almost finished with my Queen Seondeok rewatch. it's a 2009 k-drama that still remains the best show i've ever watch, i cannot recommend this show enough. the show's about the power struggle between mishil and deokman (seondeok). it's centered around women and the writing and acting is superb.

mishil is literally the perfect antagonist. the show isn't afraid to show that she is a very capable and talented leader, that genuinely cares for her country and people while still making her cruel and ruthless. i can't say i was rooting for her because of everything she did and the way she treats bidam, but she was fascinating to watch. the creepy music that would play whenever she appeared and her iconic smile, her presence was so threatening and she owned every scene she was in. i also love how the characters in the show can't fully understand her motives, she remains this almost mystical being.

deokman is my baby. she's soooo smart and watching her scheme and develop as a leader was so much fun! the show wasn't afraid to show her fail and make mistakes. her scenes with mishil are perfection and i LOVE how the show didn't make things easy for her. she really had to prove to people why they should follow her. her arc was perfect.

yushin was 10\10. his dynamic with deokman is so sweet and tragic. like obvs i'm team bidam but i was really shipping them before bidam arrived lmao

bidam BIDAM the man you are. he was terrifying, pathetic, cruel, sympathetic, sensitive, loving and evil all at the same time. he's the perfect anti-hero. the way he was abandoned again and again and never felt secure and needed constant assurance stop. i loved mishil's husbands. the way they were just ok with mishil being with both of them & being ruled by her. daemon could never lmao

There is nothing in the world I love more than an obsessive unhealthy single-focus romance. I am an OCD kinda gal and YOU and only YOU and what else is there in the world other than YOU romances are my jam. Yes, they are always a disaster. Yes, they always end badly. Yes, they are always 1000000 percent worth it cause while you are burning you are alive.

Anyways, all this to say Till the End of the Moon is buttering my biscuits. I very much approve of how they have stayed on brand with this romance since the first episode. Relief? Moments of reprieve? Sanity?!! Not on my watch, baby. Not even for a second.

I’m gonna have to watch Queen Seondeok after this to imagine Bidam if he were a cultivating anti-hero instead of just the baddest cat on the mat.

Lately I had rewatch a South Korean TV show named The Great Queen Seon Deok, first aired in 2009 on MBC. I am part of BiDeok (Bidam x Deokman) shipper.

As I remember, a long time ago I watch a scene where baby/toddler Bidam shows affection towards baby Deokman when Sohwa meet Munno in their run. But on the website that I rewatched it, there is no such scene. I can’t find it either on YouTube, find only a few posts about BiDeok on Tumblr but no such scene. Now I’m doubting whether that scene is deleted scene or extended version.

That such scene like a hallucination for myself.

Now, all I want to do is read any BiDeok fan fictions. Unfortunately there isn’t many 😢 how sad.

I think it puts us on notice what kind of narrative it will be that when we first meet our FL as a child, she's being dragged as tribute to Yuan.

It is so interesting watching this in retrospect because while I obviously can't know for sure, everything at the start was setting up SungNyang and Wang Yu as THE otp. I mean, they may not have ever gotten a happy ending, it wasn't this type of drama, but there were definitely being set as true loves. They have the first meeting (Ta Hwan doesn't even show up in ep 1 except in the framing coronation scene):

But of course it all goes bad and her mother dies and she almost does too.

Side note: he's a bad guy but that styling makes me weak:

Anyway, to get back to Wang Yu and SungNyang (side note - Empress Ki is so well done that even though I ultimately ended up on Ta Hwan x Sung Nyang ship, I totally got those who were rabid for SN x WY. And honestly, Wang Yu is by far the best person of the main three, it's not even a competition. His greatest tragedy is that he's smart, he's tough, he's righteous - and it is still not enough, never enough. Not to win. And I am not talking about love, I am talking in general.)

It's an interesting parallel between him and Ta Hwan who, in ep 2, we find out is Yuan heir sent to Koryo to die just as the Koryo heir is sent to Yuan to die.

And then timeskip...

Ha Ji Won is queen of everything btw. I miss when we had roles like this. Here she is passing as a man, leader of an armed group, deadly archer. God. I love her.

Wang Yu and Sung Nyang's meetings in ep 1 all scream "kdrama OTP OTP OTP!" It's fascinating. Live shooting has pluses and minuses, but one of the pluses is that they can alter things if they see the story would be better in a different direction due to actor interactions. This isn't as stark a case as the legendary case in Queen Seon Duk (Bidam, Bidam, Bidam, BIDAAAAAAAM!!!!) but it's up there.

This was gorgeous. Honestly, they had great chemistry and dynamics. If it wasn't for Ji Chang Wook being such a consummate scene stealer with a character basically written to cater precisely to me, I'd have been on this ship forever and ever.

I popped this drama on randomly this morning thinking I needed a break from the intensity of Joy of Life and got another type of intensity.

The Wolf is very cheesy and over the top in all the best ways. It was giving me Gu Family Book vibes in the first few eps… with the sweet monster boy in love with a lone beauty on a mountain top. The music is a bit too loud when they bring in the OST but it has 2010-2014 kdrama vibes. And I liked a lot of kdramas from that era… they were unique. They had these angsty plot lines and featured people who actively contributed to their own suffering in a very sexy smoldering way. This show came out in 2020 but whatever, it fits the bill.

Darren Wang was amazing as the smiling snarling wolf boy… but when he showed up in that black uniform with that hair cut and started disrobing his silky black undershirt to expose all his honey colored perfect skin I thought I was going insane. INSANE. I had to pause the show and walk away (metaphorically. I just picked up my phone and ran here obviously)
