The human body contains numerous free radicals, which are loose oxygen molecules. They cause significant damage to the cells and increase the risk of developing severe illnesses such as cancer. Dhanyaka contains numerous antioxidants that help the body combat and eliminate free radicals.
It prevents blood from clotting and reduces the risk of artery blockages. This is why the herb is essential in Ayurvedic medicine: to reduce the chance of heart problems and support heart function. The nutrients found in its seeds aid in maintaining clear blood vessels and preventing them from becoming hardened. Dhanyaka can assist in reducing high blood pressure by eliminating excess salt from the body. It contains essential minerals such as iron, folate, and potassium, as well as beneficial oils like geraniol, linalool, terpene, and camphene. These factors contribute to the herb's effectiveness in alleviating a variety of health issues, such as migraines, arthritis, discomfort, inflammation, anemia, and others.
Vital Phytoconstituent of Dhaynaka
Dhaynaka plants contain a high water content of 84%. Fruits contain oils, fats, and various other compounds. Coriander oil contains coriandrol, geraniol, and baborneol. Fresh leaves contain oil, criandrol, oxalic acid and calcium. Leaves contain high amounts of vitamin C and carotene. Seeds contain fatty oil and essential oil at a rate of 19-21 percent. Linalool, a terpene alcohol present in Dhanyaka, has various healing applications, such as safeguarding the brain, alleviating pain and inhibiting seizures.
Benefits of Dhanyaka
Some of the medicinal benefits of the Dhanyaka plant are discussed below.
Helps in digestion
Digestion is the bodily mechanism through which food is broken down into smaller parts, allowing for the absorption and utilization of nutrients. Dhanyaka is considered an effective treatment for stomach issues and pitta imbalances in Ayurvedic medicine. The plant has properties that can alleviate stomach discomfort and have a soothing effect. It assists in enhancing digestion while preventing acid reflux.
Dhanyaka helps improve digestion and prevents the formation of toxins or Ama caused by undigested food. It aids in the body's absorption and utilization of nutrients from food. It can also help in alleviating swelling, gas, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, bloating and other gastrointestinal issues.
Balances Doshas
When combined with other digestive herbs from Ayurveda, such as Indian Bael, Mochras, Saunth, Dhataki, etc. Dhanyaka is an ingredient in Bilwadi Churna, an Ayurvedic remedy that aims to restore balance to Vata, Pitta and Kapha in the body. As Ayurvedic doctors, we often recommend using herbal blends to maintain a healthy stomach and enhance digestion. However, make sure that you do not take any herbal medicines without proper guidance from a qualified Ayurvedic doctor.
Cleansing properties
The seeds of the Dhanyaka plant can enhance the urinary tract and prevent infections. Consuming Dhanyaka juice has benefits for both your internal and external health. It aids in the functioning of various organs within the body, purifies the blood, enhances the digestive process and reduces allergic reactions and irritations resulting from excess body heat. The leaves aid in the safe removal of harmful toxins such as lead, mercury, arsenic and other heavy metals from the body. When used topically, the juice improves skin health, eases allergies and irritations, reduces signs of aging, and gives skin a radiant glow.
Cleanses liver
Dhanyaka is a gentle spice that supports liver health and can stimulate appetite if liver function is compromised. When combined with certain herbs that are effective in promoting liver function, it also has the potential to aid in the elimination of kidney and gallstones.
Helps treat Rheumatoid Arthritis
According to AIIMS researchers, the herb is very successful in reducing Rheumatoid Arthritis. It aids the immune system, reduces inflammation in the joints, and hinders the production of chemicals that contribute to this issue. Another research study found that Dhanyaka decreased arthritis symptoms by supplying vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients. Unlike other medications for the condition, Dhanyaka does not cause any adverse side effects.
Antianxiety and anticonvulsant Properties
Dhanyaka plant has the potential to alleviate anxiety and decrease blood pressure. In 2019, research conducted by the University of California analyzed the impact of Dhanyaka on the brain. When the herb is ingested, it interacts with specific potassium channels in the brain to decrease excessive cell activity and excitement, resulting in a calming effect. It is effective in mitigating severe seizures in patients and serves as a beneficial treatment for preventing convulsions.
Reduces cholesterol and sugar levels
Dhanyaka seeds have a significant impact on diabetes and cholesterol. They help decrease inflammation and function as antioxidants, making them beneficial for individuals with diabetes. Dhanyaka can  also effectively reduce cholesterol levels.

ECS and How It Works On Your Gut with Vijaya
Vijaya has been used medicinally for centuries to help alleviate gastrointestinal issues, from abdominal pain and intestinal infections to inflammatory diseases and motility issues.
Numerous studies, research, and clinical trials conducted by medical experts and Ayurvedic doctors over the years have revealed the involvement of the ECS in Vijaya’s treatment mechanism. Let us explore the effects of the ECS on the gut and how it works with Vijaya to help improve gut health.
The Endocannabinoid System
The renowned cannabinoid scientist, Ethan Russo, MD, said “The brain and the gut speak the same language.”
The ECS or the endocannabinoid system plays a vital role in the body’s health. It controls a variety of the body’s digestive functions like food intake, hunger signaling, digestion, nutrient absorption, gut motility, metabolism, development of gut bacteria, etc.
If the ECS does not function properly, it can cause various digestive disorders like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs), obesity, indigestion, appetite loss, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, etc.
This system consists of endocannabinoids, the cannabinoid receptors that they bind to (CB1 and CB2), and the metabolic enzymes that break the endocannabinoids down after their work is done.
The CB1 receptors are particularly found in the cells of the stomach and colon, along with the intestinal lining cells. These receptors also contain nerve cells of the gut’s enteric nervous system (ENS), that control the gut’s activities and function.
On the other hand, the CB2 receptors are prominently found in the immune cells of the digestive tract. And the enzymes responsible for breaking down the ECS’s endocannabinoids are found along the entire tract.
How the ECS Affects the Gut
The endocannabinoid system acts on the gut in multiple ways:
Regulates Pain And Inflammation
The ECS has a direct influence on the pain and inflammation in the gut. It activates the CB1 receptors in CNS regions responsible for controlling pain. This way, it regulates the transmission of pain signals to the gut and reduces abdominal pain sensation.
These activated CB1 receptors in the brain further help alleviate conditions like stress, depression, anxiety, etc. They do so by reducing the production of the primary stress hormone cortisol.
Besides that, the ECS activates the CB2 receptors in the immune cells to prevent them from producing inflammatory proteins. This decreases the risk of intestinal damage and helps alleviate inflammation in the gut and prevents inflammatory conditions like IBDs and IBS.
Activated CB2 receptors in the gut help prevent digestive diseases, strengthen the intestinal barrier, and stabilize food movement through the gut.
Modulates Digestive Action
Gut motility refers to the contraction of the muscles in the digestive tract. This contracting movement allows food to easily pass through the track and ensures that the nutrients are properly absorbed. When the ECS’s CB1 receptors are stimulated, they reduce the production of the chemical messenger acetylcholine (ACH), which is responsible for muscle contractions.
Hence, the receptors help slow down the food’s movement in the tract to improve digestion and prevent conditions like diarrhea. This also calms conditions like nausea, abdominal pain, acidity, etc.
Controls Two-Way Communication Between The Gut And The Brain
The gut and the brain communicate with each other through a dynamic network using many nerve pathways. This communication refers to the gut-brain axis. Numerous nerves run from the brain to the gut and transmit messages between them.
This enables the ECS components in the brain to be in constant communication with those in the gut. As a result, they work together to regulate the gut balance and prevent gut health issues.
This is the reason why changes in mental health can disrupt digestive function and vice versa. For instance, as per a study, administering probiotics not only improves digestion but also increases the activity of the CB2 receptors and helps alleviate abdominal pain.
Increases Appetite
The ECS activates the CB1 receptors in the brain to increase the production of the hormones Ghrelin and Neuropeptide Y. these two hormones play a vital role in increasing appetite and hunger in people, as well as maintaining balance in the body (homeostasis).
This is especially beneficial for patients suffering from chronic conditions, as their treatment methods can cause reduced appetite and unwanted weight loss.
Stops Reflux
At the end of the food canal, there is a muscle called the esophageal sphincter. If it relaxes, it opens up enough to allow the acids to flow into the stomach, causing reflux. The activation of the gut’s CB1 receptors helps decrease sphincter relaxation and alleviate reflux.
It further helps reduce the production of excess acid in the stomach, thus, reducing conditions like heartburn, ulcers, gastritis, etc.
How Vijaya Stimulates the ECS to Improve Gut Health
As seen above, activated cannabinoid receptors of the ECS improve gut health in various ways. Usually, the ECS’s own endocannabinoids stimulate those receptors. But sometimes, the body is unable to produce the necessary endocannabinoids for alleviating digestive issues, causing endocannabinoid deficiency.
This can be either due to an underlying disease or a genetic disorder. Hence, Ayurvedic doctorsprescribe consuming Vijaya. This Ayurvedic medicine supplies the body with the required cannabinoids through its chemical compounds and directly helps improve ECS function.
It further influences gut health by binding to the CB1 and CB2 receptors there and helps the ECS act on the gut in the ways mentioned above.
In a recent study conducted on mice, it was seen that their gut bacteria affected their endocannabinoid signaling. This led to obesity, inflammation, and increased gut permeability (intestine walls becoming loose enough to allow harmful bacteria and toxins to enter the bloodstream).
Vijaya’s chemical compounds effectively prevented this condition by influencing the gut bacteria. They increased the production of the bacterial species associated with fat storage to help reduce obesity and aid weight loss. This Ayurvedic medicine also helped improve endocannabinoid signaling from the gut to the brain to improve overall gut health.
Vijaya for Gut Disorders
Its direct influence on the gut’s ECS makes Vijaya effective for alleviating various digestive health conditions. Ayurvedic doctors prescribe it in the form of herbal formulations like the bilwadi churna.
This effective Ayurvedic medicine helps relieve gastrointestinal conditions like
Irritable bowel syndromes (IBS)
Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs)
Diarrhea and constipation.
Gas, bloating, and abdominal pain. It is because bilwadi churna uses Vijaya as its key ingredient.
A study conducted in 2020 showed that because of Vijaya’s effective and quick action on the gut’s endocannabinoid system, the utilization of conventional treatment methods by IBS patients was reduced! Another 2021 study revealed that Vijaya showed significant improvements in nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and overall well-being among patients suffering from IBD.
There have been numerous such studies and trials conducted by medical experts worldwide. To know more about how Vijaya and the ECS work together on the gut, contact Hempstreet and get the best medical consultation for yourself!

Migraine Pain: What It Is And How Can Vijaya Help?
Tumblr media
A migraine is a form of headache that causes a severe pulsing sensation or throbbing pain in one or both sides of the head. It is often severe enough to disrupt the patients’ daily activities, overall physical and mental well-being, and quality of life.
Migraine affects over 12% of the world’s population on average. As per studies, it occurs mostly among people aged between 20 and 50 years and is thrice as common among women as men.
The commonly prescribed medications for migraine include conventional painkillers, antibiotics, and addictive opioids. They often trigger more severe headaches and cause various other side effects, like digestive disorders. Because of this, modern medical experts and Ayurvedic doctors prescribe consuming Vijaya and its derived Ayurvedic cannabis solutions.
Read ahead to find out what makes this herb so efficacious for migraine pain.
Migraine Symptoms
Migraine symptoms progress through various stages. But not every patient goes through all of them. They include
Prodrome (over 60% of migraine patients experience subtle warning changes a few hours or days before migraine)
Digestive issues like constipation, diarrhea, and bloating
Depression
Mood changes
Neck stiffness
Increased urination
Higher food cravings or appetite loss
Increased thirst
Fatigue
Frequent yawning
Aura (nervous system symptoms before or during migraine that can last from five to over 60 minutes)
Seeing bright spots, flashes of lights, or random shapes
Vision loss
Uncomfortable prickling sensation in any limb
Difficulty speaking
Ringing in the ears
Heaviness in the limbs
Changes in taste, smell, touch, etc.
Weakness, tingling, or numbness in one side of the body or face
Attack
Migraine pain attacks grow from dull to severe throbbing or pulsing pain on either or both sides of the head. The duration and frequency of these attacks vary among individuals. It can last from four to 72 hours. And it can occur either once or twice a year, a few times in a month, or once in a few days.
Besides the pain, over 80% of migraine patients often go through nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light, smell, and sound.
Post-drome
After the pain attack, patients often feel drained, confused, and severely exhausted for over a day. Some go through muscle pain and weakness, while others might feel unusually happy and refreshed.
What Causes Migraine Pain?
The exact cause of migraine pain is currently unknown to medical experts. A 2021 study showed that inflammation plays a vital role in the generation and development of this pain.
Besides that, environmental factors and genetics can cause changes in the brain. They disrupt its communication with the nerves, spine, and the major pain pathways in the body. They further cause an imbalance in the vital brain chemicals that regulate pain in the nervous system.
Numerous other factors can trigger migraine, including
Alcoholic and caffeinated drinks
Excess stress
Insufficient or excess sleep/ improper sleep habits
Intense physical activity
Sensations like strong smells, excessively bright and flashy lights, and loud sounds
Improper dietary habits like consuming excess salty and processed foods, artificial food additives, skipping meals, etc.
In many people, the side effects of certain conventional drugs like oral contraceptives can trigger migraine. Moreover, hormonal fluctuations in women (before or during periods, pregnancy, and menopause) can trigger this headache.
CED: A Major Cause of Migraine
The endocannabinoid system or the ECS is one of the most crucial biological systems in the body. It regulates various vital bodily functions, from immune response and neural function to mood, digestion, and metabolism.
The cannabinoids produced inside the body are called endocannabinoids. They are a major part of the ECS. Due to certain genetic disorders or underlying diseases, the body might not produce enough of these endocannabinoids. This causes the ECS to become unstable and leads to clinical endocannabinoid deficiency (CED).
CED plays a vital role in the development and worsening of migraine pain. Moreover, a study shows that the degradation of some endocannabinoids is a prominent driving factor in migraine pain.
Why Is Vijaya Effective For Migraine Pain?
The prime factor why Trailokya Vijaya Vati, the Hempstreet Vijaya formulation, effectively alleviates migraine pain is its quick and direct influence on the body’s ECS. The herb contains hundreds of chemical compounds called cannabinoids. When patients consume Vijaya, it provides the body with the necessary supply of cannabinoids and binds with the ECS’s cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2.
That restores ECS function and allows it to increase the levels of anandamide and other vital endocannabinoids. By activating the CB1 receptors, Trailokya Vijaya Vati influences the brain’s pain processing regions. That significantly decreases the pain, as well as alleviates conditions like stress. In addition, the herb helps restore the sleep cycle and increase sleep quality among migraine patients, thus, speeding their recovery.
Whereas, by activating the CB2 receptors, the herb acts on the immune system and decreases the production of inflammation-causing cytokine and chemokine immune cells. It helps decrease inflammation and, consequently, migraine.
Another major reason  Ayurvedic doctors prescribe Trailokya Vijaya Vati  for migraine is that it does not show any harmful side effects on health, unlike traditional drugs. On the contrary, it helps alleviate the side effects caused by previous consumption of such medications. This makes the herb a safer, more effective, and more reliable alternative to traditional migraine treatments.
What the Studies Say
There have been numerous studies that show the benefits and effectiveness of Ayurvedic cannabis solutions on migraine pain:
In a Canadian study, consuming Vijaya reduces migraines by 49.6% in over 88.6% of female patients and 87.3% of male patients. It also alleviated other forms of headaches by 47.3% in over 90.9% of males and 89.1% of female patients.
A study conducted in Israel in 2020 showed that consuming Ayurvedic cannabis solutionsignificantly reduced migraine symptoms, increased sleep quality, decreased the consumption and dependency on conventional medicines, and alleviated the side effects of those drugs.
Another recent study showed that Vijaya was significantly advantageous not only for migraine pain but also for associated nausea and vomiting.
A US study showed over 86% efficacy of Vijaya for migraine pain relief.
Many migraine patients were able to replace their traditional pain medications with Ayurvedic cannabis solutions.
Over 76.7% of patients in a study reported a gradual decrease in their consumption of opiates. In contrast, after Vijaya usage, over two-thirds of patients reduced their consumption of alcohol, anti-anxiety medications, antidepressants, and other migraine medicines.

Vijaya to Alleviate Different Types of Pain in Women
Tumblr media
Women have a busy schedule at all stages of life. But they suffer from most chronic pain conditions, and that too to a greater extent than men. Additionally, they suffer from female-specific pains, including period pain (dysmenorrhoea), pelvis pain, and pain associated with diseases like endometriosis.
This blog aims to help manage pain and optimize the quality of life for women suffering from chronic pain. Let us understand the mechanisms of pain generation and the interaction between hormones and pain.
Understanding Pain and its Types
Pain is an unpleasant feeling that restricts a person’s capabilities to work. It is indicative of something not right with the body. As pain originates in receptor-bearing cells, the nerve sends a message to our brain about pain in a particular part.
Pain may be acute, short-lived, or intense and chronic, persisting from a few days to years. For acute pain, like inflammation and discomfort, doctors typically prescribe opiates or narcotic drugs.
However, for chronic pain, opiates are not so effective. The side effects of opiates include nausea and sedation. Also, over the longer term, people with chronic pain develop tolerance to opiates and need to increase the dosage gradually.
Worldwide, patients are seeking better pain relievers. So let us explore to know if Vijaya can be the right drug to help improve the quality of life for the sufferers.
The Endocannabinoid System
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a critical biological system in our body that helps regulate and control important functions like emotions, memory, immunity, sleep, temperature, pain, hunger, and inflammatory responses.
The Endocannabinoid System consists of three parts-
Cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) – Cannabinoid receptors are a part of the endocannabinoid system located throughout the body. They are involved in various physiological processes, including appetite, pain sensation, and mood.
Endogenous cannabinoids – Also known as endocannabinoids, are similar to cannabinoids but produced by our body that engages with cannabinoid receptors.
Endocannabinoid enzymes – Many endocannabinoids metabolic enzymes facilitate the breakdown and use of cannabinoids.
CB1 receptors are found predominantly in the central nervous system (CNS), which includes the nerves of the spinal cord and brain. They play a role in sending the signal of pain to the brain via the spinal cord, impacting a person’s pain experience. Physiologically CB1 receptors can affect your memory, emotions, functioning, and reward. CB1 is the receptor predominantly responsible for the psychotropic effects of cannabis.
CB2 receptors are found in both immune cells, peripheral tissues, and the CNS but at much lower levels than CB1 receptors. They possess anti-inflammatory and analgesic or pain-relieving properties. Working via the body’s immune system, CB2 receptors activation reduces the release of proinflammatory cytokines and enhances the anti-inflammatory cytokines. These small proteins are involved in pain signaling.
How does Vijaya Work?
Vijaya seems to interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system and modulates the body’s desire to stay balanced and stable, known as homeostasis. It plays a key role in neuronal and immune cell function, which are crucial to pain perception.
Vijaya constitutes the plant’s naturally occurring cannabinoids that act directly on the CB1 and CB2 receptors. But it interacts with the body’s natural cannabinoid receptors reducing pain signaling and perception.
Receptors are like tiny proteins attached to your cells that receive signals and help them respond. This response creates anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects, hence helping manage pain.
Chronic pain stemming from systemic inflammation, such as back pain, rheumatoid arthritis, etc., may benefit from Vijaya’s anti-inflammatory properties.
Vijaya as
Trailokya Vijaya Vati
Hempstreet’s Ayurvedic formulation of Vijaya helps provide easy relief from neuropathic pain. It is also effective for chronic pains, joint pains, muscular spasms, and sciatica pain. As per Ayurveda, the medicine directly affects the motor neurons or ‘VaatVaahini Naadi’ and provides a quick relief or ‘Aashukari.’ Hence, it offers quick relief from various types of pain.
Vijaya vs. Opiates
Studies have shown that cannabinoids have high potential in pain management. Peripheral nerves in our body are responsible for detecting pain sensations and contain abundant receptors for cannabinoids. The cannabinoids block peripheral nerve pain, as experimented on animals. Even the side effects of Vijaya are limited to headache, nausea, and minor effects.
Whereas opiates and other conventional NSAIDs are addictive and can cause harmful effects on long-term usage. A Canada study found that Vijaya can even help reduce the dependency on prescription pain medicines and opioids in patients by up to 78%. Vijaya has been effective in reducing addiction and improving the overall quality of life of patients.
Conclusion
If your mother or any woman is living with a joint, migraine, back, or pain and is struggling with consecutive anxiety and insomnia, you should seek help and gather more information from our expert doctors. As Vijaya is getting more acceptance, it is also being used as a complementary treatment to other care regimens and therapies.

How Does Vijaya Help Stimulate Appetite?
Tumblr media
Appetite and hunger are often confused by people. Hunger is the biological response of the body telling you that it needs food when there isn’t enough for its proper function. Appetite, on the other hand, is the body’s desire to consume more food. The body might feel hungry but have no appetite for food, and vice versa.
Appetite is a very important biological mechanism that drives the body to consume food to meet its energy and nutritional needs. But people can lose appetite due to various reasons, which can cause severe symptoms like illness, extreme fatigue, weight loss, rapid heart rate, etc.
Let us look at the different factors that can affect appetite in people and how potent herbs like Vijaya can help stimulate it.
Factors Affecting Appetite
Many factors affect one’s appetite, such as
Smelling or seeing the foods one likes,
Dietary habits (people often feel a rise in appetite when they start a new diet),
Stress, and grief (some people tend to eat more to cope with such feelings, while others do the opposite),
Conditions like anxiety and depression too can increase or decrease a person’s appetite,
Binge eating disorder can cause people to eat excessively even when their bodies don’t need food, and
Pregnancy (the growing fetus demanding more nourishment can increase cravings among pregnant women).
Medical Conditions That Influence Appetite
Numerous medical factors can cause loss of appetite. It usually happens due to digestive issues like constipation, diarrhea, acid reflux, allergies, food poisoning, etc. Long-term medical conditions can decrease a person’s appetite, including
Irritable bowel syndrome,
Crohn’s disease,
Decreased immunity,
Diabetes,
Cancer, and
Thyroid.
These conditions can sometimes lead to a complete loss of appetite rather than a partial one. It can be either due to the condition itself or the side effects of the treatment procedures/medications. They include antidepressants, antibiotics, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, etc.
The Effects of Vijaya on Appetite: What the Studies Say
Vijaya is a very potent and important Ayurvedic herb. It has a very long history of being used by Ayurvedic doctors for numerous purposes, be it relieving pain or alleviating chronic illnesses. One of the major health benefits of this herb is its stimulation of appetite. It achieves this by directly acting upon the body’s ECS (the Endocannabinoid System).
As early as 300 BCE, people knew that this herb could boost appetite, especially increase their desire for savory and sweet foods. Over the years, medical experts and Ayurvedic doctors have conducted numerous studies and research to explore this herb’s action along with the ECS on one’s appetite. Here are some of them:
ECS regulates the motivation and liking for food.
A study conducted in the Netherlands revealed that the ECS plays an important role in regulating appetite and food intake. It stimulates the motivation to consume more food and the liking for certain foods. It achieves this by modifying the pleasant or unpleasant sensations in the brain one gets after eating specific foods.
Activated cannabinoid receptors influence digestive enzymes and metabolism.
Another US study found that activating the cannabinoid receptors in the brain stimulates food intake, influences eating behaviors, and controls nutrient metabolism.
The study further showed that the ECS even impacts the metabolic enzymes in the digestive muscles and organs. These enzymes are responsible for breaking down the food nutrients, digesting them, and maintaining digestive balance.
Vijaya intensifies food cravings and perceptions.
A UK study showed that Vijaya and its derived cannabis-based medicines intensify strong cravings for food and increase the sensory perceptions, such as the taste.
Vijaya influences the brain cells responsible for appetite.
The Washington State University researched to understand Vijaya’s appetite-stimulating action. The researchers monitored the behavior of rats on being exposed to Vijaya. They found that the herb stimulated hunger even when they had recently eaten.
Furthermore, the herb also modified the genetic activity and function of the brain cells that respond to the ghrelin hormone! It is the hormone that makes people feel hungry. That is why the herb effectively induces appetite among patients with chronic illnesses to speed up their recovery.
How exactly does Vijaya stimulate appetite?
The ECS, or the Endocannabinoid System, is a crucial biological system in the body. It controls many of the body’s key functions, like immunity, homeostasis, metabolism, digestion, mental health, etc.
One of its key actions is the regulation of appetite. The ECS’s cannabinoid receptors are present in numerous body tissues that trigger appetite. They help with proper food intake and enhance eating pleasure.
When people consume cannabis-based medicines, their chemical compounds, called cannabinoids, go into these tissues and activate the ECS’s cannabinoid receptors. These activated receptors then decrease the levels of appetite-suppressing PYY (peptide tyrosine) hormones.
When the stomach is empty, it releases a chemical substance called the ghrelin hormone, which notifies the brain to look for food and causes the sensation of hunger. Vijaya triggers ghrelin production to induce appetite. It also activates the ‘mTOR pathway’ in the body, a protein that regulates metabolism, liver function, and digestive balance.
Besides that, by activating the cannabinoid receptors in the brain, Vijaya helps boost the production of the feel-good hormone dopamine. This causes people to get more pleasure from eating and increase their cravings for food items.
Cannabis-based medicines activate the ECS’s cannabinoid receptors in the gut and calm the digestive tract. Vijaya further calms the nervous system and relieves conditions like nausea and vomiting. Because of this direct influence on the gut, Vijaya helps alleviate numerous digestive health conditions in people, like IBS, IBD, constipation, diarrhea, etc.
This is immensely helpful for people suffering from chronic health issues and undergoing complicated treatment procedures. Because when the patients are less nauseated, and their digestive systems are relaxed, they can eat more.

Vijaya and Inflammation: How does it work?
Tumblr media
Vijaya is a wonder drug that helps treat multiple ailments, inflammation being on the top of the list. Inflammation is the cause of many problems like back pain, arthritis, headaches, bowel disorders, Alzheimer’s, etc., and Vijaya aids by fighting these.
Research and analysis suggest that Vijaya positively alleviates inflammation and tames the symptom associated with inflammation.
What is Inflammation?
Inflammation is the body’s reaction to fight against things that harm it, like infections, illness, injuries, or toxins, striving to heal itself.
When our body comes in contact with any bacteria or virus, it shoots out the protective white blood cells to tussle with the infection. This action referred to as inflammation, also happens when we get injured, and the body tries to heal the wounded areas.
But there is something beyond this. Sometimes our body starts to attack its own immune system, causing inflammation in the form of pain, swelling, and joint stiffness. These are known as autoimmune diseases; some examples are inflammatory bowel disease (IBS), rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and fibromyalgia.
Patients who suffer from autoimmune disorders have no rescue from the body’s immune system and end up experiencing chronic pain, resulting in poor quality of life. Vijaya helps treat such symptoms so that the patient can get relief from pain and improve holistically.
What Causes Chronic Inflammation?
In chronic inflammation, the body continues to send inflammatory cells even when there is no outside danger. The leading causes are-
Weak immune defense of the body to resist infections like bacteria, protozoa, and fungi that resist the body’s immune defenses.
Recurring episodes of acute inflammation.
Exposure to chemicals and irritants, especially industrial chemicals like silica dust.
Autoimmune diseases where the body attacks itself.
Intense and acute inflammatory reaction that erupts in response to oxidative stress, cell dysfunction, or articular deposits of monosodium urate, like in gout.
Chronic inflammation leads to health issues and causes diseases such as
Arthritis,
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),
Autoimmune diseases,
Diabetes,
Heart disease,
Chronic pain, and
Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Vijaya can help reduce which type of inflammations?
Extracted from the Cannabis sativa plant, the chemical compounds found in Vijaya can help improve three types of inflammatory ailments
Inflammatory Bowel diseases (IBD) like Crohn’s and Ulcerative colitis.
Inflammatory skin diseases (ISD) like Atopic Dermatitis and Psoriasis.
Hempstreet’s Bilwadi Churna alleviates IBD. It helps destroy bacteria and viruses causing infection and benefits abdomen colic and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Endocannabinoid System (ECS) and its receptors
Endocannabinoid System (ECS) in the body is considered one of the “gate-keepers” of the immune system. That means in our body, two main receptors, cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid receptor type 2 (CB2), are assumed to regulate the immune system.
The activation of these cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2, are important for several physiological processes that regulate nervous, digestive, reproductive, immune, and metabolic functions. CB1 is present in the brain, and CB2 works in the cells of the immune system.
Vijaya contains two active cannabinoids, CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), that binds with the cannabinoid receptors of our body. This reaction effectively guards the body against inflammation. CB1 and CB2 receptors are also found in the digestive tract, which is why Vijaya is an effective relief for inflammatory bowel disease.
Vijaya contains another ingredient called beta-caryophyllene, which affects the CB2 receptor. As beta-caryophyllene doesn’t affect the CB1 receptors, it doesn’t produce the “high” as the other active substances do.
How can Vijaya help combat inflammation?
Cannabinoids in Vijaya act as potent anti-inflammatory agents through the following processes –
Induction of apoptosis (cell-death)
Cannabinoids or the active elements in Vijaya, trigger immunosuppression by inducing apoptosis, or the natural process of cell death. This process reduces the body’s natural producers of chronic inflammation and thus reduces inflammation.
Inhibition of cell proliferation
Studies show that the cannabis effectively contributes to antitumor responses, that is, reduction in cell growth and division, and reduction of tumor size.
Suppression of cytokine production
Vijaya reduces the immune signaling proteins created by cells called cytokines. With the disruption of cytokines, the reproduction of white blood cells (WBC) and the immune responses are slowed down. It reduces the inflammation responses in and around the cells.
Induction of T-regulatory cells (Tregs)
To restore healthy immune responses and tissue homeostasis in many biological processes, the generation of functional regulatory T cells (Tregs) is essential.  Cannabinoids have been researched as potential therapeutic tools for several diseases.
Conclusion
If you or a loved one is suffering from chronic inflammation, and you’re interested in exploring the benefits and usage of Vijaya, feel free to make an appointment with our specialist doctor at Hempstreet.

How Gut Affects Your Immunity
Tumblr media
Having good gut health plays a vital role in improving your immune system. An unhealthy gut can lead to improper immune function and hence potentially lead to autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. In contrast, an unhealthy immune system can severely affect the gut function and cause digestive disorders.
Let us look at how establishing good gut health can help your immunity and overall bodily health.
Understanding How Gut Functions
As per a study, the human bodies have more bacteria cells than human cells. A majority of those bacteria lie in the gut. These do not just stay on the intestinal lining and aid the digestive processes. They have a major interaction with the body’s immunity.
Many cells in the gut lining excrete large amounts of antibodies into the gut throughout their lives. These antibodies are chemical substances to help fight diseases.
The gut microbiome is the collection of all the microorganisms in the gut. It affects many of the body’s crucial functions, including cognition, digestion, appetite, mood, memory, weight, behavior, metabolism, etc. One of its most significant impacts is on the body’s immunity.
The immune system is responsible for protecting the body against harmful external invaders like fungi, germs, pathogens, and viruses. When it works properly, it effectively distinguishes the good microorganisms from the harmful external ones and fights them off.
But when the immunity is weak, it mistakes its own bodily cells as harmful attackers. It causes the immune system to mistakenly attack its own cells, causing autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), etc.
How Gut Bacteria Affect Your Immunity
A 2021 study revealed that the gut microbiome plays a crucial role in the growth, development, and function of the body’s immune cells. As a result, a healthy gut boosts the efficacy of vaccines given to people.
Most of the human body’s microorganisms lie in the gut. So do the immune cells as well. A 2021 study conducted in the Netherlands found out that over 70%-80% of the body’s immune cells lie in the gut! Thus, your gut and immunity are more closely linked than you thought.
The interaction between the gut and immunity begins at birth because the birth canal has large amounts of bacteria. The immune system helps from a majority of the diverse gut microbiome while the gut helps develop and strengthen the immunity.
The gut microbiome teaches the immune cells (called T-cells) to differentiate between your own cells and foreign bacteria. The gut then sends signals to control the immune responses and help develop a healthy immune system. In return, the immune system promotes the development of healthy microorganisms in the gut for effective digestive health and function.
Hence, when both are working in sync, your body can properly break down the food for its nutrition and fight off and prevent diseases for overall wellbeing.
Improper communication between gut bacteria and immune cells is the gateway to diseases. Factors like poor diet, antibiotic consumption, heavy metals, chemotherapy, surgeries, etc., can kill your gut bacteria and reduce your immunity.
The Dietary Effect
You might already know how your diet affects your weight and daily energy levels. But you are not likely to know your diet’s effect on your immunity.
A 2021 ZOE COVID Study found that people eating a gut-friendly (plant-rich) diet were 40% less likely to show severe COVID symptoms than those consuming an unhealthy diet. Because an unhealthy diet can increase the levels of unhealthy blood fat and blood sugar in the body and promote chronic inflammation and its associated diseases.
If the gut is healthy, the good gut bacteria will control your immune function. They will make sure that your immune system only responds when there is damage to the body and does not attack the healthy cells.
Establishing proper gut health is a sure way to keep the immune system running and vice versa. The foods that we eat affect the diversity and composition of these bacteria, in turn affecting the body’s immunity.
The common diet that we consume today is rich in animal proteins, sugars, saturated fats, processed ingredients, etc. Consuming them decreases the diversity in the gut bacteria and, therefore, causes harm to the immune cells, leading to chronic disorders and inflammatory diseases.
What to Eat For Better Gut and Immunity?
Ayurveda doctors and healthcare experts recommend consuming fiber-rich and plant-based foods to help diversify the gut bacteria and reduce inflammatory responses from the immune cells. Because fiber-rich foods are a good source of prebiotics, i.e., plant fibers that encourage the growth of good bacteria.
Asparagus, leeks, legumes (peas, lentils, chickpeas, and green beans), whole foods, leafy greens, and sprouted grains can significantly improve digestion and enable the gut to work effectively with the immune system.
Consuming probiotic-rich fermented foods regularly can diversify the gut microbiome and help regulate immune response and gut function effectively.
Foods like yogurt, kefir, tempeh, kimchi, Swiss cheeses, aged cheddar cheese, cottage cheese, etc., are rich in prebiotics.
Ayurveda doctors prescribe using natural spices and herbs during food preparation can also benefit your gut and immunity. Because they do not only add flavor to the diet, they also contain numerous chemical compounds that encourage gut bacteria diversity.
One of the most effective solutions prescribed by Ayurveda doctors for improving gut health is the Bilwadi Churna. It is an Ayurvedic formulation composed of certain herbal ingredients like Bilwa fruit, ginger, Vijaya, fennel seeds, etc. It can significantly improve your gut function and digestive health.
The Bilwa fruit helps relieve conditions like diarrhea, indigestion, and constipation. Ginger helps release intestinal gas, improves digestion, and relaxes the gut. Fennel seeds boost gut metabolism, while Vijaya helps improve appetite, increase good gut bacteria concentration, and alleviate numerous digestive disorders like Colitis, Bloating, IBD, and IBS.

Kameshwar Modaka An Aid in the Management of Fibromyalgia
Tumblr media
ABSTRACT
Fibromyalgia is characterised by widespread muscular pain, stiffness, and tenderness. The patient mostly does not have an idea causing them discomfort. To relieve their pain, they often try a variety of treatments. The ayurvedic treatment for fibromyalgia is quite specialised and scientific. In Ayurveda fibromyalgia is an imbalance of energy inside the body and psyche rather than a sickness.
The symptom of fibromyalgia is pain and the pain is mild to extreme. Women, in general, get more severe symptoms. The symptoms shown by women are feeling fatigue, lethargic than males. Period pain and IBS symptoms are also prevalent complaints. Ayurvedic therapy for fibromyalgia is based on which doshas are most impacted and is evaluated through signs and symptoms.
In nutshell, when the digestive fire or agni don´t work adequately, this impacts the functioning of normal physiological body processes. This results in the resemblance of the idiopathic condition called Fibromyalgia.
Case Description
A female in her late 30’s came with the complaint of chronic type of body pain spread all over her body without any underlying pathology. Other complaints she had were troubled premenstrual symptoms (PMS) such as disturbed sleep patterns, severe mood swings and lack of willpower to do any active cores be it household or at work. Her condition got worsened during the winter months primarily complaining of cold hands and feet. She also had complaints of low libido or no interest in performing any sexual act with her partner during cold months.
PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
Examination criteria to assess Fibromyalgia: Widespread musculoskeletal pain index (WPI >7) Stiffness and/or tenderness throughout the body Fatigue Mood disturbances (e.g. depression, anxiety and stress) Cognitive difficulties or Fibro-fog (e.g. trouble concentrating, forgetfulness, and disorganized thinking)
DISCUSSION
Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease that predominantly affects the musculoskeletal system, resulting in widespread pain, sleeplessness, tiredness, memory loss, and despair. It is induced by the brain and spinal cord amplification of pain impulses.
As modern medications have a limited role in the management of fibromyalgia, patients prefer to use alternative medicine as well as non-pharmacologic modalities. This provides long-term disease management, such as the Ayurvedic system of medicine in conjunction with exercise, behavioural, and educational interventions.
CONCLUSION
The major reasons for people suffering from fibromyalgia are the aggravation of Vata Dosha or the buildup of ama (toxins). Since the patients suffer symptoms such as weak digestion, constipation, as well as prolonged stress, the therapy of fibromyalgia is largely a Vata vyadhi condition, it focuses on both Vata Shamana (re-balancing) and Samshodhana (purification), as well as Ama control.
Kameshwar modaka is a time-tested herbal medication that improves human  performance, stamina, and endurance. It contains bhanga or cannabis, making it a popular remedy for re-energizing sexual life as well as working as an anti-ageing and aphrodisiac. Cannabis acts by enhancing the subjective experience of sexual experiences.
 OUTCOM
Patient-reported significant pain relief and stiffness in the first 15 days. After 15 days same medicinal treatment was prescribed along with Gokshuraand to stop Saptavishati guggul. Then Basti chikitsa was done for 14 days. It showed excellent results in his swelling and recurrence of pain.
DISCUSSION
The treatment was decided based on the predominance of vata. Vijaya has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties along with Deepan, pachan. The combination in Trailokya Vijaya Vati is vata-shamak, deepen paachan and potent analgesic so the drug is useful in painful etiologies. Rasnasaptak quath is neuroprotective properties and has an affinity towards muscular- skeleton system so it enhances vata shaman and relieving pain.
Maha Yograj Guggul is excellent vata shamak and Bruhan Kalpa and useful in musculoskeletal and joint pain. Gokshur helps to kledavahan (helps to reduce swelling). Basti is the best line of treatment for vata as it produces shodhana, shamanand brihan effects in the body.

Effectiveness of Bilwadi Churna for Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Tumblr media
Abstract
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is characterized by stomach pain or discomfort that persists for at least three months in the absence of a discernible medical cause. Identifying main stressors/triggers such as emotional, physiological, and psychological pain, including anxiety and depression, is also part of the IBS diagnosing process.
The condition was classified by Ayurveda as faeces transit with constipation or diarrhea, as well as the presence of undigested or digested food particles. This ailment also causes thirst, pedal oedema, stomach cramps, discomfort, fever, and vomiting. Grahani symptoms are comparable to those of IBS. As a result, the Grahani rog has been linked to IBS. The disease is linked with bad eating habits and a stressed life and the main functional component of Mahastrotas is grahani, also known as a pittadhara Kala.
Case description
The 36-year-old male patient had complaints of increased frequency of mucus coated stools along with diffuse pain in the abdomen for the last two years. The pain was relieved after defecation. However, he also had complaints of loss of appetite resulting in less satiety and weight loss.
In Ayurveda, the constant consumption of incompatible foods, poor appetite along with lack of exercise, and sleep lead to the weakening of the Pachak Pitta (digestive fire), resulting in gastrointestinal ailment. These issues also lead to rectal pain, irregular bowel movements, stomach cramps, weakness, weariness, weight loss, bloating, lack of appetite, abnormal bowel movement, blood in stool, diarrhea etc.
Diagnosis
The patient was diagnosed with  Irritable Bowel Syndrome/ Grahani
Physical Examination
The routine examination showed:
Dull pain abdomen persistent,
Pain-relieving after defecation, and
Progressive weight loss
Treatment Plan
To treat the ama or toxins and balancing the three doshas, namely Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, the following remedies were recommended:
A healthy bland diet to improve the digestive system. Meals included buttermilk, khichdi, soups, and other nutritious foods in your diet.
Followed the pharmaceutical procedure to the point:
Deepan and Pachan
Sangraahi
Anti-infective
Balya
Observation
The treatment plan focused on decreasing the pain, and frequency of the stools and stimulating the appetite for healthy weight gain.  Gradually after proper medications and certain lifestyle changes, all the subjective parameters which were expected were achieved.
The ingredients of Bilwadi churna aided as an adjuvant to cure the condition by treating the samprapti vighattan. Acharya Charak has also mentioned Bilwa as sangrahi, deepaniya and Vata-Kapha shamak plant. Moch rasa used here acts as Graahi, Balya and Rasayan. Shunthi, saunf, bhanga etc. acts as deepaniya and paachniye along with analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. So, the complete formulation i.e. Bilwadi churna to treat Grahani is very effective
Discussion
The condition was classified by Ayurveda as faeces transit with constipation or diarrhoea, as well as the presence of undigested or digested food particles. This ailment also causes thirst, pedal oedema, stomach cramps, discomfort, fever, and vomiting. Since Grahani is associated with IBS, Ayurveda is recommended as a safe treatment and scientists need to ensure effective therapeutic strategies to treat the issue.
(Grahani symptoms are comparable to those of IBS. As a result, the Grahani rog has been linked to IBS. The entire world is turning to Ayurveda for safe treatment methods. As a result, our scientists must devise the most effective therapy strategy.)
Conclusion
Bilwa’s Sangrahi virtue is very helpful in treating the increased frequency of defecation and the consistency of the stool. In Bilwadi churna, cannabis or Bhang boosts its potency and gives treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) as well as additional add-on characteristics such as Deepana, Pachan, Kaphahara, Vedanasthapak, and Rasayana.

How Does Bilwadi Churna Approach IBS And Its Symptoms?
Tumblr media
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a group of symptoms that cause damage to the gut. It is the most common gastrointestinal disorder, with over 15% of the people around the world suffering from it. IBS causes severe abdominal pain, discomfort, and bowel movement issues. Other common irritable bowel syndrome symptomsinclude:
Diarrhea and constipation
Excess bloating or gas
Food intolerance
Heartburn and indigestion
Anxiety and depression
Fatigue
While most medical professionals authorize harmful conventional medications to help alleviate this condition, Ayurvedic doctors prescribe a potent, safer, and more effective herbal formulation called Bilwadi Churna.
Read ahead to discover what makes this formulation effective against irritable bowel syndrome symptoms and how you can leverage its medical benefits to relieve yourself from the condition.
What Causes IBS?
The specific cause of IBS isn’t known yet. But the following factors play a role in the development and aggravation of this condition:
Strong and longer intestinal contractions lead to diarrhea, bloating, and gas
Weaker contractions lead to dry and hard stools and slow down food passage
Nervous system abnormalities cause weak coordination between the brain and the gut. The gut hence overreacts to normal digestive processes and causes abdominal pain and bowel issues.
Other possible causes of IBS include:
Overgrowth of intestinal bacteria
Bacterial or viral infection
Excess stress
Imbalances in the gut microbiome
Food insensitivities
Besides that, many traditional prescription medications cause adverse side effects on health that trigger irritable bowel syndrome symptoms.
Enter Bilwadi Churna
Bilwadi Churna is an effective Ayurvedic formulation used to alleviate abdominal disorders and their symptoms for a very long time. The churna is known for its quick and effective action and significant reduction of disturbance in the digestive system on consumption.
Consisting of natural ingredients, the Bilwadi Churna helps calm the gut down and reduce its hyperactivity. One of its main ingredients is Vijaya, a very important and effective Ayurvedic herb. Its other ingredients include:
Bel Giri (golden apple),
Mochras herb (silk cotton tree),
Dhai/dhataki flower (fire flame bush),
Sabj leaves (sweet basil),
Coriander/cilantro leaves,
Dried Ginger,
Mochras (Bombax Malabaricum),
Fennel seeds and Anise seeds.
All these ingredients help in relieving IBS, enhancing appetite, and regulating effective digestive function. Besides that, the churna provides the digestive tract with the necessary nutrition to help the body compensate for the minerals and vitamins it lost due to loose bowels. This helps the body recover from the symptoms caused by such bowel irregularities.
The Therapeutic Benefits
If consumed with proper Ayurvedic consultation in the right dosage, Bilwadi Churna has numerous health benefits for IBS patients as it:
Cools the stomach and intestinal lining
Removes harmful microorganisms from the gut.
Improves digestion by stimulating the digestive enzymes
Facilitates better nutrient absorption by the intestines
Alleviates conditions like diarrhea, constipation, and dysentery.
Relieves abdominal pain, gas, and bloating.
Reduces the recurrence of loose stools by absorbing excess intestinal liquid
Hence, Bilwadi Churna not only offers an effective approach to alleviating IBS but also a holistic one. But how exactly does this formulation work?
Exploring the Working of Bilwadi Churna
Every ingredient in the formulation plays a vital role in improving gut function and helping patients alleviate IBS and its symptoms. The Bel is rich in organic substances called Tannins that help relieve indigestion, constipation, dysentery, diarrhea, ulcers, etc.
Ginger helps in releasing intestinal gas, relaxing the gut, and improving digestion.
Fennel seeds reduce bloating and enhance gut metabolism, thus preventing the early elimination of undigested foods.
The ‘Mochras’ in it exhibits astringent properties, allowing it to contract intestinal tissues and prevent loose stools, similar to the Dhai flowers.
The coriander leaves and anise seeds work as robust anti-spasmodic ingredients by relaxing the contracted digestive muscles and relieving muscular spasms in the gut. The latter further contain anti-inflammatory chemical compounds like fenchone, anethole, and estragole, to reduce excess inflammation in the digestive system.
The Role of Vijaya
Vijaya, an important component of the churna, is known for its robust pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties. This is so because this herb contains active chemical compounds called cannabinoids. When consumed, they bind with the cannabinoid receptors of the body’s ECS (endocannabinoid system) and activate them.
The ECS is a vital biological system in the body that regulates crucial bodily functions, including pain, inflammation, immunity, metabolism, etc. It contains two main kinds of cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2.
The former is dominantly present in the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), while the latter is highly concentrated in the gut and the body’s immune cells. By activating the CB1 receptors in IBS patients, Vijaya stimulates the brain’s pain processing pathways, decreasing pain perception and signaling in the abdomen.
Such interaction with the brain enables it to reduce psychological conditions like excess stress, depression, and anxiety among the patients.
Through the CB1 receptors, the herb further influences the nervous system enhances the ECS’s working, and establishes better communication between the brain and the gut. Hence decreasing the neural abnormalities that trigger IBS.
When Vijaya activates the CB2 receptors in the immune cells, it reduces the production of pro-inflammatory cytokine cells, thus alleviating intestinal inflammation in IBS patients. The activation of these receptors in the gut allows it to regulate the gut microbiome and enhance the working of intestinal bacteria.
The herb thus reduces imbalance and overgrowth of gut bacteria and promotes the growth of healthy microorganisms needed for a healthy digestive system. In doing so, Vijaya significantly decreases the risk of bacterial and viral infections behind IBS.
Why Choose Bilwadi Churna?
The reason why Ayurvedic doctors worldwide are prescribing this formulation to IBS patients is not only its high efficacy in alleviating the condition but also its robust safety profile. Traditional IBS drugs like painkillers, anti-depressants, antibiotics, NSAIDs, etc., cause numerous adverse side effects like drowsiness, constipation, nausea, increased pain, etc.
Being a herbal formulation comprising of an ancient natural formula, Bilwadi Churna is safe for consumption and does not show any harmful side effects on consumption, To know more about how you can use Bilwadi Churna to relieve your IBS symptoms, contact Hempstreet and get the best Ayurvedic consultation for yourself.

Chronic Pain: Vijaya Helps Improve Pain, Function, and Quality Of Life
Tumblr media
Chronic pain is a serious health condition worldwide. It is a pain that can happen anywhere in the body, and that lasts for over three months. This condition interferes with people’s day-to-day activities and severely impacts their overall quality of life.
This pain commonly happens as a side-effect of a major illness such as cancer or arthritis. It can also happen due to a serious injury like a broken bone or mental factors such as excess stress, anxiety, or depression.
The common types of chronic pain today include arthritis, migraines, fibromyalgia, neuralgia, back pain, neck pain, etc. These further lead to numerous side effects such as depression, anxiety, fatigue, mood swings, and insomnia, which worsen the condition.
As per a survey, over 19% of the adult population in India suffers from some kind of chronic pain. And around the world, close to five billion people suffer from this condition.
There are numerous treatment methods and traditional prescription medications (like pain killers, NSAIDs, opioids, etc.) prescribed by doctors for such pain. But they only focus on the pain and not its causes and symptoms. Furthermore, they do not come without their share of side effects on health.
On the other hand, Vijaya’s cannabis-based medication approaches chronic pain holistically. Thus, besides alleviating the pain and its causes, it helps ease the symptoms and improve the quality of life among patients.
Let us see why this herb is so effective for chronic pain management.
Decoding the Operation
The reason why cannabis-based medication works so well in managing chronic pain is its direct influence on the body through its ECS. The ECS, or the Endocannabinoid system, is one of the most vital systems in the body and the principal pathway for Vijaya to show its robust pain-relieving properties.
The ECS plays a vital role in regulating the function of the nervous and immune systems in the body, both of which are integral in pain perception. Furthermore, this system contains cannabinoid receptors, which are of two primary types, CB1 and CB2. These receptors determine the action and effect of Vijaya in the body.
The CB1 receptors are mostly present in the nerves of the brain and the spinal cord, which constitute the central nervous system (CNS). These receptors control the transfer of pain signals to the brain and affect the body’s perception of the pain.
While the CB2 receptors contribute to chronic pain management because of their highly concentrated presence in the immune cells. They regulate the body’s immune response and inflammatory activity.
When people consume Vijaya, it affects the ECS by activating these receptors. By doing this, it is able to directly influence and control the body’s pain signaling and perception. The herb, hence, effectively causes a reduction in pain.
Why Is Vijaya The Best Pain Reliever Medicine Today?
Modern medicine considers Vijaya to be the best pain reliever medicine today. This is because it affects the ECS in a way no other medication does. The herb contains chemical compounds called cannabinoids, and there are hundreds of them in it.
Among them are two main cannabinoids, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). When they go into the system, they quickly attach themselves to the cannabinoid receptors spread all over the brain, spine, and immune cells.
Because of this, Vijaya enhances the working of the ECS and affects the parts of the nervous and immune systems responsible for pain perception. It is the reason behind this herb’s revered pain-relieving properties.
But its benefits do not end here. Since the cannabinoid receptors are spread across so many parts of the brain and spine, Vijaya has a wide range of health effects.
Vijaya For Improving Function
As per a study conducted in Canada, besides alleviating chronic pain, consuming Vijaya led to improvements in body function on various levels. The patients showed improvements in the functioning of their lungs, cognition, liver, blood, as well as the endocrine system.
Since Vijaya binds to the CB1 receptors in the CNS, it participates in regulating endocrine function. And it is these receptors in the brain that allow the herb to influence and improve cognition and mental functions.
Vijaya also positively influences the cardiovascular system, which helps decrease high blood pressure and improve heart health and function.
A UK study shows that Vijaya, with its anti-inflammatory properties, eases the lungs and increases lung capacity, hence facilitating its better function. Furthermore, these anti-inflammatory properties decreased the risk of liver diseases in alcoholic patients and improved liver function.
The ECS plays an integral role in the functioning of the hypothalamus. It is an important gland in the brain which regulates the balance between the CNS and the endocrine system. Hence, ECS is vital for regulating homeostasis in the body.
Vijaya’s cannabinoids enhance the ECS by activating its receptors. Hence it helps modulate homeostasis and enhance the body’s function.
Vijaya for Quality Of Life
Unlike conventional prescription drugs, Vijaya offers a holistic approach to chronic pain management. Besides easing the pain, it also helps alleviate the symptoms of the condition and improve the patients’ overall quality of life.
Vijaya’s direct influence on the brain improves the production of happy hormones such as dopamine, responsible for regulating mood and feelings of joy. It helps alleviate conditions like anxiety, depression, and stress.
The THC in Vijaya comes with mild psychoactive properties that produce a sedative effect within the body. As a result, it helps alleviate insomnia by inducing sleep in the patients and reducing the time taken by them to fall asleep.
In a study conducted in Philadelphia, USA, the results showed a significant improvement in the health-related quality of life among the patients using Vijaya for pain relief. Besides pain reduction, the patients also showed improvements in their anxiety levels.
Another US study showed that with the increasing use of Vijaya for pain, anxiety, depression, and other related conditions, the use of prescription drugs decreased among the patients. Over 46% of the patients reported using Vijaya as a substitute to prescription drugs, the most common being addictive opioids and antidepressants.
Because of this action, Vijaya prevents the patients from the addictive nature of traditional drugs and suffering their harmful side effects on health, which worsen the condition.
Other studies further demonstrate how using Vijaya for chronic pain improved sleep quality, social and family relations, and emotional functioning among the patients. And besides personal and social well-being, Vijaya helps improve people’s satisfaction with their treatment and better manage their symptoms.
To know more about how Vijaya can help you alleviate your chronic pain and improve your overall quality of life, contact Hempstreet Medicare and get the right medical consultation from the best Ayurvedic experts.

How to Treat Sciatica Pain with Vijaya?
Tumblr media
The Sciatic nerve is the single largest and longest nerve in the body that originates from the lower back through the hips and goes down each leg. And Sciatica pain refers to the pain along the path of this nerve.
Usually, this pain affects only one side of the body and can range from a mild ache to severe pain or a sharp burning sensation.
The traditional Sciatica medication such as over-the-counter painkillers, opioids, and NSAIDs come with many harmful side effects such as:
Fatigue
Dizziness
Thinning and weakening of bone
Decreased blood pressure
Constipation
Nausea, etc.
They thus worsen the condition instead of aiding its treatment. Hence, Ayurveda doctors have started resorting to Vijaya to treat Sciatica as it is the best pain reliever medicine and is known for its strong pain-relieving (analgesic) properties.
Read ahead to know how you can use this valuable herb to aid in treating your Sciatica pain.
What Causes Sciatica?
Sciatica pain happens when the sciatic nerve gets compressed, pinched, or inflamed. It usually happens when a disk in the spine bulges out abnormally (hernia) or in case of a bone overgrowth in the spine. While they are the most common causes, some other causes include:
Obesity: Excess body weight can increase the stress on the spine. This leads to spinal changes that can trigger Sciatica.
Continued sitting: sitting for excessively long periods, doing less exercise, and being physically inactive increases the risk of Sciatica.
A demanding job: Jobs involving intense physical activity, driving a vehicle for long periods, or carrying heavy loads can contribute to the risk of Sciatica.
Diabetes: High blood sugar interferes with the working of the nerves and damages them. Hence people with diabetes are more likely to develop Sciatica than others
Symptoms of Sciatica
Sciatica symptoms include:
Moderate to severe pain in the lower back, going down the leg
Weakness or numbness in the lower back, legs, or feet
Increasing pain with movement
Loss of movement
How Does Vijaya Help Relieve Sciatica Pain?
Ayurveda doctors refer Vijaya as the best pain reliever medicine in modern medication because of the way it works together with the ECS to help manage Sciatica pain in the body.
A study by the American Academy of Neurology mentions: When people consume Vijaya, its THC affects the brain areas that process pain and reduces the connections between them. Furthermore, it destroys the pain signals that those areas produce, which leads to a significant decrease in pain.
The ECS or the Endocannabinoid System is one of the many important systems in the body. It is responsible for regulating various crucial bodily functions. Besides that, ECS also plays a major role in regulating pain.
The nervous and immune systems play key roles in neuropathic pain, and the ECS strongly influences them. When the hyperactive nerve messengers rapidly-produce pain signals in people with Sciatica, the ECS helps cool them down and return to normal function.
And consuming Vijaya enhances the working of the ECS. This is because the herb contains chemical compounds called CBD (Cannabidiol) and THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol).
Together, these compounds activate the ECS and decrease the excess activity in the immune and nerve cells. As a result, Vijaya alleviates sciatic pain and its symptoms.
Moreover, the ECS contains something called Cannabinoid receptors. They are of two types, CB1 and CB2. Most of the CB1 receptors are highly present in the nerve cells of the brain and the spine.
When Sciatica patients consume Vijaya, it activates these receptors and binds with them. Because of this, it affects the activity of the brain and the sciatic nerve and alters their pain signalling to help further reduce the pain.
In addition to that, Vijaya does all of this without showing any major harmful side effects, unlike the common prescription drugs. This is the reason why many researchers, Ayurveda doctors, and patients consider Vijaya to be one of the best pain reliever medicines today.
Side effects
If Vijaya is consumed incorrectly or without the best medical consultation, then it shows a few minor side-effects such as:
Fatigue
Dry mouth
Appetite changes
Drowsiness, etc.
Though they are not major, it is always recommended to get the best medical consultation possible to know Vijaya’s correct use and dosage and help alleviate and prevent such side effects. To do so, contact Hempstreet and find out how you can leverage Vijaya’s vast medical benefits to help relieve your Sciatica pain.

What is Hand Arthritis and How to Get Relief
Tumblr media
Arthritis is a condition that affects the tissues present in various joints of the body. In many cases, arthritis attacks the lining of joints or the cartilage present in joints. Cartilage is a connective tissue that is present at joints, where two bones meet. In individuals with arthritis, the cartilage starts breaking down, exposing the ends of the bones meeting at the joint. As a result, the bones start to rub against each other and wear away.
The hand contains several joints, such as the wrist, the knuckles, the base of the thumb, and the second and top joints of the fingers. All of these are common sites for arthritis. Hand arthritis can result in pain, stiffness, and deformity of the hands. Progression of the condition can make even everyday tasks difficult.
Types of arthritis that affect the hands
Several types of arthritis can affect the hands, but the three most common ones are
Osteoarthritis: It is also called degenerative arthritis and causes breakdown and wearing of the cartilage. Osteoarthritis commonly affects the wrist, the joint at the base of the thumb, and the middle and top finger joints. Long-term exposure to osteoarthritis can cause bony lumps to form in finger joints.
Rheumatoid arthritis: It is a chronic, inflammatory, auto-immune disease that causes swelling of the synovium. The synovium produces the fluid that constitutes the lining of the joints. It works as a lubricant allowing cartilage to easily slide against each other. The inflammation damages the cartilage, and then the bone starts eroding itself. As a result, joints can lose their alignment and shape.
Rheumatoid arthritis commonly affects the small joints present in the wrists, hands, and fingers and is usually symmetric, i.e.; it affects the same joints on either side of the body.
Psoriatic arthritis: It is a kind of arthritis that affects both the skin and the joints. It generally results in swollen fingers, joint pain, and morning stiffness.
Symptoms of hand arthritis
Some early symptoms are:
Dull or burning joint pain,
Morning pain or stiffness in the hand(s), and
Swollen joints in the hand(s).
Later symptoms can include:
Recurring symptoms of pain, stiffness, and swollen joints
Pain may change from dull to sharp
Inability to fully open and close fingers.
The pain may affect how you use your hand(s).
Tissue surrounding affected joints becomes red and tender to touch.
Bony nodules form on the top or middle joints of the fingers.
Finger joints become large and deformed or abnormally bent.
Grating, grinding or clicking when bending your fingers.
Home remedies for hand arthritis
Some home remedies recommended for treating hand arthritis include:
Hand exercises as recommended by a doctor can help retain flexibility in the ligaments and tendons of the hands and also reduce pain.
According to the Arthritis Foundation, applying hot and cold packs can also help relieve pain.
Capsaicin is made from a compound of cayenne pepper to deal with pain.
Ayurvedic doctors may prescribe Vijaya or medical cannabis in the form of a herbal compound called Bilwadi churna. Bilwadi churna contains other ingredients like Bel, Mochras, Dhar, and Saunf and is a prominent ingredient in this Ayurvedic cannabis solution.
Leveraging Vijaya for hand arthritis
Vijaya or Medical Cannabis has been used as a form of pain relief in Ayurvedic medicine dating back to ancient times. Vijaya is made up of various cannabinoids, one of which is called CBD. Various studies have shown how CBD works as an effective pain reliever to alleviate symptoms of arthritis and joint pain.
A medical study published by the Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research concluded that 36% of respondents who used CBD to treat symptomatic pain found it effective. It was found that CBD interacts with the ECS by inhibiting the sensation of pain. The ECS regulates various processes, including sleep, pain control, mood, appetite, memory, and emotional and immune responses.
Research suggests that CBD affects the activity in the endocannabinoid receptors and hence, reduces inflammation. Since CBD has a similar chemical composition (provided that the level of THC along with it is less than 0.3%) to the endocannabinoids present in the body, it can interact with the ECS receptors to affect the release of neurotransmitters to the brain. In addition to pain relief,
Vijaya can also help tackle other neurological symptoms that patients who have arthritis also have to deal with, such as anxiety and insomnia. Studies have found that CBD can help reduce anxiety and improve sleep quality.
Hempstreet offers Ayurvedic medicine in the form of Trailokya Vijaya Vati, which contains Vijaya as the key ingredient. Trailokya Vijaya Vati has a wide range of benefits, including curbed insomnia and anxiety, along with pain relief. It is, however, advisable to consult an Ayurvedic doctor and take recommended dosages to combat symptoms of arthritis.
