Today’s #bhadvent photo challenge was Hustle and Bustle. Where are we actually going. Are we rushing to nothing or are we enjoying the journey (even if we hits traffic). Intentionally centering myself in this traffic of life takes practice and patience. #InstaAdvent

1st Monday of Advent: Hope I think it is pretty awesome how the first candle lit on our parish’s Advent wreath is the candle of hope. . Hope. It is the first step in any waiting period or difficult season. Without it, promises lose their value, and miracles fall short of what makes them amazing; achieving goals and looking forward to the destination at the end of a long journey are devoid of meaning without this virtue of hope. Hope is the first step toward any goal, and is the fuel that moves us onward, the very way we are able to bring meaning into our journeys, and yes, even our suffering. . And then there’s the earthly “hope” that’s attached to the outcome. “I hope it works out for me.” “I hope it goes according to MY plan. I’m going to be so disappointed if it doesn’t work out for ME.” As a person of faith, I am challenged by this daily...struggling to lay down my own plans, my sense of control, my attachment to MY desired outcomes and instead, put myself (my heart, my life) in the hands of the One Who knows me so much better than I know myself and loves me so much more in a moment than anyone (or even myself) could ever do in a lifetime. . Hope does not rest on the idea that “everything is going to be okay for me in the end”, no. True hope is grounded in a life-giving relationship with God and in the belief that “I WILL be okay, even if everything in my life is not, because I am known, seen, loved and provided for by a loving God.” . “Not only that, but we even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the holy Spirit that has been given to us.” - Romans 5:1-5 #BHadvent #hope #advent #catholic (at Kuliouou - Kalani Iki, Honolulu, Hawaii)

I'd love to poetically title this #AdventMorning but it would be a fib. Those purple and pink hues are only due to IG's #1977filter. Taken on #StNicholasDay, December 6, 2016. #BHAdvent #InstaAdvent #Advent (at Bennett Park)
