The Bakers Creek Heirloom seed packets aren't so small either. And look at that package design! The hyacinth seed pack reminds me of the cover of Band On the Run and that makes me happy because it makes me think of one of my favorite bands of all time Paul McCartney and Wings. The free seed variety that they tossed in with my order (my white snowbank blackberries are preordered) was tomato black vernissage. Sounds like a French heirloom 🇫🇷 I didn't expect the free seed to be so fancy! And I was so happy to find hyacinth beans again. I haven't found the seeds in stores since that first and only pack I had as a new gardener. I loved those so much. It's just an ornamental but they are truly jack and the beanstalk beans. When they germinate the whole thing pops out of the ground overnight about four inches tall. Then they grow to be ten or fifteen feet. Our first big harvest, AKA, the Uncrackening. One of the things I learned from last season's heirloom tomatoes is that I need to harvest all the ripening tomatoes before a major influx of rain to prevent cracking. We picked the two deep red ones the other day and they are ready to eat. The bright green tomatoes are actually "green when ripe" tomatoes and we'll explore them tomorrow.
