Reblogging cuz idk if my followers know about this yet and I'm tryna spread the word because this amount of injustice is absolutely sick. Apparently in 2001 they imprisoned this man for the robbing and murder of a family with no proof, no DNA test whatsoever basically just on a hunch pretty much like "I just got a feeling bro" and nothing was done. In 2024 he was to be put on death row for no reason again even though the victims families were against it and pretty much everyone actually but the jury did not listen till word got to the government and the government said to just imprison him and continue on with the investigation till a new government came into power and threw that all away. Now Marcellus was on death row again and I think there was even a court case but the guy defending Marcellus got sent home or something because they said his hair was unprofessional for a lawyer and messy (at least that's what i heard on a tiktok) and the case was cancelled that day. I think they said it was meant to be rescheduled but the jury rejected and said he was meant to be put on death row immediately. The video also said the jury were tryna rush the execution as well so over a thousand signatures all over america were signed including the victims families who also signed (mind you the signatures were so Marcellus could peacefully continue his life imprisonment sentence from 2001 and not get executed) but luckily the test results were out before the execution and the DNA test results showed he didn't do it but the jury still decided to go on with the execution and the current government in power didn't rlly care and permitted it so yeah that's where we are now. I think i heard marcellus died yesterday too unfortunately such a sad story.

MISSOURI, SEPTEMBER 12 (The Innocence Project) — Today, the Circuit Court for St. Louis County, Missouri denied Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell’s motion to vacate Marcellus Williams’ conviction and death sentence.

Prosecuting Attorney Bell filed the motion based on new DNA testing conducted on forensic evidence collected at the crime scene that conclusively excluded Mr. Williams as the person who killed Felicia Gayle in 1998.

After considering the evidence of Mr. Williams’ innocence and other constitutional errors in his trial, the court nevertheless ruled that vacatur was not warranted under Missouri law.

Mr. Williams is scheduled to be executed on September 24.

Marcellus’ attorney Tricia Rojo Bushnell said in a statement:

“The decision of a prosecutor to move to vacate a murder conviction and death sentence is not done lightly. Prosecuting Attorney Bell filed a motion because there is overwhelming evidence that Marcellus Williams’ trial was constitutionally unfair, including revelations that the State contaminated the most critical evidence in the case—the murder weapon. We will continue pursuing every possible option to prevent Mr. Williams’ wrongful execution. There is still time for the courts or Governor Parson to ensure that Missouri does not commit the irreparable injustice of executing an innocent person."

We now have to do everything in our power to help stop Marcellus’ impending execution on September 24.

So that said, seeing as how millions and millions of people are not disabled, parents, minors, or unemployed and thus are capable of doing a Lot more than than minors or the disabled, especially in person... why aren't they doing it?

Why are chronically online & abled leftists yelling at each other online more than they actually do anything?

We lived under Trump once already which should've been a massive red flag to how unorganized liberational spaces are and to how few people are in those spaces in actually good faith.

There weren't Enough people that placed human rights over the rule of law or price of property for these orgs to make serious headway, especially politically as we are finding out through a fascist wave targeting activists and trans people. This is no doubt, the result of the average person calling the BLM and anti fascist protesters under Trump "violent extremists"

It became clear the average person is quicker to post about "fighting" for rights than they are to actually you know...fight for their rights against fascism or to even support the people who do fight fascism.

Then we had a democrat for 4 years which should've been who we organized under. Right? Or am I misremembering how every blue voter insisted a blue president was safer and easier to organize under?

Because I'm looking around rn at fascist militias getting hyped to start a race war, Trump's intention to strip minorities of our rights, police who are excited to put their Cop City training to use, and I'm wondering how exactly were gonna fight people in guns with the power of...what? Leftist infighting and liberal delusions that people who literally believe US elections are rigged will...respect votes? The same people who already tried storming the Capitol once over an election?

Votes in elections that they might not even win are supposed to be what stops police and bigots from killing people? From putting people in detention centers? From unfairly separating queer kids from supportive parents? If you blame 3rd party voters hard enough will we get Roe v Wade back?

No.

Is my copy of Marx going to stop the police from harassing me? Are they gonna quiz me and only haul me off if my theory isn't based in dialectical materialism which is the True threat of leftism? Are they gonna means test my mutual aid and make sure I have enough Leftist Cred to be considered a real threat?

So, if there is anyone out there thats more abled than minors, disabled people, etc then they need to start carrying their weight and stop acting like theyre incapable of taking the same exact actions the right is taking. They need to stop the holier than thou online circle jerking.

The way these privileged people are acting I'm starting to think they're under the impression someone else (BIPOC activists) will save everyone again.

Thing is. There is no more mass influence of the Black Panthers, A.I.M, Women's liberation Front, or Gay Liberation Movements pressing the goverment or anyone to make social change. There is no MLK jr. They would all be considered "extremist" today even if they were around to save anyone.

So, I understand being privileged means you're not accustomed to fighting for rights or putting yourselves in positions of discomfort, but I'm gonna need everyone to get accustomed to it. You don't have another choice despite popular belief.

And our rights will not suddenly be re-established out of thin air.

Because for fascists, their way of living is under threat. Do we all understand that? They're scared. Scared of all of us realizing what power we have and actually doing something with it. Something like ending US imperliasm or treating BIPOC like human beings or giving (overseas) workers their fair share of profits.

Theyre scared of us ending their bigoted systems and way of living that forces the rest of us and the planet to be exploited. They're so scared they're organizing with guns and training and learning how to infiltrate leftist orgs just to maintain it.

And they're only scared cuz they know we have power.

So everyone has got to quit acting like they're less smart and less capable then your racist uncles, disabled gradmas, and minors.

Nobody has ever won their freedom from their oppressors by being the Bigger Person. Quit acting like people so deep in far right antisemitic conspiracy theories like jewish cabals, covid denialism, and qanon are gonna see how dignified we act and suddenly be inspired to change their ways and realize they're wrong.

They wont. You've been gaslit and played into believing the lies of people who preach "civility" then send bombs to kill children.

Yes, absolutely to deprogram your extremist family members so they stop voting like extremists every election. But where that fails, take other avenues and prepare to have to fight when those extremists win.

Don't forget we live in a country that has racism and false histories baked into its laws & schools programs. Don't forget our problems are systemic and WILL affect the minds of anyone not actively seeking out the truth.
