Okay so I was thinking about a Stranger Things S2 rewrite that ends with Billy learning about the Upside Down and I was thinking about the idea that after that he would have to be Max’s chauffeur for shit. And all of that was pretty standard but then I was thinking - 

With so many kids what if Billy also ended up with other kids in the car? and then I was thinking about who I would want to be part of Billy crew and I figured that it would be awesome if it was the girls and Will. 

Eleven and Max like being around each other, like the camaraderie of being the two girls surrounded by boys. And as much as they like Mike and Lucas, sometimes boys are dumb and rowdy and they’d rather just leave them alone with Dustin and Steve. 

Max and Billy bond over ear piercing and necklaces, over painted nails and long hair, over the fact that Max can be a badass and a girl, over the fact that Billy’s not any less of a danger or less of a man for liking to look nice. 

Eleven and Billy bond over stolen childhoods, over Billy’s bruises and Eleven’s experimentation and both of their blood, over the mothers torn from them by father’s they hate, over love and how Billy looks at Steve with fire licking in his gut and absolutely no clue what he’s doing and how Hopper is so gentle with Eleven but Eleven fumbles with how to be a daughter. 

Then Will starts seeing something in Billy that he feels in himself and grows more comfortable with him and he doesn’t like all of the things the girls want to talk about - the magazine they want to read - but it’s more comfortable to be with them than to pretend he understands when the other boys are talking about girls. 

At first Billy doesn’t really understand, but the longer he’s around the kid the more he starts to get it. He hears the way that Will sings quietly while the girls are belting, like he’s afraid that someone will hear how much he doesn’t mind singing a love song with male pronouns. He sees the way that Will fidgets when he’s with Mike, or the way he watches just a bit too intensely when Billy and Steve are next to each other. He sees the way that Will bites his lip when the girls are gossiping about boys, like there’s something in his chest that’s bubbling and he can’t quite get the words out. 

At first, Billy is terrified that he’s so obvious that this little kid noticed. 

Gradually, he figures out that Will didn’t notice because he was obvious but because Will knew what to look for. It’s the same way Billy figured Will out. 

And slowly, Billy finds himself opening up to Will and drawing him out of his shell as past he can, teaching Will that he doesn’t have to hide the way that Billy always has and that if anyone hurts him the way Billy was hurt than he’ll rip their intestines out for him. 

And Steve’s kids aren’t exactly getting pushed around, but Billy makes sure his kids are badasses. He makes sure they all know how to throw a punch, just incase someone gets too close to them. He makes sure Max knows that hitting him in the nuts was great, but if it’s ever anyone else she better fucking bust a kneecap and he makes sure that Eleven knows that if she uses her powers on someone hurting her its fine because he’ll make sure that person doesn’t fucking remember it and he teaches Will that when someone opens their mouth he should put his fist in it - or better yet, headbutt them so they bite their tongue. 

Steve’s kids are scouts, charging head first and learning about everything they can and knowing that Steve will be right behind them to drag them out if they get caught.

Billy’s kids are learn to be the power behind them, to protect their friends with their hands and to bare their teeth and they know that if their ever in over their head than Billy will be there to rip off any hand that tries to touch them.
