New Korean BL - Jazz for Two

Tae Yi (Song Han Gyeom?) hears a familiar melody filling the empty halls and makes his way to the old music room. He knows his brother is dead, but he can’t help but hope, maybe, just maybe...it’s his brother playing his favorite song. When he slams open the door, however, he finds Se Heon (Kim Jin Kwon), a new transfer student, at the piano. Disappointment comes crashing down and Tae Yi can’t control his anger. How dare Se Heon play his brother’s song? How dare he smile? How dare he say he loves jazz?

“If I ever catch you playing the piano again...that’ll be the end of you.”

With two active idols in the leads (we think), odds are not great on this one. So far the only truly successful execution of solid BL from active idols has been Semantic Error (and frankly KNK barely counts). Plus this is the production team/director behind A Shoulder to Cry On which I HATED, so yeah...

I'm excited to have anything new from Korea but I'm keeping my expectations low.

I wish for the thai QL industry to take into the next years consideration that you can not control fans thoughts when you leave everything for them free to interpret and imagine.

The thing is that influences other countries QL industry and fandom reactions too. Like taiwanese actors get backlash too when they date someone outside their ships.... WHEN taiwan doesn't even do fixed ships and all their promo stuff is so obviously more stage acting and guys playing around as bros and actor coworker NOT even implied as couple. But they get treated the same way thai actors get treated by fans.... that sucks.

Fixed ships and some level of fun fanservice wouldn't even be that bad if these companies would be more clear and open about the boundaries and conditions. And explain to their fans that they still can support their favorite actors even if they are not dating who fans want them to. Fans should never have a say in that matter, but hey who am I saying that... The insane crowd isn't here on tumblr fortunately.

The only thing I demand from celebrities who want to be idols is to not be assholes behind the cam. AND to be some kind of moral and emotional support. Because that is the point of idols actually. (not in the sense of possible virtual lover, thank you, that's harmful af and the reason why kpop fans are the way they are).

P’Abl did you know that Opp Weerapong who played Touch in SCOY debuted in a kpop group called THE7? Because I didn’t until I spotted him in a tiktok. No one in the comments section recognized him from the drama though. Maybe that’s for the best…

I did not know this.

I did wonder where he'd gone, there is no way Thailand would just let that boy fade out of the industry. I was expecting him to lead a new pulp of some kind.

I saw THE7 bouncing around my Kpop YouTube but I'm exhausted by 4th Gen these days so I didn't bother to watch (not that I would have recognized him).

Now, of course, I will go investigate.

Given what happened with Boys Planet I don't think there is that much of a stigma anymore (in Korean production houses) on having done BL. I mean Mnet was GUNNING for Kim Ji Woong and he'd done 2 BLs and sort of even cobranded.

He pretty, but he not that pretty (if cultural taboo was still set firmly against him).

Like all things in Hallyu I think we can blame the wave of 2nd & 3rd gens doing BL and paving the way to production house acceptance tolerance.

I'm happy for Opp, he has the right look and I hope he has the talent to carry the group. 4th Gen Kpop needs all the outside blood it can get, Korea seems to have throughly tapped their own base if recent survival shows are anything to go by.

Ohh, I haven't had my coffee yet. I am very salty.

I suppose I should add Opp to the Kpop idol tracking roster.
