Welcome to Revenge of the Underrated!

Some of you asked me to put a "haven't watched both" to be more fair to the more unknown movies, but I've seen other tournaments doing this and I think it limits too much who can participate in the polls. So what I decided to do is a double elimination!

What does that mean? That means a movie has to lose twice to be eliminated. In other words, there will be a sorts of losers bracket that'll be part of main bracket. I'm undecided on whether to do this for only one round or the whole bracket, as it would make the tournament very long. Do let me know if you have any opinion about it.

Chronicles of the Black Company From the Book of the Lady Faction War 3342 Division 2 Day 1

In those days the Company was in service to the Bouncing Blue Brigade. In the face of the rising Unification threat, the great free companies banded together to establish Factions. As always the Major Powers reacted with fear to expel us from their territory, but in a direction that would cause our forces to be a buffer between them an the expected attack.

The problem was that with each of the Major Powers pushing the free companies out, this placed the growing factions together in the rich and poorly policed Jewelled Cities, famous for their corruption, their riches, and their eternal delight in treachery.

The expected results surfaced almost instantly. Reports of large caches of mecha and material were detected in the great deserts between Ranke and Illsig, the two great cities on either sides of the Great Suffering, the somewhat prosaic name for the pirate haunted semi radioactive wasteland between the great industrial hive cities of Ranke and Illsig.

Our garrison was located at Sanctuary, a former Rankan outpost that they had seized from Illsig in their rise to power, and let slip away during their last civil war. The local prince (nicknamed Kitty-cat, not affectionately) had no balls and fewer troops. He did have us on retainer to defend Sanctuary in the event of attack as a clause in our lease agreement for the former Rankan base. We had thought it a safe inclusion as Sanctuary was a dirt poor crap hole both empires sent their least promising and most embarrassing members to go and die without embarrassing the motherland. Nobody wanted it.

I was North of Sanctuary on the edges of the Great Suffering on a patrol. My personal command, The Ten Who Were Taken had began as the penal company of the Defenders of Bunny and grown into one of the strongest and strangest formations in the Clan. There were the mad, the bad, the broken, the dangerous and those simply without any particular moral compass who require a strong hand and savage punishments to remain useful soldiers, and who thrive under such discipline as would break less hardy and more rational troops.

There had been zero smuggling attempts through the Fangs of Yss, a broken ferrite butte filled badland bordering the Great Suffering whose sensor bending and communication distorting magnetics made it the preferred smuggler route to the port of Sanctuary (sea, starport or gate, if you wanted it smuggled, Sanctuary had you covered). The utter lack of crime was an alarm we could not ignore.

There wasn’t a single scrap of communication, not a single active sensor, the enemy came out of the wastes like ghosts, moving out of the hazy cloud like a half seen mirage, and any rational person would have paused for a moment trying to determine if it was real, or illusion. There are no rational people in the Ten Who Were Taken.

Croaker dropped his left arm laser battery on the half seen shadow and cut loose with a Blade Runner. The cyan hell lance lit the scene like a camera flash long enough for the truth to register. The blue spear of coherent light bore through the flat slab armour of a jade green Dreadnought whose barrels were just spinning up to unleash the chain gun fury that made the design the king of cannon before we could build hundred tonners.

The guns were spinning up, so were the shields, and that was time the Dreadnought didn’t have. First kill to the Bouncing Blue Berserkers.

He snapped out a report as the Dreadnought died.

“Contact, one platoon, Sharks with Frigging Lasers”

It was a report and a prophesy. Croaker’s dark blue Fext looked almost like a photographic negative as the VBL laser from the enemy Fext returned kill for kill and pumped enough energy into Croaker’s machine that half its internals converted to sun hot plasma that jetted from his machine like an obscene imitation of wings as it’s guts blew out its back baffles.

A second Dreadnought rocked The Eye with chain gun fire that staggered it, breaking the optical lock the Cyclops had, and preventing its returning fire. Even surprised, the Sharks were apex predators and there was blood in the water.

I am The Lady, and no one but me is allowed to kill my people. Stalking my Regis forward, I screamed my rage from my Blue Dragon, cutting through the hip bearings of a Torrent and sawing the machine in half before whirling and pumping the remainder of the blast into the knee of the Fext that dared raise a hand against Croaker. The leg came off, leaving the Fext helplessly tottering.

Blood in the water, but much of it will be theirs.

I called in my report to command, but already Donald Alligood, Richard Hein and Jack Travis were hitting our gate formations and pushing the battle into Sanctuary itself. Outnumbered and outgunned, with the enemy limiting the ground choices, it did not look good for the Bouncing Blue Brigade as a whole.

Looming beside me, the cold grey skull of The Tower unleashed a storm of steel that showed why Penner’s ruled the projectile roost as it hammered the tottering Fext into scrap, shutting down the mecha behind it with enough trample to overwhelm both its shields and its main armour belt in the sort of display that reminds people that brute force gets sneered at for its simplicity only by those who haven’t had no choice but to be on the receiving end of it.

The reports of the Brigade getting pounded at the gates filled me with fury, but while the strategic advantage was to the Sharks, they dared take the field against the Ten Who Were Taken, and there was a punishment for such arrogance. I cut loose with a Cherekov ray, and the shields so carefully and cunningly reworked to resist my Blue Dragons flared scarlet as the lower frequency Cherekov rays shifted downspectrum as they passed through to superheat the hull and detonate the ammunition in the bins, tearing the middle Dreadnought apart. Flicking the beam sideways, I burned the last of it through the side plates below the ape like arms of the coal black Antithesis that was raising its arms to unleash a Ground Pounder assisted barrage he would not live long enough to trigger. The beam cut into the Ground Pounder and unleashed its energy into the Anithesis, gutting its main power as emergency shut offs cut link after link attempting to prevent a nuclear reactor breach.

There were Sharks with Frigging Lasers storming the port of Sanctuary, but the Bouncing Blue Brigade will not give up any ground they hold, even a corrupt little crap hole like this. The war had begun.

if youve been following me for 5+ years, youll remember these guys these are my ocs from an RP group i used to be super active in called Black Jacks Bunny Brigade. This is also my only group of OCs who I age in real time, so they were all due for a design upgrade. so the top row are their original designs from 2011, and the bottom row is what they look like now Theo: has finally graduated from straight red and black. The colors were originally to match the aesthetic of the Brigade. Hes had many iterations of his outfit through the years, and even after he left the Brigade he stuck to red and black. I felt a yellow/gold was more fitting to his personality than red, and since he has no real reason to wear red anymore, I decided to go ahead and change it. I also tossed aside the 4 of Clubs badge on his hat, since that was an indicator for the brigade and is also no longer needed. he still has the same sword cane since it has practical use, and the club motif on his sleeves. He also still owns the badge from his old hat and keeps it displayed on a shelf in his bedroom because it holds immense sentimental value. on another note, somewhere along the way he learned how to tuck in his diddly dang shirt. Lily: has grown quite a bit. The biggest change is that her rabbit ears are no longer there. for those who aren't familliar with her story, her rabbit ears were prosthetics that were sewn to her scalp. and her earmuffs covered her real ears. as she got older she came to terms with the fact that she wasnt actually a rabbit-person, and finally, in 2017, she asked to get them surgically removed. The frills on her shirt are a direct callback to theo's original outfit. Chuckles: that hoodie is familliar. i've drawn it before on him in pictures where i fast forwarded and made him a teenager. now hes reached that age and there it is. he also grew out his hair quite a bit, I took inspiration from Dan Avidan. When I first introduced him as a character, before he even had a canonical design, i described him as having "mousy hair, wild eyes, and a huge grin." As his defining physical traits I want to keep that consistant no matter what age. Allison: Stepping away from the "Cooper family," We have Allison. the focus of her upgrade was her hair. When i originally designed her, I didnt have much experience creating black characters, and didnt put a whole lot of thought into how hair works. but as i was upgrading her i decided that as a character with a very strong sense of social justice, she should have natural hair. Ramsey:Not much has changed with ramsey. after 5 years he figured out how to take the tag out of his ear. Ramseys just a guy who doesnt bother with changing his image unless he absolutely has to. you gotta change your clothes eventually you filthy man.
