Black bladder-bodied meloid beetle, Cysteodemus wislizeni, Meloidae

The black bladder-bodied meloid is a type of blister beetle found in the southwestern United States and down into Mexico. Like other blister beetles, they excrete a defensive liquid called cantharidin, which causes chemical burns and blisters when it comes into contact with the skin and is also a lethal poison when consumed in large quantities.
