans your pipes.
2. Long-Lasting Results
Many traditional drain cleaning methods, like snaking or chemical cleaners, only provide a temporary fix. A plumbing snake may clear a small path through the clog, but it often leaves behind residue that can lead to future blockages. Hydro jetting, on the other hand, completely clears out the debris, reducing the chances of recurring clogs.
3. Environmentally Friendly
Unlike chemical drain cleaners, which can be harsh on your pipes and harmful to the environment, hydro jetting uses only water. Itâs a safe and eco-friendly way to clean your drains without introducing toxic substances into your plumbing system or local water supply.
4. Safe for Your Pipes
Many people worry that hydro jetting might be too powerful for their pipes, but when done by professionals like JSquad Services, itâs completely safe. Our trained technicians adjust the water pressure based on your pipe material and condition, ensuring a thorough cleaning without causing damage. In fact, hydro jetting can actually extend the lifespan of your plumbing system by preventing corrosion and buildup.
5. Eliminates Odors
If youâve ever noticed a foul smell coming from your drains, it could be due to grease, food particles, or bacteria buildup inside the pipes. Since hydro jetting completely cleans the pipes, it removes these odor-causing substances, leaving your home smelling fresh and clean.
6. Prevents Future Plumbing Issues
A clogged drain might seem like a minor inconvenience, but it can lead to bigger problems if left untreated. Blocked pipes can cause backups, slow drainage, and even pipe bursts. By investing in hydro jetting, youâre taking a proactive approach to plumbing maintenance, reducing the risk of expensive repairs down the line.

Secrets of mutation
Logan(wolverine) x reader
Warnings: Age gap, student/teacher, AOB, trauma, swearing, sexual, intimate, a little forceful, anxiety
Xmen/new mutants
AOB will be referred to second gender xD

The alarms were blaring in your ear when you woke. Startled and uncoordinated you got out of bed and looked out the door seeing no one but flashing lights, what the hell was going on?
You remember waking up in this strange place, handcuffed to a bed in some strange room filled with other empty hospital beds. You donât remember much from before, your past blurry. A woman had come in, a tablet in hand as she scanned you with something.
âWhere am I?â You asked.
âWho are you?!â You added tugging at the cuffs.
âCalm down Miss Y/n, my name is Dr Reyes, youâre at a facilityâ you frowned at her words.
âWhat facility?â You questioned.
âA facility for mutants like yourselfâ she said typing down something.
âYou do know what mutants are yes?â You nodded to her question.
âIâm- not a mutantâ you trailed off a little unsure.
âYou are Y/n, a little late in showing but none the less, a mutantâ she walked to your cuffs and you flinched as she unlocked them.
âWhatâs my mutation?â You asked rubbing your wrists.
âWe have yet to figure that outâ she smiled.
âIâll show you aroundâ
It was more of a cage for mutants than a program, you learnt after some time, the others you were with didnât appreciate new blood apparently except Sam, Danny and Rahne. You were finding it difficult to present your power to anyone and yourself. Rahne said she could sense you differently from the others, you were unsure why though. As it became more clear you werenât getting out you began to freak out. Your mind forcefully trying to figure out what happened before, your parents, your life? You couldnât remember any of it, just flashes of faceless people and laughs. You got nightmares every night, something different each time, a jumble of memories perhaps. When those alarms rang though you sought nothing but freedom.
You had found the others as they looked around confused also. You all had headed outside a jet of some sort landing nearby.
âWho the hell is that?â Roberto asked.
âHow are we supposed to know?!â Rahne yelled as a voice filled your head.
âItâs alrightâ it said as the jet opened and an old man came out on a wheelchair.
âNo!â You heard Dr Reyes stumbling out as a orange bubble surrounded you. You were suffocating in it as you fell to your knees gasping for breath, desperately bashing on the force.
You had awoken to soft beeping, before it slowly picked up much like your heart beat. You looked around this feeling to familiar when someone walked in.
âYouâre awakeâ she said as you stared at her, machine beating rapidly.
âWhatâs going on?!â You tugged against the tubes on you and panicked.
âCalm downâ she said rushing to you quickly.
âMy names Stormâ she said and you frowned.
âYouâre at professors Xaviers schoolâ you frowned at her words.
âSchool?â You questioned looking around the high tech medical lab.
âWell above us is the schoolâ she chuckled.
âYou might know us better by the xmenâ she said and you still stared.
âTook us a while to find your facility, Iâm afraid youâre not the only one who was in that situation, theyâre happening everywhereâ she sighed sadly.
âThat shield around it blocked the Professor out for a while till he got inâ you laid back down, head spinning.
âAre the others ok?â You asked.
âTheyâre fine, getting use to the school, Magik causing some trouble but sheâll adaptâ she stood by your bed.
âI-I donât know my mutationâ you mumbled.
âThatâs why the professors hereâ she said softly as someone walked in. You sat up again seeing the old man in the chair.
âIâm not that oldâ he chuckled and you flushed.
âI didnât-â you frowned at him.
âMy mutation my dear, I can hear peopleâs thoughtsâ he smiled stopping by your bed.
âOhâ you said.
âDonât worry I wonât scope around in their unless you require me tooâ he chuckled you crossed your arms awkwardly.
âBad joke Iâm afraidâ he said as Storm chuckled.
âHow are you feeling?â He asked.
âUm?â You said.
âYes Iâd imagine this situation is rather stressful but we are here to helpâ he offered a warm smile.
âI donât know what to do- I donât remember my past apart from waking up in that facility, nor do I know my mutationâ you said.
âYes, the facilityâs, the Essexâs program give you a serum that takes away your memories of your past life, to better focus the mindâ he sighed.
âAs for your mutation I can help you find itâ he smiled.
âEssexâs program?â You asked.
âYes there are secret facilityâs around the world, covered by the orange shield, they hold powerful mutants in there for testing, turn them into weapons with no memoriesâ he spoke grimly, his eyes downcast.
âItâs hard for me to get through the shield without causing a big warâ he sighed.
âThese programs are made by the government, to test on mutants the deem powerful and dangerous and turn them into killers in the futureâ he looked to the woman who had a saddened face also.
âItâs hard to find you allâ she said sadly.
âTerrible thingâ she added.
âCome, Iâll show you around the school, lighten your mood a bitâ the Professor smiled. You stood slowly thankful your clothes were still on and not some stupid hospital gown. You followed the Professor through a bright hall and into an elevator.
As the door opened again you were stunned by the house and smells. Old but clean with students walking around.
âTheyâre all mutantsâ the Professor said as you looked to each one as you walked.
âWe have classes upstairs and down stairs, down the end here is the cafeteriaâ he pointed down the hall and you nodded.
âBack this way is the smaller kitchen and toilets along with rooms on the left sideâ he added pointing out each room.
âThe floor below us is where you train, like for PE and fightingâ he said.
âThereâs a courtyard and plenty of room outside as well as inâ he smiled going up the stairs.
âProfessor!â You jumped as someone called.
âAh Loganâ you turned with the professor seeing the man coming towards you. You were hit with something though, an overwhelming scent and you held a hand over your nose.
âWhat?â The man said.
âI donât stink that badâ he sniffed himself and you shook your head.
âNo Logan I donât think she understands our second genderâ the Professor said and you frowned.
âJesus kidâ the man muttered.
âDid you need something Logan?â The Professor asked.
âYeah that girl you found her with Magik? Sheâs causing a bloody mess againâ he huffed hands on his hips and you perked up.
âShall we go see your friends?â The Professor asked and you nodded. As you walked away from the man you glanced back meeting his gaze. You gulped looking away and speeding up a bit.
âY/n!â Rahne was the first to run to you. You sighed hugging them tightly. Danny joined and you felt tears in your eyes. Sam came over too and you chuckled giving him a hug also.
âYou guys ok?â You asked pulling back.
âWeâre fineâ Rahne said.
âHow are you?â Sam asked.
âIâm ok, I thinkâ you gulped a little glancing to the professor.
âYouâve been out a couple of daysâ Danny said and you frowned.
âReally?â You asked and she nodded.
âWas worried you werenât gonna get upâ you turned seeing Roberto and went to hug him.
âI get a hug?â He said in awe and you chuckled shaking your head.
âWhere is your friend Magik?â The Professor asked.
âOutside in her little worldâ Roberto sighed.
âShe hasnât taken a liking to this placeâ Rahne said.
âShe never liked being cooped up anywayâ you shrugged.
âY/n are you happy to stay here while I go talk to her?â The Professor asked.
âYeah, thank youâ you whispered and he smiled leaving.
You sat on the couch sighing, head hung back.
âWeâre really at Professor Xaviers schoolâ Danny said in little awe.
âThe xmenâ you mumbled.
âYepâ Rahne said.
âSeems strange we werenât sent here- but then again we were in a secret programâ Sam said.
âSecret program of psychosâ Roberto grumbled.
âI donât understand why I was there thoughâ you said saddened.
âI donât know my powers, I donât know anything apparentlyâ you sighed leaning your head in your hands.
âWhatâs the second gender?â You asked.
âYou donât know?â Roberto asked surprised.
âNoâ you mumbled.
âThe second gender is-â Sam stuttered on his words.
âAlpha, Beta, Omegaâ Rahne said and you frowned.
âI donât understand?â You said.
âItâs a ranking system almostâ Roberto spoke up.
âWhen you hit puberty is when you know your rank, Alphas are the-â before Roberto could speak Danny interrupted.
âAlphas are hot headed idiotsâ she rolled her eyes as Roberto huffed like a child.
âBetas are in the middle class, omegas in the bottom and alphas at the topâ Rahne said.
âWhat are you guys?â You said.
âRobertos an alpha so is Sam and Illyana, Iâm a beta and so is Dannyâ you frowned at Rahne words.
âWhat am I?â You said.
âYouâre an omegaâ Sam muttered.
âSo Iâm beneath you?â You questioned.
âNo it- it doesnât work like thatâ he sighed.
âThen how does it work?â You asked desperate.
âI canât explain itâs always been thereâ Sam shrugged.
âWhat the hellâ you mumbled sinking into to the couch more.
âIâm sure the professor can help youâ Rahne held your hand as you tried to smile and nod. You didnât know your past, your powers, your second gender? Who even were you?

Everything you need to know about emptying your septic tanks
#How septic tanks are emptied?
Septic Tank emptying in Epping Essex can cost you too much if you donât choose your septic tank cleaner wisely. There are multiple agencies in Essex which provide septic tank emptying and cleaning services. To continue proper functioning, itâs important to have a timely emptying and cleaning of septic tank sludge.
Usually, the waste removal process takes place using a vehicle, which uses a large pressurised vacuum to suck up the sewage. The nozzle of the vacuum pump pipe is submerged in the interceptor waste or sludge and then the vacuum pump is activated. As the pressure increases, it forces the waste to rise in the pipe and the vehicleâs collection tank starts to fill up.
After emptying your Septic Tank, the waste removal vehicle transports the sludge to an approved storage and treatment facility. Usually, these waste disposal facilities are in local proximity, so that unnecessary transport distance can be avoided.
While some of the waste is reused for industrial applications, making renewable fertiliser or energy generation such as gasification, others get safely dumped into pits.
What Size of Vehicle to book?
The size of the waste removal tank or emptying vehicle depends on the size of your tank and the amount of waste contained in it. Before booking the vehicle, make sure to empty an approximate amount of waste contained in your septic tank. This allows you to get a better idea of the size of your tank.
What are the signs that your septic tank is full?
Make sure to check your septic tank, every once in a while, to stay on top of your emptying schedule. You will find obvious signs. This also helps you avoid situations, where the septic tank is full that you might be already late.
Here are some of the signs that usually tell that itâs time to find someone for Septic Tank emptying in Epping Essex:
¡        Smells â You can easily sniff a pungent smell coming out of your drains, toilet flushes and garden. This happens when the tank is too full with interceptor waste and the gas begins to force back through the piping.
¡        Slow Drainage â When your drains, sinks, toilets take longer to drain the water than usual, they might be clogged. However, in some cases, itâs a side effect of septic tank overflow as well.
¡        Greener Grass â When the grass in your garden is growing faster and becoming lush green, there is a good possibility that your septic tank is full and now itâs nourishing your garden roots underground.
¡        Water pooling â When small puddles start to appear around your septic tank drainage area, itâs a sign to check your septic tank water levels once. Â
How often should you empty your septic tank be emptied?
Usage and size are the obvious factors that determine your emptying cycle. If you have a small size septic tank, it will usually need a yearly cleaning. However, larger septic tanks can hold the waste and sludge for a couple of years, before they get full.
No matter what, always make sure to get it emptied on time before it overflows and blocks or damages your internal plumbing. You donât want unnecessary repair and maintenance costs.
Costs involved in emptying a septic tank?
Getting rid of your Interceptor waste or septic tank sludge can be expensive depending on a lot of factors, including:
¡        Travel Distance â The distance that the driver has to travel from the depot to your home, where the septic tank is installed.
¡        The volume of Waste â The quantity of waste in your tank decides the size of the tank required, time taken, manpower required and energy consumption. All of it comes at either a piece rate or an hourly rate.
¡        Accessibility â As hard it is to reach or access your septic tank, as expensive it is going to be. Itâs because remotely accessible areas require lighter vehicles and thus multiple rounds or trips are needed to clean the tank completely.
Septic Tank emptying & Septic tank installation in Epping Essex is one of the jobs that we expertise in. Ashwaste Environmental Ltd. is helping the locals of Essex to get rid of their interceptor waste for years. With an expert and experienced team, we are providing comfortable and hassle-free waste removal services to our clients. What, Me Pandemic? A Boho Crowd Stakes Its Claim (and Claims Its $48 Steaks)

Fricasse Dubois, 21, lamented the decision to pull her latest concrete poem from The Codswalloped Pisspot as she passed one of the whimsical âMaine-ducks-in-flightâ mailboxes that serve as newspaper bins for the red-hot downtown rag. But her friend and intern, Banshee Fitzgerald, 33, had made a good point: The Pisspot had been flirting with questionable taste for months now.Â
First there was the ironic opera libretto by Steve Bannon, which cast Leo âKIDSâ Fitzpatrick as a Muslim refugee in a Copenhagen no-go zone. Then there was the edgy faux-memoir from Terry Richardson, modeled on O.J. Simpsonâs unpublished âIf I Did It,â and accompanied by a portfolio of Juergen Teller ass-Xeroxes.

But now, the Pisspot hype was growing, and Dubois realized that she might miss the proverbial boat. Interest in the nascent publishing venture was at fever pitch; a SPAC had been formed by laid-off Gagosian and Perrotin directors eager to stage a hostile takeover of the irregularly published âzine.Â
And a dash of infamy certainly helpedâthe paperâs co-editor, Stizzy Fugger, had just launched a Tumblr in which she tallied the number of people she had inadvertently infected with Covid-19, updated in real-time (12,617 at press time, if youâre keeping score, more than the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally).
Anyone who has witnessed a âPisspot dropâ in the Dimes Square neighborhood of Manhattan knows to expect pandemonium. But nothing could have prepared this reporter for the foamy-mouthed jubilee and ecstatic violence of the occasion.Â

It was 11am on a Tuesday, and the editors appeared at the corner of Seward Park, bearing several cardboard boxes of the paper. They were trailed by the usual suspects: Pimple-necked sadcore rappers, sex-positive Zoom therapists, former Artforum criticâs pickers who now run content for Chipotle, and middle-aged men who really shouldnât skateboard. Â
Itâs a truism that an issue of Pisspot isnât really read so much as it is imbibed, absorbed via the osmosis of social mediaâs orgiastic frenzy. In fact, the Times had a great deal of difficulty locating anyone who had physically held a copy of the paper in their smooth, unlined hands; many preferred to experience it as a series of fuzzy, thumbnail-sized images posted ironically on MySpace.Â
âPeople used to say they read Playboy for the ads,â said Kit Murano, a fish-eyed, forty-something member of a downtown-based Adderall (â˘) street team. âPisspot doesnât have ads. And no one who knows anything would be caught, like, just sitting there and flipping through the thing. Itâs an attitude. Itâs an essence. Itâs a lifestyle.â

Okay, sureâbut what about the actual content actually published in each issue? Imagine an early iteration of Vice cross-pollinated with Tiger Beat, and then add a splash of sexual-harassment-era Paris Review. Itâs a bit silly, and a bit loose. Bret Easton Ellis contributes a crossword puzzle in which every answer is just another reason why millennials suck. A party reportââReamed & Furredââdiligently transcribes the coke-addled bon mots of the same group of six people all eating at the same restaurant every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evening.Â
If thereâs an ethos gluing all of this together, itâs a passing-of-the-torch from an older bohemian guard to a younger demographic, with their laissez-faire attitudes about sex, drugs, and global pandemics. âItâs, like, we can all still party together, and age isnât really âa thingâ,â explains Murano, leaning out the window of a Mini Cooper wrapped in shiny SunGen Pharma adverts.
The entire scene revolves around the lopsided triangle known as âDimes Square,â which borrows its moniker from the culinary hotspot Dimes. (The name derives from Cockney rhyming slang for âelongated pinky nail.â). Every New York story is also, of course, a story about real estate. In this case, that means the Connecticut country houses that this cohort has Airbnbed out while remaining to weather the storm in lower Manhattan.Â
Parts of this scene are âwhite, but probably ambisexual-adjacent; theyâre members of the creative class, but they possess enough self-hatred to seem authentic,â says Dash Johnson, a Dimes Square hanger-on who many suspect of running the Steak-Umms social media accounts. âMost of them used to work for galleries, or websites, or Garage magazine, but when those jobs dried up, they woke up one morning and said: Fuck it. Letâs stop pretending. Letâs just tweet.â

One essential element of any good scene is a gossip column to keep trackâand to keep score. ArtWetâs âWet Ass Pigmentâ plays that role for the Dimes Square cognoscenti. Itâs a bleeding-edge social diary written by an anonymous, Gossip Girl-style correspondent who communicates solely via Signal, using a vocal transformer.Â
âI was sick of trying to break into this world,â they said. âI was sick of meeting Anthony Haden-Guest at a dinner, for the 387th time, and having him introduce himself all over again, like we hadnât both thrown up in the same toilet less than three days before. Fuck gatekeepers. I built my own gate, and then I started keeping it.âÂ
It was a Wet Ass Pigment column, in fact, which broke the seasonâs buzziest news: semi-disgraced first son Hunter Biden had bought an octoplex apartment directly above Dimes, where heâll be staying as he prepares for a September solo exhibition that will open concurrently across Andrew Kreps, 56 Henry, Shoot the Lobster, and a pop-up space for Recess CBD seltzer. Unlike the gentle, âmeditativeâ paintings that Biden had been making in recovery, the new work is brash and rudely vulgarâthe product of an unexpected friendship Biden had struck up with Bjarne Melgaard and Jordan Wolfson.Â

Meanwhile, the groupâs literary face remains 29-year-old Katarina Klaus, whose razor-sharp prose skewers her surroundings with the acidic wit of a young Evelyn Waugh. âIâll be honest, I fucking hate writing,â Klaus admitted, blowing her nose into a Telfar bag. âIâm both super motivated and super lazy. Sometimes Iâll just copy-paste random chunks of Speedboat into a column and no one will even notice.â
So whatâs next for this ragtag crew? âDimes Square will probably be over by the time this fucking article comes out,â Klaus laments. âYouâre going to have, like, some TikTok influencer house on the corner of Canal and Essex, and all the coke will have fentanyl in it again because idiots from New Jersey just have no nose. You know what? Iâm regretting this already. This is all off the record.â
Meanwhile, Klaus is already rethinking her involvement in Pisspot. With a current print run of 250 copies, the instantly iconic newspaper suddenly seems a bit too exposed. Sheâs in discussions with a new, unnamed venture that would distribute articles and essays in a serialized format, via fortunes randomly inserted into cookies at various Chinese restaurants within a three-block radius of the Square. âItâs all about ephemerality,â she says, sucking on a DMT vape she brought back from Mexico City. âItâs all about staying relevant.â
This article was lovingly rewritten from the original by Scott Indrisek.
CORRECTION: The above edition of this story mistakenly cites Kit Muranoâs age as âforty-something,â based on our reporterâs visual guesstimation. She is actually 19.  Â
CORRECTION: âDimesâ is in fact Cockney prison rhyming slang for the expression, âa bent knob is straight twice a day.â
CORRECTION: An earlier online version of this story mistakenly identified The Codswalloped Pisspot as The Duct-Taped Shitberg.
CORRECTION: An earlier, subscribers-only post of this story mislabeled the gossip blog Wet Ass Pigment as being a Spotify podcast called Wank ân Pose.
CORRECTION: Jordan Wolfson died in 2014.Â
CORRECTION: An earlier Google Doc of this story referenced a non-existent âhardcore maternity diaryâ by Chloe Sevigny, which most likely did not appear in issue 4 of the Codtaped Shitpot.Â
CORRECTION: A version of this story that was sent to hapless print subscribers in Texas and Connecticut wrongly identified the geographic boundaries of âDimes Squareâ as being East 45th Street, Central Park West, Freemanâs Alley, and Bedford Avenue.

Flooding in Napier as heavy rain sweeps across North Island
Flooding has swept through many Napier streets, prompting evacuations, rescues and causing widespread damage, and a local state of emergency has been declared.
Dozens of people have been evacuated from Napier, and firefighters have responded to more than 80 properties. Photo: RNZ/ Tom Kitchin
Wild weather is hammering Napier, with slips, flooding and leaking roofs causing chaos. Firefighters have been called to assist flooded buildings, and power is out to many properties.
People were being urged to stay inside, as long as it was safe to do so, and not to drive or to come into contact with the floodwaters, which could be contaminated.
Those who need assistance were asked to call 111 for help, and not Napier Fire Station.
Napier Mayor Kirsten Wise has declared a local state of emergency in Napier. Updates, including road closures, are being published on the Hawkeâs Bay Emergency Management website.
MetService warned the rain could continue until late tonight, and more is expected tomorrow.

Hawkeâs Bay Emergency Management controller Ian Macdonald said at least 30 people had been evacuated due to what he called a one in 100 year event.
Rescues and assisted evacuations were being carried out on a case-by-case basis, depending on the risk presented by the flooding and land slips, but he said if people felt unsafe where they were they should self-evacuate.
Fire and Emergency NZ Area Manager Ken Cooper said there were 14 urban and rural crews responding to more than 150 calls for assistance, mostly from people in Napier city.

About half of the calls for help had been responded to, and workers expect to continue through the night. Calls to people who need hospital treatment, the elderly and those in danger were being prioritised.
âWe are triaging calls for assistance for homes flooding and roofs leaking, and have removed some elderly from their homes to stay with relatives,â Cooper said.
Hawkes Bayâs Urban Search and Rescue team is assessing 16 properties at risk from slips on Napier Hill, and checking people still there were safe, he said.
âThere are people still in those houses, so thatâs really our primary concern, to do a rapid assessment.â
Photos posted online showed deep water in many streets, with cars and a shipping container floating in streets inundated with floodwaters.
A man helping with rescue efforts told RNZ he had to fight through chest-deep water to get to houses.
On Facebook community pages people have warned that motorists driving fast through flooded streets were sending wake into flooded buildings. Others had offered their houses as safe places for people to take refuge if they couldât get home, or had to leave their home.
People who have evacuated have been asked to stay with friends and family where possible, but an evacuation centre has opened at Kennedy Park Resort camping ground in eastern Napier.

Power outages were affecting nearly the entire city, and the Unison power company said more than 3000 customers had no electricity. The companyâs website said the problems werenât expected to be resolved until Tuesday afternoon.
A local 4WD group posted online offering to help rescue people stuck in buildings in the city, with one saying he had to retreat after rescuing one person, as the water was already at bonnet level.
Some Napier schools have said they will be closed on Tuesday due to the flooding.

Forecasters warned Hawkeâs Bay residents that up to 130mm of rain could cause surface flooding and driving hazards from this afternoon, when rainfall rates could reach up to 40mm/h during thunderstorms. With âanother burst of heavy rain possible on Tuesday.â
Brewster Street 17-year-old Jesse Pether said a slip outside his house had completely blocked the road, and sent floodwaters into a neighbouring house.
âI had my back turned and it sounded like thunder crashing, and it was this slip from two doors down just across the road â trees falling, poles and mud everywhere, and then water flooding it up, like a huge pool.â
Napier South resident Amanda said the amount of water was daunting.
âItâs just as though thereâs a river going down the road, and Iâve lived here off and on since I was three, Iâve never seen anything like it.â

RNZ Reporter Tom Kitchin told RNZâs Checkpoint he had been trapped in his office during the evening by flooding outside the building and torrential rain.
âThe rain is very heavy⌠I donât want to go outside because I know a whole lot of water will come into the office, itâs that bad at the moment. I can see the roads are flooded all over.
âFire and Emergency NZ are quite busy⌠theyâre just getting multiple calls. A lot of buildings have been flooded, thereâs a lot of surface flooding, and Iâm just hearing sirens blaring all the time at the moment.â
Hawkeâs Bay Medical Officer of Health Nick Jones said floodwaters could carry bugs that cause disease from the ground surface and sewerage systems.
Dr Jones said people shouldnât eat any food that has been in contact with flood waters, and should avoid contact with the water.

Napier City Council said by 8pm Monday more than 110mm of water had fallen at Napier Airport since the start of the day, with about 100mm falling between 12pm and 8pm.
âDue to the significant amount of rainfall, manhole covers were beginning to lift, and the escaping water would have caused a public health risk.
âSo the decision was taken to release pressure from the wastewater network and discharge wastewater at 5:45 pm this evening, into the Purimu stormwater stream, which flows out to sea through the Ahuriri Estuary.â
The regional council environmental team will monitor the stormwater network as well as at several other locations for a number of days, to trace the effects of the discharge.
The city council said the deluge was causing problems for the wastewater network, but the emergency discharge to the Ahuriri Estuary should relieve some of that strain.
Residents have been asked to avoid flushing toilets, and hold off using showers, dishwashers or washing machines, to try to relieve stress on the network.

A restaurant open only for four months has been completely flooded in Emerson Street.
Andrew Beck owns Rock My Belly, along with his wife, and said the deluge started heavily just after 4pm.
âIt came through everywhere. The fire brigade said âthereâs nothing that can withstand this amount of waterâ, and it just came through and flooded the entire place, the brand new flooring, everything.
âWeâve only been open four months, we made it through Covid, and now â torrential rain.â
MetService Heavy Rain warnings
MetService warned heavy rain could fall in Hawkeâs Bay south of Wairoa, and Gisborne until 1am Tuesday.
Thunderstorms could bring intense downfalls from the afternoon onwards, and could reach 25mm/h to 40mm/h in thunderstorms.
On top of what had fallen during the day, they said a further 70 to 100mm of rain could fall in the ranges in the evening and into the night, with 40 to 70mm elsewhere.
Forecasters warned that more heavy rain could be coming on Tuesday, too.
Photo: MetService
Heavy rain and thunderstorms could also strike Tararua district between 7pm tonight and 7am tomorrow, with up to 100mm of rain possible and downpours up to 25mm/h.
Wairarapa and the eastern hills of Wellington could expect heavy rain from 9pm Monday to 11am Tuesday, with up to 110mm expected in some parts, and intensities up to 20mm/h.
âA front in the east of the North Island should sink southwards during today and tomorrow morning, delivering heavy rain,â MetService said on Monday.
âOn Tuesday, a low is forecast to track east across the upper North Island, delivering rain to many places.â
Heavy rain could hit the Coromandel Peninsula on Tuesday from 6am, and the Bay of Plenty from 11am.

A view from the coastal path opposite our campsite.

A sense of nostalgia took us to Cornwall in July.We spent many happy years exploring the Watergate bay and Newquay area from a childâs perspective.Every place we visited had to be child friendly including the camp sites.Visiting outside the school holidays is so very different and Cornwall truly is one of the most beautiful places in Britain,if not the world.
The coastal path provides some spectacular views across Watergate bay
Its been at least 10 years since we camped ; we had the equipment, which was stored protectively in the garage. Many questions enter your head : have rats got inside and set up home, would the car cope with the journey from Essex ,would we cope with the dreaded toilet blocks resembling traps at a dog track. We decided to go for it.

Watergate Bay holiday camp which was clean with friendly staff , many different types of pitches, an indoor swimming pool and a skatepark, (sadly I forgot my board). Above all fantastic weather , which Iâm sorry to say cannot be guaranteed .Newquay airport is close by but doesnât spoil the peacefulness of the camp as flights are infrequent and start and finish on a strict timetable.

Our Reto trailer tent (the help had a day off today)
View to Watergate bay and caravans with identification flags
Watergate bay is one of the best beaches in Cornwall, clean and safeâ patrolled by the RNLI who were doing a great job during our stay. being ,vigilant and training to improve their people and rescue skills.

Watergate bay
Watergate bay has great facilities ,carparking (which is free after 4pm),restaurants, hire shops and a takeaway. Toilets can be found in the carpark. Try the muscles and cocktails at the beachside restaurant, great on a hot sunny day. A walk along the beach provided us with some nostalgic memories of beach tents , buckets and spades (which we still had in the tent),rock pools, and body boarding .The water was dead calm when we took the body board out and I got into my wetsuit just (no picture provided to protect my dignity).
A great place to visit.

19th April 2017
My alarm went off at 0700. I have never felt so tired in my life. I probably have, I say that every time I have to wake up early. I stayed in bed for 15 extra minutes before getting into the shower. I had to wash my hair which is an absolute nightmare. There was only one other girl getting ready at the same time as me. I feel your pain sister. Shower done, hair done, makeup done. I put my new work trousers on and a white floral shirt. I bent down to sort my bag out and I heard my trousers rip. I felt it right in the seam of my bum. I couldn't believe it - I was mortified. I ran to the toilets to check and thankfully, they hadn't made a hole, yet. The sewing had come apart. I need to lose weight. I woke Steve up at 0915 as he said he wanted breakfast. We went down and had some cereal together. I had to leave for my first interview at 0940 latest. Steve was awake and said he'd come along with me for the day. He likes to walk around new places to see what he can find so he would be fine if I was going to be a few hours. We left the hostel and got onto the Lilydale Line for two stops. The train was already there when we got on the platform so it was brilliant timing. I would've been late otherwise. We were at the cafe by 1000, my interview & trial wasn't until 1030. We walked around for a bit and sat in a different cafe. I didn't order anything because knowing me, I'd get it down my top. I left Steve and went into the cafe. I said I was here to see Sera and she introduced herself straight away. She was quite young, very energetic and made me feel really at ease. I had to trial first so I had to clear the tables, take orders and sit people down. It was really easy and the other staff were friendly too. They were very laid back which helped with my nerves. Sera kept on telling me how well I was doing throughout, too. After awhile, we sat down for the interview. She basically told me I got the job and asked whether I could go back tomorrow around 1600 to talk to the managers regarding pay, rota and how it would work. I was so excited. I walked back to find Steve in McDonald's (obviously) but he didn't order anything. He was using the free wifi. We walked around for a bit but I was stupidly hot in my outfit. Typical that my interviews would be on the hottest day this week. We got the train back to the hostel and we chilled out for a bit before my next interview. Around 1345, we left to catch the train on the Frankston line. It was 2 stops to South Yarra. It was much prettier than the last place. The last place was very quiet, hardly any people or cars. I arrived 45 minutes early for this interview so again we sat in a cafe. We ordered a baguette as we hadn't eaten yet. They were only $5, I couldn't believe how cheap they were. I left Steve at 1430. My interview was in a massive office block - level 3, suite 25. I began to get really nervous. I find the hardest part of interviews is making sure I've found the correct place on time. I walked in and there were quite a few people having interviews. Some wearing jean shorts and one brought her friend to sit with her. So strange. I had my interview with a man that was very much like my dad, except he was a massive fan on TOWIE. When I walked in and started talking, he said "OMG. YOU'RE FROM ESSEX". I started laughing and he went on a massive tangent about how much he loved TOWIE. He went on about Lydia and Arg's relationship and how Gemma gets involved... He has watched from series 1 to 18 religiously. He told me when he visits England, he's going to go Brentwood and Sugar Hut for a night out. He was brilliant. He made my day. After awhile he said that I got the job, WOOP! My Essex routes definitely did that for me... He then broke the news about it not starting for another 5 weeks! I didn't say no because who knows what will be happening in 5 weeks time but deep down I knew I would be home by then without employment. I left the interview, still with the biggest smile on my face. That man was so happy. I bet he goes home and tells his wife how he met someone from Essex. I found Steve in the barbers getting his mop cut. I'm not sure if it's the weather, but our hair, nails and bellies are growing so much quicker! We went into 7-11 to get a $1 Slurpie to celebrate. A homeless lady was in there shoplifting little bits. She was scary. She had 3-4 bags that were full of items. I accidentally got in the way of her as she tried to run out of the shop. She barged me with her bags and turned around screaming at me "YOU BITCH. YOU, YEAH YOU. NASTY LITTLE BITCH YOU". She scared the hell out of me but luckily she was running in a different direction. Steve and I got onto the train to go back to the hostel. We got in and I got out of my clothes. I love being in lounge clothes. My pyjamas are on the second I get in at home. I was tired and I had a day full of nerves so I treated myself to an hour nap. Steve's phone started ringing and it was the recruiter for the removals company. He's been invited for an interview tomorrow at 1030 so fingers crossed for that. Steve woke me up at 1700 to go down to make dinner with Megan and Dan. We sat down chatting for an hour or two before even moving. Sera, from the cafe text me to say that she basically had too much staff and cannot guarantee employment. Broken. I was so upset. Why tell me I got the job if you've employed too many people? Why lie to me? I sat there with the hump for 5 minutes until it got worse. Kat got a text from Sera after I got mine. Her text said "Hi Kat, could you come in tomorrow at 1600? I'd like to meet you and see how interested in the role you are". WHAT! WHY? You have enough staff apparently so why are you asking for more?! This woman was clearly lying and she had no idea that Kat and I knew each other. I text her back asking what was going on because someone I knew had been invited in the next day. I put the text polite and professional and she replied "Just need to get through the next week. Sorry babe". Arughhhh. My phone rang in the next 2 minutes and I answered. It was a man asking me to come in for a trial shift at 0830 tomorrow morning. I agreed to it and they text me the address. It was only a 15 minute tram ride away, just a little further in from the Queen Victoria market. They requested that I wore a black work shirt and black trousers. I had to run to Target at 1900 to buy a black shirt which was a pain in the behind. I've kept my receipts because apparently you can get the money back through your tax refund for work stuff. Fingers crossed. By the time I got back, I wasn't hungry. I couldn't be bothered to make dinner and I was just in a really poor mood. Today has been an emotional rollercoaster and I wanted to go to bed. Steve made egg, bacon and beans. We went up to bed around 2130 as my alarm was on for 0630.
