BACK IN TIME: CHEEK TO CHEEK LIVE! FASHION
Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett performed for a selected crowd at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall on July 28, 2014. The special aired on October 24 on PBS as part of their Arts Fall Festival 2014 Great Performances series.
She was styled by the incomparable Brandon Maxwell. Hair by Frederic Aspiras and makeup by Sarah Nicole Tanno, respectively.
For the red carpet and “Nature Boy” opening performance, Gaga donned a custom Alon Livné black silk dolman sleeve caftan gown with silver crystal embroidery, based on the a design from the iconic Israeli designer’s Fall/Winter 2014 lookbook.
The look was styled with antiqued gold BaubleBar Xena crystal drop earrings...
...which were swapped for these Kenneth Jay Lane’s crystal leaf drop earrings on stage.
She completed the look with the Brian Atwood Sasha black velvet criss-cross platform sandals.
For “Anything Goes” and “Cheek to Cheek” the songstress wore another enchanting caftan. This bronze, shimmering beauty was designed by Michael Costello exclusively for the Jazz special.
Gaga’s dramatic fringed gold headpiece with crystals is created by Cassouto for Alon Livné’s aforementioned collection.
Her statement crystal chandelier earrings date back to the 1960s and are signed by Hattie Carnegie!
Stuart Weitzman designed her barely-there Nudist sandals in the color “Petrol Aurora”.
My favorite look is the one Gaga wore during ‘I Won’t Dance’ with Tony. This black lace number is custom-made by Valentino, based on a design from the Spring/Summer 2014 Haute Couture collection.
Her headpiece was created by The Devoted Milliner, one of Australia’s leading fashion milliners. “I remember listening to only Gaga during the week I was constructing this wild piece for her”, the director and designer of the label, Cindy Vogels, shared with us.
The bespoke feathered piece was a a last-minute addition to a selection of work requested by Gaga’s fashion team.
The ring, she wears on her index finger, is nOir Jewelry’s rhodium modernist spiral ring.
Her black & silver crystal pavé pumps with starburst detail on the toe are vintage 1969 Stuart Weitzman for Martinique.
For “Goody Goody”, our girl sat on a giant rocking chair while looking fabulous in the satin watteau cocktail dress in cyclamen-colored gazar from Stéphane Rolland’s 2014 Prêt-à-Porter capsule collection.
The look was styled with Gladys Tamez Millinery Bianca felt velour hat featuring molded crown, extra large flat brim, and grosgrain ribbon trim (Gaga had hers customized with a cut-out for her eye to peek out)...
...the Cornelia James Melissa opera-length black velvet opera gloves...
...and Stuart Weitzman Nudist sandals in textured black.
For the iconic ‘Bang Bang’ performance, Gaga’s team asked New York-based leather maker David Samuel Menkes to create this fiery red biker jumpsuit with belted waist and silver-tone hardware.
Her boots are Giuseppe Zanotti’s Fall/Winter 2014 quilted leather double zip biker moto boots in red.
Then Gaga sang ‘Lush Life’ in a fabulous pleated silver metallic lame gown with embroidered starburst detail on the waist - a custom-made couture creation by Roberto Cavalli based on the dress presented on his Fall/Winter 2005 collection.
For the ‘Let’s Face The Music and Dance’ performance, Gaga took the stage in an azure-blue caftan with bejeweled waist detail, custom-made by NYC-based Mathieu Mirano creation.
Her oriental cuff-style Hung Up hand-made gold-plated brass earrings embellished with Swarovski crystals in grey & white are Erickson Beamon!
The matching Clarita suede sandals by Alexandre Birman with ankle-tie and knotted strap on the front complemented the look perfectly.
Finally, the ‘But Beautiful’ and ‘It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)’ performance. Gaga wore the Grapefruit Gelato blush satin caftan from Michael Costello’s Project Runway “All Stars” collection.
The look was styled with a fabulous custom made crown from Celia Kritharioti’s Fall/Winter 2013 Haute Couture...
... and a pair of crystal-embellished blush pink satin Swirly sandals from Nicholas Kirkwood’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection.
