Album anniversary - "Haven"(8.5.2015*)!

Today marks the 9th anniversary of the release my absolute favourite music album of all time, so I allowed myself to share my love for it with anyone who might come across my messy blog. Kamelot is the second band I fell in love with exceptionally hard - eventually, it took the place previously held by my early-teens super favourite band Nightwish, and hasn't been toppled ever since.

"Haven" is basically my comfort album - it never fails to calm me down and bring back so many happy memories.

I love its kind-of story (if you don't know, it isn't exactly a concept album), themes - of hope, feeling alone, love, finding your safe place in a corrupt world - and overall melodies. I can't even decide which song is the best one to recommend to someone who's never heard the album. So, I decided to share the one with the most interesting music video (in my opinion) - "My Therapy":

And the second (and last) track I want to specifically mention is one of the most heartfelt songs about hope I've ever heard - I'll let its lyrics speak for themselves:

I am only on season 3 of My Hero Academia and I'm currently in the middle of rewatching Ouran. I really want to get into some other anime though. However... I won't watch Goblin slayer..For reasons.

Make A Change...Kill Yourself

One Man Metal from Denmark. DSBM (Depressive Suicidal Black Metal). This is a perfect album for a working rainy day like today. Overall I have a tough time with the title or even DSBM in general because I'm worried that it promotes very destructive behavior both to oneself and potentially others. Setting aside that musically the piece is well done--it's very clear and deliberate beautiful black metal that is not what you would expect. However, there is something that stops me from going deeper on this guy because of the promotion of sui****.

327. Alkahest - Kvelgeyst (Black Metal, 2019)

The identities of the creators of the manuscript remain something of a mystery. The name of the Augsburg artist and printmaker Hans Burgkmair appears on one page of the manuscript. Till-Holger Borchert, an expert in German Medieval art, suggests that, as Burgkmair the Elder died in the 1530s, the artist in question here must be his son, Hans Burgkmair the Younger, who is much less well attested by known works.

The manuscript has no introduction, title page, list of contents or dedication that would be usual for the time. Instead it launches straight into its sequence of illustrations and commentary. It is written in rough chronological order, from the Old Testament through various phenomena and portents from Antiquity up to the time of production and finishing with the Book of Revelation

The Promise of Oblivion

DSBM From Australia. 2017 album. The track, 'I'll Buy the Rope' is by far the best on the album. Super sad and melodic that hits in a similar way that Leviathian does. They haven't been releasing a bunch of singles recently, but no full LPs since 2020. They look pretty hardcore and this is a great DSBM piece, one of the best I've heard in a while.
