"History will tell you that I am a monster, a slaver, someone who made a living capturing my fellow Agori and selling them to the Skrall. I'd be a fool to lie and pretend I did not do those things; of course I did. But there is more to the story than just that, and there is one thing you need to always remember about history: the winners write all the books."
A Sahmad fanart I made! He's one of my favorite Bionicle characters and I love him so much. He deserved so much better, story did him dirty and in the end he saved people who shunned him and his tribe in times of need and people who he didn't even know. An amazing character 🧡

so i discovered an important bionicle lore tidbit, and once again, greg misusing words has resulted in something very funny:
Tumblr media
OnionShark asks: "Since Sahmad mistook Anonna for a male, is it safe to assume she has a masculine voice?" and greg answers: "She has an asexual voice"
so i guess:

A17, B18, C5, c19
A17 (Favourite movie): I’m gonna be real with you all here: I’m not a big fan of the movies, period. They’re just... not great, and I don’t like ‘em that much.
That said, Web of Shadows is going to win this one, almost solely on the grounds of Sidorak having a handful of lines that were delivered with just the right pompous goofiness that they still live in my brain, something the other movies don’t really have going for them.
B18 (Favourite comic): Now, see, in stark contrast, I am positively SPOILED FOR CHOICE on this one! The Bionicle comics WHIP ASS!
The true answer to this question is almost certainly (and surprising no one) “any of the comics released in 2001 or 2002.” “The Coming of the Toa” still pretty much can’t be beat for its characterization of Kopaka and Pohatu, and “Deep into Darkness” is also great... but oh boy, it just occurs to me now that 2002′s Bohrok Saga was both the first and last time in Bionicle’s history that essentially the entire narrative of the year was told through the comics, without needing a movie to finish the story or hiding an absolute buttload of pretty significant events in the novels!
Honourable mentions also must go to “The Exile’s Tale,” a one-shot from the Legends of Bara Magna graphic novel describing Malum’s exile from Vulcanus, which has the noteworthy distinction of containing Bionicle’s only overt literary reference to Paradise Lost.
C5 (Do you consider romance canon?): The problem with asking whether anything is "canon" in Bionicle is that the different people who were at various times given responsibility for the Bionicle story showed an egregious lack of concern for maintaining consistency with what had gone before. And that's putting it mildly.
So, it's pretty clear from the Flash games and animations that came out of Templar Studios that romance was a thing in the world of Bionicle, right? But then SOMEBODY – SOME GUY WHO SHALL REMAIN UNNAMED – on the Bionicle story team decided that no, that didn't make sense, and romance actually wasn't a thing that happens in Bionicle in the Matoran Universe! (Romance is 100% canonical between Spherus Magna denizens, Farshtey himself alluded to it explicitly in Sahmad's Tale, but obviously that's not what we're talking about here.)
And the general practice seems to be that we accept the later ruling re: the canonicity of various events and phenomena in Bionicle, which to be fair makes sense, so by that logic no, romance is not canon.
The better question, to my mind, is: shouldn't it be?
C19 (What should a BIONICLE stage musical look like?): why would you do this to me

I still stand by that Bionicle should’ve ended at Journey’s End, since even if it's rushed it's a nice bow on it all. The epilogue complicates things too much(and is greatly unfinished) so I feel it shouldn't have been made.
That being said,I finally am reading through Sahmads tale and I...really like it, It’s easily one of my favorite stories tbh. The atmosphere is so eerie and beautiful. Its a beautiful, messy tragedy and a prime example of how many different genres the series can have.
