“Joganiya” is Hindi/Nepali word that means “a female devotee” of a deity. There are numerous songs and films from India that use that word. Sometimes the word has carnal connotations in general use.

Apparently some Christians in India and Nepal have used the word to mean something like female disciple, a devoted lover of the Divine Christ.

Here is Rubina's English commentary on the meaning of the song:

Joganiya (Extreme Lover) is a bride crazy in the love and beauty of her Groom. This song portraits the pain of the separation with her groom along with the depth of insanity that she is gaining in His (her Groom's) love. So in the deep meaning, Yeshua is the Groom of the Church (bride). And we honor, obey, praise Him not because of fear but because of Love just like a Joganiya should be. Church Love remains Forever 2 Cor 13:13, and Yeshua is Love 1 John 4:8 Yeshua Loves us like anything. John 3:16, Caution: 1 John 2:15 He is a Jealous God, we belong only to Him John 15:19,Yeshua will come to take his bride Revelation 19:7.

The context:

Women of India singing devotional songs to ther Beloved Deity has a very long history, going back thousands of year. There are many scholarly articles and books about this.

Here's one book I recommend: Interpreting Devotion: The Poetry and Legacy of a Female Bhakti Saint of India [Kāraikkāl Ammaiyār, Tamil 5th century] by Karen Pechilis, 2011

So I see this current 'Joganiya' hit song as a Christian statement in a very long tradition of India: the Devoted Lover singing to their deity of love and longing. it's a great song with numerous great dances. and a blessing to the Body of Christ.
