The technology that goes into TV production is insane. Above are 80 12Gbit inputs and 80 outputs. (Each capable of moving 4k 60fps uncompressed video stream.)
This is very impressive
This highlights the insane amount of technology (read: deep mining, toxic chemicals, plastic, non-recyclable electronics) and resources (power needed to manufacture, transport, and operate) inherent in any large TV and multimedia production.
It's only $9995!
ugh. eye candy. only $3800 and $5500. I don't even need one but i want four of them.
4k 60fps, records BRAW. I'll buy seven right now. Someone take my credit card
non-pocket cinema camera 6k, this time with a full frame sensor. It records 6k BRAW footage and h.264 proxy at the same time. It's only $2600 but I won't buy it because I already bought seven Micro Studio Cameras and my credit card melted.
They also made an iPhone camera app that gives you proper manual control, and uploads semi-automatically to blackmagic cloud? and then it goes directly to your Resolve timelines?
sometimes you do have to wonder how do they consistently produce so many things as a small, privately held company with revenue 500x smaller than Google, and 30x smaller than Adobe, yet somehow producing better products than both of them.
#random rant#blackmagic design#love their clever designs#hate the inherent consumerism in media production

Transform Your Budget Filmmaking: Top Tips & Gear
Filmmaking is more accessible than ever thanks to a range of affordable cameras that don't skimp on quality. This guide explores the best budget-friendly cameras tailored for filmmaking in the USA and covers essential aspects like cinematography, post-production, and sound design. Additionally, we'll share essential tips on crafting dynamic dialogue that not only reveals character but also propels the plot forward, ensuring every line of dialogue enriches your cinematic story.
Top Budget-Friendly Cameras for Filmmakers
Choosing the right camera is crucial for budget filmmakers. Here are some top choices:
Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K - Known for its professional film quality
Canon EOS M50 - Offers excellent video capabilities with compact versatility
Sony Alpha a6400 - Praised for its autofocus and sharp image quality
Panasonic Lumix GX85 - Great for handheld shots with excellent stabilization
Nikon Z 50 - Ideal for filmmakers who want a robust mirrorless experience
Optimizing Cinematography with Budget Cameras
Even with budget cameras, filmmakers can achieve cinematic excellence. Enhance your cinematography by investing in quality lenses; they transform your image quality more than any camera body could. Experiment with settings to find your unique aesthetic, such as adjusting frame rates for smooth slow-motion effects or tweaking ISO for the perfect balance of light. Always use natural light, and stabilize your shots with a tripod or a steadicam for professional-grade footage.
Editing and Color Grading on a Budget
Post-production refines and elevates your footage. Even on a budget, software like Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro offer immense control. Techniques in color grading can define the mood and style of your film. Don't shy away from using creative filters and effects to give your film a unique look. Consider outsourcing complex post-production tasks if you need more refined skills in editing and color correction.
Mastering Sound Design with Affordable Tools
Sound design is critical and should never be an afterthought in filmmaking. Good quality sound can transform a decent scene into an immersive sensory experience. Use external microphones such as shotgun or lavalier mics for clarity and depth in your audio. Experimenting with microphone placement can also dramatically affect the quality of your audio. Utilize noise reduction techniques to reduce unwanted background noise.
Dynamic Dialogue Writing
Dialogue drives the narrative forward and reveals the depths of characters. Avoid unnecessary exposition—show, don't tell. Employ subtext to give scenes more depth and avoid on-the-nose dialogue. Every line should serve a purpose, whether it's revealing character traits or advancing the plot. Sometimes, what characters don't say can be as powerful as their spoken words; use silence strategically to build tension or signify relationships.
Combining budget-friendly filmmaking equipment with the right techniques in dialogue, sound design, and post-production can lead to stunning results. Keep pushing the boundaries of what your gear can do and remember: creativity is your most valuable asset in filmmaking.

2106 19Mar24: Chapter 79.
Though the trip was ultimately a failure, we attempted to make it be worth it by eating some really good food and then visiting a church that attracts tourists.
I ended up driving the long leg up and the long leg down, and it honestly was a nice drive. I liked it so much that I am looking to maybe schedule a trip to Baguio for my birthday week. Only problem with the birthday week idea is that rainy season starts around that time so we could be playing with fire... or literally random downpours or even an entire week of wet weather, which would just destroy the adventure....
I got around to editing my photos from my Canon 5Dmk2, which I have to say felt good to shoot with but at the same time felt almost foreign because I've gotten so use to the blackmagic pocket cinema camera 4k or the Canon 60d where the screen pops out.. any way it was great.
Suppose I will attempt to go to sleep soon.. but I knew I had to make a post!

Choppa Preparation (My Role Pt.2)
As my role was to be in charge of the video production on show day, I decided to read up and learn about some of the equipments i was going to be using, which was the BlackMagic cameras.
I watched a couple of youtube videos on how it operates, and also some tips and tricks on filming a concert, as i do not have a lot of experience in video. As i have experience as a photographer, i knew the basics of how a camera works in terms of lighting, framing and composition.
The camera we used were the BlackMagic Design Pocket Cinema 4K cameras. They are dedicated video cameras that are able to capture video in 4K for extended periods of time without buffering.
I wanted to make sure that we had a proper stage layout first before i started brainstorming some ideas for where to place the camera during bump-in day, to make sure we get the best angles possible.
