Listen I love black businesses, I’m all about black businesses! If you want to Support your local one , do so and help them to grow always. But I think there’s something important that I feel people aren’t talking about with black businesses and that’s the matter of Customer Service.

Now look, IDC what race you are, If someone approaches/walks into your business and they are not met with even the basic bare bones of customer service not only is that not a good look on your business at all, but they will not be coming back nor will they recommend you to any of their friends, family or colleagues. I can take this mess from non-black people that don’t like me they’re just ignorant and have failing business anyway, but it absolutely pains me that there have been so many times where I go to black businesses & are often met with lackluster and even awful customer service.

In line at a Black owned restaurant, an old woman at the register flat out ignored my mother and I for whatever reason and looked over us to try and help the man behind us. A Black owned hair supply I entered for 5 minutes had a very irritated and snippy crew who legit treated me like a known criminal. A black hair salon I went to ignored me for nearly 2 1/2 hours under a dryer and then abraisively charged me way more than what was originally quoted for a basic wash and flat iron because, get this, “your hair texture is “different” (3a) and the length of your hair (mid-back) took longer than normal”. Years back a Black owned plumbing business my father hired was absolutely awful to him and lowkey thew verbal jabs on the quality of his house while doing squat to milk out more money. He fired them immediately and got a group of white dudes who completed the job in a day. I could go on.....

All of these services I mentioned I’m gonna have to say I’ve gotten better treatment at non-black places. I know I’m very sorry, and I know not all black businesses are like this, but again it hurts when I do try to support my local black business and are met with the worst service like...A huge part of running a business is making sure your customer satisfaction is high so that they’ll promote your business and thus attract more people, but...if you don’t do that, how do you expect to thrive?? Like really consider that! Help the customers to help y’all!!

That’s just my 2¢ on the matter
