Personal challenge: a simple sketch each day

Goal: forcing me to keep things simple - inking, shading, just a few sashes of colour

Improvement pursued: to get the movement, the emotion, finding how to add depth, learning how to leave things barely finished

Max time allowed: 2 hours instead of 8-20 on my previous projects - more like 2h30 here, as usual when I decide to draw wings in this challenge

Today's theme chosen by me:

You previously met my Magpie !Crowley, please now allow me to present you my dear Turtledove!Aziraphale (human form). I am so in love with his wings, inspired by the European Turtledove wings. These wings are quite different from the ones I drew before in my other Good Omens fanarts, but that's because my previous wings were here to express an emotion, a movement, an intention (just like in this WIP here). For this one here, because I really wanted it to be realistic, I had to use some references and flying turtledoves pictures. But I was glad to finally draw something realistic but still inspiring motion AND emotion.

Maybe I’ll use this new knowledge later for ulterior bigger projects.

For your information, Aziraphale’s coat is quite the same as Magpie!Crowley’s. The coats continue in their back then switch to become some long and beautiful bird-tail feathers. I hope someday I’ll be able to draw their backside, so you can see what I imagine for them.

It was a spur of the moment thing. Kairi happened to be in the city running some errands around the time that Crowley was getting off his shift from Hero work, and text him about coming around to hang out for the afternoon and evening. He'd agreed! And they'd met up in front of the townhouse in his and Racahel's name to go inside together.

Once they'd gotten inside and Crowley had reset all the security measures, they mentioned needing to take a quick shower before the two of them did anything for the rest of the day. She'd noticed that he'd looked especially beat up and tired after clocking out, and the thought came to her mind of joining them in the shower to help with some of the clean up and hair washing - it was an excuse to get a better look at the extent of his injuries up close, too. Crowley certainly knew these were her intentions, but he teased her instead about trying to smooth talk her way into some post-heroism shower sex. She rolled her eyes with a little laugh, and gently pushed him towards the direction of his bathroom so that they could start winding down for the rest of the day.

And wouldn't you know it? As they were both getting undressed, she was silently fretting over Crowley's new collection of cuts and bruises. They clocked it immediately, and reassured her that it was just another part of the job. Regardless, Kairi still insisted on taking over the washing of the harder to reach places, like his back and his hair, so that they could take it easy. Whether they were too tired to argue, or thought the pampering would be pretty nice after the day he had, Crowley agreed to let her take care of it.

"Good!" She exclaimed, with hands on naked hips. "Then pop those prosthetics off and have a seat, stinky. I'll set them over here on the counter for you."

"I do actually have a couple of little critters around here! During my work day, they stay in their enclosures, but since I'm home, Papaya and Guacamole are flying around the house— Oh there they are!"

Crowley hobbles over to the pair of lovebird parrots and offers his hand for uppies. The two of them sidle over onto his hand and nibble his metal fingers, "The rosy-faced one is the lovely Papaya and the black cheeked fella is Guac. Got them kind of on impulse after I'd started to get bummed out by coming home to an empty house during the week. Not anyone's fault! Work just keeps us separate..."

After putting the pair back onto one of their MANY home perches, he grips the POV camera and drags everyone reading to a bigger, sandy enclosure, "And inside here is Dolly! You can see her in the back there a little bit. She's a Red-Knee Tarantula. I'd grab her out, but she just molted and I don't want to accidentally hurt her. I caught her back in the kingdom I lived in as a kid a year or two ago. Just snatched her up and brought her back with me! She's been chill about it though."

"Anyhoozles! That's all my pets! Mack has a shit ton of animals though, so maybe stop over there and say hi or something. Toodles!"

... While this wasn't the strangest request he'd ever received, it was certainly one of the strangest ways he'd been asked.

Dr. Black Jack wasn't entirely sure what to make of the small disc he'd found on his doorstep. He was even less sure of how to react when it turned on and projected a 3d recording of what looked to be a man who fought with a paper shredder and lost.

He assumed it was a recording, at least. Whatever technology this was seemed advanced enough to do at least that.

Though... why someone would go through all this effort to ask a time sensitive question about duct tape was beyond him.

"It most certainly would not." he states, though it was more to himself than to the flickering hologram. "Unless there's no other options, you'd have better luck using a torn up shirt as a replacement."

Yeah, guess who made a new au? Nobody is surprised ahah Welcome home, [Birds of a Feather AU]!

The setting is an alternate post-apocalyptic universe where humanity went extinct many millenniums before the start of the story, and nature reclaimed the cities and every part of human structures. The creatures left are divided into seraphim and dominions, and they flock together in groups on the fallen ruins of the old world.

Nobody even remember the time when humans walked on the land, but Aziraphale stumble into some books and slowly learn to decipher the human language 👀

I'm still not over Aziraphale, in his snakeskin-patterned vest, flirting with Crowley while wrapping himself up in a white (aww), bird feather-covered, human accessory inspired by a boa constrictor.

Does quite seem likely that Crowley is the bird-snake feather boa in this analogy, yeah?...

...made funnier by the fact that, even once he has it on, Aziraphale doesn't stop holding it like it's a snake.
