Whenever some white fandom thing like The Amazing Digital Circus or Dr Who or 911 or literally anything trends on here, I sure hope y'all are going out of your way to accuse people in those tags of not caring about Palestine and condescendingly lecture them about "real" social issues! Or is that attitude reserved for black women discussing Kendrick Lamar? 🤔🤔🤔

Tori is a very different character from the rest of them and I can see why that bothers people. If you like the main cast, it would make sense that you wouldn't like Tori as much, for me it works the other way round but it's for the same reasons, because the main cast can be split into character types were as Tori can not
Jade is the angry one
Cat the quirky one, she is basically a manic pixie dream girl
Robby is the weird one
Rex is a creep
Beck is the cool guy
Trina is the annoying one
Whilst they are obviously more complicated than this, they have key characters traits that define them and lend themselves well to comedy
(Andre is the only one actively hindered by being defined by one characteristic as it is already a racist trope. I don't think that's what the screenwriters intended and I think they were actually trying to work against with some of his characterisation but he is frequently just support, has the most obvious attitude out of the crew and he is also continually cast in relationships with specifically black or mixed race women which would be less problematic if the other characters dated people of colour and he dated anyone who wasn't black. He is also criminally underutilised, my second favourite character and he rarely gets the spotlight)
But Tori is more complex, she is the point of view character so she is entirely new to the environment but she has a great deal of ambition, mixed with an initial fear of performing on stage (to explain why she isn't already part of the school) which they made her get over pretty quickly. Her ambition sometimes blinds her to what's happening around her and she can be impulsive as her blind ambition means she fails to consider what comes next or fails to consider all sides. She is also really kind, helping out her friends frequently, but that often gets overlooked by the fandom as, unlikely a lot of kind female characters, she is allowed to have a backbone. She refuses to let people walk over her and, if you push her far enough she will get rude, but the fandom only focuses on her being rude. She is also the most compassionate of the group, she is shown to think about others the most but this tends to happen after the fact, so also gets missed by the fans, because she is impulsive. She can end up putting too much on her plate as well because she doesn't think things through fully
She is the most complex character in the show (the others are made complex by their actors efforts) and this ends up clashing with the other character and we instinctively find it hard to buy that this properly fleshed out character exists in a world of archetypes, making her easy to dislike. It's a writing issue
This is only made worse by her constantly being the centre of attention in stories where it does feel like she has earnt her place as the most important character or would even care about it. But that is a writing problem. The show decided to make her the centre of attention and then went from there, causing the stories and other characters to suffer as a result. Herr character wouldn't like it happening either as she is consistently happy when her friends are allowed to succeed over her. But she never gets to question the status quo because the writer's don't let her. Tori's character being impulsive enough to not question then shifts the burden of blame for her being the centre of attention onto her character because if she was ever allowed to question it, the other characters would be given a chance to shine. But she's not allowed to question it because the writer's messed up without realising it and caused every single character to suffer for it
But ultimately, the issues with Tori's character are issues with the writing rather than her character's character. She was a great character but she could have been amazing if the writers hadn't messed up
It's really interesting to see the hatred for Tori's character on Victorious because she gets absolutely vilified for like no reason? Oh she's boring? Or oh she's so annoying and I hate her? And it's like cool, do you wanna break it down and try to explain it to me or are we gonna leave it there, just gonna leave it there okay
