Made a new end table for my wife. The piece of wood with the branch split is a piece of the black walnut I'd let cure.

One of two beautiful candle holders or plant pots that was made over the week! Pete has done it again with his redneck Wrought Iron. Finally got a start on the large commission for curtain rods and hooks after a couple months worth of delays. Took an extra half hour to make a curtain rod lifter for the wife since she's about a foot shorter than me. Decided to put plastic feathers on the arrow I was making instead of real ones just to finish it and try it out. Works quite well on a hollow steel door with a 20lb bow.

Last Saturday I gave a shot at making a different style of knife I'd never tried making before. Last picture is before the final touches.

Started work on a few spike hangers for pounding into trees. Didn't get as far as I wanted to since it gets dark so early this time of year.

Did a practice run on the curtain rod holders I'd made for our place. Used a section of 3/8 rod to see how it would look and work. Gives me a chance to do some practical thinking for a large commission I just got for the same.

Alright people, gather 'round the fire. It's storytime with Brian. This last Monday I'd been using a wire wheel without safety glasses. One of the wires came out and hit me in the left eye. It punctured through my eyelid and into my eyeball. Missed my iris by about a milometer or two. I was able to flush my eye with clean water and remove the wire myself before going to the hospital. The specialists checking me out in the hospital all had a good laugh every time they'd give me a vision test. One gave me a vision test because he didn't quite believe the charts and thought it was funny what the other doctors told him. When they had me read the lines, the figured out that even after the injury to my left eye, my left eye still has 20/20 vision and better vision than my uninjured right eye. They all were quite impressed and had a few laughs with me over it because the couldn't believe how that worked out. Had a two hour surgery to put one stitch in the white of my eye. Anyways my eye is doing a ton better and my vision is 85% back to normal.

Finished one put of two birthday gifts for my sister. ( Don't worry she's not on Tumblr.) Hairpin and a bottle opener with an antler handle. Just need to drill the holes for the handle and put it on.

And the results are in from testing the prototype axe. What was learned is that it is effective in splitting wood. Even hardwood thicker than a size 13 boot. But due to the design of the edge, it has a spring to it that takes away from it's chopping ability. Bending the bottom of the blade back to touch the handle should solve that. Will also have to shorten the handle and put a twist in it for better grip.

Pardon the bad lighting, but finished up putting the strap onto an eyepatch I'm making. One of the eyedrops I'm taking dialates my pupil so I decided to make a Star Trek/ Klingon inspired eyepatch. Have to make some minor adjustments to fit under the ear.
