One day, in gray windy November there's a visitor at the old Hawkins graveyard. An old man, with white hair and a small shrunken figure – somehow you understand that he didn't use to be like that when he was younger. He used to .. well, rise tall. Have strong beliefs and ardently stand by them.
The old man is visiting an abandoned grave. No-one has tended to it, for years, many many years.
William Hargrove
29.03.1978 – 04.07.1985
There are patches of mellow grass, getting ready to be buried under the cold white blanket, a couple of withered small wildflowers.
The gray granite has cracked in some places and the brown-greenish moss has grown over it.
We do not know what is going on in that old lonely man's heart, what he's doing here and if he, in fact, has a heart.
He does, of course, like all of us.
There is immeasurable grief in his hollow eyes – the kind that is hard to admit and accept, and live with,
Yet it's there.
And it's been haunting and torturing, quietly, silently, slowly,
With leaden steps, gnawing at the insides, never letting to breathe freely, without a constant hint of remorse.
For many, many years.
*** Or
Neil Hargrove comes back to Hawkins to visit his only child's grave.
In another scenario, he comes to the cemetery but can't find the grave. He doesn't know it – his son is alive, and the gravestone was taken down cause it made no sense. Billy has a picture in his album – he's standing next to the ashen block of granite, smoking a Marlboro, with a wicked grin.
However, Neil knows nothing. The haunting intensifies – he's lost his son, but now there's also no place to mourn him? What the hell happened?

Lend A Hand
Billy Hargrove x Reader
Summary: Struggling to survive in the upside down, a familiar face lends a hand
Warning: Violence, language
———————————————————————
The blood red sky loomed above as you walked down the path, stepping over fallen branches and debris “Steve?” You called out searching for the man you had just been with but when you turned he was gone “Eddie?” no sign of either of them.
Shit
You had continued walking in search of either boys, the fear had slowly bubbled inside when the trees above swayed and bustled, a high pitch screech sounded out through the sky, peering up you caught the sight of the Demobats who had began to circle. Not one but several bats had set their sights on you as you broke out into a full on sprint, the branches crunched beneath your feet, wind blowing through your hair as the bats screamed above you. Branches were dodged left and right, logs jumped over and holes in the ground nearly missed. You had to run and you knew it, no way were you going to allow yourself to die here alone, so you ran until your lungs screamed and limbs ached but the bats didn’t give up as they swooped down around you.
Finally a bat had caught you by the shoulder hoisting you for a second before dropping you back to the forest floor, it swooped back down for the kill but you kicked and fought, grabbing a rock you swung hitting it, throwing the rock down you tried to get back up but more had come. Their tails wrapping themselves along your arms and legs, you struggled against them legs kicking as you screamed, a long tail had found itself around you neck. Your screaming ceased as you choked and heaved, still pushing your arms and legs you tried but the world was darkening and In those moments you thought of your parents, your friends and your siblings. You thought of Billy. Since his death you’d always tried to imagine his fear but you’d never really gotten it until the moment when the bats were choking you and ripping into your flesh.
Suddenly the tail around your throat had loosened, dry dusty air filled your lungs. You searched to the side but were caught off guard when the blade of a machete came close to your left hand, the tail of the bat sputtered black ooze as it unwrapped itself from you arm. It screamed out but was cut off by a large black boot stomping on it. You looked up seeing a familiar face covered in blood, sweat and dirt “Billy?” You we’re sure you were dead, this was heaven, you were imagining your dead boyfriend as your savior. Those bats had won you knew that with a 100% certainty but the only thing was he looked different from the last time, his beard was thicker, hair was longer and his build was thicker, more muscular. He swung the machete and had taken down the last three that had wrapped around your other limbs before he squatted down “y/n hey can you sit up for me baby?” You just lay there, eyes glossed over staring at the man, delicate but calloused fingers came up to touch your neck, a stinging sensation running through your body causing you to lurch back with a hiss “oh hun. We gotta get you cleaned up. Take my hand y/n” a large dirty hand poked out as he stood, you took it carefully. Pain was all you could feel as you stood, it seethed through the open wounds on your chest, through your wrists and ankles and especially throughout your neck. Billy could sense this, he stepped forward scooping you up bridal style “I’ll take care of you”
He walked for a bit, your head placed on his chest lazily, lulling to the side with each step. Soon you both had stopped in-front of a rundown log cabin, he kicked the door open, walking towards a makeshift cot he placed you down. “Bill?” He sat next to you on the bed “I’m here. It’s okay” his hand rubbed circles on your knee while you cuddled into his side “you’re dead?” He bit his lip, eyebrows furrowed “I know. I’ll explain once you’re in better shape” he stood but you grabbed his wrist loosely “don’t go” you watched his expression for a moment but he let go leaving the room for a second but came back quickly with a little red first aid bag “you need to get these cleaned up hun”
Billy skillfully unwrapped gauze and antibacterial wipes before carefully wiping off the open wounds “remember when we learned first aid before the pool opened for the summer? You couldn’t do CPR for shit. Always to aggressive” he chuckled at this “yea and you’re gauze was always to loose, you would have let the patient bleed out in a matter of seconds” you smiled recalling the memory, that hot May morning when you all sat outside the life guard shed dressed in bright red swimsuits, Billy and you were to caught up in talking to listen to the lesson, the both of you just barely becoming life guards. He tightly wrapped the gauze around your center, sealing off the open gash in your abdomen “All done” he gave his work a seal of approval “good job Bill. 10/10 nursing skills” you coughed out, head resting back on the pillow gaining a sympathetic look from him.
He stood taking the kit back to wherever it was before, your body shifted to got comfortable, he reentered the room and sat against the edge of the bed, a calloused hand reach out to you own which you great fully took “y/n what are you doing here?” He sighed, your eyes closed as you remembered before “we found this door thing. It was in lovers lake. So a few of us came to check it out and Steve got us dragged in” “and where’s Steve?” “I don’t know.” You admitted, eyes brimming a bit as you feared for your friends, did they think you were dead? We’re they dead? “Why are you here?” You countered but he simply shrugged “I’m not sure.” you picked at his hand thinking for a moment “we thought you died. There’s a” you took a breath “a headstone for you. A grave and they did this memorial thing.” You couldn’t help the tears spilling. You could still vividly remember that moment back in Hawkins, in Starcourt, you could remember everything, the scream that left your throat raw for weeks. They way your body shook from the violent sobs and his blood on your hands. You still have the sweater you wore that night, stained with his blood, the sleeves a deep maroon now, you could feel the way your heart ripped in half that night. “You died Billy. I was there I watched it, I saw it all” he held onto you, lowering his body into a laying position “y/n if i had an answer for why I’m here right now I would give it to you. I would explain it over and over again if I had to. I don’t know why I’m here and I want you to know I’ve been searching for a way out. Back to you and max since the day I showed up here” your body was shaking now with sobs, fists clamped in his jacket lapels. You wanted to be angry with him, angry for begin a hero, angry for him leaving you and angry for him being taken away but you couldn’t. Billy held you until the tears dwindled and your eyes grew heavy, he held you as tight as he could for he feared you’d disappear if he’d let go and you held him the same. You both lay there through the night just wrapped in each other’s arms savoring the moment you both wished for for so long.
He was back. And he was here to stay.

Marvel’s WandaVision Episode 5: MCU Easter Eggs and Reference Guide
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This article contains WandaVision spoilers through episode 5, possibly beyond, and for the wider MCU.
WandaVision episode 5, “On a Very Special Episode…” took everything we liked about the first two episodes and shook them up. For the first time, we have a fully blended approach to the storytelling, with the episode alternating between the altered “sitcom” reality of Westview, NJ and the actual, current MCU events. And then there’s that multiverse-shattering ending to contend with.
There’s a lot to break down with this week’s WandaVision, so we’d better get to it…
Sitcom Influences
WandaVision took us to the ‘80s this week, with a little Growing Pains, some Family Ties, and maybe a hint of Full House thrown in for good measure. The living room set itself looks very much like the standard seen on shows of the era, specifically Family Ties and Growing Pains.
Family Ties
The aging up of Billy and Tommy is much like Andy Keaton from Family Ties. In season 4, Andy was born and spent the whole season as a baby. As of the beginning of season 5, Andy was suddenly about 5 years old with zero explanation.
Also from Family Ties is the beginning of the opening credits, where it would show someone painting a colorless sketch of the family.
Bettany’s Michael Gross impression was extremely disturbing in how good it was a couple of times.
Growing Pains
Wanda and Vision getting vaguely horny for each other while doing regular domestic stuff is reminiscent of the way the parents would occasionally get it on on Growing Pains and Family Ties.
The sitcom theme lyrics and feel are extremely Growing Pains. And yes, as you might expect, they are very appropriate for these characters.
Here are the full lyrics for you (courtesy of the Disney+ closed caption feature):
“You wander the world with a vision…Of what life could be But then the years come and teach you…To just wait and see Forces may try to pull us apart…But nothing can phase me If you’re in my heart Crossing our fingers Singing a song We’re making it up as we go along Through the highs and lows We’ll be right, we’ll be wrong We’re making it up as we go along And there will be days…We won’t know which way to go But we’ll take it higher…You’re all I desire When the going gets tough…When push comes to shove We’re making it up Cuz we got love we got love we got love We got WandaVision”
Darcy also refers to Vision “playing Father Knows Best,” a callback to the sitcom style of the first episode.
We wrote in more detail about the sitcom influences of WandaVision episode 5 here.
Scarlet Witch
For the first time, we get the names of Wanda’s parents: Irina and Oleg Maximoff, but in the comics they were known as Django and Marya.
Wanda was born in 1989, the same year as Elizabeth Olsen.
We learn here that the “Scarlet Witch” codename has never been used in the MCU
Darcy refers to the anomaly as “the hex” after the hexagonal patterns that were noted in the previous episode. In the comics, Wanda’s powers are often referred to as “hex bolts.” She could also produce “hex spheres” and the town seems to be enveloped in a large one here.
Wanda’s accent, missing since Avengers: Age of Ultron, makes its triumphant return here.
Wanda talking to the kids about how “my brother is far away from here” is technically true: his corpse is…nowhere nearby. Although given how the episode ends, she could very well have been referring to another corner of the multiverse. We’ll get to that soon enough.
SWORD seems to refer to what’s going on as “The Maximoff Anomaly.”
Vision
We now know that Vision’s corpse is physically present in Westview and he isn’t just a manifestation of Wanda’s powers, nor was the horrific image of him glimpsed at the end of episode 3 a hallucination: it was Wanda seeing him as he really is.
Vision is working on a Commodore 64 at Computational Services. This early personal computer was a terrific gaming machine, with graphics and sound that were far better than early home gaming consoles of the era.
Vision apparently had a “living will” about what he didn’t want done with his body in the event of his untimely demise. Think of it like the MCU equivalent of a DNR. No, not a “do not reveal.” The other thing.
House of M
Before Agnes shows up the second time around, Vision is reading a newspaper with the headline, “LOCAL HOMEMAKERS INNOVATING RECIPES.” Moments later, he folds the newspaper in a way so that it only says “HOM.” HOM is short for the big Scarlet Witch comic event House of M.
The Twins
While it’s used as a setup for the twins inexplicably growing up, Wanda and Vision are horrified to find that the babies have simply vanished. In the comics, the first time we really get an idea that something is wrong with the children (as well as Wanda’s mental wellbeing) is when they show us that Billy and Tommy would cease to exist when Wanda wasn’t around.
This episode is the first to really feel like it’s borrowing a lot from Wanda’s most important story: the Dark Scarlet Witch story from Avengers West Coast. In that book, the first clue that something was wrong with Wanda was how the twins would disappear when she wasn’t looking a them. This would often happen when Agatha Harkness (presumably Agnes here) was babysitting for them. And later, Wanda’s personality started to shift towards full villainy and she was very cavalier about the use of her powers, something we start to see in this episode.
For most of the episode, the twins are dressed in red and green. This more than a nod to their parents’ favored color schemes, but it appears to mirror the colors they adopt when they grow up to be superheroes themselves. William becomes the hex-wielding Wiccan, who favors red, while Tommy favors green (like his Uncle Pietro) as Speed.
Sparky
Poor Sparky. Good boy.
The name “Sparky” is a reference to Tom King and Gabriel Hernandez Walta’s brilliant Vision story, in which Vision and his “family” (not the Maximoffs) move to the suburbs and try to live a “normal” life. Part of that includes a synthezoid canine named “Sparky.” He didn’t meet a good end there, either. Stop letting dogs die in our stories, you monsters! It’s too sad.
Lagos
This week’s commercial is for Lagos Brand Paper Towels, with the catchy slogan of:  “For when you make a mess you didn’t mean to.”
This references the opening scenes of Captain America: Civil War, when Wanda used her powers to stop Crossbones from detonating a bomb in a crowded marketplace. While she reduced the number of casualties overall, a number of innocent civilians still died when he exploded. It’s the first indication that Wanda’s grief and trauma in Westview are driven by far more than just the loss of her lover.
The Lagos ad is also another reference to the Infinity Stones. Previously, we’ve had the toaster (Power), the watch (Time) and the Tesseract-shaped bath powder (Space). Here, we have a red liquid spill in a sly nod to the Aether (Reality). Only the Mind and Soul stones to go – which means two more commercials.
X-Men
These are definitely not the only X-Men references in the episode (of course), but we’ll get to that big one down below…
The scene of Wanda confronting SWORD agents looks to be directly inspired by the scene in the first X-Men movie where the police try to take down Magneto. Much like Wanda, he uses his powers on their guns, causing them to be aimed at the cops themselves before escaping. Considering the payoff to this episode and Magneto’s role as Wanda and Pietro’s sometimes-father in the comics (not to mention Pietro’s definite father in the X-Men movies), this was more than likely set up.
Vision says he was reading Charles Darwin’s “The Descent of Man” to one of the twins, a book that deals with evolution. (David Bowie voice) “Gotta make way for the homo superior!”
The Twilight Zone
Serious Twilight Zone “It’s a Good Life” vibes in the episode throughout, particularly when Agnes is visibly weirded out by Wanda with her “take it from the top” moment (unless she’s deliberately screwing with everyone), and the mailman telling the twins “your mom won’t let [Sparky] get far.”
Also, while we’re on the subject of The Twilight Zone, Agnes appears to live at the corner of Maple St. and Sherwood Drive. “The Monsters are due on Maple Street” is a notoriously paranoid unpacking of suburban paranoia.
Westview
The opening credits feature a “Greetings From Westview, NJ” postcard in a pretty common format, but one made most famous on the cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Greetings From Asbury Park” album.
We wrote more about Westview in general here.
“For the Children
Vision points out that there are “no other children in Westview,” which calls to mind the creepy “for the children” chant from back in episode 2.
Captain Marvel
Darcy draws the connection between how both Wanda and Carol Danvers got their powers via an Infinity Stone. Similarly, they acknowledge Wanda almost took out Thanos in Avengers: Endgame but that this feels outside the scope of her powers. Still, the fact that both Wanda and Carol stood up to Thanos isn’t something that’s being glossed over in the MCU.
Note Monica’s reaction when the name “Captain Marvel” is said isn’t exactly what you’d call enthusiastic.
Monica Rambeau
Monica’s test results coming back blank seem pretty significant. Is this a signifier that her molecular structure has changed, whether from the blip or passing through the hex barrier? Are we witnessing Monica’s superheroic origin story in slow motion?
Who is the Villain of WandaVision, anyway?
Despite the implications from the end of episode 4, Wanda isn’t completely in control of what’s going on. At various points in the episode she seems to be manipulating everything, but at others seems to be completely immersed in this reality.
But if she doesn’t remember how this all started, that sets up a potential villain reveal (or more than one) down the road.
What’s up with Agnes?
Agnes is complicit but was disturbed by Wanda’s ability to “resurrect” so how much can she really know? Unless, of course, she’s just “acting” this way to continue with her cover.
On the other hand, Agnes “helping out with the kids” is kind of in line with our Agatha Harkness theory for the character.
Reed Richards?
Monica mentions that she has a particular “aerospace engineer” in mind to call for help. Based on all the other subtle Fantastic Four clues that were in the fourth episode, could this individual be Reed Richards?
If they aren’t taking that big a swing, it could be Adam Bernard Brashear, known as “The Blue Marvel,” another prominent Marvel scientist, and one who has led the 616 version of the Ultimates with Monica on the team.
Evan Peters is Pietro
“She recast Pietro?”
Yes, you are indeed seeing Evan Peters returning as Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver here. This is (at least until it’s revealed that the MCU Wanda and Pietro were indeed mutants whose powers were merely “activated” by Strucker’s experiments) now officially the first appearance of a mutant/member of the X-Men in the MCU. Peters, of course, played Pietro in three films,X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Dark Phoenix. While Aaron Taylor-Johnson played Pietro in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Peters played him in Days of Future Past, and he was generally more warmly-received by fans.
And does this indeed mean that Pietro is alive again, albeit in “recast” form? Or is Wanda so powerful that she ripped open a hole in the multiverse itself in order for her brother to “make a guest appearance” in Westview? This could very well be the first indication of what’s to come in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and the possibly Spiderverse-y Spider-Man 3.
Unless…what if this isn’t Pietro at all? What if it’s someone manipulative merely taking the form of Pietro to mess with Wanda even further?
Also, Pietro’s “bad boy” appearance very much feels like it fits with the Family Ties aesthetic. His “New York tough guy” look and persona is much like Nick, Mallory’s idiot boyfriend.  Coincidentally, Nick also starred in an episode of the show where he got a dog and it died soon after from an accident.
We wrote much more about the shocking WandaVision episode 5 ending here.
We Are Kind of OK With the ’80s
Jazzercise was indeed a real thing, god help us.
For those of you thinking the internet was a whatever a reverse anachronism is, we made the same mistake too. But it turns out it has been around in some form since the 1960s, when the Advance Research Projects Agency (precursor to today’s US government mad science agency, DARPA) networked a few computers and sent messages back and forth.
Unanswered Questions
Dennis the Mailman is back from episode 1. His little aside to the kids is an indicator that he is vaguely aware of what’s really going on. Not necessarily in a sinister way, but a reminder that the people of Westview aren’t really enjoying this.
One of the camera feeds we see is from Satellite 348. Avengers #348 had a Vision-centric cover and story.
Is there a significance to the stuffed animal on the chair at the beginning? I thought maybe it was a stuffed Bova or something, but I think it’s just a bunny.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });

TRIGGERS: None
{{ CHARACTER INFORMATION }}
CHARACTER: Bexley Corrigan (Nicknames: Bex / Little Bee by her father)
PRONOUNS: She / Her
AGE: 18
FACE CLAIM: Naomi Scott
POWER: Cryokinesis
QUOTE: "You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep on re-reading the last one.”
PERSONALITY:
Bookworm - Bexley grew up loving books and everything having to do with them. She’s always loved the magic that they possess– their power to be able to take you to a different place, ease your worries, and bring out parts of yourself you didn’t even know you had. Some of her happiest memories involve books, and they became a source of comfort in the crazy world she was thrust into.
Big Heart - Bex has always been an animal lover, starting at age six when her parents brought home their first family pet, a particularly wrinkly English bulldog named Chunk, who soon became one of her favorite family members. It doesn’t stop at animals though– Bexley would never do anything to intentionally hurt people, and hates seeing people she cares for in pain. Bex tries to do the most she can to help people in need, from donating her old clothes to volunteering in a soup kitchen. Her main goal is trying to find out a way to use her new powers to protect people and make lives better.
Creative - Bexley writes poetry and short stories in her free time, and has the potential to become an author– if only she’d finish the five books she’s started writing. She has several adult coloring books, and makes friendship bracelets to give to people. She enjoys finding creative solutions to her problems, and she prides herself on being able to look at them in a different light than most.
Indecisive - It’s a problem she’s had her whole life. What do I want for dinner? What shirt should I wear? What flavor of ice cream? She usually asks her mom, but if her mom doesn’t help out (by helping out she means make the decision for her) she moves on the other family members. If that doesn’t work, she makes a pros and cons list. Bex views this as a good thing– this means no snap decisions, which means nothing to feel guilty about. If you have time and want a logical, thought out answer, she’s your girl– just not if you need a decision made in the next few minutes.
Non confrontational - If she’s the only one involved, Bexley prefers to stay silent (and then pretend to argue with the person in front of the mirror when she gets home– and totally wreck them). However, if a family member or someone she cares about is involved, she would go to the ends of the earth to protect and stand up for them.
Withdrawn - Ever since the disappearance of her sister, Bexley has retreated deeper into her shell. She dislikes being around large numbers of people, especially ones she doesn’t know, and would much rather be at home in her room with the company of Ivy or an especially good book. While Bex does attend parties, football games and other stereotypical high school outings, she does so at the insistence of Ivy and doesn’t really enjoy herself there. Bexley values alone time and needs some set aside each day, or else she feels overwhelmed and frazzled.
BIOGRAPHY:
Bex had a very good home life. She had two loving parents who would do anything for her, a younger brother, Oliver, whom she adores, and an older sister named Larkin. (Bex was Little Bee, her sister was Little Lark). It was at school when things turned sour. She was a shy and quiet girl with few friends– she preferred books to people. She was a stellar student academics wise, but popularity wise? Not so much. This lack of friends made her turn to Larkin as a source of comfort and advice. It was hard when for Bex when Lark went to college, missing her first day as a high school freshman. Because her sister wasn’t always there for chats, she turned to her diary. She journals every night and has four years worth of notebooks filled up.
Things changed when she entered her junior year. Her beloved sister, only twenty one, left for a party one New Years Eve and never returned. She never turned up, but police never found a body either. (Bexley is quite confident her sister is still alive, somewhere. But where?) There Bex was, her only sister and closest friend gone. Her parents became distant, her mother crying herself to sleep each night and her father ceasing to be his playful self. Bexley sank into depression and stopped attempting her school work, a cause of concern for her teachers. After suggesting to her parents she try to go to a support group, she attended a meeting held by her parish youth group. There she met her first real friend since kindergarten: Ivy Kyles. They sat together the first meeting and have been inseparable ever since. For the first time, Bex found someone she can talk about anything with, one with whom she feels comfortable enough to share her deepest darkest secrets. When she and Ivy told Ivy’s parents they were dating, their response was, "I thought you already were!” Bexley views Ivy as her rock, and someone she would do anything to protect.
Ivy loves superhero movies, and was absolutely thrilled when Bex said they were going to see Wonder Woman as a date. Bex, not a movie lover herself, was happy to excuse herself to leave the chilly theatre and refill the popcorn tub, taking that time to get a water for herself. Grabbing the last one, she took it up to the cashier to find out that it was fairly expensive for a bottle of water. The cashier looked somewhat apologetic. “Sorry, it’s a newer, fancier brand. We only got in four or five– and you got the last one.” Anxious to get back to Ivy, she paid for the overpriced water, albeit begrudgingly. Oddly, the more she drank, the warmer the theatre seemed to get. When she woke up the next day, she felt strange, but shrugged it off as to much popcorn. It was over the next few weeks that she began to notice strange things happening. Ivy had begun to recoil from her touch, saying that her hands were always freezing, even though to Bex they felt perfectly normal. She would pick up a room temperature bottle of water only to find it feeling like it had just come out of the refrigerator a few seconds later. Things were changing, that much was clear; could that expensive bottle of water have anything to do with it?
HEADCANONS:
Awesome 80’s - Bexley loves eighties music and has stacks of her parents’ old CD’s in her room. Her favorite is Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the Heart, but The Proclaimers I’m Gonna Be has a nice ring to it as well. Whenever she’s sad she listens to Cyndi Lauper, Wham! and sometimes Billy Joel. Bex has a soundtrack for every mood.
Brotherly love - Ever since Larkin’s death, Oliver has felt kind of lonely, so Bex always sets aside time to spend with her little brother. Since he’s 9 years younger, activities include playing with Legos, talking about Minecraft (which she still doesn’t completely understand) and watching cartoons. (Teen Titans Go is her personal favorite.) Oliver has dubbed this Bexley Bonding.
Singing in the shower - Bexley hates her singing voice, but there is one place she feels free to belt it out: the shower. She turns the water as hot as she can handle (but the cold has been pretty bearable lately) and sings her heart out. Her choice songs? The soundtrack from Fiddler on the Roof. She went to a production for a field trip in fifth grade with her dad as a chaperone and has been in love ever since. Wicked songs work well in a pinch, and she even tries out Phantom of the Opera sometimes (but only when she’s sure that nobody is in the house.)
